when this theatre first opened back when I was in the 7th grade it was the new hotspot and the best place to go see a movie it took over and eventually put Springfield mall out of business :( I now live in fairfax so it's a 30 minute drive to get to kingstowne but I still go there alot because it's my getaway place and a part of my childhood. CONS 1- most of the auditoriums are small so you have to get there early for you're show or it'll probably be sold out especially during the weekend 2- the seats are kind of old school and not as luxurious as the newer theaters out there. 5 stars for the memories. read more

Just had an awful experience at this theater. First of all, the RXP surcharge of $5 is ridiculous. You are supposedly paying for a larger screen and better theater sound system. The seats have to be the most uncomfortable seating I have ever experienced, and probably belong on a 2 minute amusement ride vice a 2 hr movie. Do NOT waste your money here. I know I will not be back. BTW, concession prices were far too high $9+ for a large soda is a bit of a stretch. read more

Went to the 4PM show today of Beauty and the Beast in theater #16, and a rodent ran over my wife's foot in the first half of the movie, and he or his cousin ran over my foot near the end of the movie....my daughter didn't want to put her feet on the floor. Told a manager after the movie, and he seemed concerned, but somehow I think they already knew--why else were employees walking back and forth in front multiple times during the show (checking rodent traps?). If rodents are in the theaters, they're in the food-prep area. Yuck. read more

Typical stadium seating movie house, usually frequented by teens. Why, why, why can't they make better popcorn? It's just gross! This appears to be a Regal corporate problem, last week I attended a movie at the Potomac Yards location, and I got a mouthful of burnt oil. read more

It's lunchtime, so we ordered lunch. Still standing here 15 minutes later we're still waiting for the hamburger and the last loaded fries.

I have been to a lot of theaters...everything from the classic drive-in theater to Broadway. And yes, there is still a drive-in theater in Ennis, TX. This theater has been hit and miss on my visits. The hot dogs and popcorn are average at best; selection of candy is limited, and the condiment section is downright nasty. And, of course, everything is over priced. To their credit, they do have comfortable seats, large screens, and the sound level is about right each time. The theater rooms are relatively clean early in the day, but the floors get sticky later at night. You can purchase tickets inside with credit cards at automated kiosks, a nice touch, and a way to avoid standing in line outside. I am a night owl, so I do wish they would offer later showings, say starting around midnight. And what gives with all the Fairfax County Police hanging around outside? Sure it may have quite a few teens on the weekends, but I have never felt unsafe in this area. read more

This movie theater is okay, for the price it's fine. It's clean and kept well. I don't have nothing negative to say except they should have more options for popcorn than just butter and salt. They should have different seasonings and japalenos like they do in other movie theaters. The location is great, because they have a variety of food outside the theatre like Asian, Indian, American, etc they also have stores in case you want to go shopping. So you could spend the day shopping eating and end it with a movie. One thing do NOT eat at Pizza Uno's. I gave it a 1 star and you can read my comments on it in the following reviews. read more

Although the theater itself is nice and usually plenty of parking in the parking structure, what ruins it for this place is the stale old popcorn. Considering how expensive both the tickets and the concessions are, I expected to at least receive fresh popcorn. No. Instead, it is all pre-filled bags of cold, stale stuff sitting in the machines that are supposed to be used to pop it. Came here twice, same issue, won't be returning. read more

NEVER AGAIN! Its bad enough people around here don't teach their kids how to behave but in the theater when teenagers ruin the movie for talking giggling and arguing back when an adult tells them to shut up is ridiculous. I asked for management only to talk to another kid that laughed and didn't care. I had to make a phone call to complain to someone that is an actual adult and they didn't care either. It gets the job done, but I'm not a huge Regal fan. It's relatively clean and better than Potomac Yard though, but AMC is so much better. The RPX is a rip-off. Tickets here are more expensive than AMC so make sure you get discounted tickets at Costco. read more

Great movie theater in Kingstowne. Hood concessions, good seatz and nice and clean!! Worth the drive!

We always have a great experience taking our children here. We have never encountered long lines to either get in or get our snacks.

