This grounds are beautiful! The back area lounge is really cozy to hang out and chill. We did have reservations and had to wait only a few minutes to have our table ready. It was fine, we ordered our first round of drinks. Bartender was very friendly and gave great suggestions Once seated, our waiter Gar (sp) greeted us right away and gave us the specials. I was happy with his service! Now for the food. For the price it was just ok. We had a variety of food. Best of all: Bread-baked fresh. Soft & delicious Steak-cooked perfectly! Risotto-cooked perfectly and flavorful Cesar salad-dressing wash light and fresh

Redwood has always been top notch but I think they have dropped quite a bit Our server was very bland and didn't know the menu very well. He had to keep referring to nots on things. I had the halibut special and it was just ok. Not seasoned very well. My friend had the pork schnitzel and he added salt a couple times. We had to send a drink back because it wasn't correct. Bread was never brought until we asked and when it came we were halfway done with meal. It's a beautiful restaurant but it want the great experience that I've had before

We began coming here less than a year ago and we have been regular patrons since! The small bar with the most amazing bartenders who really get to know is our favorite place to go. The food.... A M A Z I N G! Down the bread! The lamb chops are the best we've ever had! We enjoy them so much so that we have them at least once a week if not twice a week! The rib eye melts in your mouth and the chicken parmigiana..... WOW! This upscale restaurant has the bar that gives off cheers vibes but also swanky vibes. You can come dressed up for a date night or in comfy clothes and flip flops. This has to be on the top of your list for date night or just a friends night out.

Wow! This place deserves the 5 stars and more. We dropped in on Friday evening for the first time around 730 pm without reservation after finding on Yelp, there was no seating in the main restaurant but the hostess suggested we look for a seat in the bar or lounge. We proceeded across the parking lot to the lounge which turned out to be the most beautiful outdoor space with dim lights, beautiful long fireplace with couches, tons of table and a full bar. It was half full , quiet , but felt secluded in the best way compared to the high energy of the main restaurant. The full menu was offered and our fantastic server took drink orders right away. We then ordered 2 appetizers, a salad to share and 2 entrees at the same time. The dishes were paced SO perfectly, appetizers were enjoyed slowly and plated were cleared a few mins before the salad arrived and same with the entrees. We were able to enjoy each dish which goes to show how skilled , experienced & attentive the wait staff was. The food was 5/5! Although we were stuffed full, we HAD to try out the dessert. We went with the cinnamon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream as recommended by our server and Ghirardelli's brownie with ice cream. The bread pudding was like the most amazing mix between moist French toast and a cinnamon roll, yum !

First time going to this restaurant on a date with my hubby. The food was delicious I had the halibut and my husband had the pork chop. The drinks to our server Joel were fantastic. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The place is beautiful with lots of little nooks and crannies and at the same time all so private for the perfect dinner date to have. I can't wait to go back they also made me a black berry mojito. It was refreshing and not sweet at all perfect blend. All was chef's kiss!

I had my bday dinner and the ribeye steak was the best ribeye i ever had. I was there with 5 other friends and we all got the ribeye and we all agreed it was the best we ever had.

Excellent I can't say anything else, best bartenders or should I say mixologist Jeremy and Chris. The grilled octopus was amazing.

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and I had an amazing time! The parking situation was not the greatest but it wasn't too bad. We both love restaurants that have a very nice ambience and they didn't disappoint. Very intimate. The service was spot on and the server was very attentive. We sat down at our table and after going over the menu, ordered our appetizer and drinks and had time to enjoy them both without more food coming and taking up room on the table. Everything was brought out as they should have. If there was food left on the plate they ask if you would like it boxed up and they took it and came back with a small box. For our appetizer we ordered the crab aranchini and for dinner we enjoyed a Cesar salad, shrimp and grits and the rib eye steak. Everything we ate was delicious! We have already made plans to go back and try some other items on the menu. Thank you for making my birthday memorable!

Redwood offers a great spot in town for date night or other celebration. Definitely on the pricier end, but food is great and so are the drinks. Service has been amazing every time I have been here.

This place is spectacular. For some reason I truly love the dark atmosphere and uniqueness this restaurant brings. They typically open at 5PM but often accept same day reservations if you call before 5. I highly recommend this. They do I have a beautiful outdoor bar, happy hour from 2-6PM most days and opening seating. Several fire pits outside and lots of space. Whether you decide to enjoy your time outside or inside the experience will most likely be phenomenal. I've had great service each and every time I have visited and the food was absolutely amazing. Here are some things I've had so far off the menu and hope to be back to try more. Maybe even at the new Oakdale location!!! -- Coconut Shrimp appetizer -- Braised short rib pizza -- Bacon wrapped scallops entree -- Seafood Risotto entree -- Steak Risotto entree -- Steak and truffle fries -- TNT is a delicious drink especially if you are a tequila drinker. Rate this review and enjoy!!

