Recently went to Regalia for an outing with friends. You almost forget you're in a intimate neighborhood restaurant. Unlike other restaurants in the neighborhood you truly feel the upscale city experience. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and welcoming but most importantly the food was SO GOOD! I ate here with 5 friends, and the service was excellent despite it being a busy evening. I had the salmon and tried someone's mushroom risotto, both were prepared well and flavorful. Pinot was also good. The owner visited our table and he's quite personable, although I had a hard time understanding due to his strong accent. Staff was incredibly friendly and the ambiance is exceptional. However the food was even better. Each dish was beautifully cooked and perfectly balanced. The portion sizes were ideal and allowed us to comfortably have dessert--which you must order because the chocolate lava cake is decadent. 12/10 experience. I am not impressed often; especially not lately. Do not even hesitate- this restaurant is a must try. An enjoyable experience from beginning to end, with very reasonable prices, Regalia is a star with the attention to detail you expect when you dine. So you'll go, and I'll have a longer wait time for reservations or an impromptu walk-in that I've enjoyed before word really gets out about this place, but it's worth it because I'd rather sing their praises from the mountain tops and see Regalia succeed. I've been here 5 times already and have tried most of the menu items. There is not a single thing that disappointed me. The complimentary bread with, not olive oil, not butter, but a garlicky bean spread to greet you when you sit down, makes you feel like home from the very beginning, and teases you that there is much more delight to come. The daily specials are always mouthwatering. The soups of the day are done to perfection (not too much cream which personally I think ruins most soups). The desserts are delectable. I would call out specifics but you know what you like, and if they have what you like on this menu, you will most likely love how Regalia does it. It's classic Italian with a modern twist. Homemade to the core, you can taste it in every course. Every bite shows me the chef truly cares about making food of great quality that people will enjoy. This restaurant is the beautiful child of folks who have been in the restaurant business for decades, and they absolutely showcase everything they have learned right here in this sophisticated, cozy building in Edgewater. They will greet you like you're family, their staff is top notch (they even remember to bus the table as you're enjoying each course! I thought this was a lost art!), the music is on point and just loud enough so you can still enjoy your dinner conversation but enjoy the added ambiance. Would order a side of spaghetti next time but really one of the better parms in the area. Reasonable prices for wine and comparable restaurants in area. Highly recommend! read more

Delicious and a beautiful, soothing vibe. Went on a Monday night and they were playing a soft, jazzy play list. Cocktails were crafted with care. Had a lovely petite Syrah with my gluten-free pasta. So good! We had the zucchini fritters special and it was perfect. The hand stuffed burrata was creamy and the beefsteak tomatoes were full of flavor. Portions on the smaller size, but they're definitely enough. Great place! read more

Ever since we lost B'way Cellars last Sept., Edgewater had no upscale dining options. Then Regalia opened in the old "Income Tax" space and has been our at-least-weekly go-to ever since. A dream come true: Spiaggia-quality food & wine within a very short walking distance--yet with a neighborhood feel and no need to dress up (though I almost want to); for Northern Italian fusion food of this quality the menu prices--while not fast-casual cheap--are quite reasonable. My husband and son are cocktail aficionados and rave about the imaginative (as well as the classic) drinks. The wine list, except for a couple of CA choices, is all-Italian, well-chosen and fairly priced (larger by-the-glass selection than most places). Everything here is wonderful, even though it's a challenge for a low-carb eater like me to resist the terrific pastas (best cacio e pepe I've had outside Rome), risottos and especially desserts (the almond semifreddo flambe is worth the insulin spike). Appetizers are terrific--two different carpaccios, artichokes, burrata Caprese, soup, salads, etc. The fish (both the salmon and the specials, often branzino) are exquisitely fresh and beautifully prepared--as are the meats, including the veal dishes, chicken saltimbocca and spatchcocked pan-roast chicken, and Tuscan steaks. (Specials have included lamb chops, and various takes on osso bucco: veal, lamb, even wild boar). And like Cellars, they graciously allow me to order a second veg. instead of polenta, risotto or (silky) mashed potatoes. The only downer (which doesn't warrant losing that fifth star) is that they don't yet have a working espresso machine, nor coffee...but that housemade caffecello and limoncello more than make up for it. It is so good that Cellars' chef-owners have dined here! I love introducing this place to everyone I can, and am delighted to learn that they now have dinner on Sundays as well. read more

Had an absolutely delicious meal at Regalia! We arrived without a reservation but were happy to be seated immediately. The place was hoping for a Thursday night. They brought us delicious focaccia and a garlic (I think white bean) dip for it. It was delicious. We had two cocktails which were also fantastic. For our entrees, I had the veal parmesan which was fantastic. The meat was tender and the chop was massive. We also had the short rib with risotto. Everything was wonderful and we will certainly be back. Prices are a bit higher than other restaurants in the immediate area, but the quality of food and dining experience is most definitely in line with the prices.I highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic delicious meal. read more

