Really expected a better experience here. I went twice during my month and a half in Seward working seasonally. Employees are nice, but service is normally slow. Atmosphere is cool. My friends and I tried the burgers, fish and chips, and chicken basket. The burgers were not a good experience. Very greasy and the meat itself was not good. Chicken was ok but how can you mess up chicken tenders. My friend had the fish and chips and couldn't finish them she said they were so gross. Our tour guide recommended Red's Burgers for a quick lunch. Boy was I glad to have come here. When we arrived around 12pm, we were the only ones around so our orders took about 10 minutes. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with garlic fries and my girlfriend ordered REDS #1. The bacon cheese burger was really good and I loved the caramelized maple bacon, but the REDS #1 was amazing. The grilled ham, onions, and mushrooms for an extra $1 was a great deal and made the burger so flavorful. I'd highly recommend getting REDS #1, must be named that for a reason. The garlic fries had plenty of garlic on it and was really filling. The burger are a bit pricey, but that's expected in Alaska and at least it was a very filling lunch. read more

I happened to get here (unbeknownst to me) 5 minutes before close; yet, the owner took my order and served me anyway. I had a really evil burger called a Red's Burger. It was amazingly delicious and came with a ton of fries. It also probably clogged up at least 4 of my arteries....as all good burgers should. (grin) To wash it all down, I had a Mystery Shake (which is basically an undisclosed mixture of various shake flavors). Mine was really good. The restraunt seems to run in a food truck style approach, emphasizing yummy food over speed of service. Orders were taken and filled one or 2 at a time while those in line waited. In fairness, the wait is likely due to COVID related staffing shortages. Regardless, If you have the time to wait, this place is for you! We had bacon cheese burgers. The maple flavored bacon was perfect and the burger fresh and juicy. The bun was fresh and a generous side crispy fries was included. The portions are generous but unlike other reviewers I didnt even think about sharing. I ate it all and was full but not stuffed. My son got the chilli cheese fries and they had the right amount of chilli and cheese. It wasnt sloppy or soupy like other places. This is a excellent restaurant for this smaller town. The environment is really unique and it was fun to go in and have the option of eating in the bus. Staff was friendly and food got out the doors quick for the size of our party. The burgers were great and satisfied our taste buds. But the chicken tenders were clearly frozen and were dry as all get out. Fries were hit or miss some where good and some weren't so good. For the size of this town you wouldn't expect to find this sweet little spot. Would recommend to all burger lovers and people who love to eat in unique places. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's fantastic on the inside! The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was all made to order and extremely well done. We had burgers, chili dog, and fries, and everyone in the group loved their meals. Since it's made to order there's a wait for the food, and that is no problem because the bus is such a cool space to wait and later eat in. This place wildly, wildly exceeded my expectations. We came here after a long day of hiking craving burgers and fries. We're veggie, so finding decent veg friendly food isn't very easy. We got the veggie burgers and sweet potato fries and Oreo shakes. And holy god they were DELICIOUS. Like, better than most veggie burgers in San Diego, where I'm from, good. HIGHLY recommended. So far this has been our favorite bite in Seward. Fairly quick, cute tiny place with an old school bus for seating. We had the Red's #1 with onion rings and we wanted to go back immediately the next day for dinner again! Burgers burgers and more burgers, sweet potato fries, regular fries and onion rings. Loved this unique burger place We were visiting Alaska at Seward and I had this place bookmarked. They have an actual school bus for seating. Its interesting! We had a huge crowd and we didn't know if everyone will like the burger so we had them make us one burger and garlic fries. Oh it was amazing. We all absolutely loved it! We tried all kinda of vegetarian burgers with garden patties and black bean patties. My favorite was the jalapeno burger with a black bean patty!!! So good. Be sure to leave off the onion ring if you're vegan. I like to add pickles and raw onions too. There is no gluten-free bun option :( The fries are pretty great, but I might add salt. Came here after reading all the good reviews and was not disappointed. However, be prepared to wait a while. Our group had 7 people in it, and it was a good 20 min before we got our burgers. Also they only take cash, but there is an ATM onsite. The burgers were amazing, and the sides were also really good. You got many many fries, I don't think I finished mine. And the experience of sitting in the converted bus is worth it in its own. Overall a unique experience with tasty burgers. read more

