After a recent experience with The Red Wing store on Bell and 59th ave I have purchased my last pair. It's amazing to me how a company has built such a great reputation can hire individuals that have no business being in a customer service roll. I wish I could do 2 reviews. The staff here is great and will do what they can as fast as they can to help. The 1 star is only about quality of boot. I got a pair about $200 last year within a couple months they were in for repairs duels to bad stitching. A couple months after that they were replaced because The sole wore through. I swapped to a "better" pair and it cost me a little more money but it would have been worth it. Now here I am with a pair of boots not a year old that I can feel every pebble under my feet, and the staff can't do anything because it's not a manufacturer defect. I always wanted to get a pair of boots from this company. I've always heard amazing things about their shoes. I just never saw myself spending $300 for boots. Well, my girlfriend got me a gift certificate for my birthday. I was so excited. I watched videos and talked to several people about their experience. I went in and expected a life changing experience in work footwear. I got the opposite. :( I dealt with a man who didn't want to be bothered as he hung out with his friends. I had to ask to have my foot measured. It took all of 15 seconds. I was tossed a pair of boots and socks and left sitting there as he returned to his conversation with his friends. I had mentioned that I usually wore "wide" as he walked away. He just said, "Yeah, they are a little wide". The boots I put on were tight. I figured and was told they'll break in and be perfect. Well they broke in and never loosened up. They hurt so bad I can't wear them. I tried. I tried for almost a year. I'm now stuck with a $300 pair of boots I'll never wear. Save your money and go to Walmart. A $35 pair of boots you can get a year+ out of. read more

After visiting 2other stores prior I walked in to buy work boots and was helped by Jesus. He was very helpful. He helped show me what shoes what be good for what I need(drywalling) and discussed how to help make them last longer. He even fitted my foot to find precisely what I needed. I ended up getting a pair of inserts, which were pricey, but fit so much better than any other I have purchased and will specifically help me with the area my shoes wear down 1st. I bought a pair of boots and Jesus put a tuff dip on them for protection and they look awesome. I'm so glad I ended up here for my shoes and the service I experienced was just as great. BUYERS BEWARE!!!! I bought the top of the line work boots from this store and after 4 months of wearing them as an electrician, they started to fall apart at the seams. I went into this store to get them warrantied and they're not willing to stand behind their boots claiming it's because of "wear and tear". We just had a fantastic shopping experience at Marcus Thomas's Red Wing store. Our sales person, Jesus Webb, was super knowledgeable and very, very helpful. We really appreciated his expertise and his honesty. It turned out the store didn't have the boot in stock that we wanted, but they didn't pressure us to order it from them or purchase something different. Instead they encouraged us to visit a different Red Wing store to make sure we were completely satisfied with the fit and style. My husband and I went to Red Wing shoes in Glendale at the request of friends who had shopped there and were extremely pleased. We got there when the store opened at 10:00a and was met at the door by a smiling Marcus Thomas, Manager. He held open the door for us and welcomed us inside. Once inside, he did what salesmen do, but he was so enthvusituc and genuine. He was proud of his store and you could tell. We were there for socks (not exactly exciting) for our son-in-law in Denver. Marcus was extremely knowledgeable. Explained the good points on everything and how they differed from one another. When other customers came into the store, he made sure to welcome them, but turned his attention back to us. It's nice when store employees make you feel good and appreciate your business. I loved the way Marcus represented Red Wing and how he treated us. While I'm by no means a snob, I am somewhat picky with shoes and it shows in my purchase history. I'd heretofore been religiously buying the same 6" boots from another manufacturer, but, in their infinite wisdom, those folks decided to change their sizing, downgrade their quality and even the style of laces they use since the last go around. All this while raising the price, as if to put salt in the wound. Pardon the pun, but it was high time to give them the boot and search for something else. My efforts centered on finding something made domestically if at all possible, as I was tired of high-priced but ultimately China-made shoes, which pretty much always means shit quality once you peek behind the facade of the fancy brand name stitched on the side. I'm no ultra nationalist, hell the last brand I wore was made in Thailand, but I do believe in looking for quality. Believe it or not, finding domestic boots was no easy task, but some friends clued me in to Red Wing and their American made boots. Granted, it is a minority of their product line, but I give them credit for enabling you to filter by country of origin on their website and single out domestically produced shoes (and no, I don't mean made here from global components or any of that smoke and mirrors nonsense, although that is also an option on their site if that's your inkling). Lo and behold, they actually did have exactly what I was looking for amid their Made in USA line, so went about finding a retail outlet that carried them, which landed me in this Glendale retail store a few days ago. Despite showing up less than 30 minutes to close, I was warmly greeted and immediately helped by one of the employees (young guy, didn't catch his name, sorry!). I knew exactly what product I was after, but no clue on the sizing as I've never worn this brand, so I was worried, especially given the price point, that this would turn into a fiasco. You see, most places I've been to, all you get is some lunkhead that asks you your size and if they fit. This experience, however, was the polar opposite. The person who assisted me was more than happy to explain the best way to gauge if their shoes were sized properly, both for length and width, and encouraged me to try another slightly smaller size which, it turned out, fit much better. I would have probably bought the larger (and wrong) size without their help, but I ended up making my purchase with great confidence that they were exactly what I needed. Several days of having worn the boots has all but confirmed that the sizing was spot on. I can honestly say, I have never been treated so well in a shoe store. Everyone was extremely