I was so excited to try this spot because I'd been craving oxtails all week, but unfortunately it was a letdown. The oxtails tasted burnt--like they had been slow-cooking all day and what we got were the overcooked, charred pieces that should've been tossed, not served. Really disappointing for a dish that should be rich and flavorful. The staff didn't help the experience either. I get the saying, "you know it's a real Caribbean spot when the staff is a little spicy," but this wasn't that--it wasn't playful or sassy, it just came off as rude and mean. It made the whole visit feel unwelcoming. Honestly, I wanted to love this place, but between the burnt food and the bad service, it just didn't hit. read more

Space is small bit clean and welcoming. My two youngest children are in love with Jamaican food and culture so my son wanted some genuine good Jamaican food. The place that I know of was closed but this place was open and ready to go. Had consistent customers coming in and out of the place so that made me feel good. Once I heard them talking I felt like I entered Paradise lol. My son ordered the oxtail and I got the jerk chicken. Absolutely delicious. Reminded me of my children's grandma and I realized how much I missed this cuisine. Definitely a spot to go to. Will visit again. Oh, and it's good deal for the buck! read more

I went there to get lunch. I was in the mood for oxtails, peas/rice, plantain. I know it was right at 12-1pm, but when my food was given to me, it felt like it weighed a ton. Consequently, the plate was prepared from the refrigerator not a hot stove. The oxtails and gravy was cold , as was the rice &peas. The plantain was not throughly cooked either. I was very disappointed!!! Not going back. The cook should know better!! read more

A waste of time. I should have just ordered from Golden Krust. Placed an order via uber eats for soup of the day and a fresh juice. No one from the restuarant notified me that they didn't have soup. The delivery driver notified me that they had no soup today. Wasted my time waiting on this order. Do better. read more

Who doesn't like some good ox tails or stew beef?! Caribbean food is one of my favorite. Enjoyed our take out from here. We got an order of the oxtail with rice to go. It was savory, satisfying and good. Although I wished the ox tail was cooked a little more softer. Definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. Will be back! read more

After traveling from DC to Teaneck for a family event we were wiped out as happily scoured Grubhub for local cuisine to satisfy our cravings. Upon discovering RK we went through the reviews on yelp and figured that a decent meal would arrive. All in all, the meal was good, but nothing really stood out for the following reasons: Our oxtails were a bit dry but super flavorful, bountiful, and large.....had they been a bit more moist they would've been perfect! Our rice & peas was dry and lacked both coconut milk and thyme....it tasted like rice, but rice & peas should definitely have the appropriate seasonings. (no oxtail gravy or drippings were put on it) Our cabbage tasted like, well, cabbage! Very mild but wholesome. The plantains were awesome and totally could've eaten a plate of them but I really had high hopes for the meal as a whole! The carrot juice was flavorful with what tasted like cinnamon/nutmeg included- caution; it is very sweet, but we loved it! This place stays busy. You might have to call and keep calling because the phones are hot, and often times then not, they get tired of answering, because its ringing nonstop all day. I've come here countless times, and when I do, the oxtails have always been my main dish of choice. Very good. The jerk chicken as well. The Ackee and Saltfish which are only served on Fridays and Saturday's has been good, but there have been a couple times where it wasn't consistent with the week before. The prices are affordable and a perfect go-to place when you don't feel like cooking, but want some home-cooking. read more

Hands down the best Jamaican food in the area. I read some previous reviews and it seems like some folks need a little lesson in waiting on line to order food. Go in, and if there's people waiting, ask them if they have ordered, if they have, go up to the counter and order your food. No need to be spoken to first, just go up and politely talk to the person taking your order. Simple as that. Hands down the best jerk chicken and ox tail I've had in the area. Portions are large and the prices are more than fair. Reggae wings are awesome too. read more

