French fries were burnt and soggy. Burger was greasy. Our 1st time there not a good impression.

My total, including a two dollar tip for the to-go order, was just short of $20. That's quite a lot of money for a burger lunch. When I was ordering my burger, noting the high starting price, that the add-ons were $1.00, to $1.50 each, and considering the great reviews, I assumed I was going to at least get a generously sized burger, with generous, and/or exceptionally high quality, toppings. I ordered a medium rare hamburger with avocado, bacon, chilies, and onion strings, and a small fry. No drink. I got a well-done burger, with a piece and a half of decent, but not super great, bacon, and a few very thin slices of avocado, no onion strings, and a few chili peppers. When I opened the burger, I moved a bit of the avocado aside, to see if I was missing some onion strings, but aside from that, this is exactly how it fell. The person who put this burger together obviously did not GAF. Not even a small one. The fry box was not even full. On the positive side, the bun, which outsized the overcooked burger, was really good. The fries were also very good. If there had been more toppings, they would've been good, but it was a very stingy situation for the price, and I did not even get all the toppings I paid for. The avocado was ripe. The bacon was... Recently moved to Azle from Fort Worth and Red's was one of the first places on my list of local restaurants to try out. Personally, I find a lot of the locally owned restaurants to have great food. Red's was no exception. I haven't gotten to dine in yet, but my take out order was delicious. I had the loaded fried my first time, but I'm looking forward to trying out the loaded philly fries. We were in town taking care of a friend's dog and were really struggling with the lack of restaurants in the area that aren't chains or fast-food. We wanted to eat somewhere we couldn't eat at in Dallas. Ironically, after giving up and deciding to just go to Whataburger, we came across Red's and decided to stop here instead. We both opted for Red's burger basket. She informed us that it came with fried string onions, not raw, and asked which we preferred. We are so glad we went with the fried because they were so tasty! This is just a good old, down-home, backyard burger. The kind you wanna eat after a long hot day out on the lake when you need some sustenance. The toppings were fresh and the patty perfectly charred. The only thing I wished I had remembered to add was jalapeños. That would've made it perfect. The fries were cooked perfectly, but maybe a tad bit on the salty side. Just got a little heavy-handed on the seasoning, but it was just a good simple meal, all in all. For the person who said the place was small, there is an upstairs room as well with seating. We raved about it to our friends who live in the area who admitted they had never gone but now they were gonna give it a try. We have lived in Azle for a year and a half. We ate at red's within the first 6 months of living here in 2022 and it was great. Nice juicy burgers. My brother's family was in town for the holidays and we decided to order from Red's for 10 people. He and I went to pick up our order and took it home. The order was correct but the burgers were dry and awful and the buns were so hard they were practically inedible. Not at all the same quality or taste as before and we spent over $120 on them. Worse hamburger I have ever had. It was disgusting. It was half raw after I asked for it to be cooked well done. Even the drink was terrible. My grandchildren and my Mother agreed with me. And the Employees were rude to all of us. I haven't and never will again go there. Even when we said something about our order being wrong they just became even more rude. Red's serves epic burgers on grilled buns, freshly cut and cooked fries, and not a bad Philly Cheesesteak! We first tried their burgers on Veterans Day last year, when they were free to vets. I ordered by phone and came back in spring, both because their burgers were great and to say thank you for the free ones. They're more expensive than DQ, but I have to concede that they're worth breaking the dining-out budget for. Cheerful, efficient staff, great food. The food was excellent my burger was great everybody's food they were raving about it really makes me feel great when Yelp helps out with a large group of people at the last minute trying to find food after a long day at the lake made me look like a foodie badass. This was my first visit to Red's. Hadn't heard anything about it, just found it on Google when I was in Azle, but it's a solid 4 stars. Food: I wouldn't call it an "award-winning burger" or anything, but it's awfully good. Quality beef and toppings. Not a great char and a bit under-seasoned. I really liked the roll, though. Not too soft or "pillowy"; toasted perfectly. Fries were fresh-cut and better than average. Service: They were pretty steady on a Saturday afternoon and the wait wasn't too long. All of the employees were friendly and seemed to be hustling. Atmosphere: It's a cozy place, relatively small. Has a rustic, rural feel but it's comfortable, clean and well-kept. Value: Not some stellar deal, but certainly not a ripoff. $10 for a burger combo of this size and quality seems fair to me. If you want to add avocado or pineapple or whatever crazy thing to it a la carte, yeah, that'll probably push the price beyond reason. Bottom line: I would definitely return and recommend. While this is valid, the business doesn't have much of an option to provide additional parking spaces because they are directly on Main Street; however, if you must cross the street on foot, it's not heavily traveled. Red's is great family owned and operated local business. We eat there a couple times a month. The food is always fresh and made to order. They offer very good specialty burgers, wraps, and hot dogs. The creative minds here are very food oriented and are not afraid to try new things. They will custom make anything as long as they have the ingredients.