I was really pumped for Red's and sadly it struck out. The garlic onion rings were good but the rest of the meal was average and when you factor in the price the meal wasn't a good value -- 29 bucks for two burgers. We had the Red #1 and the chickpea burger since the black bean burger is no longer served. The patties both had the look and taste of a frozen patty and the toppings were mediocre. The red #1 had both raw and grilled onions, which I found unnecessary...they also kept the tomato on even though I said no tomato. We have seen this place on other past visits to Seward Alaska. Finally decided to give this place a try. Had lots of good menu choices and options. Met the owner who was super nice and answered our questions. While waiting to order i noticed the place is dog friendly and they had dog treats for a customers dog. They also got a basket of table games if you ask for it. Great to keep the kids occupied while waiting for the orders. Two places to eat. Outside or in an old yellow school bus that big enough to hold 64 people at 4 per table. The food was good except the sweet potato fries and onion rings were warm not hot. We hope to give this place another try next year when visiting Seward and i hope to up date the review to 5 stars. Overall this restruant is worth trying out if staying in Sewart and the prices a reasonable to. Enjoy! read more

The whole burger was perfect. 5 Stars Maui Burger: Juicy burger w/ juicy ingredients. Nice mixture. 5 Stars Chicken Bucket: Very very juicy, fried perfectly. If there was a bit of vegetables with it, it would be beyond 5 stars. However, still delicious: 5 stars. Hot Dog: Tasted kind of weird, don't really recommend. 3 Stars Fries: A bit too crispy and oily for my taste. I got the Beyond Meat patty on the Maui Burger without cheese to make it vegan. It was amazing! One of the best burgers I've ever had. We found the fries and onion rings to be a little too crispy for our liking but they were still delicious. There is indoor seating inside the school bus and it's overall a very cute little restaurant with amazing food. Definitely check it out if you're in the area! read more

Maybe it's because it was a bit of the shoulder season, but I was not impressed with the burgers. The onion rings on the other hand were crunchy and fried to perfection with a good coating that didn't fall off. We also got a delicious shake here too. The shake had such good peanut butter flavor. This is a great place to get food in Seward that isn't going to cost you 50$ a person. They are a little food truck type, side-of-the-road diner about a mile from the Harbor St. Shops and restaurants. We didn't order any burgers but we got the chicken and cod baskets. They are fairly large portions. Cooked well. The chicken basket has whole breasts in it. The fries are also very good. They give free refills on your sodas as well. Super friendly staff. A few picnic tables with umbrellas and also an indoor seating area which is actually an old school bus that has been converted to have diner booths. We were recommended this place by one of our kayaking guides earlier in the day and we are thankful for the recommendation! read more

We always liked to come here when we traveled in Seward. It's a neat place but was very disappointed in their attitude and inconsistency. They would not take my sons order because he didn't have a mask on, even though this is not an inside restaurant. And then the sign says only one family unit in overhang at a time and they had no problem with breaking that rule. Just really disappointed in management. read more

This place is the coolest! We knew we had to stop here while we were in Seward. We loved the whole experience. You get to dine in an old school bus which is really unique. As you wait for your food they give you a pack of cards to play with. We had fun playing Uno while we waited. They were pretty busy and actually forgot to place our order but immediately addressed it, apologized, and even gave us two free shakes for the trouble! My husband got a bacon cheeseburger and I got the blue burger. Both burgers were super flavorful and juicy. We also got garlic fries which were delicious! Portions are huge so come hungry! There is a seriously upsetting surplus of frozen hamburger patties in this town -- thankfully, Red's doesn't sell any of them. I had my first Red's burger the other day, and it puts every other burger in town exactly one notch down on the local burger ranking charts. The Jalapeno burger ($13) was a lovely 1/3 lb hand-pressed patty, cooked perfectly to my specified temperature (medium rare, of course... anything more done than that would be, well, a bit uncivilized) with a generous slice of pepper-jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, lettuce and tomato. They even grilled the onions for me at no extra charge. Elk, buffalo, and reindeer burger is available for a small upcharge. My burger was tastefully presented, half-wrapped in traditional diner-checked parchment paper -- to prevent greasy fingers while allowing easy access to the hearty sandwich -- and seated in a basket of fries, which I promptly doused in mayonnaise. My only complaint is that there was no malt vinegar in the condiment stand, though I didn't ask for any. It very well could have been behind the counter. On this particular Saturday afternoon, there were at least a half-dozen customers ahead of me, and I did have to wait a few minutes to get my food. Service was prompt, however: I wouldn't have been upset about the wait for several more minutes, and besides, this isn't some fast-food joint. The burgers are made to order and cooked to perfection. It takes a couple of extra minutes for a job to be done right, and I was glad to spend them sitting in the sunshine, watching hikers come down Mount Marathon and making conversation with one of the other patrons.
