Did I order a Nitro Cold Brew or coffee flavored water? That was the question I sadly had to ask myself tonight. I suppose my expectations were high after reading all the positive reviews here and knowing how popular this coffee shop is. However, I hate to say I was disappointed. While the ambiance of the coffee shop is very ideal for studying (spacious rooms, plenty of tables and outlets, outdoor seating, etc), I did not think highly of their watered down cold brew especially after having better quality cold brews at other coffee shops. I also bought a double chocolate cookie which was disappointingly hard to chew due to it's lack of freshness. While the quality is questionable, I did appreciate the cheap prices appealing to college students. Furthermore, this coffee shop is definitely ideal for studying either in groups or individually. read more

I went here to study with a friend a few weeks ago. The people working there were not super friendly. The coffee was fine but it was definitely expensive (over 3 $ for a cup of black coffee). The location itself is good but parking was difficult to find, and as for the interior, it lacked proper lighting and outlets- so it isnt the best place to study if you need to use your laptop. read more

I am a fan of their iced chai lattes and they make a great cafe con leche. The coffee art on their hot coffees are works of barista beauty. Ask for a real, "stay to enjoy it" mug and marvel at the artistry. I admit I mourned when Bagelheads closed and Redeye was no longer the Midtown purveyor of their goods. The replacement baker is okay. The availability of sushi in the cold case has saved me from a total carbohydrate coma during many a hectic work day. The free wifi and the plethora of outlets to plug in my electronics help to lift this place above other coffeehouse locations. If I am scheduling a meeting over coffee, it is likely to be at Redeye on a weekday between the hours of 8 am and 10 am. I actually can't believe I've never left a review for this place until now! My boyfriend and I are nothing short of coffee obsessed and have each narrowed down our top choices in Tallahassee. RedEye is tied with another place in town for me. (P.S. It's not a coffee shop and they're known for organic and local goods.) I'm typically a latte type of girl with a sweet tooth so you'll probably never catch me with a plain latte. (If you do catch me drinking a black coffee, then I highly recommend not pissing me off.) RedEye's syrups have yet to disappoint me and I've had quite a few. I also enjoy the layout since you can either be somewhat secluded or surrounded by others depending where you decide to grab a seat. I've actually skipped classes during undergrad and came here to just hang out. (Oopsie.) Best chai tea latte I've ever had comes from RedEye. I love visiting different coffee shops and I am lucky to have a special one near by. I enjoy studying here, the WiFi is always working and there is always a good vibe. The workers are always very pleasant and helpful and the place is always clean. I never feel pressured that I am overstaying my visit as I am studying. There are also food options available so you don't have to leave when you get hungry. Every coffee drink I've had has been great. I am not really into sweet coffees so I usually stick to just plain coffee with a touch of almond milk or an americano with almond milk (when I need the extra kick from espresso). However, my favorite treat is the chai latte. I order the latte with almond milk as I do not like dairy milk and it still tastes amazing. You may also order the chai latte with a shot of espresso in it (dirty chai), which is truly the best. If you think you like chai latte's, just wait until you try RedEye's. Probably one of the best places in town to get homework done and get a reasonably priced coffee that is QUALITY. Red eye is also all about fair trade coffee and bring economically sound to their coffee growers. So I LOVE that aspect of them as well. I got an iced mocha latte that is delicious and the barista was super nice about giving me extra pumps of chocolate in there. So do yourself a favor and get a cowboy Dan cookie. I think this was not around when I was at FSU but I've been a few times when coming back to VISIT Tallahassee. There's a nice vibe to the place, its usually full of students and young professionals. Nice and spacious, almost a bit too spacious - would have liked some comfier couch-lounge space since we were there for a few hours doing some work on the road. They do a good french press, but we were a bit thrown off by the fact that the porcelain cup that came with our pot was nuclear hot - could not hold. We had to ask for a new cup and she said they warm the cups like that so as the french press cooled the cup would reheat the coffee. Good in theory, but not in practice - we couldn't even drink the first cup because it was impossible to be held. The iced mint tea was amazingly well brewed. They know how to brew a hot cup and cool it properly so it doesn't water down. I asked for light sweetening and they hit it spot on. Friendly staff, nice working environment, I'd definitely come back when in the area again. Parking can be a bit tricky, but if the front is full (and it seems like it always is), just pull around to the back. read more

I found that Tallahassee is divided amongst its coffee shops. Redeye is among this group of popular cofee shops. Unfortunately, it misses for me. They recently stopped selling their nitro brew and while it is a cost effective measure it hinders customer satisfaction. Secondly, their origin coffee and flavor isn't for me. Third, I ordered an iced macchiato a little while back, and the beverage contained an extreme amount of caramel which de-emphasised the actual coffee. Prices are inexpensive and are proportionate to menu options. read more

I was asked to go and try out this new coffee thing. The Nitro Cold Brew coffee thing is big in Seattle and LA right now. I had never heard of it before and really not that big of a coffee drinker. Redeye coffee is right next door to one of the better taco restaurants in tally. I believe that they were building this place when I stopped in for a taco. now the place is sweet on the inside with a lot of room. They have a bunch of smaller tables scattered around the place. I real inviting spot for sure. The guy behind the counter was really helpful with all of my questions that I had. The coffee itself was reach out and touch strong. It really to me was thicker then normal coffee. If that's even an explanation. It reminds me of a properly poured pinto of real Guinness. I good thicker head was formed on this cup. Red Eye serves amazing coffee. I always feel good when I am drinking it, knowing that it is organic and served in environmentally friendly cups. Until recently, I did not know how great they really were. One day when doing work at one of their indoor tables, I decided to read the sign above my head. I discovered that not only do they serve coffee that is good for the environment, but they also invest all of their after tax profits in local and global causes. You can't drink a coffee anywhere else in Tallahassee and feel like you are making a difference like you are here. Even if you are only a small part of the initiative, you are still helping somehow! So onto the coffee..They serve a mean cortidito, that comes with a thick foamy layer of espumita goodness. It has a real kick and keeps me energized throughout the day. I also often order their Americano, iced, as iced coffee is my drink of choice in the summer time. The Americano is very rich in flavor and I feel refreshed throughout the entire day. They recently opened a new shop on Capital Circle near Tom Brown Park, and are working on another location to open soon! read more

During times that the high schoolers and college kids are cramming, this place can be crammed with few free seats in sight!
