I can't say enough positive things about my experience at Redondo Optometry with Dr. Sarah Frassato and her wonderful staff, Marisol and Hikari! From the moment I walked in, they were very friendly and helpful. Marisol and Hikari are very nice and make selecting glasses frames or getting set up for an exam very easy. Dr. Frassato is a very good optometrist who genuinely cares about her patients. She took the time to listen to my concerns about my hard lenses and recommended switching to soft, daily disposable lenses. The difference has been incredible! Computer monitor or distance is blurry. I should have gotten readers from the 99 cent store. Do yourself a favor and walk a few doors west and see Dr. Williams. After so many months delaying the inevitable, I needed more contacts and had to bite the bullet and go out into the real world. Dr. Hokama and her staff were very friendly and conscious with their safety precautions. Appointment times are spread out to minimize the number of people in the office while you're getting checked out in addition to temperature checks at the door and kindly reminding customers to wear face masks. I went in with a friend so I had theopportunity to watch their customer interactions with any walk ins. They greeted every customer with a cheerful hello and eagerly assisted with things ranging from fixing a lens popping out or picking up newly delivered glasses. I appreciated that they intentionally positioned customers to maintain social distancing. As for the appointment itself, Dr. Hokama has a great sense of humor and made me feel very comfortable. The office has all the expected vision technology and everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. Wouldn't it have been nice if RO treated me with a certain amount of decent customer respect? Well, they didn't. And, my Tiffany glasses that broke, well, they were disinterested in repairing. And, they told me the frames were no longer available. However, when I called the manufacturer, I was told they were available plus one year more warranty than what I was told by RO. Wouldn't it also have been nice for them to learn about my sphere of influence. Insert wink here.... Upon recommendation I went to see Dr. Hokama at Riviera Optometry. It had been a while since my last eye exam, and I have been experiencing eye fatigue, blurred vision, and just getting old. Getting to stare at multiple computer screens for 8+ hours a day is such a strain on the eyes. Throw in my intimate relationship with my iPhone, and that glowing insane box called a TV, and my eyes don't stand a chance...I need glasses. - The exam was pain-free and very thorough. Dr. Hokama was very nice, and explained everything going on. I've really never worn glasses or contacts and having an onset of vision problems is disconcerting. I feel a lot better now knowing that tired eyes are pretty normal at my age (not THAT old btw). - I have a very mild prescription but to make things even better she prescribed progressive lenses to aid night vision and full-field sharpness. - There's plenty of sexy frames to choose from. I was torn between the sporty look, the studious look, or the worldly business man look. - The office is nestled in the Trader Joe's Riviera shopping center. Definitely park across the street as the little retail lot is hard to get in / get out of. - Folks attended to me right away, no wait. Very little paperwork, and they explained all the pricing with my vision plan, etc. I would highly recommend this doctor and location...very, very good experience. ENJOY! read more

I loved the staff (5 Stars) and they are the reason I had been their customer for over seven years! After ten days of waiting, I called to check if my glasses were back. I was told that they were, but after being checked by the staff, they were returned to the lab to correct the focus. After another week (in total it was over 3 weeks) I received a phone call thinking my glasses are back! No! I was informed that the lab broke my frame. They blamed the frame was a bit old!! They were three years old! They were supposed to be good quality...I paid $600 for those frames! After a few talks, and me being their customer for over seven years, and the type who always bought frames at around $600 (whether sun glasses or regular glasses), the Dr. offered me to rebuy a "twin" frame at her cost price, which is $300! Then she reduced my payment to $250. Nice of her. When I realized they didn't have the frame in the store, I didn't want to wait an extra week or so for them to get it from wherever, I thought I could use the $250 towards a frame already in store. So, I picked a frame and the tag price was $225 which will make us even. I didn't asking what their cost price was. I thought that was a good solution for all. I'll move ahead, I'll forget the incident, tolerate having not had my new prescription for over three weeks, and I'll remain their customer. Unfortunately, Dr. H. refused! She asked her staff to charge $180 for a frame that cost $225! Did she forget she offered me a $600 frame for $250?! This does not make sense unless there must be a problem with that "twin" frame she was offering to sell to me! Goodbye. You lost a good customer, Dr. H. I'll take my good self to another business who appreciate long term customers and will refer my friends to the newer place! read more

