Tried the loaded baked potato, chicken tortilla, clam chowder, and a grilled cheese sandwich. The soups were great - no complaints. My least favorite was the clam chowder, it was a bit peppery for my liking but still good. They're not the best I've ever had, but super satisfying and I'll definitely be back to try more! The grilled cheese was the surprise winner of it all. Cheddar on sourdough - simple but amongst the best I've ever had. It didn't need all the extra fancy stuff, I liked it simple. Nice strong cheddar flavor on a yummy bread :). Prices were reasonable considering inflation . $5.75 I think for a cup, $10.50 for a bowl and $13.50 for a bread bowl. I should've asked the price of the flight because I definitely want to try that. The bread bowl filled me up for lunch, but idk that the soup alone would have. Location is inside Glazed and Confused donuts, to the left of CVS. It's a bit hidden - a true hidden gem. Service was good. Order at the counter. We got the food to-go, but there are about four 4-person tables inside to eat at. They also have an arcade type game and small kids area with some random play stuff and books.

I ordered a bowl of the Chicken & Dumplings, and my wife had the Vegetable Beef & Barley. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. My Chicken & Dumpling was a thick creamy soup with chunks of chicken and dumplings that had great flavor. It was very filling. My wife raved about her Beef & Barley. The grilled cheese sandwich was awesome and a great compliment to the meal. We will definitely be going back to try some other flavors. I see that they have added a selection of fries....gotta try the poutine....hopefully, they serve it old school without battering/deep frying the curds. Would definitely return and recommend.

It has the perfect mix of small town diner WITH affordability. Prices aren't inflated to the moon like the surrounding restaurants. They have a bar inside too! Breakfast was surprisingly good--especially since I'm not much of a breakfast person. I ordered the Great Beginnings, and everything was on point: good-quality bacon, eggs cooked just right, and even the hash browns (which I normally don't like) were cooked really well. I also grabbed some sweet chili wings, and they were pretty tasty too. Service ok; they were kind of busy for a small restaurant. I heard they even provided food for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving, which is an amazing gesture--especially from a small, family-owned restaurant. Really impressive!

Soup and a sandwich is always a good choice on a winter's day for lunch. Today's soup was a sweet potati lentil. Given it's still summer, I opted for their chipotle bbq pulled pork grilled cheese on Ciabatta bread. While I was not dazzled by its visual appearance, it definitely hit the spot. I initially balked over the half sandwich size, but after eating it, I concluded a full size sandwich with that much meat and cheese would've involved antacids two hours later. The good...The ladies running the truck were quite friendly. The proportion size was perfect for lunch. I didn't feel like I over ate. The price point was reasonable and the menu had some options for the health conscious. The bad...I really would've liked to see some kind of green side (salad, slaw, etc...) to accompany my sandwich. I would even be willing to pay a little more just to balance out the meal. They did have a couple options which would fit this bill but their price point advertised them more as a meal itself rather than a side dish. If these ladies are back during a colder week, I definitely want to try out their soups. The menu has some variety so I'm sure I'll be eating with them again regardless of the time of year.

The previous Tofu House location was so much warmer and inviting. The service was okay but the flavor of the food isn't what it used to be. The panchans are tiny and they charge you extra for more white rice. Come on...you're already charging an arm and leg for smaller portions. The flavors seemed to be toned down, too. I get that they want it to be more "accessible" in terms of the standard American palate but this is just a bit too bland for my tastes. I spent years in Korea and was hoping for a somewhat authentic experience but this just seems to want to placate the Damonte Ranch/South Reno white-bread palate a little too much. We had such high hopes and we're genuinely excited when we found out they were opening in our area but the two experiences we've had so far have fallen flat. There was so much potential. Too bad.

