Regalia is a must visit restaurant whenever you're in Edgewater! Regalia has managed to blend the vibe of a small neighborhood restaurant with high end cuisine. This is the perfect date night spot. I highly recommend making a reservation because Regalia is typically busy. During the warmer months they have outdoor dining so the restaurant is even busier. They typically reserve the bar area for walk-ins but it's not promised you won't have to wait to get seated. My go-to dish is the Chicken Parmigiano but I recently had the Rigatoni alla Buttera and it has become my new favorite dish. I've also been able to try the Rigatoni Ragu Alla Rustico and it's also delicious. Truly you cannot go wrong with any of the dishes. The food is priced similarly to other Italian restaurants in the area. The dishes are large so you could easily get two meals from your order. The thing I love the most about Regalia is that the food is consistently good. It's hard to find a place that invests in quality food and creating an atmosphere. The manager / owner will periodically walk around the restaurant and check-in with customers to see how everything is going. The one con is Regalia tries to optimize their space so the tables are tightly packed into the restaurant. It sometimes feels like you're dining with the table next to you because the tables are so close. If you're someone that needs to use the restaurant frequently don't sit in the inner chair because you almost have to shift your table over to get through. Overall, I love visiting Regalia!

Almost perfection! I had the pleasure of trying: Focaccia (free!) - I've been to several restaurants where focaccia isn't free and costs more than just a few bucks. This one put all of them to shame! It was made with care and cooked to a perfect soft and pillow consistency. It also had tremendous flavor both from the dough and the crust. Then there was the dip, a delectable blend of oil and some kind of dressing, giving just the right amount of savoriness to the olive juice. Even though I don't believe in stuffing myself with bread before a meal, I happily devoured the entire plate on both visits, like I'd never seen bread before. (10/10) Burrata Caprese - A superbly executed caprese. The ingredients, especially the burrata, were of the highest quality. When it comes to balance, the tomato, cheese, basil, oil, and balsamic, plus herbs and spices were all in perfect amounts. While not mind-blowing on its own, I don't believe this dish is intended to be; rather, it is meant to be something simple and delicious. (9/10) Tuna Carpaccio - This dish is perhaps most emblematic of why I started this review off with the phrase "almost perfection." This dish has the foundations of something excellent; however, execution errors bring it down to somewhere between "good" and "very good." I loved the quality of the tuna and that it was mostly allowed to take center stage. The chipotle aioli, aided by the serranos, bestows a savoriness and light heat. The soy offers salt, the lime acid, and the crystallized garlic rounds out the experience. The execution stumbles and fumbles: On both occasions, I found the amount of chipotle aioli too light, with some pieces of tuna getting minuscule amounts, if any. It is a terrific ingredient, and I wish Regalia was a little less stingy with it. On my first visit, the amount of soy was a little over the top, leading to a high salt content and a slight overpowering of the tuna. On the second visit, while the salt level was fine, the fish felt as if it had been taken out of the freezer 20 minutes ago, and while not ice cold, when at a colder-than-fridge temperature, its flavors were muted by the cold. (7/10) Rigatoni Ragu Alla Rustico: This is the dish that won me over and made Regalia the kind of place I would recommend and take my friends to. The only 'notes' I have are entirely matters of personal preference. If I cast these aside (as I should), we are left with something that couldn't have been better. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente and served with an exact amount of flavorful, hearty sauce and herbs. Then there is the meat--not only was it not skimped on in the slightest, but it was some of the most tender protein I've ever had, the kind that genuinely melts in your mouth. I was also fond of the portion size, as it was both something that could easily be shared with a table or eaten by one without overstuffing. The ricotta was also a very nice touch, as it offers some creaminess that can be added at will while eating. My only notes are: 1. At a different Italian place, the ricotta was a little more melty, making it ever-so-slightly easier to integrate during consumption. I think this may be due to a difference between one using Italian ricotta and the other American ricotta. 2. It would have been interesting to have a spicy option... but this is coming from someone that once got 24 bottles of hot sauce for Christmas... do with that what you will. (11/10) Amalfi Coast (drink) - Thoroughly enjoyable! A beverage that had just the right amounts of boozy, bitter, sweet, and tart. It was the kind of summer cocktail that is amply refreshing and citrusy, while not hiding the alcohol within. (10/10) Drago Rosso (drink) - While containing a proper pour of tequila, this cocktail was less spirit-forward than the Amalfi Coast. This, it turned out, was a good thing, for it permitted everything else to shine. It had some sweetness and tartness from the Cassis, a little acid from the lime, a little bite from the ginger beer, and just a faint whisper of heat thanks to the Hellfire bitters. (10/10) Service: The bartender, Kyle, is incredible. He is friendly, welcoming, personable, and down-to-earth. The food and drinks all came out fast, and I felt it was a place where I could spend as long as I wanted. Prices/Value: The value at Regalia is excellent! While the prices on their own might not be cheap, what you get in return is all around of the highest quality. As for the drinks, $14 for cocktails as amazing as these are a steal! Vibe: A blend of charming, rustic, and modern. The high ceiling with exposed beams, a tasteful use of wood and brick, and a wall with flowery wallpaper, but not really "grandma's house." The music was played at a reasonable volume, too. Final verdict: Regalia is an all-around incredible Italian restaurant that does its thing incredibly well. Amazing food, drinks, and service at reasonable prices. A true hidden gem that is worth the journey to Edgewater.

