This place is dirty but they have a great sound system. Just don't eat from the floor.

My family and I went to this theatre to watch Hotel Transylvania 2 today. We tend to go to this theatre because of its convenient location. We've probably watched about 5 or so movies here since we moved from NM. Anyways, it's your basic theatre but I had to come to Yelp to write about their STALE popcorn. I love movie theatre popcorn. I get the business side of having the popcorn ready when ordered but when the popcorn is so expensive, please let it be fresh! Even the popcorn they scoop out for your free large refill is stale. No amount of butter will bring it back to life. Each visit I get popcorn and hope for a fresh batch but fail. If they can't get popcorn right, I don't even want to try their other hot menu items. Other then that, enjoy! read more

Go to a better theater, period. It's more expensive than other theaters I have experienced. The sound and picture quality is not up to par with 21st century standards. And, unfortunately for the students out there, they do not accept student discounts on Fridays or Saturdays (and it's only $1 off anyway). The only good item is the free parking, although that is not technically the theater itself. read more

These theaters get a lot of traffic and unfortunately it shows; the cleanliness of this location is not up to typical Regal standards. The lobby and bathrooms are often dirty and disorderly. The movie is selection is standard, parking is not bad, and the area has dining and shopping opportunities. But, if you care about the appearance and orderliness of the space your are visiting you might pick another location and definitely avoid big premiere weekends here. If there is a screaming kid who has a crying baby for a brother, don't expect the managers or staff to do anything about it, even though it is in a R movie. I think I'll wait for it on Netflix or Redbox then go here again. read more

Theaters are clean and well kept. Lots of neighboring restaurants make it an excellent location for "dinner and a movie" date nights. Parking can be a bit of a headache particularly on weekends. Not surprisingly the theater seems to be a mecca for the local middle/high school population. All in all a nice establishment. read more

Went to Kingstowne 16 last night for the first time to see Captain America...Movie was great, however was disappointed with theater..It clearly could have been a very nice theater, but it was very dirty..trash scattered here and there upon the floors, and the consession counter was a wreck i.e. popcorn all over it and the floor, used and unused napkins strewn about, as well as straws and various trash items..i found myself saying over and over, "this place would be really nice if..." The employees and managers seemed either not to notice the state of disrepair, or not care...too bad.. read more

This theater has no shows that start pass 1030, so don't plan on too late of a night. There are many restaurants which is a great bonus. However, its like high school musical or glee on the weekends out front. Park in the garage as the parking lot out front is fubar'd. read more

I went to see Lone Survivor at 5:00 p.m. and my assumption of it not being crowded was off. I guess people get out of school and work at 3:00. Outside and inside was very clean. The ticket was $12. In Florida it's $8.50. Ridiculously priced, but I guess in this area you get paid more but everything costs more so it's relative that no one makes money. Bathrooms work and very clean. Large popcorn and a Slurpee was $15 (fresh and good); total $25 trip (military discount for the ticket). Sound system was good. Seats and theater didn't stink. No sticky floors. Employees were very nice and helpful. I didn't like movie theaters before and this last trip of mine made up my mind. There were these older teens and a gang member dude in a wheel chair who sat up front and kept going in and out of the movie theater for some reason; talking during the movie and not generally loud but annoying. I had to get up from my seat and move as far as possible. Completely rude and disrespectful to the movie and the people in the theater. It was hard to ignore and for the money, going to any movie theater ain't worth it because you can't even watch it without distractions. There was an usher/security dude with a flashlight who walked in and across the walkway during the movie and I was glad to see that. But the ghetto kids shut the hell up and straightened up only as he walked b. MANAGER - I recommend these guys walk in and sit in the theaters for 5 minutes next time. Then after 5 minutes leave and come back in 30 minutes. This could keep the punks from acting up. Not sure how they can afford to come to a movie. They'd be better off at home shooting, punching or yelling at each other. Blockbuster or OnDemand is $5 or less in your own home - order out or pick-up the most expensive food you can desire with drinks and desert and sit in your PJs. Comfortable, no ignorant ghetto people, no gas spent, no time in traffic, no searching for parking, no jackas$s on their phone. Never again. Theaters are only for kids, criminals or people who love giving money away. read more

