Always prefer supporting more local coffee shops. Stopped by on my way back from Porto's and saw the great reviews and decided I had to try it. Customer service was great! They were nice enough to remake the coffee I ordered when I felt my coffee wasn't really hot (it was afternoon and I just ordered the house coffee so I'm sure it was as warm as it could be by that time). Lucked out and found a metered spot right outside the cafe on Brand, but it does seem like it could be tricky to find parking depending on time of day. It's located on a pretty bustling section of Brand, lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Cool industrial-style coffee shop inside. They roast their own beans in house, and sell their own bagged coffee too, along with other merch. I got an iced latte with lavender, easy on the lavender though because I'm not a fan overly sweet drinks. Also got it with oat milk. It was ready shortly after ordering. Nice, balanced flavor. Came here on Saturday noon to grab a quick coffee after lunch with couple friends who are coffee lovers. I love trying matcha latte at different coffee shops, but I won't recommend their matcha latte at all because I can't even taste the matcha. It's very heavy on milk rather than matcha, I can tell their measurement on matcha is very light and you can tell from the color of the drink. I give this place more stars because my friends said their coffee is good, but I don't think they should offer non coffee drinks if they don't know how to make it properly, just sayin.. After a few sip, all I can taste is just the milk part of my latte, so.. Hopefully they'll improve their matcha drinks in the future. read more

A solid 3-star average rating for excellent quality of roasted coffee (4-star) but really expensive pricing (2-star). Our usual local roaster was closed. A quick Yelp search and thought it'd be interesting to try and new place and support another local roaster. Prices online also looked comparable. Or so we were led to believe.... Public Parking structure around the corner is 90-mins free. Very small right space inside, when we arrived there was already a couple inside. We waited outside but they told us to come in and order. So we entered hesitantly and quickly looked thru their coffee beans offerings. Surprised to notice the prices are higher than what's posted to order online -- must be due to less business during covid? We thought since we're here already, we'll just order 1-lb pack of coffee beans, it's only $2-3 more. But when we got the freshly roasted pack of coffee of our selection, I was surprised it was 12 oz and not a full lb. We looked at the "menu prices" again and saw nothing included about 12 oz or 16 oz bags of coffee beans. So basically the coffee here is about 35-40% more expensive than our regular roaster. Ugh. The freshly roasted beans were great and good quality but not at the much higher price tag unfortunately. That's a bummer 'coz owners seems like super nice folks. btw we asked about loyal customer punch card but they said they stopped offering to new customers since pandemic. But the owner then said you get a free coffee (except bourbon barrel roasted) with 1 bag of coffee purchase. read more

They also roast their beans on the premises, so the coffee is as fresh as can be. Service: Relaxed. Unlike the frenzy, you sometimes feel at other shops. They took care in taking your order, paying attention to detail. Ambiance: No frills decor. Raw concrete floors, natural, stone walls, product, and merchandise on the shelves, but not over sell. There are tables and chairs outside. Unfortunately, there are many pedestrians who smoke, walking by...destroying my pallette...took mine to go. I am so sad I never discovered this place until today! The Bourbon Barrel Aged Cold Brew is one of the most unique tasting cold brews I've ever had. I tried the Dark Roast variety, but even having the option to choose between three distinct blends they outline for you on a menu (origin, tasting notes, everything) is a truly premium experience. I was so blown away that I bought a bag of espresso beans and as a bonus was offered a free pour-over. I declined since I just finished a full drink, but to my surprise the nice lady at the counter said I could just redeem the free drink next time! I feel like most chains would never do this; you have to drink your freebie then and there, whether you want to or not. Not here. It is undeniably pricey, but unlike a number of other places in LA, I think this one really earns it with the product and service on display. Even the berries & mascarpone cream brioche toast was delightful and felt like a deserved treat, not some old slice of multigrain toast with a single berry on it that you can just throw together at home. So you should trust me when I say that Regent coffee has the best tasting coffee in all of the Glendale/Silverlake/Highland park/Eagle Rock area. The cold brews are especially potent. We tried the iced vanilla cappuccino at this establishment and, to be honest, we were a bit nervous. From my experience, flavored beverages are usually too sweet. And it was a big risk to take to try a $6 beverage for the first time. But WOW WOW WOW! I can't stop think about their iced vanilla cappuccino! The coffee flavor was smooth. The rose latte is so yummy! The rose taste is there but also not overpowering. I switched regular milk to oatmilk. It has a strong nutty after taste then it settles to a rose aftertaste. It came out to about $6 with tip and was about the size of a Starbucks tall. But what it lacked in size, it made up for in flavor. The coffee was incredible. I actually stopped in my tracks at the first sip; it was robust but not overly bitter, refreshing, and the perfect pick me up for the middle of the day. This coffee spot ticks all the boxes I look for when I visit a new shop. Customer service is friendly, informative, and warm. Drinks and food came out quickly, and the decor and interior is super eye catching. My dad had lots of questions about the different roasts available and felt well informed and was happy with his Kenya pour over. It's a small interior, but it has plenty of outdoor seating as well. The menu is simple and straight forward, and the baked goods are sourced from a local bakery. There is plenty of merchandise available for purchase, including some cool t shirts designed by a local artist. The pour over previously mentioned was great- delicious tasting notes with kind of an acidic kick at the end. I got a hot vanilla oat milk latte that was delicious, and my mom got a hot oat milk chai was was perfectly sweetened. The only downside of the visit was that the almond croissant we ordered was microwaved, so it ruined the texture a little. It was still good though. I have rounded up a 3.5 star review for Regent for a couple of reasons. First, I noticed that there was a true sense of dedication in their baristas. Striving for perfection is a noble endeavor and all too often missing in our world today. In other words "Good Enough" seldom is. Second, Their decaf coffee is a seriously high quality product. It is processed by the Swiss Water process and it brews up at home just as well as it does at the shop. As I've said before, if a roaster cares enough to create and process their decaf so well just think of the care that goes into their other roasts. The only negative issue to me was the seating and ambiance. But maybe it's supposed to be that way to match the overall funky vibe that you get when you first walk in. I would term it "Modern Day Overly Cluttered and Mismatched". It's just not my favorite. I also deducted half a star (which I have given back) because they weren't aware that the 2019 United States Barista Championships were taking place that weekend. Being aware of what's going on in your industry is always beneficial. The conclusion: Regent is a quality coffee destination. Definitely worth going out of your way for. read more