Came here on a Friday night with a group of three. We didn't have a reservation so we were stuck sitting outside, which was fine since it was a nice night but a bit loud since it is on Broadway. I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you definitely want to sit inside! Servers were friendly and my rigatoni was amazing, best Italian food after the restaurants in Eataly in my opinion.

A random evening in Edgewater, and we found ourselves at Regalia for some good Italian food. What a surprise! Although it feels like a bar, with a nice '80s soundtrack blaring overhead, we settled into a comfortable booth and feasted on excellent dishes. First, the softest, tastiest focaccia bread with a smooth white bean and olive oil dip, followed by a deep, tasty bowl of Rigatoni Vodka - perfectly al dente rigatoni in an evenly spice vodka cream tomato sauce. Not only filling, but kept my taste buds happy with every bite. The dish of the evening was probably the special of the day, Lobster Ravioli - perfectly cooked ravioli filled with cheese and lobster bits, including plenty of bites of lobster scattered throughout the plate. Thumbs up for the spatchcocked Roasted Chicken and the Caccio e Pepe as well. But one big problem - no room for dessert! That just means we'll have to come back and not fill up on entrees. Thank you Regalia for a great evening! If you haven't tried Regalia, you're missing out on some great Italian food!

To start off, we came here for a dinner with 5 in the party. I had made a reservation ahead of time and even got the confirmation email. Upon entering the restaurant to be seated, my friend had mentioned to the host that we had a resy. That was not the most pleasant interaction and her response was accusatory to say the least. When I finally spoke to her, she accused me of not picking up my phone stating that she called me to confirm the reservation. - which I never got. From my experience, even if I missed a call, I usually get a voicemail or a text. Anyway, when I showed her my call history, she calmed down and went from attack to apologetic mode. That definitely left a sour note. To add to the nuisance, she sat us at a table outside that was literally meant for 2 people. We actually had to speak up to have some tables move around for us to accommodate the party size. Now to the food. We ordered the following: - Bottle of wine - Fritto Misto - Beef Carpaccio - Pear and Arugula Salad - Pesto Risotto with Scallops - Rigatoni Vodka - Side of meatballs - Trofie Al Pesto - Veal Parmigiana - Short ribs Overall everything was delicious. The most underwhelming dishes were definitely the veal parmigiana, short ribs and frito misto. The veal was salty, the short ribs were lack luster, and the frito misto was not as crispy as other places where I've ordered it. I personally would've given this place a 7/10, but can't due to Yelp's scoring system. This score was due to poor host service, seating, and some underwhelming dishes.

Wow Regalia should be called Regalo coz it's a real gift to the neighborhood. Great vibe inside, darkly lit, romantic and cool vibe. Food is fantastic. 2nd time here and waited a bit for my reserved table (45 min) but it was fun drinking at their bar and we're not the type to go Karen just coz our table wasn't ready lol. You gotta go before the hoi-poloy discover it!

Just off the charts. Possibly one of the best meals I've ever enjoyed. I skipped right to the entree, skipping I've the apps, soup and salad. Though the couple we were dining with had had the mushroom soup, which they said was so good they couldn't share. I ordered the Fettuccine Mare Mare; assorted seafood in a tomato white wine sauce. The seafood to pasta was definitely on the seafood's side, all of which was just so perfectly prepared. My wife had one of the day's specials, Lobster Ravioli. Thankfully she shared some; again the lobster to pasta was very generous and delightful. The portions were such that we all skipped the dessert offerings though from what we saw going by our table they were all shareable. Our server, Dylan, was very attentive and entertaining throughout our dinner. The owner, Dejan, made several stops by our table to ensure that all was well.

It's one of those places that you find yourself talking about long after the meal is over. The garlic bread alone is worth the visit. They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. For appetizers, we ordered the While Garlic Loaf Focaccia and the Stuffed mushrooms. I wished I took a video when the focaccia arrived. The waiter, holding a plate with a round and fluffy focaccia and proceeded to pour the garlic et al on top of the bread! Very freshly-made and fabulous! The stuffed mushrooms were also cute delicious! This is a rare time where the stuffing had spinach below the stuffing - excellent! I remember seeing (and enjoying) this while I visited Italy. Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The Gnocchi meat sauce was the standout here, being very flavorful, but not as heavy as some other restaurants. The Gnocchi were dense - not fluffy as I had expected. But the sauce flavor was vivid. The Baked Burrata Lasagna was oh, so perfect! Many layers of al dente pasta separates with a tasty meat sauce. Many times I have had lasagna that was either over-baked, or had limp pasta. Here, the lasagna shined! So large of a serving that my wife could not finish it, much to her dismay . . . I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! But, the most amazing, and probably the most delectable part of the evening was finishing off with a luscious Chocolate Cake! OH, WOW!!! The cake was certainly moist and smooth. Yes, smooth! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness! I only wished that I ordered some hot coffee - the cake would have gone well with a great cup of coffee! Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant! The old-town decor, the dim lights, the fantastic food (just like of the Italy of old!)- all contributing to a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!

Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes.
