The food was...super salty. We ordered chicken Marsala, shrimp scampi, chicken Francese, and a pepperoni pizza. With soft drinks and two glasses of wine the bill was about $126. I love chicken Marsala, Carrabas has the best. I didn't expect it to be better than Carrabas but I expected it to be better than when I cook it at home. I tried dipping my chicken in my water glass to wash the salt off but it was ridiculous. My mother in law got the scampi. She likes salt, she ate the shrimp, but she couldn't eat the noodles. I tried the noodles and her dish was even saltier than mine. My husband got the chicken Francese. He said that was salty too. The pizza was ok but the crust was as hard. I didn't want to complain but when three of ours meals are really salty , it's not acceptable. I didn't want them to send out any dishes like what was served to us to other patrons. Sometimes the kitchen gets their sugar and salt mixed up. I was hoping that they checked this once we complained. The waiter apologized and tried to make it right by offering a dessert. We didn't want it but ended up taking it to go. Our meal was comped in advance (not because we complained) so we weren't too worried about it. If I had to pay for it out of pocket, I would have been more upset. Hopefully the cooks are tasting what they send out in the future. read more

Regalo was not the gift that its name implies, rather it's high priced and low quality Italian. The evening started on a bad note with the cocktails when the martini I ordered was served warm and not chilled. We had the bruschetta appetizer and tried each of the options. The presentation was actually quite nice but the flavors were not remarkable. I then had a Caesar salad that was fine but nothing special either. For my main course I ordered the pasta bolognese with a meatball and sausage. The pasta was overcooked, bolognese lacked any depth, meatballs flavorless and sausage was mediocre. Even though everything we've heard has been negative, we are always excited to try something new in Toledo, and this week our local newspaper gave Regalo a surprisingly good review, so we popped in the same day to see what it was all about. And long story short, it's not really about anything. From the atmosphere, which is non-existent, to the service which was disinterested at best, to the food that was one step down from hotel food (nice plating, bland to awful flavors), we will not be back. And honestly, it's the atmosphere alone that kills what could otherwise be a passable, generic, Americanized Italian restaurant. The restaurant is in the middle of the casino, with no actual walls buffering you from the slot machines, and canned top 40 music. And if for some odd reason, you thought to take your significant other out for a date, as the couple next to us was on, you'll be saddened by your choice in nice clothes, when you're surrounded by elderly casino junkies wearing shorts and tank tops. It's just a bizarre setting with marginal everything. There is zero reason to go to Regalo unless you're already at the casino and starving. And even then, I'd recommend just jumping in your car and driving across the river to Downtown Toledo. Anywhere else is better than this place. read more

