Always a great experience. Owner is prompt and very communicative. They have last minute orders as well which is super convenient. It's a home based business that brings out the items to your car but also have a delivery option for a small fee. My dog is a big Frenchie and their small cake was plenty. Prices are very reasonable.

Sooo happy I stumbled upon Redondo Dog! I usually go to the Dog Bakery but its a bit of a drive. Needless to say, I'm in love with RD treats & they have my continued business. So today was my dad's dog's birthday and he asked me to find a dog cake this morning for today. I was going crazy trying to find a place that makes dog cakes when I finally decided to go on yelp and found Redondo Dog. I texted him early in the morning and got a response a few hours later saying he could make one. I ordered the cake at 9 and was able to pick it up at 11:30. Absolutely using Kool Dog again and recommending them to everyone! Mark was gracious and patient with me as I was taken aback and confused when I got to the old location in Redondo Beach and saw that they were no longer there. Panicked and at my wits end I called the number on the door and Mark was so nice and accommodating. (Im sure he just wanted me to STFU lol) My OEB was turning 2 yesterday and like always, I do things at the last minute. My mother-in-law has used them in the past and I liked the pix & reviews here on yelp! I did notice there wasn't a physical address listed, but my mother in law just told me they're next to Bucca so not a problem, I'll just swing by and pick something up on my way home from running errands. Mark, told me he could deliver (for FREE) same day to my home. Literally by dinner time - 7pm. It was like 3pm as we were speaking! It almost made me faint. You can make my cake and deliver to me by dinner?! AWESOME! No muss no fuss, Mark took my order and address and said he will see me by 7pm. He was right on time with our little cake. He sent me a text saying my cake was on the way. Voila! Mark is there at 7 on the dot with our little 6" cake and Mark even got the whole greeting in Hawaiian to fit on there. PERFECT! My 2 year old baby dog and his 2 party mates loved it!! The 6" cake was more than enough for him and his 2 "aunties" (Mom in laws dogs). I last minute contacted Mark with Redondo Dog- requesting a cake for my boy's birthday! Prior to contact him - I called quite a few Petco's, Petsmart's, and a few other companies that normally carry cake products for animals (at least where I'm from in Indianapolis) figuring they would have one. . . I almost gave up simply because, even googling "dog cakes near me" brought up facilities that frankly said they didn't carry them, even if their website said they did (being in store purchase in the description.) My last call was to Redondo dog to which I didn't leave a message assuming they'd probably not be able to make a cake so last minute.... Mark contacted me back (pretty quickly,) and immediately told me he's able to assist. He asked the sizing, what I'd like on the cake, and etc. He was EXTREMELY kind, beyond helpful, and for being on such short notice... just absolutely astonishing!!! I can't thank him enough for giving me a call back, and being able to help me give Dallas a cake on his 5th birthday I also did sample some of the icing as well, and it was quite delicious. Dallas is an awkward boy when taking photos of him- but I can promise you he devoured the cake piece immediately after we cut a slice for him. 100000 + stars for Mark with Redondo Dog THANK YOU!!! read more

History

Established in 1999.

Redondo Dog is a family owned and operated business, originally called Kool Dog Kafe. What started as a dog bakery and dog boutique quickly expanded to include dog grooming and eventually dog walking services. Owners Mark and Azalea, husband and wife, were drawn to the pet industry for their connection with dogs and their passion for sharing this joy with others. Redondo Dog has come a long way and adapted to the changing environment but its family roots remain the same. Update July 2016: We have closed our physical location. We are now offering FREE same-day delivery for all birthday cake and treat orders! We continue to offer dog walking in the south bay area. The grooming salon has been relocated. Update June 2020: Curbside pickup is available in Carson. I accept Venmo @redondo-dog, cash, or check payable to Redondo Dog. Thank you!

Meet the Business Owner: Mark and Azalea F.

Mark and Azalea were just friends in middle school but years later they connected on Facebook and became husband and wife. They were drawn to the pet industry for their connection with dogs and their passion for sharing this joy with others. Mark was helping out part time as a teenager in the boutique and the grooming salon with his mother. Mark had such a great time, he decided to take on Redondo Dog as a full-time venture as soon as he graduated high school. Many of their clients witnessed Mark grow over the years from a teen to an adult. Azalea, who was focused on her children and career in the fitness industry, realized her fondness towards animals at an early age. She now channels her enthusiasm into dog walking and assistance in the grooming salon in her spare time. Mark and Azalea were married in 2013 and have started a growing family of their own, including children and pets.

