I very rarely leave reviews, but just need to with this one: James has cleaned our carpets a few times, each time making notes on how our carpet is fairing, and what he did with cleaning products, etc. This last time he (and Luke) came to clean I asked for a deep clean as we've had more spots than usual (due to our dog and lots of pee from a potty training toddler;). They got up ALL the spots. Even the urine-soaked place by the door that I thought would never come out!! And James offered to come back to put more treatment on it if it resurfaced (so far it hasn't). I don't think I will ever use another carpet cleaning company again. I'm so happy with the personalized approach James and his family use to bring such quality (and green products) to their business. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I will chime in with my great experience with Esteam! They were easy to contact through Yelp (which makes it that much easier when that's where you found them in the first place), and super helpful. I was giving a large rug to my in-laws because it didn't fit in our new house, but would be perfect in theirs. But who wants to give their family a dirty rug? Esteam's prices were incredibly reasonable - pro tip: it's cheaper to have it done at your house vs in the shop, so that's what we did. Delivered it to the in-laws over the weekend, and Esteam came out and cleaned it, along with a smaller rug that had been in its place (because they have a minimum charge we were trying to hit). The guy that came out (Paul) was quick and efficient, and called me when they were done to arrange payment. I'm always impressed when businesses communicate well across the board - in this case, when I told Yvonne I wanted to pay, it made it to the person actually doing the cleaning, so he didn't try to make my mother in law pay before he left. She runs an in home day care, so he basically came in, cleaned, and left, all without disrupting her - she didn't even know he was gone until I called her to see how it looked! Esteam destroyed my brand new marble sink. The sink has a hidden drain that can't be accessed like a normal sink and they kept dumping all the debris from my floors down that sink, including pieces of styrofoam. Naturally, the drain became completely blocked and it took three plumbers and more than the cost of the Esteam service to repair, which was only fixed by breaking a piece of the drain off. So I now I am at a loss of thousands. I spoke to the Esteam owner who was abusive, but did offer to refund me the plumbing costs, but then never honored that promise. Stay far away from this dishonest company! read more

This review is a little late, but wanted to share my experience. I had the carpets in my small apartment cleaned about 1-2 months ago, and selected Esteam based on other Yelp reviews. I spoke with the owner Brian over the phone, got an estimate and set up an appointment. On the appointment day, Paul arrived on time as promised. He described that the cleaning would take about 30-45 minutes. I had to leave for work, and my neighbor kept an eye on things. When I arrived home, there was quite a strong citrus scent. I had asked about this, and was, indeed told that there would be a 'faint odor'. I am extremely sensitive to smell, so I found the odor a bit strong. It lasted about 24 hours. I also noted there were still some stains remaining, and the hallway still looked trampled down. I was disappointed about this, and chose to call and speak with Brian. He was prompt in returning himself to check out my complaints. To his credit, he worked hard to remove the remaining, stubborn stains, and he noted that some were permanent. Despite this, he was able to minimize them. He then re-cleaned the hallway, but also noted that the carpet was over 13 years old and a high traffic area. Not all that much could be done to restore this area of carpet. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the level of commitment to customer service, response to concerns, and dedication to quality work. My carpet has never looked better, and I will certainly use Esteam again. And it is evident that owner Brian values his business and providing great service to his customers. Take note: their website offers a 15% first time customer discount; however, there is a $125 minimum, and this discount does not apply to that minimum. Technician Paul explained that to me, and admitted that they need to change to website to clarify this. read more

