I started off with the clam chowder soup. And my wife ordered the bruschetta appetizer. Both were really good. For dinner she ordered the Shrimp and Grits, she said absolutely delicious. I went with house special prime rib. Came with Asparagus & new potatoes. Everything cooked to perfection. We don't normally order dessert but why not one last time. We ordered the cinnamon bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, perfecto. They say they will be opening up soon in River Islands, we will definitely be back. Redwood has always been top notch but I think they have dropped quite a bit Our server was very bland and didn't know the menu very well. He had to keep referring to nots on things. I had the halibut special and it was just ok. Not seasoned very well. My friend had the pork schnitzel and he added salt a couple times. We had to send a drink back because it wasn't correct. Wow! This place deserves the 5 stars and more. We dropped in on Friday evening for the first time around 730 pm without reservation after finding on Yelp, there was no seating in the main restaurant but the hostess suggested we look for a seat in the bar or lounge. We proceeded across the parking lot to the lounge which turned out to be the most beautiful outdoor space with dim lights, beautiful long fireplace with couches, tons of table and a full bar. It was half full , quiet , but felt secluded in the best way compared to the high energy of the main restaurant. The full menu was offered and our fantastic server took drink orders right away. We then ordered 2 appetizers, a salad to share and 2 entrees at the same time. The dishes were paced SO perfectly, appetizers were enjoyed slowly and plated were cleared a few mins before the salad arrived and same with the entrees. We were able to enjoy each dish which goes to show how skilled , experienced & attentive the wait staff was. The food was 5/5! Although we were stuffed full, we HAD to try out the dessert. We went with the cinnamon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream as recommended by our server and Ghirardelli's brownie with ice cream. First time going to this restaurant on a date with my hubby. The food was delicious I had the halibut and my husband had the pork chop. The drinks to our server Joel were fantastic. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The place is beautiful with lots of little nooks and crannies and at the same time all so private for the perfect dinner date to have. Wife and I attended a dinner party here last night. The parking lot is very tight and to get to the room where out event was being held involved going through multiple dimly lit rooms, but nonetheless the experience was worth it. Outstanding service and the food was above average. My ribeye steak (too thinly cut) was decent, and my wife's salmon was delicious (especially the cheddar grits). My wife thought the dressing on the Caesar salad was a little too fishy tasting and she didn't finish it. The evening was topped off by outstanding desserts. My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and I had an amazing time! The parking situation was not the greatest but it wasn't too bad. We both love restaurants that have a very nice ambience and they didn't disappoint. Very intimate. The service was spot on and the server was very attentive. We sat down at our table and after going over the menu, ordered our appetizer and drinks and had time to enjoy them both without more food coming and taking up room on the table. Everything was brought out as they should have. If there was food left on the plate they ask if you would like it boxed up and they took it and came back with a small box. For our appetizer we ordered the crab aranchini and for dinner we enjoyed a Cesar salad, shrimp and grits and the rib eye steak. Everything we ate was delicious! This place is spectacular. For some reason I truly love the dark atmosphere and uniqueness this restaurant brings. They typically open at 5PM but often accept same day reservations if you call before 5. I highly recommend this. They do I have a beautiful outdoor bar, happy hour from 2-6PM most days and opening seating. Several fire pits outside and lots of space. Whether you decide to enjoy your time outside or inside the experience will most likely be phenomenal. I've had great service each and every time I have visited and the food was absolutely amazing. My friend had a surprise bridal shower at this restaurant. It is separated into two sides: the bar area and the restaurant. We were a big group so there was a private room in their wine cellar. It was very intimate and it gave you a lot of privacy. This was great because we were being a little rowdy. The table fit about 12 people. I ordered the Rib-eye steak with mash potatoes and the steak was so tender and it just melted in your mouth. I didn't get to try anything else but that steak was enough to get me to go back. My parents came to visit, and in looking around for someplace to eat, we found this place. We snuck in without a reservation and were served pretty quickly overall. My dad got a meatball appetizer with a side salad, which was a lot more food than he was expecting, but he said it was all delicious. My mom got the spinach salad with an order of crab cakes, which she said was good. Even the bread, a soft and well-seasoned focaccia, stood out to me. I got the day boat scallops, and, wow, it was amazing. The scallops were fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked, packed with flavor and with a crispy sear. The polenta was substantial and tasty, but not too grainy or solid. Everything, together with the tomatoes, mushrooms, roasted garlic, and tangy gastrique, came together perfectly into a well-balanced dish. I'd honestly come back just for a taste of this again. I'd say it's definitely worth the (kind of steep) price, and I look forward to coming back to try one of their risottos sometime soon read more

I had been once before for the champagne brunch, but really wanted to try dinner. We made reservations for 8pm. I started off with a glass of the house chardonnay. It was very light and delicious! I had looked online at the menu and thought I was prepared, but the menu presented to us was different. I really wanted calamari or crab cakes, but neither were listed. We settled on the antipasto. When it arrived, I noticed right away how thick the meat was, compared to other boards I've had. Everything was delicious and filling! I would definitely order that again. I was expecting olives or something of the sort, since it was listed...but we didn't get any. They brought us some sliced baguette and foccacia bread. Let me tell you! That foccacia was like biting into a cloud! It was so fluffy and soft...then when you add the whipped butter! I wish they brought us more though. It also seemed like it had roasted garlic oil brushed on top! Delicious! For our mains, we both ordered the day scallops. These were large scallops with a wild mushroom risotto and paired with potatoes, bell people, red onion, carrots and brussel sprouts. This was amazing! The scallops has a light char outside, adding just enough fo a crisp to their delicate softness. Another item I would order again! Finished dinner off with a second glass of chardonnay. Service was also amazing! They were quick and constantly checking in on our to make sure we were good. I only wish I had enough room to check out the dessert menu. We will be back! read more

For the last few years my husband's company has hosted the management team for dinner during the month of December. We all converge in the cellar of the Cafe and order cocktails, appetizers, and entrees, followed by dessert and coffee. The service is excellent and the food delicious. Not having to think about prices makes the meal taste even better. LOL We enjoy this venue for the annual gathering, having a space that is away from the regular restaurant crowd coming and going. This place is amazing! Who knew Modesto had such gems like Redwood Cafe! They are open for outdoor dining so we had a mom's night out and came here and I'm so glad we did. Our table was seating outside towards the back where they have mini fireplaces and an umbrella ceiling type of covering. It was so cute! The ambiance alone made me want to come back. For start we ordered a bottle of LaMarca Prosecco which turned into two bottles by the time we left. I ordered the lamb lollipops and they were amazing!!!!! You get 3 as an appetizer and they aren't super small so it's enough to share. I ate them all lol. For my entree I ordered the halibut and had them substitute what it came with for their parmesan cheese risotto and I'm so glad I did because the flavors blended extremely well with each other. It was so good I was full and still tried to eat it all. The desert we ordered to share was the chocolate brownie which was supposed to come with berries but they had ran out. The brownie is served cold and that was a real bummer. I'd probably skip desert next time. Overall this place is stunning!
