On the RI Food Fights #BestSandwichRI trail this weekend took us to Red's Kitchen in Seekonk. There are TEN, count 'em, 10 different cheesesteaks on the menu!!! It is a cheesesteak lover's dream lineup! Hubby is absolutely in heaven right now! This is hands down one of his all-time favorite sandwiches & he went straight for the O.G.: thinly shaved steak, perfectly melted american cheese plus mushrooms & onions. It is perfection... in a can't-stop-eating-it kind of way! And the size? This sandwich is no joke! It is easily big enough to stretch into two meals & every bite is ridiculously satisfying! OMG! This is a hidden gem! I came in because of best sandwich RI and wow! This is an amazing little sandwich shop. I got the plain Jane because I'm, well, basic! I loved it though. So much flavor and baked with steak and cheese. Nolan took care of me while there and he was beyond helpful and nice! I enjoyed chatting with him and learning about the business. It's nothing fancy inside but there is lots of seating and the food and service speaks for itself. Def will be back! read more

These were some of the worst fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had the displeasure of eating. The fried chicken almost certainly comes pre-cut and breaded in a frozen bag. The breading was awful and they're were about 5 chunks of chicken in each sandwich.. Seriously? The sandwich was almost all bread.. And the bread wasn't really anything to write home about either. These looked impressive until I cut them in half to split them with my wife and I went... "Oh..". The Piri and Pickle also just tasted like a big Mac? Maybe they used the wrong sauce? It was supposed to be a Piri Piri aioli and it certainly was not. The Red Hot sandwich was supposed to have bacon.. It was legit just bacon bits scooped out of a bag. I didn't even eat more than 1/5th of the bread. The ratio was just completely wrong. Aside from the food, the Swansea location could really use some TLC, not exactly a nice place to eat inside. Service was fine, they couldn't be bothered giving us recommendations after we asked which was a little odd to me, but oh well. Maybe the cheesesteaks are better. Don't come here for the sysco foods chicken sandwich, if they can even call it that with the abysmal amount of chicken. I don't write many 1 star reviews but this one was earned. read more

Take a trek behind Fantasy Land and find yourself this hidden gem. Take the stairs up and around to find yourself in this spacious but cozy bar area. A space for events is found to the right, and kids playing basketball or soccer to the left, as Red's is built over an athletic center. The service was friendly and fast. The wings we ordered came out quick and they were piping hot. We opted for the Louisiana style, a mix of dry Cajun rub and remoulade. And it was so delicious. A little spicy, with the creaminess and tangyness of the sauce, it was finger licking good...literally. These wings also had a light breading. Now, while ordinarily I prefer a non breaded wing, these had the lightest coating which added a lovely crunch to the wing. One of my favorite kind of restaurant is the kind that surprises you. And Red's has done that in the best way. I'll make sure to keep this spot in mind next time I'm shopping on route 6 and need to grab a bite to eat! I ended up at Red's Kitchen in Seekonk For my last stop for this year's RI Food Fights Lord of the Wings challenge,. This bar felt like the machinists union hall that my dad used to (inappropriately?) bring us to occasionally when he worked for Pratt & Whitney, is adjacent to a gym that had volleyball league games happening (they may have been pick-up games?) and the bar's windows looked over the courts. It seemed like the main clientele was people either waiting to play. I really liked the vibe of the place. As for the wings, I ended with the recommended Korean BBQ. A nice sauce but a bit too much soy sauce flavor coming through for my taste. However the wings were solid and I would absolutely go back and try another flavor at some point, along with a few other things that looked appetizing on their menu. read more

