May I just say that as great as their Carson City location is, the Fernley restaurant is unfortunately just as poor. I've been in four times for lunch. Place is slow on weekdays but once seated, just try to flag down a server. I hate writing bad reviews but the service is the biggest problem. Servers who are either undertrained or just don't listen. This last time we stopped in for lunch, I just ordered a bowl of the soup de jour while my daughter ordered a cup of the same soup and a wood fired pizza. I told the server that I d like my soup when her pizza was served, not before, because it was my meal. What do ya know, both soups at the same time and both big bowls. My daughter mentioned that she'd only ordered a cup and I repeated that I really wanted my soup WHEN her pizza came out, as it was my lunch. The server took mine away without comment. When the pizza arrived, we kinda gave it a few minutes before finally walking over to the bar to ask where our soup might be. The answer??? You'll have to ask your server. I finally found her and asked after my soup. Her response? Oh, I thought you said you didn't want it. I was nice but repeated my original order again. My soup finally arrived as my daughter was finishing what she could eat of her pizza. When the bill arrived, charge for two bowls. I paid it, but subtracted difference between cup and bowl from service tip. I sure hope they get a handle on service because it is such a delightful design and atmosphere, with an epic beer selection and menu. But until they do, I'll stick to visiting their carson city location and just keep driving when I hit fernley. read more

Out of all the food we ate, my favorite was the spinach artichoke dip (which is an appetizer) so not really a good sign. Chicken sandwich was extremely dry. Brisket sandwich was decent. Well, now that management is decided folks they don't like Tesla drivers anymore. I've stopped going there. That's right every time I stop only drive-through there 12 to 18 times a year, but I used to make a point of buying something because I had such a nice bathrooms and such a nice people the ribs are actually really good. It's a pretty nice sports bar, but now there's all sorts of nasty notes about Tesla drivers so I just go next-door to the casino. I haven't bought a thing there for three months. not sure what kind of business puts Tesla chargers in their parking lot and then tells them to piss off when they want to spend money. Red's in Carson City has been a longtime favorite, and now there's a Red's in Fernley. We've had so many positive experiences at the Carson City location that our expectations were hopeful for the Fernley establishment. We read the lackluster reviews about diminished service for out-of-town patrons but went in with an open mind and healthy appetites. The place was pretty empty, with two parties finishing up and 5-6 employees conversing near the bar when we walked in. Unfortunately, we had a similar experience as described in the reviews; it was almost uncanny. After sitting at a booth with no napkins or silverware, we observed three staff wander through the area where we were seated and never return to help us. After about 10 minutes, a server came and apologized for the wait- he never introduced himself, which is too bad cause when he brought the check, he gave us a 30% discount due to the initial wait; I would have given him credit here since his gesture warranted two stars instead of one. He asked about drinks and brought us the requested water with straws. I was extra thirsty and finished one the waters immediately, it sat empty the rest of the meal. I started drinking my friend's water, but it tasted weird. I ordered a Flat Iron steak - the full $31 version. The meat was cooked as requested, but the cognac gravy was jelly in texture, the steamed veggies were mostly cold, and the portion was noticeably small. The mashed potatoes were good, but they were not of good value for the price. When he brought the entrees, we had no utensils and had to wait a few more minutes to eat. The staff gave us the feeling that we were an inconvenience. We'll probably go somewhere else next time we're out that way. read more

During my travels along 80, I saw a huge sign about this restaurant. I was a tad bit sketched only because the reviews were throwing it off. I gave it a shot. After walking in, it was strange. Locals know the community but not new visitors. Not seen an Asian before? Lmao your going to get visitors all the time. I'm giving an extra star because the food was alright. Anyways, tried out their appetizers. The mozzarella sticks were delicious, fresh and seasoned. The spinach artichoke dip was great! The baked tortilla chips were fresh and soft enough to enjoy the dish. Lastly, I had their Nevada Cheesesteak. The toppings and meat was cooked but to me the sandwich was bland. Try using a different piece of bread that will make the sandwich better. Overall, my stay to visit was alright. Service was not too bad. It was locals that gave me unwelcoming vibes, I assume they are locals not sure who knows. I'd come back for another visit next time I'm passing through Fernley. read more

