By far, the best Cuban coffee in Tallahassee. No question. Here's my tip: when ordering your Cuban coffee, ask for "a double Cubano with half sugar." The reason being is that they normally put a little too much sugar for my taste, but if you order it with "half sugar," it'll taste as good--or better--than the coffee at Versailles in Miami. Cuban coffee aside, this is a great place to meet someone for coffee, spend hours working using the free WiFi, or just grab something on the go. The baristas are very knowledgeable and nice, and know the regulars by name. They have a wide selection of fair trade coffee, as well as small bites to snack on. Midtown Pies, the pizza joint next door, will also deliver your pizza to Redeye if you prefer to eat it there. Redeye earns the full 5 stars because it fulfills all my requirements in a coffee shop: 1. Strong, high-quality espresso; 2. The option to make it Cuban-style (or Cubano), and it actually coming out well; 3. Fast, friendly and knowledgeable baristas; 4. Comfortable/aesthetically pleasing locale; and 5. Use of proper espresso utensils (demitasse cup and spoon). read more

Probably my favorite coffee shop in Tallahassee. WiFi is reliable, the baristas are always nice! They always greet you and smile, I've never had a bad experience here. The coffee is yummy, and I love the concept of donating the profits and having fair trade coffee. Outlets can be scarce as well as seating, but it's quite an open space that is conducive to being productive and studying or grabbing a cup of Joe with friends and catching up! Their Chai latte is absolutely delicious and it beats Starbucks Chai latte by far. Yum. read more

I stopped into Redeye to get some work done while in Tallahassee and the place was comfortable and friendly. The coffee was good and they have a spacious location. What I really like about the cafe is that they are a non-profit and donate all profits to three different causes. Panajachel, Guatemala, Benin, Africa, and Serve Tallahassee. I love this place. The location is great, close to everything. The coffee is good, and the fact that all the profits go to local, national, and international food charities makes me feel way better about spending too much money on a latte. The people are nice and the seats are comfy. They have plenty of outlets around (essential for homework crammers). There is some great live acoustic music that comes through from time to time, and even some food options for people venturing from the coffee. My only complaints would be that the Internet connection can be spotty once in a while (but with 2 unsecured Internet locations nearby, this not usually a real problem) and the fact that they are not open on Sundays (probably bc it is owned by a local church). read more

Popped into RedEye Coffee to grab a latte to pass the time (getting work done on my car). I'd heard positive things about this spot and decided to give it a shot. I really like the "laid back" atmosphere. There's lots of space to sit (inside, as well as space outside). The wait staff is friendly and will offer recommendations if you're unsure on what you want. An additional perk is the free WiFi (wish I'd brought my laptop or tablet. I'm certain I'll frequent this spot again when I'm in Midtown. read more

I liked this place more before it became this new name but they kept the same organic, worldly feel from before. I personally come here about 3x a week for the chai tea latte, it is by far with zero competition the best chai tea in town. It is a bit pricey, and they just increased again with the price of coffee, but nothing more than you would pay at a Starbucks. Food selection is a bit odd, often offering sushi, muffins, bananas or nature valley granola bars. Atmosphere is much better than many coffee places in town, and the wi-fi has never failed me. As far as a cup of coffee, rank 3/5, as far as environment conducive to why people go to coffee shops, 5/5. read more

Ordered dry cappuccinos. That means the cup won't be heavy because there won't be much milk in it. Terrible cappuccinos. More like weak lattes. Threw them away. They use canned whip cream which is a big thumbs down for us as it is a sign of overall quality. So easy to use real whipped cream. Cannot comment if the coffee is good as it was too weak to tell. Redeye is my go-to coffee shop in Tallahassee when I need to get some work done. The coffee here is good, certainly better than Starbucks, and pretty consistent. It's also Fair Trade, which gets them MAJOR points since that industry can have atrocious working conditions. Beyond that, they also donate profits. Tada! The location is really a large open room that's mostly windows and filled with tables. So many tables. If you arrive during peak time it can be difficult to find space, let alone an outlet. I wish there were more outlets available, but so far I've always managed to find one when I need to. There are restrooms available down the hall to the right of the counter. The staff working behind the counter are friendly and patient, which is brilliant. They had some kind of cold brew for sample one day that was kind of like a beer but not. If they bring it back, I'd recommend trying it. read more

It's everything I ask for in a cafe/coffee shop and more because the location really makes it a great place to get work done or catch up with friends. Only curiosity I have is that they always have sushi to sell in the little display fridge at the front, and it's never fully stocked, so I am just wondering where the sushi comes from, and why do they only have 3-4 up for sell? Just seems really suspect but does not at all affect my feelings towards the place. If I could give them 10 stars I would! This is the best coffee place in town. Their chai latte is the BEST, I have tried chai lattes from every local coffee shop in town and NO ONE beats RedEye Coffee. Add a shot of espresso and oat milk and it's amazing! They have many milk alternatives for us lactose intolerants. The staff is friendly and they have been doing a great job with COVID going around. Everyone wears masks and space inside is limited for social distancing and if you'd like they have outdoor seating too! read more