3 stars for location and proximity to many well known restaurants. Inside the theater is clean and provides stadium seating. It is also reasonably close from the highway which is a plus for commuters. I think the seats could be a little more comfortable but maybe I'm just spoiled and like to lounge when I watch a movie:) Weekends can be packed which makes parking and driving through a little bit of a hassle. Good to see the boys in blue to protect and serve. Great place for a dinner and a movie with your date or friends. read more

Regal theaters have a terribly complicated internet presence for mobile devices and Kingstowne 16 is no exception. I want to search for a theater and get a "Now playing" option FOR THAT THEATER, but instead get directed to support sites like Fandango, Showtimes.com, etc. Those sites are advertising movies that aren't even out yet, and you have to filter through the crap to find something you are interested in. Then they want to do a reverse look up to see if the movie I want is playing near me. Regal needs to fire their web development people and get their own sites for their own theaters. It's a lot of work to go through to find that they have a terrible selection for 16 screens. read more

its an ok theater. I suggest going to the popular movies at least 30 to 45 minutes early for the best seats that you want. They tend to fill up really fast because of the small spaced theaters they have. read more

I've been coming to this movie theatre since it first opened and I've never had an issue until tonight! My boyfriend and I purchased tickets from Fandango for the 10:40pm showing of Deadpool. We ended up running alittle late because my boyfriend was low on gas and needed to fill up. We got to the theatre at 10:58pm and all the doors were locked which we thought was strange because they've always kept one door open for people who purchased late movie tickets. Confused, my boyfriend and I knocked on the doors and the staff just stared. They close at 11 which usually means they stop selling tickets at 11, NOT CLOSE ALL DOORS!!! I called the theatre but was unable to speak to anyone because of their automated voice menu. In all the years of coming here they have never locked ALL front doors to the theatre. So here we are just standing there trying to get into a movie that we paid for! My boyfriend approached a security officer who was patrolling in his motorized cart in front of the theatre and told him the situation. He said he would go inside and try to find us some assistance. When he came back he said that the managers and supervisors had already left. So your telling me that there's no one in the theatre that is in management?! How is this establishment running? Frustrated, my boyfriend and I left. We will NOT be returning and plan on taking our business to a BETTER theatre. read more

My comments are about the Regal Cinemas at Kingstown Center in Northern Virginia. I frequent this facility because of its proximity to my home. Interestingly, I find myself going there less and less frequently. A classic example was yesterday May 1 about 7pm. Long line at the box office. Why? only 4 people manning stations on a Saturdy night! I by-passed the box office and went to the automated box office inside. Now I have my ticket - only one "ticket tearer." I'm in. Now to redeem my free small popcorn coupon because I'm a Regal Card Holder. Disappointment. 7 lines of people waiting for concessions. Each line had 10 or more people in it. I pick a line and in the next 15 minutes only move forward 3 positions!! Why? Well, the management at this theatre seems to only hire teenagers who can't count, can't make change, can't move quickly and seem to be characters from a cross between "Dumb and Dumber" and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" as they move slowly and stumbling behind the concession counter. Any first year management trainee should be able to recognize that the amount of energy these kids have to expend to fulfill any order at all is huge. It is nearly comical watching them cross from one end of the counter to the other multiple times to obtain items so spread out that they must be facing exhaustion from the miles they walk behind that counter. They're constantly walking (I can't say "running") into each other. Popcorn in one location, drinks in another, hotdogs behind a second level, buns God knows where, pretzels somewhere else, candy under their noses but the door to that one is locked and they can't open it. Even the concession manager was working a line instead of trying to do something about the horrible organization which was at least 50% of the problem. Ultimately I gave up and went to the administration to complain about the inefficiency. His response, "I'm sorry." Then he turned to the person behind me. Yes, I agree it was sorry. I went on to my movie. I've watched this really nice theatre steadily go downhill since Regal took it over from Consolidated Theatres - the first thing to go was butter flavoring for the popcorn, now the foul smelling butter flavoring is just plain nauseating. You now charge a buck for non-oil flavorings that used to be free. I don't mind paying for concessions, I know that's where you actually get the money to operate but when the biggest money supplier for your industry is so sloppily run, then the next step is adults will stop coming. Your theatres will be overrun with teenagers (oh, wait! That has already happened here!!) Teens don't buy enough concessions because they don't have enough money so your profits will go down. They talk in the theatres so more adults won't come and more profits go down and the next thing you know you have the defunct Springfield Mall - It was nice and all the same things happened until it became an armpit! Get your act together or get ready to close! read more

This movie theatre, ridiculously expensive, is growing on me. Living nearby, I'm learning to "work it" and have noticed the positives. First, it's clean and safe and pleasant seating ( chilly air conditioning).Second; plenty of free parking and has always seemed to have enough good seats available for the crowd; third; good movie times( i.e. lower priced matinees) and finally, good places to eat surrounding the theater. Several of them do movie ticket discounts with a meal - I saw Johnny Rocket's having $7.50 movie tix with meal which is pretty substantial savings. The East Moon Bistro next door in my fave; kids like Noodles & Co. & Panera. On the minus side is the expense; tickets bad enough but snackbar outlandish. This fosters sneakage, and the sneakage opportunities here are good! Better to discuss on line how eating somewhere else first and now, other yelpers say, to join the Regal Club card, can help keep the cost down. read more