This small joint serves Delicious food that's full of flavor and is extremely authentic (I'm Jamaican). They carry a decent range of the Jamaican cuisines including oxtail, curry goat, curry chicken, curry shrimp, jerk chicken and their signature "Reggae Kitchen" (a kind of fried chicken in a sweet homemade tomato sauce) and they always seem to hit the mark with the right spices. As a small take out joint I'm actually happy that they are just that, their service is very slow and the older woman who serves at the front always has such an off putting attitude I could never imagine having a dine-in experience with her almost-always unpleasant service , especially to new comers (like myself) BUT I've witnessed where she can be welcoming to the faces to which is familiar. Other notable things: The prices are very cheap for the quality food you get, Tonight I got the jerk chicken and rice & peas with curry goat gravy for just $8 a super large portion and delicious too!! I've noticed that this place can easily become that place that you really love for the food but would rather avoid because the whole other aspect of ordering and waiting for the food is just so not worth it. Basically, the wait and the inhospitable servers are far too great for me to make a trip here just for the food. You will find that people still populate the restaurant because of the tasty food, but I will have to pass. . My suggestion is : Don't knock it before you try it. My Aunt Lala took my sister and I here last Saturday and we ordered a few dishes for the fam. My sister and I both had the small Jerk Chicken w/ peas and rice. This is by far the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, and I typically don't go for spicy but my Aunt insisted that I give it a try; this was perfect. Not overwhelming but definitely inviting. Pair it off with a Tropical Rhythms any flavor of your choosing and you're good to go! This plate literally lasted me 2 days, and you will definitely be full. The next size after that is a large, let me tell you you won't have to eat for the rest of the day. Either way you'll be in a food coma, sleepy and satisfied! The woman at the register Lisa I believe is her name is very nice and quick. Great customer service, this place had people coming in and out, with the phone ringing. These people are the real deal, if you're ever in the area and want some real authentic Jamaican food; please stop here. Next time I just might even attempt to try the curry goat. read more

I order a large fish rice and peas and cabbage delivered by door dash what I got was dry fish not warm plain rice and a side of salad not cabbage and no condiments I call to let them know the person who answered the phone told me that I have to request condiments to receive them true I guest when I told him I received plain and rice and salad not rice in peas and cabbage he tells me sorry we didn't have the cabbage wow I just moved here and I am only two miles away there were no resolution at all just sorry man maybe the restaurant in person is a better experience but not this one read more

OmG seriously the food is so good here !! I happened to be in the neighborhood and I was intrigued by all the Caribbean restaurants and the name caught my attention so I decided to give them a go. I am so happy I did !!! I ordered the Oxtail (my go-to at any Caribbean spot) and the stew chicken it comes with rice and peas and some kind of slaw OmG !!!! it was like if I had to choose a last meal on earth it would be from that spot!! Called in to see how many beef patties they had left. I requested 5 and they said that they would throw it in the oven and have it ready in 10 to 15mins. I get there waited because there were 2 ppl in front of me. I see the lady in front of me order 4 patties and she took them out of the case and gave it. I figured they would have my patties on the side for me considering I called. Get called up next and she said she only has 1 left. How is that possible when I called ahead? read more

I stopped in today to get a meal for my parents and couldn't get anything because the two ladies behind the counter stood in there place as if they had nothing to do. I waited patiently for one of them to call next or something due to three other customers waiting in front of me. As I waited a man excused himself and jumped in front of me blurting out his order to a lady who was having a conversation when I came in. I was so frustrated that I walked out instead of causing a scene. I am the type of person who would support black businesses, but this one I can't anymore. The sad thing is this was not the first time I've walked out of there empty-handed. Bring back the younger woman who had a nice personality and greeted people as you walked in. read more

Now every once in a while you are met with Sassssy island gal taking the orders but I think that she means well. If you sensitive you might not agree but hey being from nyc that's most Jamaican shops. On to the food EVERYTHING IS AMAZING. Jerk wings are really slamming, ox tail, red and peas and FESTIVAL THATS MY TING. Love this spot. Don't let sas keep you away from a good plate of food lol. read more

Great flavors. Our first visit, We went on a Saturday around 830pm, parked directly in front and not one person was inside, I asked my daughter to go check to see if they're open as this place is always packed when I pass by. They were open but out of several meats and cabbage. I tried something I haven't eaten in years, curry goat with rice and peas, plantains, my daughter had the jerk chicken, rice and salad. Goat was tender, not as spicy as I thought it should be but good, chicken was very good spiced right. The lady that took our orders was very nice and pleasant, the guy that packed our food was also pleasant. The crowd came after we ordered, lucky us. read more

He runs this place with terrific customer service with his wife in the back cooking up the goodness. Together they make a dynamic duo. Since moving here this has been my go to. But be sure to check their hours they open at 1130am usually and close pretty early. So get in when you can.