Went in for my first eye exam in many years. Dr. Hokama and her staff were very professional and pleasant. The office is very clean with a large selection of glasses. The exam was quick and easy. I felt like I was given a thorough exam and treated respectfully. I needed mild reading glasses. Rather than urging me to buy a pair from her, Dr. Hokama suggested that I go buy a pair at the drugstore which would be significantly less expensive. Great place to come get an exam and a new pair of glasses. The young lady who welcomed us was extremely friendly and helpful. I asked about some frames and she spent 15 minutes helping me pick out the ones that fit and looked great. This little place is located in the TJ's/Starbucks shopping center in Riviera Village. There is plenty of parking in the town lot across the street. The doctor and staff are great. They're friendly and personable and willing to take every pair of glasses out of every display in the store for picky customers like me (even when they're almost at closing time). Dr. Ong took great care in giving me a thorough exam and was understanding with my distaste for the glaucoma testing machine ( I mean, who really gets it on the first try anyway?). They have an amazing selection of the most trendy and fashionable designer styles I've seen, a lot that were a bit pricey for me but also a lot of affordable styles. I chose a sweet pair with baby blue rims, brown sides and a rectangular shape. Well, honestly, it turned out to be a group decision with the doctor and both staff ( oh , I wish I got their names) assisting me in the frame choosing process. I am going back to pick up my contacts 3-5 days and my glasses 7-10 days post exam. I'll give the update on the fit and the service upon pickup. plus- they accept VSP insurance** ___________________________________ I got all my stuff, and pretty quickly- my exam was on Sat, the contacts were ready on monday and the glasses all ready to pick up by the middle of the week. read more

This place is terrible. One optometrist checked my eyes, ordered glasses for me, and they were totally wrong! Couldn't see a thing! She also said that I had a stigmatism (sp.?) in my right eye. I tried the other optometrist at the same office, she said that I had a stigmatism in my left eye. So, which eye is it?!!! I think I ended up paying $150 for glorified reading glasses that I could've gotten at the 99-cent store. Definitely NOT going back! read more

Love Dr. hokama, but just paid $154 for Nothing...my co-pay was $5. Then a picture insurance doesn't cover (the one thing I was warned about) $39.... So I was expecting $45 max....nope $110 to "fit" contacts and then "teach" me to use them...even though I opted not to get any!!! Wasn't warned about that at all!! In fact I've tried colored contacts before I could have passed on that and if I'd known just trying them was $50 I would've passed on that too. I love Dr Hokama but I'm not sure I'll ever go back. Feel totally robbed and scammed....cost co would be more staight forward and I don't have $150 to blow on non-essentials! Ask before you do anything. I came to Dr Hokama because I had itching and redness in my left eye. I had gotten an eyelash that had abraded my eye and had an infection! Yikes!! Dr Hokama was thorough with the exam and what she prescribed to get the best possible outcome. She is very caring and made sure that I had follow up visits to ensure that the scratch was healing properly. Everything healed well and I was very pleased with the care and attention I received. Love redondo optometry. Dr. hokama is beyond nice and we feel like family there. Everyone is wonderful and the office has a very spa like feel to it as opposed to the usual medical office feel of other places. They never try to "sell" you on anything and truly want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. I got glasses and contacts this year and am super picky about my glasses because I have such a high prescription. Once I got the glasses I ended up lowering the prescription for comfort and changing the frame to the same model but just 2mm smaller or something. All was done with a smile. In addition, I've tried all of the dailies contact brands in the past and none were as comfortable as my 2-week contacts but when I saw Dr. Hokama, she was able to find me dailies that worked. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. I have high standards for service and rarely think that a place deserves 5 stars on yelp but I think redondo optometry is one of those rare businesses that really cares about its customers and has great products and service too. Avoid this merchant at all costs... after taking our money for our son's eyeglasses, they called back 24 hours later demanding an additional $135.00 because they had a "mixup" on our insurance after their employee, Christina had spoken with our insurance company and after their employee, Marco took our money... the owner, Dr. Sandy Hokama was rude and hung up on me... Hands down, the BEST optometrist and glasses shopping experience I have had to date! I originally went in looking for sunglasses. I was politely asked by the staff if I was just browsing or if I needed assistance. Being the type that prefers to be left alone while I shop, I opted to ask for assistance if I needed it later. I have an unusually small-framed, heart/shaped face with prominent features. It is nearly impossible for me to find sunglasses I like! I found 2 pairs, and the friendly staff there helped me to narrow it down to a pair of Tory Burch ones that I absolutely LOVE! Since there is a way to process sunglasses through insurance (ask them about it!!), I bought them for just $23 out the door plus a free eye exam (covered by my insurance). The staff was ZERO PRESSURE, offered many solutions, and were genuinely fun people! I cane back a week later for my eye exam, but was able to leave day 1 with my sunglasses! I went for my eye exam today and WOW! The optometrist here is amazing! So sweet, and took all the time needed to educate me about my eyes and eye health. I felt there were more advanced exam equipment here than other places I have been in the past, and this made me feel more confident in the resulting prescription I received. In conclusion, I would highly recommend! Excellent selection of sunglasses and regular glasses, superbly friendly staff and doctor, beautifully decorated and modern facility, and right in the heart of Riviera Village. I had seen quite a few optometrists in my lifetime, but this is the hands down the best service I've ever gotten. Dr. Sandy is an amazing optometrist. She is very smart and explained everything to me. She also has a team of dedicated, attentive, and kind professionals to serve your needs. Upon walking into her office, you will notice a clean and beautiful office that is tastefully decorated. Unlike the other offices I had visited, they have the most up to date equipment, the best selection of eyeglass frames, and they use the latest technology to take care of you. Just to give you an example, I have some issue with my vision, and they scan my eye with the Daytona retinal scanner, which use the lasers and mirror to scan the back of the eye.
