They have a wonderful selection of quality fish and coral, however, their customer service is pretty subpar.

I was excited to finally get to visit Blue Line Coral today after years of seeing them in the…read moreonline world. Saltwater pickings in Chicago are slim to none, so I was excited to find something just outside my backyard in Naperville. I've been keeping saltwater FOWLR aquariums for 10 years now, but recently started dipping my toes into coral after finishing school and having a bit more income to play with. Staff was super helpful and not intimidating as I asked questions on care requirements and made my selections. Thanks for all the help, and I can't wait to visit again soon.

I'm returning to the saltwater reef aquarium hobby after many years away, and was pretty excited to…read morefind out there was coral aquaculture facility in Naperville as I will only be including captive bred fish & coral in my tank. It's important to me that we do everything we can to preserve the ecosystem these animals originate from. I came across Blue Line Coral from a web search. First, this review is written during the COVID19 Pandemic while DuPage County is under a mask mandate to help limit the spread of the disease. Masks are required to be worn by everyone when in stores and other indoor spaces regardless of vaccination status. When I visited not a single employee, nor other customer, was wearing a mask. As for the store itself, they had a good selection of coral and fish. All of which looked healthy, and we'll presented. As I said above I have been out of the hobby for a long time, so I'm not the best judge of prices, but they didn't seem unreasonable. They also had a selection of dry goods, not huge but most of the EcoTech Marine and Neptune Product lines, some BRS stuff, medications, etc. The staff seemed friendly from my limited interaction as I was just browsing. There is one last point I have to make. This owners have chosen to make their "Thin Blue Line" political beliefs a part of the identity of this store. Both their name and their logo reflect this, but more directly they have a "Thin Blue Line" flag prominently on display behind the register. Some folks see this as a pro-police message, while others see it as a symbol of injustice. By so prominently integrating this with their brand, they are almost forcing you to make a political judgement to shop here. Whether that impacts your shopping decisions is personal, but it does impact mine.

Whether you are traveling with family, friends, or just love animals, this is definitely a Chicago attraction worth adding to your itinerary. Be sure to plan ahead because The Shedd is a very popular attraction, especially during peak travel times. I recommend checking ticket availability and scheduling your visit in advance. There is a lot to explore, and you will want to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy it all! There are also shows throughout the day, including the dolphin show, which runs at set times. A helpful tip is to check the schedule ahead of time or look at the boards throughout the aquarium so you can plan around the shows you want to see. The aquarium itself is beautiful, with a great mix of exhibits featuring animals from oceans, rivers, and different aquatic environments. I loved walking through the different sections and seeing everything from colorful fish to turtles, belugas, seals, sharks, and dolphins. One of my favorite parts was seeing the beluga whales! They are such unique and expressive animals, and watching them swim around was definitely a highlight of the visit. The dolphin show was also a must-see with the amazing tricks and the visible bond between the trainers and dolphins. The Shedd is also very interactive, which makes it enjoyable for both kids and adults. There are opportunities to get closer to exhibits, such as petting the starfish and learning interesting facts about them. This also includes getting to see the beautiful macaw ! We also paid extra for the 4D Penguin Experience, which was absolutely worth it! You have mist spraying on you during the show, and it does a great job teaching you about the animals in a fun and immersive way. The featured animals and shows may change, but the overall experience is definitely worth trying. Great place for kids, adults, and kid-like adults for sure! Overall, the Shedd Aquarium was a wonderful Chicago experience. It combines education, conservation, and the simple joy of seeing amazing animals up close. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in Chicago!

It was about as basic as an aquarium could be. We didn't all 3 of the 4D experiences, shark, octopus and penguin. Pick one. They aren't pricey but trust me they are basic and all the same. Different animals, same effect. This is not a do over for me. We saw it all in no time. We ate in the cafe and it was as expected. Pricey amusement food prices. The food was not bad though. I wouldn't put this aquarium up against others I've visited in other cities. No photos. Oh they did have more "touch the animal" stations than I've seen in other places so that was a positive. You could touch, sting rays, star fish, and some other fish that I don't remember.