We didn't think it was possible for our carpet to look this good. Our white carpet was stained with food spills, pet stains, dirt and several "mystery" stains. After being cleaned by Esteam our carpets look as good as new. Clean carpets change the look of everything in the home. Would highly recommend Esteam to family and friends. These guys are the best of the best. We put our old carpet through a lot: a mud-loving big dog, a long-haired drooly cat, and a toddler who loves berries, especially pitching them from his high chair and later stomping them, like wine grapes, until they're basically part of the carpet fibers. The carpet ends up stained, hairy and smelly. Then Esteam shows up (after what's always an easy, pleasant scheduling experience) and two hours later it doesn't even look like kids and pets live here. The Esteam guys are polite, professional, prompt and a pleasure to work with. From the minute he came to the door (right on time BTW), I could tell he was different than most other service people. Truly deserving 5 stars! Prompt, straightforward communication from the quoting process throughout the finishing of the job. Very detailed explanation of what would be done, what is covered and cost. Cost estimate was very accurate and it helped in not needing another appointment to determine how much it would actually cost. Scheduling was very easy and I was given a two hour window for arrival, which worked well. They called two days ahead of time to remind me of the appointment and then the technician called close to the time of arrival. Lucas (?) was very efficient in explaining the process when he arrived, listening to my areas of concern and expectations. His explanations were detailed and professional. Awesome service from Esteam! We used them to clean 3 area rugs that we had never been professionally cleaned. One had terrible pet odors. They came to the house to bid and pick up. We got a great education about each rug; it's clear they are incredibly knowledgeable about their craft. They can clean your rugs at home, too, but we opted for them to take to their facility for maximum outcome due to the pet odors. The rugs came back gorgeous and odor free. Outstanding experiences with Esteam both times we have used them. We used them our first time when we moved out of a home we were renting. The home was out in Camp Meeker and had some special circumstances. They made every step amazingly easy they were truly professional, kind and courteous throughout the entire process. Today James and Kyle came to our home to clean our carpets again after our first experience I wouldn't call anyone else. We recently were fortunate enough to buy our own home and got our three year old son two dogs. He loves his "woofys" while James and Kyle were cleaning the carpets my sons dogs were outside wrestling and one dogs collar got tangled with the other dogs lower jaw and started choking one dog and they were stuck my 8 month pregnant wife ran outside to try to untangle them and could not get them untangled. The collar was so tight poor molly couldn't breath my wife yelled for help, since I was at work I wasn't there to help but James and Kyle were. They came running downstairs and leaped into action. One ran to try to find some scissors while the other one got to work untangling the dogs. They got them freed up just in time Molly was really struggling not being able to breath. Well, I'm impressed. James did 4 rooms in our home yesterday with three different types of carpet. The one in our bedroom had really gotten grungy because we've had our old dog sleeping beside our bed lately and it was as dirty in that area as you can imagine. Whatever James used, it's now cleaner than it's been since it was new 8 years ago. Wow. And for what I consider a very reasonable price. Professional, polite, and careful. First off, Cal Steam did a great job cleaning my carpets in my apartment. I also have to give them a serious shout out because they managed to make it out to clean on a very short notice! But unfortunately my place was left rather dirty. There were black marks on my walls, front door, and kitchen counter tops. But, after letting the office manager know about my experience. The owner personally called me and was very professional and apologetic. He insisted he never gets these types of complaints, and I honestly believe him. My experience with this company was what the rating sums up: okay, but not great. We scheduled with CSC to have our carpets cleaned at 1:00pm. The person whom I spoke with told me 1:00pm--I know this because I am very familiar with time windows, and I was surprised that I wasn't given a time window. Because of this, my girlfriend and I worked hard to move all of the furniture into our kitchen by 1pm. Nobody had shown up by 2pm, so I decided to give a call to see what was happening. Here is where things became interesting. I called the business, and nobody answered. I left a message. A half-hour later, I called again, and left another message, and I followed up with an email. Then, at a little before 3pm, I called the business three times, and received no answer each time. My girlfriend suggested that we use her phone to call the business, as they may be avoiding my calls. She called from her phone, and the secretary picked up on the second ring. That miffed me a bit. The secretary explained to me that there was a time window of 1-3pm, but the carpet cleaners wouldn't be there until 3:45pm or so. I was frustrated about this because we needed to move our furniture back into the room that night, as I had to work early the next day, which was WHY I had agreed to a 1pm clean time. I explained that I was frustrated about this, and the secretary repeatedly avoided my concern by replying with, "They do a WONDERFUL job--just wait and see!" My concern wasn't about what kind of job they did--I was frustrated that they would be here so late! I felt that the secretary avoided my frustration and cloaked it by trying to change the subject. We left our house, and the cleaners came in on their own. When we returned, we noticed that they left no invoice and no care instructions, which I found to be somewhat unprofessional. Also, a number of spots in our bedroom resurfaced. When they called for payment, we explained that the spots had resurfaced, and that we hadn't received an invoice. The secretary (same person) told me that they would come back out, and bring an invoice. We scheduled a time for the cleaner to come back out. The cleaner came out two hours earlier than scheduled (they gave us a 3-5pm time window this time, and he showed up at 1pm), and we weren't ready for him. However, it seems that he did a nice job the second time around. I understand that spots sometimes resurface, and he was very professional in his demeanor. However, we had forgotten about the invoice, and he never gave us one. I just contacted them about sending me an invoice for the second time. Three suggestions, CSC, if you read this: you asked for my email address, and I gave it to you. So first, send a time confirmation to your clients via email. That way, you are on the same page as your client, and you have proof of your time commitment. Second, always leave an invoice and care instructions. Third, call your clients if you are going to be late. We won't use their service again, although they did a nice job with our carpets. read more

I was able to get California Steam Clean to come and do the job quickly and also bring my dryer back in my house from outside. James went far beyond my expectations to make sure my carpet and my grout was cleaned perfectly. He even came back after noticing one of the grout was painted over to remove the paint and re-do the cleaning so that it would be perfect. We would like to recommend California Steam, not only for their cleaning service, but for their flooring and painting services also. We had them come to floor and paint a 2100 sq foot house. They helped us find great carpeting and Vinyl tiling that worked well with the paint we had decided upon. We were happy with the work and detail. Oddly, within a few days a strange defect occurred in the carpet throughout the house. Within less than 2 weeks they were out with new carpeting and installed it, all with no cost to us. They also fixed a couple of things on the wall above the microwave and on the ceiling. The job was done very well! You cannot tell they fixed it. They also did several other fixes with the walls and corners that turned out very well. We felt we received a great new look for a reasonable price! We were so happy! And then, one night, I spilled a bucket, yes pretty much a bucket, of paint on the bottom of the stairs and in front of the stairs. They came out the next day to try and clean it up. But after 4 washes, we all decided it wasn't going to clean up. It was the weekend, but on Monday morning Ernie was out and re-carpeted the area. It looks wonderful!! The estimate for this was so reasonable. No charge for the carpet itself of course. Thanks to the crew in general, Ernie for great flooring and Jose for keeping in touch and helping to make this happen fast. read more

Brian did an awesome job. The carpet looks even better than when we moved into our rental... he even did post cleaning spot treatment (on the tough ones) to make sure that he got them all out. He squeezed us into an appointment that best fit our needs and stuck to his over the phone quote even though it took a little while longer than expected because of the carpet age. No need to stay at the house while Brian works, he is a trustworthy and honest guy! I would highly recommend Brian to clean anything from an apartment to a large house.