This cafe is very dedicated to fair-trade and wildlife conservation. I absolutely love that. I think it's awesome that this coffee shop also serves sushi. I've never seen that before and couldn't help but tell my friends about it. You can also meet some ultra cool characters here, too. There are always some cool cats doodling or typing up screen plays. I've put off trying Redeye, because honestly the decor wasn't my taste (too clean & new, too industrial, no quirks/frills, etc), and the parking seemed too limited. In a coffee shop, I like an intimate experience & atmosphere, comfy chairs & nooks, and this isn't that kind of vibe. It did, however, have plenty of seating, and seemed to be a really good choice for the students studying there, for what that's worth. It also had what appeared to be an onsite, wireless printer, which is really interesting, and I can see how this would be very convenient for those working lingerers. This is the perfect working student study spot, if that's what you're looking for. I am sad I put off trying this place for so long. I had the best chai latte I've ever had, and my partner very much enjoyed his cafe cubano. We will certainly be back, and look forward to trying the rest of the menu. read more

My all-time favorite coffee shop. I've been to two of the three locations- Capital Circle is my favorite for studying because it quiet, small, and the least visited by college kids (even though I am a college kid). Bannerman Rd is a little bit bigger and close to Target, which is always a plus! Red Eye has pretty spectacular pastries made by a local business. I love their chocolate croissant and their pistachio muffin. Also, their Café con Leché is the highlight of my study session. I've also tried their lattes, totally amazing. Alright so anyone that's been to the Redeye more than once or twice has probably seen or bumped into me here at some point; I can be something of a fixture depending on the week. There was a time a couple of years ago (when it was still called "The Coffee Pub") that I spent six or eight hours in the joint daily while finishing my long overdue undergraduate degree. Nowadays I still drop by for a few hours a couple of days a week to work on freelance projects when the home office starts feeling cramped. Actually I'm there right now. If you're not unlucky enough to come at one of the busier times it's easy to get some work done here; the music isn't too loud, there's (more or less) plenty of space and people tend to study more than chat. If you do come at a busy time (hard to predict but usually mid-afternoon then again at early evening) it can be tough trying to get a seat, particularly at a table near the wall where the outlets all are. There is outdoor seating that's almost always available but again, no power plugs if you need to jack in. Chairs and couches are pretty comfy here which is a plus but probably contributes to the fact that people (myself included) tend to stay for decent stretches so be prepared to camp for a table from time to time. The wireless is free and is most often clear of the myriad network crashes/slowdowns that seemed to plague the joint when it was The Coffee Pub if you're at all concerned about that. Tallahassee doesn't have many venues in the true vein of "coffee culture" but the Redeye does fit the bill. Others that come to mind are Black Dog, All Saints and Brew & Bean. The Redeye has the benefit of being centrally located in Midtown and the largest of Tally's coffee shops besides All Saints. Many of the other coffee haunts around town are either too far flung, have very limited hours or simply aren't sporting the square footage for more than three tables. The Redeye is a solid balance between size, convenience of location, crowd and of course, product. The coffee is some of the better being offered in town and as the business is owned by a local church (Element3 or E3), it's all Fair Trade which is a plus in my book. It's slightly more pricey for it than you might be used to at a community coffee shop but still very reasonable and right on par with the corporate places. As I mentioned they're owned and operated by a church which normally I wouldn't be all that comfortable knowing I was subsidizing but their proceeds go towards a number of humanitarian relief programs in West Africa which placates me somewhat. While you will see plenty of bibles and the occasional priest collar the clientele is typically a healthy mix between church members and students/other locals. A handful of times I've been a little irked at overhearing some fairly insensitive religious rhetoric from someone at a nearby table, but then again they probably feel the same when I or someone else is picking up a date next to them. That happens here just as frequently; there's plenty of socializing if that's what you're interested in. Coffee shops are often a great place to make a first connection and here is no exception. One last thought, the staff is a mixture of paid employees and church volunteers (volunteers wear the red aprons). The volunteers seem typically short-term in commitment so they don't often have much training which can sometimes back the line up quite a bit. Just keep that in mind rather than getting upset and leaving which I've seen a few times. read more

I'm a tea kind of guy and this place doesn't disappoint. Decent tea selections at very fair prices. Even with fair prices this place donates a good percentage of their funds to help others. The staff is extremely friendly & helpful. The internet is free and fairly quick. Cloth seats are showing their age, but so am I. Over all it's a great place to get a little work done or have a quick casual business meeting. If they had more parking it would be even better. read more

I met a client here while traveling on business. It was a Thursday morning around 10am. The place was packed but there was a table available to sit at. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte with Skim Milk. I always add a pinch of cinnamon on my lattes and it was probably one of the best I've ever had in my life. I hate wasting so I asked for the drink to be served in a ceramic cup and they were able to do so. I liked the coffee so much I have been thinking about it all day today. :) The only con to this place is it is in a busy location with a bunch of other restaurants so there is limited parking. There is a larger lot on the other side of the building but it gets pretty packed too. Still worth it in my opinion! read more

Great coffee! The quality of their coffee beans is very good. I really appreciate the carefully sourced, single origin,fair trade, organically grown thing. It's not just a hyped up fad- you can really taste and feel the difference. I usually stick with a boring cup of black coffee but occasionally venture out and their baristas are great. The honey-lavender latte is amazing!! I, personally, don't love the atmosphere. It seems a little sterile for me and I don't find the chairs super comfortable but I usually get it to go anyway. They also sell a variety of baked goods and even some packaged sushi to snack on. They sell Dreaming Cow yogurt which is the best yogurt around from the Thomasville area. I only wish they were open on Sunday-that's a weird day for a coffee shop to be closed but I can always go to Black Dog on Sundays. read more