Great atmosphere! Good food and service!! We have come for the Mother's Day brunch and that was awesome!!

My friend had a surprise bridal shower at this restaurant. It is separated into two sides: the bar area and the restaurant. We were a big group so there was a private room in their wine cellar. It was very intimate and it gave you a lot of privacy. This was great because we were being a little rowdy. The table fit about 12 people. I ordered the Rib-eye steak with mash potatoes and the steak was so tender and it just melted in your mouth. I didn't get to try anything else but that steak was enough to get me to go back. They had a lot of drink choices as well. WINE WINE WINE. Definitely had a good great array of wine choices for everyone that drinks wine. Next time, I will have to take my husband here so we can enjoy it together.

Worst service ever, the food was great but the staff was extremely unprofessional and unorganized. I checked in for table for three at 6:45 PM. They said they will text us when the table is ready after I asked them if they had the text option available because I didn't wanna wait 45 minutes inside since they said the table will be ready at 7:30 did not get, a message saying my table was ready until 9:05 PM after I asked for any updates. Extremely ridiculous. Not acceptable at all with no updates or communication over two hours. I had to reach out. Mind you they did not even respond to my message until over an hour later... I use to love this place, but this was a terrible experience.

Ask the Community - Redwood Cafe

Is there a special meal set for Thanksgiving?

Hi Alice, We will unfortunately be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you for reaching out!

Is walk-in acceptable or reservation is required?

They allow for walk-ins, but for a large party, it's best to call ahead.

Do you have private dinning room?

They do all kinds of events and have different dinning areas

How do i place a reservation?

    Just call them!

    Do you serve lunch? Brunch?

No lunch, no brunch. Dinner only Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5pm

Noticed a couple gluten-free options. My fiancé and I have a gluten allergy and we're wondering if there's other gluten safe dishes and/or toppings for the pasta and pizza?

Most of our menu is available gluten free

    Will Sunday brunch return?

    It's on

Are reservations required or walk-in acceptable?

Walk-ins are acceptable but reservations are highly recommended especially Friday and Saturday.

I don't see reservations option ? How can I make reservations?

You'll have to call and make a reservation.

What type of clothing? It says dressy attire, but i dont want to show up in a dress and look odd

    Dress is fine

Is this place open Christmas Day at all?

    Idk~ call them

Do they offer anything for birthdays?

Yes. They do a little dessert and a song. We had a BD party there with a few women, so they gave us a private room. They were very attentive.

    Is this place kid friendly?

You most certainly could bring your kids there, but it's not a place I they run around. It's more of an intimate semi fine dining experience. A place to go on date night. I don't believe I've ever seen any children there.

Last year they had a scallop dish with polenta and roasted vegetables with some sauce over it what kind of sauce was it though?

    A balsamic reduction sauce.

    Any brunch reviews?

I've eaten there at brunch and it was absolutely delicious. They had an omelet station, a crepe station, prime rib, all the breakfast items you'd love plus a cheese, meats and pastry area. Def would recommend.

I started out with their house made soda - a sparking strawberry drink that was extremely refreshing. We were there early and had the pleasure of sitting at the counter and talking to Tye - the owner/chef and Shauna the wait staff. Dishes are to share. Tye explained that he serves the dishes in particular order to deliver balance with intensely flavored dishes alternating with milder bites. We started with a simple plate of Marcona almonds, Castelvetrano olives and Manchego cheese. We then enjoyed the cabbage with peanut sauce dish - which may sound unusual but was absolutely delightful. We practically licked the plate - in fact asked for a spoon to capture all of the sauce. Next came whipped feta and ricotta cheese served with thinly sliced stone fruit some chili crisp and honey sprinkled with red walnuts and olive oil. This is served with bread slices. It's hard to describe how delicious and flavorful this dish was with such simple ingredients. We were going to order the steak and chimichurri but were talked into the lamb pops - and we are so glad to have tasted these marvelous lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly. In fact they were so good - we went ahead and ordered the steak too - which was extremely flavorful on its own but served with a fresh house made chimichurri. We also ordered the patatas bravas which were perfectly seasoned and cooked - almost crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside with just a perfect level of heat. We finished the meal with the cinnamon rolls - don't know how they cooked these to perfection so quickly but they were fantastic. Bottom line - how have we not been here before! Most important - we will be back!! Thank you Bauhaus for a great meal and dining experience.

Sadly disappointed…read more My friends and I stopped by Commonwealth on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. It was a beautiful day so it was busy for both indoor and outdoor seating. Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.
