I had my doubts about this place but had a very pleasant visit. Drive thru staff was very kind and patient. I had taken a sip of my sprite while we waited for our food and the syrup had gone out. I wish I could say I actually got to eat here, but after placing my drive-thru order and sitting more than twenty minutes without the three cars in front of me being served I left. Take a lesson from Chick fila, they cook everything fresh to order and you're out of there five minutes after ordering. Horrible experience. Their giant hamburger is about the size of the McDonald small hamburger. All the napkin holders were empty. Asked the lady for napkins and would she bring me some when she filled up one of the 4 or 5 empty napkin holders. She never brought me any napkins. Had to get up and locate the one holder she partially filled up and take the top off to get one napkin out. The fries were burnt, a black color. The milkshake was not completely mixed together. Unfortunately the place is run by the new generation of people who do not have a clue about life or just don't care. I think the original owner would be totally disgusted about how his business is being run down the toilet by people who just don't care about their job or their customers. Honestly, I was less than impressed. The majority of the tables were dirty, as was the condiment/drink/untensil area. Once we got past that, we waited about 4-5 minutes at the counter/register, where you're supposed to place your order, while nobody acknowledged us at all. Not even so much as a glance, or a hello be with you in a minute. NOTHING. When somebody finally made their way to the counter, she did not look up, did not say hello... just, "who was here first" (because there was now a line of about 4 other couples/families behind us). On to the ordering, they got my son's order wrong... cheeseburger... plain.. only cheese. Even though she repeated it twice, as did we, no cheese lol. The fried chicken sandwich had good flavor but was just 2 chicken tenders stuffed in a bun, rather than a whole breast or thigh, which just made it incredibly difficult to eat. The fries were ok, the burgers weren't much to speak of either. We won't be returning... definitely not worth $30. Stick with Steak-N-Shake. read more

I wanted to love Red's, but ended up only liking it. It's an alternative to other 50's style diners, however the bread was dry and crumbly and the food lacked salt (easy problem to fix!) I have been to the new Red's three times now, and have yet to be disappointed. The food tasted good, and it was cheaper than getting a burger combo at most of the national chains. And the service was good and reasonably fast. I'll admit that on one occasion, they got part of the order wrong when we went to the counter to pick up the food. But that was corrected in about two minutes, with an apology being made, so I'll still give five stars. read more

Freddy's beats this place by MILES on every front; food quality, service quality, cleanliness. Our first trip to Red's was meh - the "giant" burgers are anything but, the buns are cheap and fall apart easily, the fries were soggy, the tables were greasy. My son ordered a strawberry shake and the guy that only half listened to the order made a chocolate shake and when we tried to get them to correct it, there were no less than 4 people standing around looking at each other like, "uh whadoo we do?" We just took the shake they obviously wanted us to have because they know better...? Hey Red's Management here's tip if you want to stick around: Send your crew to go eat at Freddy's and tell them "that's how you do customer service". The only redeeming thing about our first visit is that it didn't cost us much money. read more

I was hoping for something better especially from the line we had to wait in for the food. The hamburger itself was bland and was in between a smash burger and hand pattied burger in terms of size, it had crispy parts that were so crispy that I had to pick off because it was not edible. We ordered the single patty combo and I ordered cheese fries which they charged 2 dollars more for which is how much another side costs. The cheese fries were so disappointing that I almost wanted to ask for maybe a side of chili but didn't want to wait in line again. All it was was finely shredded cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. I was expecting a cheese style sauce or at least for the cheese to be melted but it was just cold shredded cheese which just fell off the fries. The French fries themselves were ok except for the massive clumps of fries that must have stuck together in the fryer. The nostalgia and the history of knowing that the original place created the concept of a drive thru is really interesting but other than that I will not be returning. Freddy's and Steak and Shake offers a far more superior burger. read more

I am writing this simply due to the time spent waiting in the Drive Thru today. I thought I would try Reds for the first time, but don't think I will ever go back after the experience. We were in the drive thru for about 45 minutes with only two cars in front of us that also had to wait that long. There was no "sorry for the wait" or an acknowledgement on the wait time. We gave Red's a try last night and I'll never be back. The wait I can let go, since they're new enough to not have their routine down yet, but we went in at 9:30 and it was nearly 10 before we got our food. There was only one party ahead of us at the counter. The real problem was the food. The burger was pretty good, but it was greasy enough to bleed through the sack. The fries were...horrible. Greasy, greasy, and still more grease. Soggy with grease and a lot of them were overcooked. My better half ordered a veggie burger. She's had a lot of veggie burgers over the years and this was at the bottom of the heap. Very poor quality. And the bun was so dried out it cracked and crumbled. It just about made her sick. Oh yeah, then there's the fact they got the order wrong. I asked for everything and named all of the special extras, including caramelized onions on both. We got only chopped onions, no caramelized ones, no pickles, no mustard. There are too many other options in town, many at a lower price. We'd have been much better off even with McDonalds. It's a shame, they're close to home and we were really looking forward to eating there. Lesson learned. read more

I hope to go back again and after all the bad reviews I read about. We had three people eating and we all liked the burgers so I think they just had some problem and they first opened up, like any new business getting the problems worked out. It's usually a great place to eat however yesterday it wasn't very good. I ordered a burger with onion rings. The burger was lukewarm and the onion rings were over cooked (almost burnt). Most of the tables were dirty and there wasn't any reds sauce on the condiments counter. It was extremely loud because of a group of people trying to talk over the loud music playing. Absolutely amazing! We checked it out, and WOW! We were extremely pleased! And we have gone back several times since. My Sister came to visit from Colorado, but we grew up here, and remember Reds! So, first night here, we took her to Reds, and we were so into our food, we hardly spoke until mid meal! Give it a try, it's reasonably priced, and those fries!!! I was in Springfield today and decided to try Red's. I had never been there before and had heard good things. I went through the drive thru and ordered and Senior combo minus Ketchup and Pickles add lettuce, tomato, and onion. I waited in the drive thru for about 10 minutes to get my food, but thought if they are making it fresh its worth the wait. I was wrong, the burgers were over cooked on one side like they had forgot them on the grill. It had no sauce at all and there were a handful of pickles on it. Their fries were not bad they were more soggy than crispy though. On top of that it was almost 11 dollars for a meal that I did not enjoy. I hope this is now everyone's experience here, from the reviews it looks like this was a bad trip, but I don't know that I will go back anytime soon. read more