Red's Kitchen is my third stop on the 9th Annual #BestSandwichRI showdown. Red's Kitchen is located inside Teamworks in Seekonk. Teamworks is a large, indoor sport and recreation center that provides fun programming for the whole family, including sports leagues, camps, clinics, birthday parties, special events and more. There is a large parking lot. When I tried the Red's Kitchen entrance from the parking lot, the doors were locked even though their website said they should be open. I wasn't able to find another entrance so I called their Swansea location and they were able to direct me to where Red's Kitchen was. When you enter Teamworks, turn right by the columns and go up the stairs. Red's Kitchen has plenty of seating with even seats overlooking the turf. On a Sunday afternoon, there were some people watching the practice but no one eating. We went to the bar to order the O.G. cheesesteak - shaved steak, american cheese, griddled onions and mushrooms, herbs and Angry cheesesteak - Shaved Steak, Cheese, Griddled Onions, Hot Sauce, Piri Piri Aioli, Finger Peppers, Pineapple to go. While we waited for our food to be prepared, we walked around the space and saw people playing soccer. There is also a fireplace and couches. It looked cozy. When our food was ready, the beeper buzzed and went back to the bar. The cheesesteak bread was thick, but very soft and fresh. The shaved steak, american cheese, griddled onions and mushrooms was all very good. The angry cheesesteak was spicy so beware. Red's Kitchen is a great option for those using the Teamworks facility. read more

We always enjoy Red's & stop there whenever we can. So, we welcomed an opportunity to try the wings while participating in the RI Food Fights Lord of the Wings competition. We stopped at the Swansea location to take-away this time, but have enjoyed the fun atmosphere in the sports facility in Seekonk as well. We were greeted by an enthusiastic, friendly young man. Everyone we've met at Red's is equally helpful & nice. We were immediately drawn to the piri-piri wings, but they had run out of that sauce. The nice guy offered at give us an assortment of other sauces to try instead. Fun! We enjoyed trying them all & settled on a bbq/buffalo mix as our fav. We loved the crispy, well cooked wings & enjoyed having the sauces on the side. We also ordered the French Quarter sandwich - a great choice! Overflowing with turkey, cheese, olives & their tasty remoulade, it was plenty big enough for two of us to share. Another great stop here - we'll be back! read more

I have a lot of to say about Red's Kitchen at their Swansea, MA location, but for all the wrong reasons. To start, walking through the door, I thought this spot was run down, not well kept, and in desperate need of some cleaning and repairs. Sometimes these types of places can still have outstanding food, but that certainly was not the case here. As My husband and I were trying to decide on what to order, I asked the women behind the counter what her favorite sandwich was. She hesitated for a few beats too many, and ultimately couldn't give an answer. Not a good sign. We chose to split the Piri & Pickles and the Red Hot Fried Chicken sandwich, and, my goodness, these were abysmal. In my honest and well-versed opinion, this was truly one of the worst sandwiches that I've ever been served. I would say "that I've ever eaten" but I could not stomach the thought of finishing this meal. In both orders, the chicken was a mutilated tender that seemed to be the quality of a frozen nugget with oily, tasteless batter. The "bacon" on the Red Hot was bacon BITS, causing every bite to be overly salty, crumbly, and unpleasant, and the flavor profile was not at all cohesive. While the sauce on the Piri & Pickles was decent, it was not enough to salvage this sad excuse for a sandwich. Now, you may look at the pictures attached to my review and think, "wow! Those look like some hearty and tasty sandwiches!" Wrong. Once you cut or bite into this sandwich, you're met with the familiar disappointment of opening a bag of chips and finding the contents to be mostly air. These sandwiches had practically no filling, they were all bread, but the presentation fooled you into thinking otherwise. Another stop on my month long quest for the #lordofthepies during the #rifoodfights; - decided to pop in here and although it took a few minutes to find it, we bellied up to the bar. Red's is on the second floor of an indoor sports facility. Put simply, it's where the dads go to have a beer while the kiddos play soccer below. Great concept but the pizza is not scoring a goal. We were given two big slices of cheese and as soon as I looked at it I was not enticed. When we saw the bartender remove the slices from the revolving warmer that sat at the other end of the bar we weren't too confident. Needless to say I found the slices to be mediocre at best. Perhaps a step up above public school cafeteria pizza. We did chat with the bartender too who indicated working 'awhile' in good service and I told him I wasn't impressed with the pizza. read more

