The service was fine and they did what they needed to do but what I noticed is they did not clean the machines or have any plastic wrappings around it which I noticed as soon as they started checking me, then a few days later I developed what seems to be contact dermatitis above and in my eyelids right under my eyebrow which is very concerning and has stayed with me for a couple weeks. Which leaves me to question how clean they keep the place. I personally would not go here for that reason alone. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Oku for about 10 years now and she and her team continue to be the very best in eye care. Prior to meeting Dr Oku, I had seen over 6 other optometrists and ophthalmologists in search of someone who could fit me with contacts lens that were both clear and comfortable. I wear hard gas permeable lens which are apparently less common. None of these docs could fit me well or cared to try and make adjustments. I had resigned to the fact that I would have to fly back home to Hawaii to see my childhood eye doc who originally fit me with great contacts. Then I met Dr Oku and her staff. They not only were warm and welcoming, but extremely caring and understanding of my situation. Dr Oku spent a lot of time (probably close to an hour) asking me questions, examinating my eyes, and addressing my concerns. She reassured me that she understood and would order contacts that she felt would be best. She also reassured me that if the contacts ordered were not a perfect fit, she could make adjustments and exchange them. Well, when I put on the contacts, the comfort and fit were perfect (feels like you have nothing in your eye) and the vision was great!! Over the past 10 years that I have been seeing Dr Oku, my prescriptions have changed and I now need multifocal lens. I have sometimes had to report to Dr Oku that a lens was not quite right. They will have me come right back in, ask questions, order a replacement and make sure I get the perfect lens! I have also gotten several pairs of glasses through their office, all fitted perfectly in their office. They have a great selection of frames and can make thin lightweight lens. So, if you have had a tough time getting a perfect fit of contact lens or glasses, look no further than Dr Oku and her team. She now takes care of my wife and kids as well! read more

As someone who has worn glasses since they were 3, I'm pretty choosy about my eye doctors. Dr. Oku is great. She has a friendly and warm demeanor and her eye exam was thorough. She didn't blink an eye (ha..sorry) at my somewhat complicated prescription and I had my glasses and trial contacts within three weeks. The office itself is on the smaller side, but the staff is super friendly and they have a good size selection of frames to choose from in-house. So I'm preparing to leave on a two week road trip, to both vacation and visit colleges with my teenage son, when I realize I've got only one fresh pair of contacts left. I immediately go to my computer and find one of the gazillion emails I've received from 1800Contacts prompting me to reorder and submit an order for a small quantity of lenses, agree to overnight shipping so I have them for the trip. I get a call this morning from 1800Contacts stating they cannot fill my order because my Optometrist would not authorize the prescription on record. That they would need updated perspiration to ship the order... understand here, that I am using the same glasses and contact lenses prescribed based on my last exam without issue. So I call Dr. Williams' office, explain the situation yada yada, after which the gal on the phone gives me the "office policy" speech about needing to see patients regularly blah blah blah... I explain, as above; same glasses, same contact lenses, no problems, need contacts for the trip etc. She says she'll need to speak with Dr. Williams and get back to me. I'm thinking "cool, Dr. Williams is a cool dude, he'll get it..." Well I guess I missed the mark. In pure Soup Nazi fashion, the answer five hours later at 4:30 PM was "no contacts for you!" I guess contacts, access to an unlimited supply is the leverage they have on your wallet... Thankfully there's no Optometry Gestapo that's going to break down my door and take my glasses if I don't schedule an exam soon... So for the next two weeks during my vacation with my son, hiking in the wood, fishing, water sports etc., it's either glasses or a soft focus world where I can't even read my watch. When I get home, I'll don my perfectly good glasses and start shopping for a new Optometrist. Thanks Mark! read more

Going without needed eyeglasses has its advantages: can't see dust on the furniture & can't see the wrinkles on my face, I mean the fine lines. Disadvantage: the TV is blurry. Can't see wrinkles on the actors either, why does everybody look so young? Oh wait...... So I decided it was time to make sure I don't have some creepy degenerative eye disease. No, I just need glasses, according to Dr. Oku. She's young (no fine lines yet), pretty, professional, patient, with a very gentle chairside manner. I was lured by her string of 5-star reviews, to which I add one more. As eye doctors go, Dr. Oku's the real deal. She diagnosed a chronic condition that I'd been struggling with and recommended treatment protocols that have been very effective. At one point, I had an emergency and she quickly fit me into her schedule. It's a great relief to have an excellent doctor with a 15 minutes' drive who is so knowledgeable and committed to maintaining eye health. I have not had my eyes checked in over a decade. I found Riviera Village Optometry based on Dr. Oku's Yelp reviews, but I actually saw Dr. Wiliams. The front desk lady that handles the phones was always so pleasant, even when I reschedule 3 times. I really appreciate that Dr. William was exactly on schedule. I am so used to waiting way past my appointment time for doctors. My appointment was smooth and easy. He did not, in anyway, pressure me to get corrective eye glasses, but since I have such great insurance I bought a new pair for night driving. Dr. Davis did, however, exert some slight pressure for me to actually wear my glasses by telling me it would not make my eyes weaker. I still decline to during the day, but wear them at night when my stigmatism interferes. Bottom Line: A very nice and professional practice with a friendly, neighborhood feel! read more

I could not ask for a better optometrist! I have been with Dr. Oku ever since she started at the Riviera Village office. She is definitely very thorough and detail-oriented. I definitely feel like I am in good hands. In particular, I have avery difficult prescription for contacts because of an astigmatism and Dr. Oku always informs of my options and the newest lenses out there. At my most recent check-up, I got fitted with a great fitting lens. Yay! I can wear contacts now! And in terms of getting fitted for glasses, her office has a great collection and I can certainly count on her style sense to match me with frames that are the most flattering. Dr. Oku is a great doctor, very helpful, very patient, very nice. Really what more could you ask for. I went to her last year and was thinking about getting contacts. I ultimately got both contacts and glasses from her and I love both. I should mention that I am really picky. She talked me through the pros and cons of contacts, helped me with finding the right kinds and with learning to put them in. She gave me samples for three different types, there were things I liked about two of them and on the phone she talked me through what was the most important and helped me break the tie. I was super happy wiht her recomendation. Also her staff is nice and professional. They make you feel very welcome and also give honest but nice opinions about "the look of glasses" on you.
