She handled it so gently and let me know she needed to show it to the head jeweler to discuss pricing. About five minutes later, she came back with the necklace perfectly sealed. The work was flawless. No sloppy welding marks, no visible damage, and no difference in the bar at all. Just precision and care. Then she told me there would be no charge. I honestly had to rush out before I started crying in the middle of the store. Olivia, thank you. You have no idea how much your kindness meant to me today or how much comfort you gave me in helping preserve my mother's memory. I won't forget it. When I pushed back (politely at first), they blamed the J color and some inclusions -- the same stone that was good enough for a $5,860 retail appraisal just a few years ago. $500 is not even close to fair market value for a certified 1.20ct natural diamond in a 14k two-tone setting. I walked away immediately. I understand businesses need margin, but this felt like a pure lowball tactic. If you're thinking of selling or trading jewelry here, be prepared to get insulted on value. The selection in the store looked decent, but after this experience I won't be back and can't recommend them for buying or selling.

They're right across the parking lot from Whiskey River Tattoo and usually have a piercer from there attend and you can go there for piercing care and advise if you have issues so it's nice they're so close. I told the large, black-haired woman I had a pocket watch that I wanted someone to look at for potential repairs. She stated they (Fink's) don't work on anything that wasn't purchased at their store. I found that to be a ridiculous policy but took her at her word. I told her that last time I was in Fink's, a young lady associate had been more than helpful getting the jeweler to remove the back from this very watch. (I wasn't sure how to remove it and didn't want to damage the time piece.) She went on to say "they (the Fink's jeweler who opened my watch back) shouldn't have touched it". I assured this portly, black-haired lady I would not be 'bothering' Fink's again and left the store. On the previous occasion I remembered thinking I was lucky to have such a knowledgeable and gracious jeweler in my neighborhood. But after the older, larger woman treated me like I wasn't good enough to be in the store, I made a vow never to go back to Fink's for anything! There are simply too many other jewelers around who are willing to be kind and polite while I spend my money with them. I have read a number of other 'single-star reviews' on this site and notice a consistent theme: Fink's seems to have a significant problem. They are apparently content to have potential customers run away by some members of their staff who lack common decency and a basic knowledge of customer relations. I will be sure to share my experience with everyone I know who is looking to purchase jewelry or have their jewelry repaired. By-the-way, it occurs to me that a jeweler who can employ a full-time repair person who works 'exclusively on items purchased at their own store', must be selling sub-standard jewelry in the first place. A fulltime employee's salary would inherently require a lot of jewelry needing repairs. Thank you (Fink's) for demonstrating how NOT to treat customers.