Love this theater!! I live 4 minutes away from AMC Potomac Mills, but I prefer to drive 20 - 25 minutes to Kingstowne. I love that the theater always seems clean, well organized and pretty quiet. Complete opposite of the ambience at AMC Potomac which tends to be over crowded and very dirty. I usually try to catch movies at Kingstowne, on Saturdays or Sundays, in the early afternoon/evenings. You can catch a flick, then walk around the outdoor mall. There are lots of places to eat as well. I also love, that Kingstowne has matinee pricing, until about 6pm. AMC Potomac only offers matinee pricing for the first show, which could be 10 or 10:30am!! People complaining about the ticket prices, should try the matinees. Definitely cheaper than most of the other theaters in the area. My one gripe? The seats in the RPX auditorium are way to narrow. Yes they're comfortable as far as material, but way too narrow. I can't imagine sitting in them, during the really cold days, when you have to wear a coat. read more

This theater is close to home, but I would choose the AMC Hoffman 22 over this place any day. This Regal Theater is pretty expensive and doesn't offer any major matinee discount like the Hoffman. It's also hit or miss when it comes to the cleanliness of the auditorium you are in. However, the main lobby is always clean, and the food is pretty good. Definitely not my "go-to" theater, but it's in a great location where you can catch dinner and a movie for a date night. read more

This would be a great place to watch movies if the popcorn weren't so bad. It always tastes a day old and the fake butter stuff is not good. I wish they would ask university theatre or cinema arts for some of their popcorn magic. University Mall's theatre popcorn costs about half the price and it's like heaven in a bucket. I give it 3 stars b/c they always have good movies and I find the kingstowne theatre to be clean, including the restrooms, which is nice. The seats are comfy and I all around like it except for the treats - which are a big deal to me when it comes to movies! Concession prices are high and the drink/slushee sizes are too large. When you are buying a sugary drink for a child the last thing you want is a 32oz small size. read more

This is a clean, nice theater. It is located in a nice area with lots of parking and places to eat nearby. The theater is newish and I've never been to a showing that had a bunch of kids yelling things at the screen. I put that in because I have been to places where the show is actually in the audience. Went to a late movie... the theater was dirty but it was the end of the day. But I would think they could have emptied the overflowing trash cans. Staff at food counter were very polite but woefully slow and inefficient. There wasn't any type of line cuing system so people didn't know who was next in line for service. I ordered a beer which the nice lady behind the counter told me the manager would have to come out and pour. So, I stepped aside and waited about 3 minutes. I then asked if the server could ask the manager if he or she could come soon as my movie was about to start. 3 more minutes and no manager. Finally another server, who was clearly annoyed that the manager never came, poured the beer, but I missed the opening to the movie. read more

I went to watch the new Chef movie and I loved the atmosphere at this movie theater. The only bad thing is parking hard to find but I love how I can eat Thai food across the street and then go wash it down with some popcorn and coke while I enjoy the movie and have a great time with my family. I recommend this place to everyone that lives in the area definitely a lot better than the movie theater in ballston mall. read more

Went here Friday August 13 to watch the movie Salt. This was a great choice and I was pleasantly surprised. The theater itself was very big and had about 14 different movies playing. The actual rooms weren't big but that's fine because I don't personally like huge theaters. The place was clean, and workers were very kind and helpful. The surrounding area has very nice selections to choose from if you get hungry. The only thing that I didn't like (no fault of the theater) is that this area is a teen hangout area and it is packed full of kids. I like the intimate area at night but the teens messed up the mood. read more

Finally my husband and I had little bit of time to go on a movie date after having our baby. We were really looking forward to seeing Flight. We arrived 35 minutes early, everything was going perfect, we even thought we would have the theater to ourselves since it was an early movie until.....this other couple arrived and even though there was plenty of room they decided to sit right behind us but one seat over to the right. Well, the wife decides she is going to take off her shoes and put her feet on the seat right next to my husband's head. Totally made my husband uncomfortable to have some stranger's bare feet next to his head and the movie had not even stared yet. I proceeded to ask her to please put her feet down, she did but instantly her husband jumped in and said using profanity that no; his wife was not going to put her bare feet down so sure enough she puts them back up saying that we don't own that seat. I said to them that we did not feel comfortable and thought it was rude to do what they were doing. Again, telling me to shut the f--- up she kept her bare feet up(rude!) At that point my husband tells the other man to not talk to me like that and to have his wife put her feet down. I quickly went to get security because I did not want things to get out of hand because these people had no class. As the manager and I were walking back I was explaining to him all that was going on but didn't really give much details thinking that things would be simple. Long story short, the other couple denied everything and lied! Saying that my husband threatened to knock him out(those are the words the other man used) and that they had not done anything. Then the unimaginable happened. The manager asked my husband and I to leave, when I was the one who went to get his help! My husband then says no, if we are leaving they are leaving too so then the manager says ok. I still don't understand why we were asked to go. I feel that the manager made a poor choice on handling this matter. We were the ones being harassed. I am very disappointed. It reminded me of another experience I had there yrs. ago when an other manager told me that I should not watch pg13 movies and then complain of the noise. Very disappointed. read more

