Good food, TERRIBLE service. I have had 2 experiences with the Redwood Grill, and both times I walked away disappointed. The first time we went, or in this case I should say TRIED, it was Mother's Day. My husband called the day before to make sure we didn't need reservations since by the time we called they were already booked up, and was informed that just showing up would be fine. We arrive at the restaurant at about 10:45 and were informed by a very rude hostess that there would not be any table available until at least 1:30pm and the odds of getting a highchair for my son were next to none. Suffice to say I was less than thrilled with this response. Regardless of this experience we decided to give them a second chance for Father's Day. Learning from our Mother's Day fiasco, I called in advance and made reservations. We arrived at the restaurant just before our reservation, were seated promptly and given breakfast menus, despite the fact that breakfast is served until 11am and we were seated at 10:55am. By the time the server came to take our beverage orders we had been sitting there trying to flag her down for about 15 minutes so we could get brunch menus. Once our brunch menus and coffee arrived my husband and I discovered to our dismay that the coffee was very badly burnt. When the server came back to take our food orders she seemed pretty surprised, but brought us freshly brewed coffee anyways. When the food arrived I was optimistic, the Scrambled Eggs Crepes looked great, the Home Fries were nice and crispy and my husband's Pulled Pork Sandwich looked AMAZING. My Mother-in-Law and I were both a little disappointed in the crepes, we felt like there could have been more egg, and the cheese sauce didn't really have a whole lot of flavour. However my husband was very pleased with his sandwich, and my son and I really enjoyed the Home Fries and fresh cut fruit. Overall I felt a little let down. After reading all the great reviews I had high hopes, but I will definitely not be giving Redwood Grill a third chance. read more

I would definitely come back to the Redwood Grill. I came here for lunch with my mom. There were several other patrons which is always a good sign and we were seated promptly. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful when choosing our meals. We each had a cup of the soup of the day, which was butternut squash and sweet potato. I actually think my mom was close to licking the bowl it was that good! We also ordered a sandwich to share that we got with fries. It was delicious. I look forward to going back to try some of their desserts which are supposed to be great. The server said the chef was also a pastry chef and that all desserts were made in house. They have a good menu with lots of well priced options as well as some pricier entrees. I would certainly recommend coming here if you're in Bayers Lake looking for a place to eat. Very surprised they don't have more favourable reviews on here. read more

Walked in for brunch, by the time the waitress acknowledged us, it was 15 minutes later. All we wanted was coffee while we waited for food, which is usually on the table right away in the morning. There were maybe 5 tables of people, so not busy at all. We ordered the coffee and waited 20 minutes, no coffee, no food, no explanation, so we got up and left. And the waitress had the audacity to ask us what we were doing. We will NEVER go there again. read more

Awful experience at Redwood Grill. We had reservations and when we arrived no one so much as looked at or greeted us for the first 5-10 minutes we stood there. Our server was rude and rarely came to the table and when she was there she could't even give us so much as a smile. I ordered the soup and it was most disgusting soup I've ever had, just tasted like nothing except pepper, no other flavour. We had to hunt down our server to even get simple things like ketchup. Absolutely would not recommend this restaurant, I've never had such terrible service from a waitress. I wish I remembered her name, although I don't even think she told us. The Redwood used to be a favorite of ours, until there were a menu change. All of the sudden the crab cakes went from big, fresh, and yummy to small and deep fried, the salads were dosed in more dressing than you could drink, and the crepes were soggy. (And prices went up?!) Disappointed in the direction the restaurant went, but we gave it a couple tries and probably won't be back unless in a pinch. read more

I was there yesterday (Sunday) for brunch. It was VERY packed and unfortunately understaffed. I could only see three different waitresses, who did AMAZING despite the obvious pressure of a full restaurant. While I did have a bit of a wait for my food, when it came it was delicious and the waitress was great. I do think they should invest in a better coffee machine or two - I like my coffee piping hot and the machine was unable to keep up with a busy restaurant. 2 thumbs up to the waitresses! read more

Last night I decided to order take out from the Redwood grill. I have eaten there a few times in the last couple of years and it is adequate. I ordered their seafood linguini made with, shrimp, scallops and lobster, and an order of garlic bread with cheese. I asked for the total but the system was down for another 5 min., apparently the hostess could not add the two items plus tax and give me an answer. Easier to do it myself, she knew the price of the seafood dish but not the garlic bread. (do they still teach math in school these days??!!) Upon opening the containers, there was a very small portion of pasta and not a piece of lobster in sight. The garlic bread was stuffed into a small container a little black around the edges, minus the cheese, just as well because it would have been a glued up mess! Called to let them know I wasn't pleased, finally the hostess thought I should speak to manager (what was her first clue??) I was told she would be right there, waited a few min. the hostess came back on the line to say the manager was "doing something" but if I left my name and number she'd be sure to get back to me. So much for customer service. Returned the food for a refund. I don't imagine I'll eat there again or order take out. I definitely will be calling the manager to let her know what I think of her customer service or lack of!! read more