pleasant, even at the end of what was probably a long week for them, and I never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision before I was completely certain of what I wanted. I got stylish, high-quality and perfectly sized Made in USA boots and could not be happier with how the entire transaction turned out. I have spent over $900 in the past two and a half months on boots which have tore my feet up due to: poor sizing, terrible soles, lack of durability and most of all extreme discomfort. I work 13-16 hour shifts doing construction and can be standing on everything from concrete, asphalt, dirt, trenches, ladders, gravel etc. I was recommended Red Wing by a friend who welds and he swore by them being the most comfortable boot out there. I decided to cave in and spend $250 on my first pair. I bought my first pair at a different Red Wing location. Little did I know these boots would be a half a size to big and once again my feet have blisters. I then called that store asking for help and was told they couldn't do anything for me since I wore them. For whatever reason I didn't give up on this brand just yet. I walked into this location wanting to be sized and measured with every intention of buying another pair. The first guy I met with Steven, and he was outgoing and eager to help. He took care of me he measured my foot, the width, and told me what boot would be best for my size foot. I ended up walking out with a pair of wing shooter Irish setters and I love them they felt amazing. I wore these boots to work the next day and noticed they were a little too wide so I ended up going back to Redwing expecting to have to buy another pair of brand new boots since I was told before if I wear the boots outside I can't exchange them or return them. As soon as I stepped in the door I was helped by Marcus the store Manager as well as Jesus. Marcus broke down every single boot. He also assured me that since I spent so much money at Redwing and had such a bad experience I wouldn't be walking out spending another dime at his store. We tried on several different sizes of the same boot in order to guarantee that the fit would be perfect for me. He went well above and beyond any expectations I ever had and I can honestly say in my entire life this was the best customer service experience I ever had. The crazy part is I feel like I gained a couple new friends because of how awesome our conversation was and how intentional and personal both Jesus and Marcus were with me as a customer. I was completely blown away. The crazy part is as I was in their store someone broke into my truck and started stealing out of my truck things I recently packed because I moved. So after all the money I've spent on boots and I'm here at the store trying to get another pair someone begins stealing my stuff. All I see is Marcus hurdle a bench and run outside yelling at this person for stealing property out of his customers vehicle. He immediately called the cops and made sure that they knew exactly where they were and told him what direction they were going. He got back all my stuff that was taken in by the end of it all he even gave me extra shoelaces and told me I could come in and get my boots cleaned every month. If you are in the market for any kind of boot, sock, hat, belt, wallet, glasses and anything you can think of that will be sold by Redwing you are sadly mistaken if you go into any other red wing store in the valley except for this one. They will take care of you like they have been your friend for years! If I can give these guys more stars I would. These guys represent Redwing to the highest degree. I have been buying my work shoes here for several years since before the Red Wing store in downtown Glendale closed. I now even have the same sales person at this store so he has been fitting most of my work shoes for about a dozen years. It is a good thing I get a lot of service out of my work shoes as they do not come cheap. Right now an American made basic work shoe is going for $162. Just like the nearby New Balance store they do not carry a full line or a very deep stock. My grandfather used to tell me that he would never wear anything else but Red Wing work boots. But that was a long time ago, in a day and age when there wasn't a whole lot of brands to choose from. When comparing Red Wings boots to Woolworth boots of the time, then yes, Red Wings were truly awesome. I have tried several times to follow in my grandfather's footsteps, but the truth is, there are numerous companies out there that offer much better work boots, in terms of comfortability, durability, and affordability. Timberland, Danner, Rocky, Georgia, and Keen are good examples of this. Every time I walk into a Red Wings store, I quickly realize that I am wasting my time. First off, the store is about the size of my bedroom closet. Selection and inventory is very limited. Over the years, I have probably visited a Red Wing store 7-8 times and every single time I have walked out of there empty handed because they did not have the style I wanted or the size I needed. And for the record, I am your average 45-year-old male with a size 11 shoe. If Red Wing cannot accommodate that demographic then they seriously need to rethink their business plan. You have a better chance at getting a tuna fish sandwich at these stores than you do a pair of work boots. The sales reps are completely apathetic in their jobs and who can blame them when they are unable to help their customers. Some of the sales rep that I have encountered hate their jobs so much that they actually show annoyance towards their customers, like this location. In the end, all they can do is offer up useless suggestions like trying another store or ordering from their website instead. Gee thanks. Heck, with Amazon's Prime 2 day delivery service combined with their free and easy return process you can't go wrong buying shoes or anything else on Amazon. Amazon offers an infinite number of styles and sizes for a whole lot less than what you will pay at a Red Wing store. I recently bought a pair of Irish Setter boots as a gift on Amazon. The boots were more than half the price than what Red Wing was selling them for at their store. Half the price folks! They were on my doorstep in 2 days. Red Wing stores remind me of those funny Direct TV commercials where some people like paying more for less, just like some people like driving across town to visit a Red Wing store only to be told that they don't carry any shoes in whatever size needed. This didn't work and they took the insert back but wouldn't give me my receipt back. Tried a different insole to make the boot ( only one of them) more comfortable, which didn't work either. The manager said he would have the boot stretched, which wasn't the way I wanted to go. As soon as the word "return" came up, I was told that this boot didn't qualify for the 30 day guarantee.
