Recently this restaurant installed two kiosk machines and removed some of the employees that would take your order. You now have the choice of joining a long line or using the kiosk. They never print a receipt and now they don't seem to be passing your order to the store but the money comes out of your account. I brought this to the attention of the manager and was told that eventually the money will return to my account. But in the meantime I have no food and 2 times the amount taken out of my account since I was told to try again. I suggested that they put an out of service sign on the machines, but this idea was meet with a real Jamaican lackadaisical attitude, and this is what really hurts, because had they bothered to act on what was a known issue then this would not have happened to me. Stopped by couple of times within past week to get food for lunch and dinner. My favorite items are chicken stew and oxtail. Both of them have such tender soft meat with delicious sauce. I tried couple of new items like the shrimp and jerk chicken. These were really tasty as well. The jerk chicken has a semi crispy skin with moist layer inside. Really amazing. Worst customer service ever! How is it the customer behind me gets their food before me? That doesn't make no sense. So the lady behind the counter with short blue hair takes our order but she never made our food. Instead she goes to the back of the restaurant and gets change for the cash register. The other lady is helping the man behind us asking have we ordered yet and we tell her yes. The other lady then told us the girl with the blue hair has to fix our order but the girl with the blue hair doesn't fix our order. She's joking around with another employee of hers instead of doing her job very rude of her to do a paying customer like that. So the girl goes to the back again never once did she fix our food. My most recent visit, walked into Golden Krust to grab some food to-go. Dropped by early noon on a weekday and it was a nice little line but it moved at a decent pace. I've been to multiple Golden Krust in different cities/states and I would have to say the Teaneck location is the best display of food I've ever seen for the franchise. There's so much food to pick from! The presentation is clean and the food looks amazing. With that said, I did not know what I wanted. I grabbed lunch and dinner for later. For lunch: coco bread and mild beef patty - which was good & filling. For dinner: salmon (was a sweet & sour type of sauce; tasty), yellow rice w/ a side of cabbage, & plantain. The food was fresh & good. Also, could not forget my favorite; D&G Jamaican cream soda. Aye! It was a lot of food -- so I have lunch for the following day. Yay! Don't even wanna give you one star food was disgusting. How was the rice mushy rice and peas? But also dry at the same time and the peas were so hard it's like they just took them out. They can put them in mushy the rice. So the oxtail was so hard it was tough and not even cook like season, but not cooked because it was sort of. The patties are always fresh. The food portions and options are always wholesome. They stay open later than most Caribbean restaurants. There is enough parking and inside space to eat as well. They are clean & offer great customer service. I'm always content with the service I receive from this location. Food so expensive and don't even try to fill up the container properly, paid 13.99 for an aki just got $5 worth, even saw one of the lady trying to stop the waiter who assisted me that it's enough. I love beef patties. I usually get them at the local Jamaican takeout joint in Teaneck, but I figured I should give this more commercial chain a shot. It's new so it's clean. The food is kept on hot trays, buffet style. The patties are kept in heating cabinets, and cost a little over $2 each. Fortunately, they come in labeled bags so you can easily tell which patty is which. I got the veggie and spicy beef patties. The veggie patty had a white dough, which wasn't the yellow i was expecting like i got with the spicy beef patty. The dough on the veggie was a bit chewy, but the filling was good. The spicy beef filling was amazing. The patty was flaky, but not as flaky as others ones I've had. I also picked up some jerked wings and a fried wing. The jerked wings had excellent flavor, i would definitely get them again. The fried wing was average. Kinda tasted like one I'd get at a Chinese take out place. read more

3.5 stars. I've been here a handful times. The place is clean and the food is good. A little inconsistent though. Parking is easy because it's in a small strip mall. The inside is very clean and the staff are okay. I've had the ackee and saltfish twice. The first time it was perfect, the second time it was too salty.....like they hadn't soaked the fish enough. My favorite here is the brown stew chicken. Everything else is just okay. I also think the pricing is a little high. There are tons of other Jamaican/Caribbean places in the area that are cheaper and just as good, if not better. There's 1 on Cedar Lane, 1 on W Englewood Ave, 3 other ones on Teaneck Rd, 2 right over the border in Englewood and one right over the border in Bergenfield. read more