So Red's has always been one of our favorite food trucks, their steak and cheese and fries are among the best that you will have! Until recently, we had never been to their Seekonk restaurant. It was a busy night, with one guy tending bar and taking food orders. I will say that the food truck can sling the sandwiches much faster than the restaurant, but it gave me time to look around. There were plenty of tables for groups of all sizes. So we each ordered a small steak sandwich, with one side of fries to share. Both items were hot and delicious, with enough fries to share with half the bar! Red's is, and always will be, a favorite. Visited the smaller Swansea location of this business for the FOOD FIGHTS wing event. The person behind the counter was super excited to greet us and tell us all about their wings and other food options. They sold me on the Portuguese wing sauce, and it was a hit. The garlic parm was probably one of the best I've ever had. It's one of the flavors that I often try when I go out for wings, and this one was top-notch. It was sweet and buttery, while also super nutty and salty from the Parmesan cheese. I definitely look forward to trying out their other location! read more

The presentation was awesome but the flavors and textures did not deliver. I ordered the fried chicken BLT sub and I was expecting it to be one of the greatest sandwiches I'd have but it wasn't. I think the chicken was overcooked since some parts were very hard. It did have a good amount of bacon which I was a fan of. I really wish it had a sauce to help combine the flavors but it was just too dry for me; it may have had some Mayo but I think a ranch or honey mustard would have gone better. On the side it came with Parmesan fries. They were okay but the Parmesan definitely helped give them some flavor. Some were soggy and once you ate the ones on the top with Parmesan, the rest did not have too much flavor. read more

I got a simple texas hold them sandwich and for the price to food ratio, i was left breathless. I got a HUGE heaping pile of meat, cheese, bacon, bbq sauce, and hoagie, sub, bread EVER! The man knew what I wanted the moment he asked "what can I get for you?" and he delivered to my mouth what I considered heaven. The indoor isn't really quaint or cozy, if it's busy, it'll probably be really tight to eat in so best kept for take outs and catering. The idea is great, and the effort is certainly there, it is the execution that is lacking. I had a "The Hot One" sandwich (small), and some Parm fries. This was at a food truck festival, and the crowd was quite large. Though to be fair it did take a little bit, I definitely give them points for speed all things considered. I will also give them points for the portion size, it's definitely a hearty portion. Even if you don't eat it all, you will not be hungry afterward. Maybe room for dessert, but there's always room for dessert! The Parmesan fries were seasoned nicely, and They didn't really skimp on the Parm. Alas, something just went wrong: the fries were both oily and we bit soggy and droopy. I won't dock points for this, however, I would have liked if the Parm was sprinkled such that it was allowed to melt onto the fries just a tiny bit. Since this is a food truck, I realize their operation might not allow this easily. The sandwich though might work if this were a sit-down restaurant, but for a food truck, this is not the right approach. The pieces of chicken are very large, the kind where a whole piece will barely fit in your mouth. What happens when you bite into the sandwich, 1/3 of the chicken you eat, 2/3 goes to the pigeons. The chicken itself was 'meh' It wasn't a tenderest stuff I've ever had, but I will let that one slide. It was the breading that was severely lacking, in some points, it was just a light coating of fried flour. The sauce combination was okay, Frank's Red and Blue Cheese were combined okay, though the honey was completely lost on me, it might be advantageous to add a little more creaminess but that's just a preference. The other thing that the sauces do is they start wetting down the base of the sandwich. I will admit I ate this one out with a fork, and the Baystate put. However, if you're eating is standing up the sandwich might just split self in two! Pepperoncini and hot finger peppers were nice in that they added some freshness, but on top of the already acidic combination of hot sauce and blue cheese, something fresh would have been appreciated. Also, some pieces of bacon made it into the fries, looking at the menu they would have been with the sandwich. Look, I'll never complain about bacon, but to say the amount was scanty is me being nice. read more