Instead, I ended up coming back the same day because my first experience was that good. Let's start with the appetizer sampler I got first go round. The egg roll was crispy, cabbagey, savory, and satisfying. The shrimp was crispy, fresh-tasting, and absolutely delicious with the sweet and sour sauce. The chicken wings were crispy, crunchy, juicy, and left me wanting ten more. The sesame ball was sweet, creamy, and wonderfully nutty. The crab cheese puffs were packed with filling, crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle, with a slight tang. The restaurant itself was spotless and smelled nice. The staff were friendly, smiling, and genuinely made me want to come back. The appetizers came with sweet and sour sauce, hot mustard, soy sauce, and a generous stack of napkins. It's a little thing, but I appreciated it. After I ran into the nail place to let my wife try what I thought was amazing, we decided it was gonna be dinner. Later, I came back and ordered two combo plates and a chicken fried rice. My combo came with chow mein, orange peel chicken, and General Chicken. My wife's came with fried rice and Kung Pao Chicken. My mom ordered the chicken fried rice. My plate left me conflicted. The flavors were fantastic. The orange peel chicken actually had large pieces of orange peel in it, giving it brightness, sweetness, and acidity. The General Chicken had a nice spice level, and I could actually taste ingredients like ginger instead of just generic sweetness. The chow mein was flavorful enough that it didn't need soy sauce at all. The problem wasn't flavor. It was texture. The chow mein, orange peel chicken, and General Chicken were all much softer than I prefer. Not quite mushy, but getting close. Everything kind of compressed when I bit into it. So I'm torn. Amazing flavor, but textures that just weren't my favorite. My wife's Kung Pao Chicken, on the other hand, was excellent. The spice level was perfect, the vegetables were uniformly cut and perfectly cooked, and there were peanuts throughout that added a nice crunch. Nothing was undercooked, oversized, or awkward to eat. Whoever is doing the knife work and prep in this kitchen deserves some credit because it shows. The fried rice on that plate was okay. Not bad at all, just very simple. It needed a little more flavor and a little more going on. My mom's chicken fried rice was much better. It had more seasoning, more ingredients, shredded chicken, vegetables, and a much more satisfying overall texture. So what's the verdict? The appetizers were outstanding, especially the shrimp and crab cheese puffs. The Kung Pao Chicken was excellent. The chicken fried rice was very good. Even the dishes I criticized had genuinely amazing flavor. Seriously, orange chicken that actually tastes like orange instead of pure sugar? That's rare. General Chicken where I can pick out individual flavors instead of one-note sweetness? Also rare. My issue was texture, not taste. If you like softer textures, you may love the chow mein, orange peel chicken, and General Chicken. If you're like me and prefer more bite, chew, or crispness, those dishes may not be your favorites. Will I be back? Absolutely. I should also mention for two combo plates, a order of shrimp, and order of crab cheese puffs, I spent like $55 bucks. Not bad at all. The flavors were too good not to come back and explore the rest of the menu. Honestly, if the orange peel chicken and General Chicken had a crispier texture, they'd be among the best versions I've had. As it is? 4 out of 5.

My fired rice wasn't "firied rice" it was steamed with some veggies. It wasn't traditional fired rice. The kung pao was okay. But not great. We didn't order any drinks because we had are own water. So I wasn't going to pay for another bottle. We spent $33. not bad. QUESTION: would I come back? NO it was an experience but I won't. But that's just my experience.

I will say that I didn't see celery or apples, and I only saw one piece of red onion, but perhaps those things are minced very finely (or incorporated in the salad some other way?). Either way, I have no idea how such a simple looking salad tasted so complex but it was fantastic and I highly recommend ordering it. My husband got the Philly cheesesteak with some sort of French-fry. He enjoyed it but mentioned that he was surprised a place named "The CHEESE Board" had such a light layer of cheese sauce in their Philly cheesesteak sandwich. (He said he wished there was more.) The place was packed but the food was out fairly quickly considering. I will say that I wished the seating felt more spacious, inviting, and comfortable. With a full restaurant and tables so close it wasn't the most relaxing environment to dine in (a bit cafeteria like) but they are limited on dinning space it seems. I did see that they had a kids menu. A child at the table next to us got the $10 plate that included thinly sliced green apple, crackers, cheese, and a meat (salami perhaps?); the portion seemed reasonable for the price and was certainly more than one gets in a Lunchable so I made a mental note that I could see my kids finding something to enjoy here. Overall, fresh food and clean pleasant ambiance. I'm looking forward to returning as well as keeping this place in mind for a visit when I'm hosting guests from out of town that prefer salads and/or more "frou-frou" food.