This has to be the worst managed theater I've ever been to. The staff is rude, the concession stand area is disgustingly littered with popcorn and trash, the service is slow, and the prices are ridiculous. $14 for a bottle of water and bag of popcorn. I could have bought a case of water bottles and 10 times that amount of popcorn at the grocery store. This place makes me not want to go to theaters to see movies. We went to Kingstown Regal theater to see a movie. We got there about ten minutes early. Commercials were running but there was no sound (not a bad thing). When the previews started running there was still no sound. We went and talked to the employee in the lobby and let him know there was a problem with the sound. He said he would talk to someone. Ten minutes went by and we talked to him a second time. Again, he said he would talk to some one and again nothing happened. A total of 22 minutes of previews and commercials and still no sound. We talked to him a third time and told him that there was no sound. Once again, he said he would contact someone. After ten minutes of silent movie we gave up and headed to the lobby to get our money back. At no time did anyone from the theater come and talk to us to explain what was happening or offer us our money back. We talked to the guy who kept reassuring us the problem was being addressed. He told us he could not help us with our refund, we would need to talk to the manager. Of course, this meant waiting in line for the cashier so he could get the manager. We spent more time waiting for the manager to come out and more time for her to get us replacement passes. 45 minutes, no movie and an indifferent attitude. We told her she did not seem to care. She said she did care but some one who cared would have come into the theater to tell us what was going on and give us options. They would not hide in the back room until forced to come out because no one else could issue us the refund. read more

The staff at the concession stand is HORRIBLE. Went to a movie there a couple days ago, and it was the second consecutive time I've gone there where the service was absolutely horrible. Put up some damn ropes or something to make lanes for each register. After the people in front of me were served, I stepped forward to the counter and was pushed aside by another guy in full view of the employee. This woman proceeded to serve the guy who pushed me out of the way while I stood there staring at her. This must be common practice at your theater if she wasn't even fazed by it. I decided not to give your location another cent of my money, and I will never come back again. I'll go out of my way to patronize your competitors. read more

Worst cinema I have ever experienced. Showed up at 11am for a 11:20am show. No one at the ticket counter, went inside and saw a sign stating to buy your tickets at the concession. Super long line and only two registers open. Finally get to the front for the cashier to take my order, had to repeat constantly what tickets I wanted to purchase. Then when I ordered my concessions - 2 kids movie packs, the cashier had to put the boxes together then finally put the popcorn in it. Then went searching for kids cups. Found the kids cups and filled the soda only to not have any lids. So...once again he had to search for lids. After all said and done, didn't make it into the theatre until 11:30. Not mad at the employee at all. He was an older gentleman with a cane. He was trying his hardest but sadly management or whoever didn't do their job and staff accordingly especially with it being a holiday. With other movie theaters around this is my last time at this one. read more

The theater is steadily improving. There has been improvement in the customer service, the cleanliness and the quality of the food. I'm writing this review today because of the customer service. When traveling with kids, it is usually helpful if one adult stay in the concession line while the other find seats with the kids. This typically put the adult in the concession line in a precarious position to bring all of the goodies back to the seat. Well today was my day and I can only praise the Kingstowne manager. The manager saw that I would have difficulty reaching the seats and assisted by carrying some of my food to the theater. I have never had that type of customer service being offered and it definitely has change my perspective in chosing this theater as my first choice versus my second. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is due to the popcorn running low and already packed popcorn was poured into my containers. The popcorn wasn't stale, it just wasn't hot out of the kettle. Great date night theatre!! Clean venue, pleasant staff, and current and new movies. Friday night is always packed.

Clean, nice seats, good sound, large screens. Still, at $18 per ticket, it's overpriced. I don't think it's worth it.

Concession stand menu screen; the font size way too small and even waiting in line it is difficult to make out size and cost of food items. Patrons in the theatre still get on their phones while watching the newest Spyder Man 2017 movie on a July 22, Saturday evening. Theatre 3; can hear the air condition unit turning on and off during its cycle while the movie is playing. Restrooms on that size of the building are clean and well ventilated to use. My husband and I come here for date nights often and love the environment. It's never "too" crowded for a theater, it's clean, the staff is great, and it has a great variety of food both in and around the theater. I've never been disappointed. read more
