I explained to them that technically we are not a new account, that we just purchased the home and our pool was always serviced by them, but i was told that they would not be able to help us, and to call at the end of the season to schedule a pool closing. We then contacted Universal Pools who was able to schedule a pool opening in a matter of a couple of days (we received A+ service from them). We were still hoping that A and S would be able to take on our account because they knew the history of our pool, so at the end of the season, we called them to schedule a closing and we were told the exact same thing, that they were unable to service us because "they are still down a technician" and to give them a call in February 2020 to schedule the pool opening for the summer of 2020. I called today (02/04/2020) and was told "they are not taking any new clients who did not have their pool opened or closed by them last year (which they were not willing to do),that they are still short staffed and no one wants to work". I called back to speak with the owner to inform him of this issue, and the lady that answered snickered at me, and was told that he is going to tell me the same exact thing. I did speak with the owner by the name of Stephen Mantz who was equally as useless, and told me that all pool companies are having difficulty finding workers. I explained to him that no other pool company that i contacted had any issues with scheduling. i'm really not sure how a business expects to stay up and running when they are turning away new customers, or in our case, a pool that has been services by them for years. Please do yourself a favor and beware before giving this business any of your money. There are so many more knowledgeable, friendly, pool companies out there that are happy to service existing accounts, and take on new customers without any issue, like Universal Pools. Shame on you A and S!

First, I was required to drive over an hour to their showroom for a completely unnecessary appointment--just to be shown pool options that could have easily been reviewed at home via email or a catalog. After that unproductive meeting, I was told someone needed to come out to evaluate my property. I rearranged my work schedule for this appointment, which was set between 7:30-8:30 AM. No one showed up. I received a voicemail at 8:30 saying he would now likely arrive between 10:30-11:30. That's a 3-4 hour delay with no prior notice. Since I had to be at work by 11, I called him back to say that wouldn't work. When I reached out to the owner to express my frustration, he was dismissive and rude, downplaying the situation by saying the rep was "just going to be a little late." A four-hour delay is not a minor inconvenience--especially after I changed my work schedule to accommodate them. This company clearly lacks professionalism and respect for clients' time. I would look elsewhere.

Our radiant pool was partially installed last fall, they returned 2 weeks ago to complete the installation. We received a cheap tarp to cover the pool thru the winter (we were promised a pool cover then told that a cheap tarp was the "pool cover"). There was no "pool school" which was needed as this is our first pool. They men that finished the installation just dumped 2 bags of shock chemicals directly into the pool and said it would be clean in 24 hours-that's it!- and left. We were missing pool vacuum that was ordered and paid for and not delivered. Now had to hire a professional pool cleaning company. Basically once they've been paid their service is awful. The My husband and I worked with Buddy Sr. and he did an incredible job with answering all of our questions, scheduling the work and seeing the job through. Buddy personally showed up at the job several times throughout the entire project. The quality of workmanship that went into renovating our pool was amazing. Every day the workers were at our house by 6-7 AM. Buddy kept us informed about each step of the process and we knew what was going on the entire time. Furthermore, all aspects of the job were performed on schedule. After the job was completed, Buddy came out a final time and personally coached us on how to properly maintain our pool and ensured that we had all of the proper chemicals and dosages. The pool is GORGEOUS! We are so pleased with how everything turned out. If you are considering building or renovating a pool then I highly suggest reaching out to Buddy's pool. I decided to ask the people at Leslie pools if they could look at the rover. They explained that polaris rovers self diagnose, within minutes as they ripped the machine apart the problem was solved. Unfortunately, the machines cord and motor were defective, resulting in a repair bill that made no sense. Leslie pools sold me a new rover. The owner was knowledgeable and kind, I highly recommend them!!!

This company is operating as a Jacuzzi reseller (independent Sales Organization - ISO)…read more After complaining to Van Dorn, I have since found that Van Dorn is the only registered provider of Jacuzzi spas in the state of Maryland. I know this because I contacted Jacuzzi directly and they gave me a secondary provider in Hagerstown, MD that is subsequently cut-off by Jacuzzi since Covid, 2019. This means that Van Dorn is the only seller and provider of maintenance in the State of Maryland. Hence, Van Dorn knows they are the only registered provider of Jacuzzi Sales and Maintenance. They use this advantage by charging exorbitant fees for new and existing Maryland Consumers that purchase a Jacuzzi spa. With that said, it is obvious that this company is acting like a 'Monopoly' for the Jacuzzi spas purchased by consumer in the state of Maryland. In other words, we the consumers are FORCED to work with Van Dorn for our proper Jacuzzi maintenance. Van Dorn, (knowing that have a monopoly), in turn charges exorbitant prices to conduct basic maintenance that is as little as 30 mins for $205.00. This works out to $410.00/hr. I just experienced this (super charge) of $205.00 for a tech to 'open up the COVER OF THE spa," tighten some pipe unions and then LEAVE within 30 minutes, and this was after I waited 30 days for him to come out to me in the first place. How is that verifying that my Jacuzzi tub is working properly and not leaking (which was the main part of our service call in the first place)? With this complaint, I already know, that Van Dorn will use the excuse that the Spa was not filled with water so they cannot test things, but that is bogus since for the last 5 years they have been using an 'external pump' that quickly extracts water from a nearby pool and is used to fill the spa (fast - usually in 20 mints or less). It comes down to whether THEIR TIMETABLE for the day will use the 'external-pump approach' to ACTUALLY fix the problem, OR use 'the excuse' that the Spa is not filled to justify their 20-30 mints "service." They love to use this 'external pump approach' to benefit (or not) their schedule to handle all Jacuzzi needs across the State of Maryland. excuse where the spas are filled (or not). This is their "bufffer" that they use for charging $205.00 for the visit. It is a shameful approach to business, and one that is manipulating Maryland Code. With tha said, over the years I have seen how they like to manipulate the use of their 'external pump' as an excuse that the spa cannot be tested (since it is not filled - when they come out) to determine whether the spa works or has leaks. I have seen thier use of this excuse for many years now. All the time, they could be using ther external pumps to fill the spa, run the spa and determine operation and/or leaks. As an educated citizen of Maryland, I need/want/alert the state of this egregious use of monopoly that is happening in the State of Maryland, of which I was born. I am tired of small dealers extorting the Citizens of Maryland and I ask that you crack down on this 'Monopoly' that Van Dorn has on Maryland citizens.