WOW, what a hidden gem! Came for my daughter in laws birthday. Absolutely excellent! Drinks, Appetizers ( calamari best) dinner ( I had salmon fantastic) all entrees our entire party RAVED about. Service so professional and attentive. The owner even bought our beautiful dessert that lite up the room. It's well worth the expense and plenty of parking and outdoor seating if you'd like. Not to mention a really nice restaurant IPEN on Monday night. Which is pretty hard to find. I highly recommend!!! read more

I was so pleased with our dinner tonight at Regalia. 4 of us ate and drank very well for a very reasonable price! Mushroom risotto with shrimp was amazing!! Calamari, ceasar salad, baked Brie were all amazing! Tiramisu was obviously home made and perfect! Service was perfect as well! So excited to have this place in Edgewater. I went there last night with friends because we wanted to try something new and heard the food was good, plus it's in Edgewater. We were greeted with a nice gentleman who was in front & were seated right away. We sat down, water came right away & then our waitress came, don't know her name, she never introduced herself. We don't know if she was in a bad mood or not, but she was strictly business and very rushed to get us in & out. Hospitality is everything & she was lacking in that department, as well as personality and attitude. When you go out to dinner it is supposed to be a pleasant experience, ours was the opposite! I asked her if we could have separate checks & she said she could accommodate us. I ordered a Chardonnay and another person ordered a Cabernet. She didn't even give us a moment and wanted our entree orders. Our wine came and there were 2 Cabernets brought to the table. I saw that and asked her what kind of wine it was, she said Cabernet and I told her I wanted a Chardonnay, she replied with oh, I thought you wanted a Cabernet. Pay attention! Another friend had a question for her and as soon as I said chardonnay, she left again & he was left hanging. This happened throughout the entire evening, she was good at leaving us dangling! I ordered the chicken parmigiana which wasn't on their menu, but she said they could make it. It was the worst parmigiana I have ever tasted, I can't figure out why everyone raves about it, maybe they are not used to really good food, to each his own. I usually take home the entree but opted not to take it with me, why bother. Our bill came and wouldn't you know it, one person got his bill & the other two bills were combined into 1 bill. I had to flag her down again & tell her we each wanted separate bills. She took the receipts, crumbled them up & then gave us separate bills. No apologies, nothing. This coming to our table and then leaving suddenly without getting a chance to get our questions answered, happened throughout the evening. I normally tip 20%, but only gave her 10%, my friends gave her 0%, which is what I should have done. As we were walking out of the restaurant the man at the front desk must have asked them about their experience and they must have said it wasn't good because when I got to the door the man asked me what was wrong & I said it was a bad experience, food wasn't good & I didn't say anything about our waitress, I should have. He told us that if we would come back he would comp our dinner, which was a very nice gesture but why would we do that if the food was uneventful. I give a restaurant 1 chance and if the experience is bad, I do not return. As far as our waitress, she needs to check her attitude at the door. There are too many restaurants in Chicago where I will be spending my money! read more

I went to this restaurant with my cousin and her husband. It was our first time there. I arrived first and the place was packed. We had made a reservation in advance. It's not a huge place, it's somewhat small. We got a booth which I was happy with, don't think a regular table would have been to comfortable as the tables are pretty close. The host as I entered was very friendly and seated me after 5mins. The waiting staff who brought us water and and this terrific bread was very friendly. The food and drinks was amazing, everything from the salad to the dessert. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is for two reasons; one of the appetizers was a shrimp dish in a white type sauce and it was very good. However, they left the tale on the shrimp so I had to use my fingers to take it off. This was pretty messy. The second issue I had was with the server. She seemed friendly at times, and at other times somewhat rude. She didn't like that we were incorrectly pronouncing some of the dishes. I would be asking her questions because at times I didn't understand some wording she was using, she didn't like that. Again, sometimes nice and sometimes rude/cold. I would return requesting a booth and hoping that I don't get that server. read more

Simply one of the best meals I've had in a long time and I frequent a lot of great Chicago restaurants. It was one of those experiences and dishes you continue to think about days after the meal. As a discerning foodie, I was completely surprised by the incredible flavors, large portions, exceptional service, and cozy and romantic vibe for an unassuming neighborhood restaurant. I can definitely be picky when it comes to Italian so was skeptical. We stopped in and weren't really hungry. Spilt a chicken saltimbocca. It was done perfectly with a lot flavor.