I was here a while back shortly after they opened and ordered curbside pickup. As you can see in my original review, it could've gone a lot better. Today was my first time back since then and this time, I was able to go inside and sit down for a traditional lunch service. We were greeted and seated immediately after walking in and introduced to our waitress; who was very friendly and prompt. I again went with the brisket grilled cheese and my wife ordered the tri tip plate. Both were pretty good, but I found myself thinking the same thing as last time (decent, but nothing that stands out). For the Fernley area, this isn't a bad place to eat. A lot of the other restaurants are of the fast food variety (some better than others), so Red's is one of the few where you can sit down for a traditional dinner service. While I wouldn't go out of my way for Red's, I would come back again due to the friendliness of the staff and the decent food. read more

Been here 3 times and all 3 times were a total bummer!!! I believe in giving places a try a few times because sometimes people and places are just having bad days. I work in the industry so I know how it goes. I also hate yelp reviews the first time we went the bartender was a complete asshole when my boyfriend found plastic in his burger. Second time food was cold and sat in the window for a long time, fries definitely not fresh. The third time I had hair in my food!! Our server was young, funny and a doll. Came her tonight for dinner. My family and I were in town for a softball tournament. We were seated immediately after walking in. I was not impressed with the food. It was just ok, I was more disappointed in the service. Our food came before the utensils. We sat there waiting for our waitress to come back. Our waitress didn't check on us. We continuously asked other waitresses for our drink refill, utensils and finally our bill. My sister and her husband came in from California. We ordered 4 dinners. What in the world was given to us? We all took a bite and were done. 2 orders of burgers were to be no Mayo and Well Done. At this point, i am the only one to blame, for continuing to keep coming back to these dumps, especially after how horrible their food is... Now it's overflowing into the bar area. When, oh WHEN will i learn!? So, let's start off walking in the door... Our bar seating is dead ahead, about 15 feet from the entrance... So, i took it and walked to the bar, and threw in on the bartop, where it will stay until the barback or bartender cleans up after I leave (which is a shot in the dark, considering i had dried and stuck on food on the banister of the bar top). I ordered a side salad with "balsamic vinegarette". I didn't take a picture of it, but if you'd like to see what it looks like, just go look at the "Redi-Pac" salads at Walmart. The dressing wasn't balsamic, at all. It was like some Asian type of substance. Ohhhbut thank GAWD they actually had chicken this time. Served with their special white sauce. They should've drenched the chicken quarter in it instead of 2 squirts from the sauce bottle. To be fair, i could actually taste the "smoke" they perpetuate, really only in the skin, but it was there. The actual chicken itself had been cooked a while ago, sat in a cambro, and I'm pretty sure it was zapped in the microwave.. No tenderness at all to speak of. Remember being a kid, opening a can of tuna, draining it, and eating it right out of the can? That dry texture? That was the chicken. It's ok, i have a dental appointment tomorrow so I'll just get the remnants waterpicked out. It's was a great move, opening another Red's in Fernley from a business standpoint. Not many options in that small town, so the risk of complete failure is miniscule. But c'mon, just like the other Red's review I've posted, bartenders just HAVE to do better seeing how the food is less than mediocre. But again, I don't suppose it's fair for me to write this review, after writing a review of the one in Carson City, and obviously a glutton for punishment by going into Red's when I do. People will ask "Well why you keep going?" And my answer to that? Strictly convenience. When you're on the verge of eating a turf burrito from the Golden gate gas station, pretty much at that point anything will do. So at least make sure the drinks are on point and give the customer what they politely ask for. read more

Was very excited to try this BBQ joint. It is very unique inside. Great Menu, lots to choose from. We were able to split a pulled pork sandwich, with onion strings and very tasty coleslaw in a tortilla cup. It was plenty to eat. We just really liked our waitress Erin, she was so friendly, helpful with ordering. The place is very clean, service fast. I would have given them a 5 Star rating, was not happy with them opening at 3 pm. I do know there is issues with getting help. Sure hope next time we can go for a great lunch. read more