I REALLY wanted to like this place! We used to come to the previous restaurant that occupied this space. I love Italian food, but not here.... I made reservations online for 2 for my husband's birthday, which I noted in the reservation. We came early so we could gamble a bit before we ate. Our reservation was for 5pm. We showed up at 4:45. The restaurant was almost empty and the hostess was talking to another person who I believe worked at the casino (she had on a uniform) We waited a few minutes for her to finish, then she looked at us and asked how many. I told her we had a reservation for 2 for 5. She asked our name, then looked at her screen for probably 45 seconds, looking like she couldn't find our name. Then took us to a table. While we were eating, I kept getting messages on my phone that our table was ready and they were going to cancel our reservation at 5:30 if we did not check in! Nothing was mentioned about a birthday celebration, why ask on the reservation if it isn't going to at least be mentioned. I believe the hostess never checked us in, hence the messages I kept receiving. Our server was Janis, and she was extremely nice and efficient. She brought out a basket of bread that was good,but almost wet? I am used to bread being crusty on the outside. We ordered bruschetta for an appetizer and both of us liked it, but we didn't love it. It had a lot of fresh garlic on it to the point that it was almost hot. Raw garlic is hot. The Caesar salad was good, mine with a couple of pieces of anchovies. I ordered a 6 oz. filet that was cooked perfectly on garlic mashed potatoes with green beans. The husband had spaghetti and meatballs. He said the meatballs were good, but he did not finish the spaghetti and did not want to take it home. My meal was extremely salty! I like salt, but this was over powering. Between the salt and the garlic, it made for a mostly disappointing meal. I still taste garlic the next day. I had to drink 2 bottles of water after we got home because I was so dry from the salt. Not only is it sickening, but it is criminal for the staff to know you have heart failure, and she intentionally douses your food in Salt TWO times in a row! Its brought up to management, and even another employee said they saw her "dump salt on the salmon" If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions definitely avoid this place at all costs. Lots of bad reviews on here for Regalo. We were seated promptly nd got water and bread. Our drinks came next and we ordered apps. For apps we got the table side prosciutto and the table side cacciio e Pepe.. It took forever to get our apps and our waitress took our entree orders while we were waiting. Finally the table side stuff arrived. Proscuttio was sliced too thick but was very good. caccio e Pepe was way too saucy but tasted good. Our entrees came while we were eating our apps which is a big no no, esp at a higher end restaurant. The food was all good, the spaghetti sauce was good and we had good portions. The service was very poor. We had to ask for more water, she never checked on us while we were eating and she brought the bill while we were still eating. Our party of three went to Regalo's on St. Patrick's Day weekend to experience it for the first time. We will be back. The atmosphere was perfect for a casino restaurant - modern and cool. Despite being in a casino, we were able to converse normally, which is not always the case. The service was exceptional. The food was delicious and plentiful. I had the spaghetti and meatballs (my go to test dish to see how "Italian" a restaurant is.) It passed with flying colors. (If you are expecting Ragu from a jar, you'll be disappointed.) Despite the many poor reviews here we decided to give this restaurant a try. The chicken Parm the chicken was rubber. I asked to exchange for meatballs which the server agreed to do. The meatballs came out, the first meatball I started to eat had something hard in it, turned out to be a piece of plastic I believe. The Mrs had the Alfredo, which lacked flavor. My husband and I visited here for the first time last night and we definitely were not impressed. The food was barely warm when it came out. We started with the meatball trio which came out 2 minutes after ordering. They were barely warm the sauce was cold and the cheese was not even melted. He order the lasagna, it had almost no cheese and was very dry and needless to say was also just warm. I order the chicken francese again just warm. I'm not a fan of the wine sauce the broccoli was tough and chewy. I visit Hollywood casino frequently I may give it another try but at this point I would rather eat at Sportbook. read more

I have eaten at Regalo 3 times since it opened. My first impression of it was the amazing smells when entering. The bread was an herby foccacia that I instantly fell in love with (and I am usually not a bread person). I ordered the Calamari as an appetizers and was pleasantly surprised that it was strips and they were tender, juicy, and the sauce they were served with had a tangy bite to it. The main dishes I ordered were Cavatelli, Hollywood Diablo, and Fettuccine Trulusio. The quality of the pasta reminded me of times I actually ate in Italy as a child. The sauces were flavorful and palate pleasing. I was surprised, considering the newness of the restaurant, how knowledgeable the staff was and the level of service I received each time I went. The desert offerings were varied and I tried them all over the 3 times. The rainbow torte was both unique and reminiscent of Italian Rainbow cookies I had in New York when I would visit with my father. The pana cotta was a silky blast of flavor I was unprepared for. I would order anything I previously have ordered from this new gem of a restaurant again gladly. I will be back and I would honestly recommend it to anybody with a decerning palate. read more

Regalo Italian Restaurant inside the Casino, claiming to be "Authentic Italian Cuisine" does not live up to this label. As fans of Italian cuisine, it was a disappointment on many levels. First, the noise level was unbearable. The service was unreasonably too fast as if the goal was to rush us out as fast as possible. As we started on our salads, our entrees arrived. Deserts were soon pitched before we finished our meals. Regarding the food, the salads were enjoyable, particularly the Caesar salad. My wife ordered Baked Cavatelli, the pasta was over cooked, and the marina had too much hot sauce. Suggestion: teach servers to pronounce the Italian dishes.