The second time, they were closed, despite very recently promoting their new, later hours on social media. That's what makes it so frustrating. We're in the social media era. If you can use social media to promote new hours, you can also use it to let customers know you're closing early or won't be open. It takes less than a minute to post an update. Instead, customers are left wasting their time and gas showing up to a closed business. At this point, it honestly feels like they'd rather avoid posting that they're closed than risk looking bad online, even if that means inconveniencing customers who are relying on the hours THEY promoted. And unfortunately, even when the Carson location is open, the customer service hasn't been great. The younger staff rarely greet or welcome customers, and the overall energy just isn't very friendly or inviting. I hate even writing this because I genuinely love Sweet Red Peach and have so much love for the Inglewood location, but the Carson location is making the brand look BAD BAD BAD. I really hope management gets this location together because the quality of the product deserves a much better customer experience.

Stale bakery items on multiple occasions. My dog wouldn't eat them any of the times. I'm not sure how long their baked items sit in the display but I won't buy the baked items again. Wanted to return for a refund but no returns accepted for a refund. I ended up baking dog cookies at home which were fresh and soft. My dog loved baking at home and now I have a new recipe up my sleeve for dog treats. We celebrated my pups birthday with a pack of dogs and I shared my own baked dog cookies which I decorated myself. I made it more fresh and special. No more baked items from KoolDog for us. read more

Called with super short notice for a cake - usually, I bake them on my own, but didn't have time for this particular birthday. Mark was very friendly, and I was able to pick up a cute cake (small size) within a few hours. The process was really easy and price reasonable. I brought my pug, Chloe, in on Thursday 4/23 at 4pm. I've used their $80 grooming service three times prior with no issues. This visit was a completely different experience. I was told the service would take about 50 minutes. When I arrived, the groomer was still not finished, and I waited an additional ~20 minutes. The groomer (I believe his name was Drew) explained that he had cut one of Chloe's nails too short, which caused it to bleed for an extended period. I was obviously concerned, but still paid and left a tip and left. Since that visit, Chloe has developed multiple bumps across her body that appear to be a reaction to the products used. She has been extremely itchy, reluctant to walk, and has had a decreased appetite. This has been ongoing for several days. I reached out to the business to address this, especially as some of the bumps began to look worse. Despite explaining the situation, they declined to take any responsibility. I was also told they rotate between different grooming products depending on the groomer, which was concerning given that Chloe had no issues during her previous visits. I explained that I may need to take her to the vet due to the severity of her symptoms and that I didn't feel comfortable covering both the grooming cost and potential vet expenses given the outcome. Their response was that they would not provide a refund and the only thing offered was to return the $10 tip. Based on the other negative reviews, it appears that the owner is hard to work with and also lacks accountability. If you look at the attached screenshots, i still decided to disengage when she mentioned she was expecting. Regardless, she should have delegated her business to someone else while she is going through something extremely important while instead coming off as dismissive and lacking empathy. I'm very disappointed with how this was handled. Additionally, it took multiple days to confirm my appointment, and I had to follow up the day before to ensure it was still scheduled. Based on this experience, I would not return. Take a look at the screenshots and you be the judge.

We love going to your place and will continue go. 4. Because I believe it was just an accident and since my dog has been used to go there, I called them again for another grooming appointment. But the front desk lady kept on telling me there is no availability for my dog to go and would call me back later after she check for availability, but they never called me back. I called them many times during their business hours and even left a voice message, still, no one call me back. From this experience I realized these are their problems 1. No any policy of any kind of injury happened during their service for customers. They seem do not have any insurance cover any in store injury compensation. 2. Lack of professional customer training. The front desk people does not know how to deal or talk to customers when any injuries happened of the dogs in their care. 3. The grooming process is not transparent. As the customer we do not know who is actually grooming our dogs. The grooming progress is all behind the glass of back side of the store where we see nothing of what they do.