I agree with all reviews. I ordered a double plate and a burger. It cost 47.10. My double plate came with crunchy onions, coleslaw, beans, tri-tip and 4 barbecue ribs. The ribs were dry and tough. The beans, well your better off eating a can of Bushes baked beans. The coleslaw wasn't bad. The Tri-tip lacked flavor. I ended up throwing half my plate in the trash. I was starving because I left to go shopping and didn't have anything to eat. I was tired after shopping and looking forward to not having to cook. Decided to try Reds for the very first time. Looking at all that bad reviews ,that are almost exactly like mine. How do this business stay in business? Wow absolutely wow the food here is amazing!! Who would have thought Cesar salad on a pizza but it is absolutely amazing. Our waitress Michelle was phenomenal and the bar tender Cody made spectacular drinks and kept them flowing. We tried this place for take out. They watch for your car & bring it out. We got bacon burger, double platter BBQ w ribs & tri tip and the chicken caesar flatbread as an app. I was going to give 4 stars based on food alone but my husband reminded me the staff was extremely friendly so I bumped it up to 5 stars for service. The burger was nothing to write home about, but certainly good. Then again I ordered a pretty basic burger not a specialty. Fries were above average and very tasty. Hubby liked the BBQ platter but said the coleslaw was lacking. For me what made the meal was the chicken caesar flatbread. Absolutely delicious. Then again I love pizza and caesar salad seperately so maybe that's a no brainer for me. Impressed for fernley that's for sure. We'd go again read more

The first time I came here was quite a while ago, not too long after it opened. My wife and I did NOT enjoy the food, with hardly anything redeemable that we could find. Recently though, a friend of mind said he enjoyed the food here, and I did smell some good BBQ in the Raley's parking lot coming over from Red's, so I talked my wife in to giving the place another shot. Maybe ... perhaps ... they'd gotten their act together and we could finally add another restaurant to our list of places to go in Fernley (which has so very few places to eat, sadly). We ordered to-go. Let me start with the positives: - The staff was kind and prompt - The food came out quick (less than 15 minutes). - The fries are really, REALLY good! - The ranch dip is also great! - The coleslaw, I dare say, is some of the best I've had! - Kid said he liked his chicken tenders and fries. - The beans were good, and with chunks of sausage. Now, on to the, uh ... not ... positives: - The brisket was very dry, unappetizing to look at. Barely edible. - The ribs were simply 'okay' ... slightly overcooked, and barely much meat on the bone (see picture). - The 1/2 of a slow-cooked chicken was easily the worst part of the meal. Just looking at it made my mouth dry. The skin was like leather (you can see it in the picture, it looks soooo awful!). It didn't taste like chicken, either. I don't know how that is accomplished. - The pulled pork, instead of being included with the rest of the meat (where there was ample space, which is odd because you'd think a 1/2 rack of ribs and 1/2 chicken would really fill up a to-go box), was in a Styrofoam cup. It lacked much flavor, and I would swear to you it was cooked in boiling water if it weren't for the grease ... and the grease was the only flavor to be had. - The mash potatoes were gummy. Not utterly horrible, but certainly not good, either, and after the experience above we just weren't into eating this, either. -The BBQ sauce didn't taste like glorified ketchup this time. It tasted like it was made from a cocktail sauce base. Totally serious. Cocktail sauce. Yes, like what you dip cold shrimp in. Ugh. After tasting it with a spoon, that was my first thought ... I tried it again, yes, still tastes like cocktail sauce. I dipped the spoon again and gave to my wife for a taste. She said "It, uh, it ... tastes like that sauce you dip shrimp into" and I'm like "Cocktail sauce" and she replies "Yes, cocktail sauce! Is that better or worse than the ketchup they sauce they served us last time?". Me: "Um, I think ... it's ... worse?" All-in-all, I can safely say this establishment will NOT be getting a third chance. I really, really, wanted to like this place. In fact, I actually NEED to like it. I am so desperate for good food in this town, so it's doubly devastating for a place to fail to meet even basic expectations with a menu that is so utterly basic as BBQ. It's meat, cooked over fire, with sauce rubbed on it. This should not be hard to mess up. It doesn't have to be amazing, it just needs to be edible.