I love beef patties. Of course I was excited to hear that Golden Krust was opening up a a location right on Teaneck Road (coincidentally I was introduced to beef patties from Jamaica Grill down the road). This review is based solely on beef patties (and coco bread). The beef patties are very good. I ordered a spicy beef and a Cheeze beef with one coco bread. For purism's sake I ate the spicy beef patty alone. It hit all the marks of what a patty should be. The crust is nice and flaky. The filling was warm and seasoned well. Beef patties are pretty simple, but they're delicious. My only criticism is it could use more spice. Since there is a mild option, the spicy should actually be spicy. The Cheeze beef patty I ate with the coco bread. I've never had cheese in a Jamaican patty before, but I'm glad I tried this one. Cheese makes everything better doesn't it? A little more saltiness and a lot more texture just elevates an already delicious food to even greater delicious heights. The coco bread is alright, I felt like it was a little dry but putting the cheese beef patty in it balanced it out a little. The place is obviously clean since it just opened so hopefully it stays that way. The service was very friendly and quick even though there were a decent amount of customers. Watch out. The staff might assault you here. I just decided to give Golden Krust it's LAST try today. I took my mother here on mother's day morning. They had almost no breakfast left at 10:30 and they had a terrible attitude about it. We were willing to buy the little scraps they had left, but then we witnessed the wildest thing. The lady at the register was arguing with a customer. She had charged him for two patties and only gave him one, and as he was walking out the door she ran around the counter and jump kicked the man in his back! She kicked the drink out of hand and everything and didn't even want to replace it. I'm literally never coming here again. So good! The perfect rainy food. I heard about Golden Krust, but have never had it. I got the jerk chicken meal which was super good and spicy. My dad got the oxtails soooooo good. Both meats were juicy and the jerk chicken comes right off the bone. We both got the rice and beans, I highly recommend it. The rice and beans has a little kick to it which makes it really good. Got a side of Mac and cheese which was delicious. Just wished they had warmed it up, but till good! Got the BIGG pineapple and ginger beer sodas. Definitely tops the meal off. If i could gove 0 stars I would. As a Jamaican by birth, I have to say this was the WORST "Jamaican" food I've had in the 4 years since I've moved to NJ, the other restaurants I've tried were bad, but this is the worst. I bought the stew peas, the pig rails had 0 flavor, they didn't even leave a little salt in the pig tail. The chicken soup should be called scotch bonnet pepper soup. The jerk chicken was so hot, I couldn't enjoy it. My 12 year old had the special with shrimp and jerk chicken, he asked me why is it so spicy, and the container was half full. The only thing we enjoyed were the sodas. When you own a restaurant shouldn't you consider the patrons? Shouldn't you consider the amount of pepper in the food. Understand this, pepper should NEVER be the dominant ingredient in any food, you should office the hot pepper sauce on the side and make the food mild, but i have come to realize that in Bergen County all of the "Jamaican" restaurants use too much pepper, so in closing I will say this, I WILL NEVER SPEND MY MONEY IN THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN, I WILL COOK MY OWN FOOD. Oh, and the staff...there weren't rude to me, but there was a customer in there that had paid for a catering order in December for pick up the day I was in there, and they didn't have her food ready, they argued with her, she had her receipt, and they told her she would have to wait a minimum of one hour, she went off because she was already late, and she was responsible for the good. read more

We were very excited and ecstatic A Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant has open in the Teaneck, New Jersey area. My hubby enjoys most meals which includes rice & beans. Stew chicken is his favorite dish at the restaurant; order stew chicken with sides for the kids. We also order a assortment of paddies beef, chicken & vegetables. The food is generally good & if starving we may do a quick run. -1 Star for not providing a substitution. We ordered 2 large Stew Chicken dinner meals which comes with 2 sides. The cabbage was low or gone and there were mix vegetables available as well as Mac and Cheese; but items would have served our purpose to take home and feed our 2 children. Since the items rice/bean & cabbage as well as other were low or gone they would not substitute the other side items that was available but initially not part of the meal deal. They would rather customers wait upwards of 35/40 minutes for a new batch of the selected sides orders to go with the meal deal than substitute out with sides items which were available. This action of waiting for a long period of time reflected long lines, slow movement and a list of customers. -1 Star for the doughy paddies. We did not ask for a refund of the 3 paddies we asked if they could rr-cook the ones we did not eat or open, the answer was you already bit into one and so we can't recook???? We asked for the 2 we did not open or unwrapped to be refunded the reply was we not replaced nor refund. -1 Stars for bad attitudes. Pretty good Caribbean spot right by the Teaneck Armory. I got takeout and ordered a jerk chicken, stewed chicken, fried chicken, and oxtail. The stewed chicken and oxtail were my favorite. Meat was tender, had great flavor, and the sauce was awesome. The only disappointing item was the jerk chicken. It was a little too mild for me. I like my jerk chicken to have more intense charred and smokey flavor. Prices were reasonable and portion sizes were generous. read more

Finally a Golden Krust in Bergen County! I've been there many times since it opened in April 2019. Every time I go, there is LONG LINE! I am not sure if it's because the service is slow or people are overwhelmed by the food that is on displayed and unable to decide what they want by the time they get to the server, but it's pretty annoying. The food is worth it though. Just know you will be there for at least 30 minutes to order and pay for your food. I come from a Jamaican family so I know what authentic Jamaican food tastes like. This is super close to the real thing. Everything is good! And unlike many Golden Krust I've been to they have a variety of food from salmon, rasta pasta and barbecue chicken. All so delicious! I was pleasantly surprised that the servers and cashiers were friendly too. This is rare for a Jamaican restaurant! I will return over and over again. read more

I have to post this because I have just about had enough... The food there is delicious. But they lose two stars due to the poor customer service that the female servers there give to other females. I have watched it over and over again... When men walk up to the counter they are greeted with smiles and "how can I help you." When the men ask for a little more of something the girls toss it right on in the container with no issues and moves the men right along to the finish line! When women walk up, they barely get eye contact, there are No Smiles and they reluctantly answer questions. Just Stink Attitudes. And if you dare to ask for a little extra they look at you like you have two heads, tell you No they can't or say that it will cost you extra and still fight you over it! This is a nice addition to the area, Golden Crust is all over the Bronx as well as the outer boroughs and now in New Jersey. They make a mean Jerk Chicken as well as the Oxtails. You can get a really nice meal for a decent price. Not a sit down restaurant even though they do have a couple of tables. They offer cafeteria style service with lots of good options for take out meals. The patties are ok but are lacking in the quantity of meat so they lose a star on my rating.
