Terrible customer service, it's really difficult to communicate over the sounds of small children running around and screaming constantly. When the shouting and soccer-ball-kicking becomes even too much for the owner, the kids are sent to play in the back alley behind the business, where they scream even louder and antagonize the neighbors and pets all along the back side of the block. So instead of just being rude to the in store customers, they extend that to the entire neighborhood. I suggest Southwest Reef Co on Menaul, or even online, for a much more pleasant experience. read more

Outstanding service in store and livestock rivals anything in Pheonix or Tucson. Just about all the corals in the shop are home grown and they are gorgeous! The staff was very knowledgeable and able to speak to saltwater novices as well as those individuals who come in looking for like-minded experts. They offer a variety of products and services. Great selection of fish and coral. I made a purchase of a tank and used their suggestion of carious fish species that would both thrive and look great in display. They provide a cleaning and maintenance service for added assistance. They have been servicing my tank ever since to ensure I keeping everything at optimal levels (saltwater yanks look great but takes more effort and care than the freshwater option) and always take the time to educate me on what's happening good and bad. Reef- Licious is the best Saltwater store in NM. We have two to choose from but this is our store hands down. The service is amazing. My husband and I recently upgraded from a 150 gallon aquarium to a 300 gallon aquarium. The staff at Reef -Licious went above and beyond to help us with the purchase of our custom tank. When our tank came in the staff came over to make sure our product was to our liking and 100% correct before we signed for it. The next day they came over to help us get the tank inside our home. The owner bought all the necessary equipment with him to make the move as seamless as possible. The service we get is A+ and the patience these guys display here is amazing. We ask lots of questions and seek their help all the time and they are always willing to do whatever it takes to make sure we are satisfied customers. We have made several purchases on livestok from the store and are always very pleased with the outcome. At Reef- Licious if there is anything we are seeking but that is not in stock the staff is always willing to locate it for us specail order. We have asked questions about some live stock asking if they would be compatible with our other live stock and we can tell they genuinely care because they give us honest answers on what to purchase rather then just push to make a sale. We are never given the run around and all the prices we get are fair and comparable to what we see online as far as what we should pay for the quality service we get. We had an emergency with our tank when we were away on vacation and had a house sitter. The sitter called Reef -Licious and they came over same day to fix the issue when we were away. They are now carrying a small selection of fresh water fish and decor. The wood and plants are amazing and so are the fish. I will be driving 21/2 hours to get there happily! The staff was helpful and I had no problems navigating the store in a wheelchair with my service dog. I purchased a used tank that had been previously sold by Reef-Licious. I contacted the staff, and they gave me a very reasonable quote to setup the new tank and do everything needed to get a new reef aquarium owner up and running. These guys were awesome! Incredibly courteous, they arrived exactly at the appointed time, and were super-careful in everything they did. There were exacting to ensure my setup was flawless, especially in checking for leaks or other future plumbing issues. I can't say enough nice things about Reef-licious. I LOVE THIS STAFF!!!! I went inside the shop a few years ago, just to look, and having never owned an aquarium, I was totally impressed and decided to "try" it out. There is no way I could have done this without Jen and Dee, their father and everyone who works there! They guided me along the way, made sure I didn't purchase something that was above my skill level, and answer my calls - anytime of the day or night. Just this past weekend I was out of town and had a house sitter watch my dogs/cats/ and aquarium and my automatic pump was having some problems. With a quick call to Jen, he was at my house within 20 minutes, saving my coral/fish! This is IT!!!. If you are looking for exceptional corals and marine fish this is where to go. Absolutely no other place in town carries the variety these guys do and their prices cannot be beat. Almost every time I go into the store I find things I have never seen, at least not in real life. The aquariums are spotless, no hair algae ,coralline algae or anything else on the glass anywhere. These guys know what to do. I have followed their advice and I watched my reef tank thrive. A few months ago I if purchased a reef set up from them since my old one was completely overrun with hair algae. My amateur experience and improper gear created a perfect environment for the stuff. I worked with Jin and Di to pick an aquarium, sump and stand. They delivered it and then they installed it . I was impressed at how professional they were in making sure everything was working well and everything was how I wanted it. This is my favorite store in Albuquerque. I've been going here for nearly 2 years for all of my saltwater needs. Excellent staff are friendly and know what they are talking about. They actually care about you and the fish/coral! For example, when my grandmother was setting up her 120 gallon saltwater aquarium, she wanted desperately to get a Clown Trigger Fish. I did my research, and warned her against it, but she wouldn't listen. She tried to buy a Clown Trigger from Reef-Licious, but they were able to steer her in the right direction. They have serviced her tank for the last 18 months, and it is bangin'. These are my go-to guys for anything I need (from equipment to livestock to food). Their weekend sales can't be beat ether! Here is my original post, form before they changed their name: Vivid Reef is one of the two exclusive saltwater aquarium stores in my region of Albuquerque, NM. The first thing I noticed when I first walked in were their tanks. They are IMMACULATE! They have two walls devoted to fish, two shallow-pool tanks in the center of their store, and another wall lined with two 300 gallon tanks: one devoted to LPS corals, and the other devoted to SPS. Near the back wall is another 300 gallon reef tank for display. It is incredible: a school of Yellow Tangs, with purple and powdered blue tangs; two pairs of Ocellaris Clowns; and corals and invertebrates galore. The back room, where they sell their equipment, is adorned with a 300 gallon FOWLR display featuring large and dwarf angels, tangs and butterflies. There is a small rack devoted to shrimp, and other crustaceans. The owners are very friendly, and are extremely knowledgeable. They are of Asian (I believe Chinese) decent, so the language-accent barrier may be difficult, but I've never had a problem with it. While they don't offer a guarantee on their livestock, they make sure they are healthy and eating before they sell them. They also offer services, something that their major competitors (as far as I know) do not. These services include tank installation, tank maintenance, tank re-locations, and aquascapes. They service restaurants, apartments, homes and offices, and offer free consultations. My grandmother has them contracted to maintain her 120 gallon FOWLR system, and they have turned it from a yellow water, high nitrate mess into a stunning aquarium. There advice is pretty general, unless they have personally come and seen your aquarium, in which case it is impeccable. When my grandmother's cheep Petco lighting system failed, we went there to ask their opinion on a replacement within a budget. They owner immediately plucked a light off the shelf, and said "This is what you need". The new lights surpass the old in every way, and the price was very reasonable when eBay sells the same light for only $20 less. Prices on some of there merchandise are slightly higher than their competition, and they do not have the variety of equipment available from other sources, but the equipment they do offer is generally of a higher caliber than their competition. Their livestock selection in fairly standard, with exceptions. I have yet to find another store in town that offers Fairy Wrasses, large tangs and angels, and uncommon triggers as often as Vivid dose. For services, fish and advice, Vivid is the place I usually turn to first. I would recommend them to any reefer in Albuquerque. Also, take advantage of their turf war with South West Reef. South West can offer a larger selection of equipment, and Vivid can offer a more diverse selection of live stock. They also do special orders. UPDATE: Vivid Reef recently changed their name to Reef-Licious LLC. Sorry for any confusion. read more