They had me at the hand cut fries and kept me with the Cheesesteak. I had been wanting to try this truck for some time and I am glad I finally got to it. The hand cut fries were fabulous. I am a huge fan of hand cut fries and my bar is high. They kept over it with the fries by themselves and then that added the toppings which took them over the top. We have the Bacon and Cheese fries and the Chimichuri fries. Both excellent, they had the right amount of toppings to let you know they were more than plain fries, but not too much so you forgot the glorious hand cut fries were there. We also split the OG Cheesesteak and an order of the Buttermilk Popcorn Chicken. The chicken was well flavored and came in good (big) bite-size pieces. The "small" had more than enough for the two of us to share. The Cheesesteak was the best I have had in a long time! Great bread, soft and soft. The meat, onions and mushrooms were perfect and then the addition of the cheese on top, come on man! I will definitely be hunting these guys down in the future! read more

I never would have known this place even existed if we weren't participating in the Museum of Work and Culture's Annual Poutine Indulgence where one purchases a passport to sample poutines from seven area restaurants in March. If you're familiar with the shopping center in Seekonk housing a Target, TJ Maxx, Homegoods, ULTA and Kohl's, it's a little further down the street on the same side of the road. You can't see it at all from the road so it looks like you're driving into some sort of commercial business area. However, it was easy to find with GPS. To get to the restaurant, which feels more like a bar with table service, you go up a flight of stairs. We approached the bar and ordered our poutines to take out. There were a lot of guys and families with kids hanging out as it appears the restaurant is adjacent to two indoor sporting areas. At the time, kids were playing baseball in one area and soccer in the other area. The restaurant seems to serve as a sort of clubhouse where you can order food and drink and watch your kids practice in the spaces below. Interesting idea! They have a nice cozy area with a real fireplace, sofa and tables marked with QR codes that you can use to order. I could see this place being very chill if it's not crowded with folks watching their kids' practices. They also have a dance floor and some games like pool and corn hole. Service at the bar was very slow because there were so many folks and they seemed understaffed. One of the bartenders told us there was a huge order ahead of us which was the reason for the wait. They were really nice about keeping us informed of the status of our order and checking in, which was appreciated. When we got our poutines home, we self assembled them since they keep the gravy separate from the fries, presumably so they don't get mushy. The poutine portions were huge and super delicious. I have never had fried cheese curds on poutine but this was awesome! I will enthusiastically return here to get their poutine. Quite a hidden poutine gem! I stumbled across Red's food truck in Providence and on a lark I poked my head into the window to check out the offerings. I had no intention of getting lunch at that moment. The truck just happened to be parked on the street in front of my office. I was curious. To my absolute amazement, a few minutes later I walked away with the best grilled steak, cheese, onion and mushroom sandwich I have ever had. Seriously. And I'm not just saying this because the service was so remarkably friendly and kind. But that certainly made the experience even better. I can't wait to try Red's brick and mortar locations next. Disgusting. We ordered The piri and pickle chicken sandwich. We had tried Reds once before a few months ago and it was good. We got the sandwich and it doesn't even remotely resemble the photo on the menu. Where is the beautifully grilled bun? Where is the chicken? The frozen breaded shoe leather was substituted for the chicken breast? Complete waste of time and money. The worst ever. If I could give it less than one star I would. read more

Stumbled upon this food truck when we were downtown for the Christmas Tree lighting this past December and it did not disappoint. We started with the Portuguese Fries and they were very tasty. The actual fries themselves were cooked perfectly and loved the toppings. The pineapple was a little surprising but the little bit of sweetness was awesome. For the sandwiches I was very pleased that you could order a small or large size. My husband and I wanted to try different things so I got a small Angry Cheesesteak and he got a small Portuguese Cubano. Both were awesome!! The Angry Cheesesteak had a good amount of spice to it and again the sweetness of the pineapple went so well. We look forward to finding them again. Bacteria city in the food trucks The food looked n tasted decent but should come with a warning saying you will shit liquid for the next night and day and I didn't even eat the entire sandwich , we got this food at an event from the truck and all three of us have been on the toilet all early morning and day today , they must not properly store the steak or something at the right temperature because food grows bad bacteria after 4 hours at the wrong temp... expensive too and the bread was the wrong roll the meat fell right out of the sand which when you tried to bite it , maybe the bread needed to be cut more idk... needs some work to get my business again ! read more
