My husband and I visited on a Thursday evening for a couples massage celebrating our recent birthdays. We booked 6pm for after our work day. My massage was fantastic and my husband said he was good too. I received the deep tissue and my husband the Swedish. I liked everything except what felt like being rushed out of the place as it was close to their closing time. Massage and everything was done at 7pm and their posted hours said they closed at 8pm. I would have enjoyed being able to sit and mellow for a bit with a cup of tea. The therapist placed a cup of water at the checkout station out front. They were definitely trying to close up shop and get out of there. For the price paid not a way to encourage return visits. read more

The spa environment is what you pay for. The disaffected staff at the front desk seemed bored and a tad annoyed when I asked them to repeat directions. At one point, I honestly thought they forgot about me in the Quiet Room. My masseuse was kind, but did not apply the pressure I'd hoped. The add on scalp massage was nice but not worth it. Was planning an anniversary getaway with my wife and decided to do a couples massage. Contacting the staff to book the arrangements, Gail provided all the details and was very helpful in deciding what we should select. With the couples massage we added aromatherapy for my wife and I added the feet and leg treatment. Our massage therapist, Laura and Mary Elizabeth were amazing. I have been to this spa several times and it has always been wonderful which is why I booked a couples massage for my husbands milestone birthday. This time was not so wonderful... we arrived at 12:29 for a 1:00 appointment. The woman checking us in rushed asked if we wanted robes since "we only had 1 minute until our service". She seemed annoyed that we wanted robes. I said we have 30 minutes and she said, oh okay. I then went into the locker room to change. The bathroom area was dirty and the shower had a sign on it that it was reserved for someone. The amenities locker was nearly empty and the whole place just felt different. When we were called for our services, I told my massage therapist of an area to avoid because of pain. It was almost like she focused on this area which was painful. She also left my arms dangling off the bed for quite a bit of time which was uncomfortable. This was not the experience that I was used to having at relax and I will now be hesitant to go back. I did not say anything while we were there because I did not want to put a damper on my husbands day but I was very disappointed. Update 8/15: I emailed as requested by the comment from the spa. To date, no one has replied. It seems that they commented to make the review look better, not to help the customer. 8/20- I received a response and was offered 20% off my next service. The name fits! I visited RELAX today for the very first time because I was in desperate need of some self care and at 25 weeks pregnant, a prenatal massage was calling my name. I was lucky to have found a booking on a short notice and was able to book easy online. Today when it came to my appointment I arrived about 20 minutes early to check in and was taken to the locker room and given a robe and sandals to change into and wait in the relaxation room. It was very cozy and I made myself comfortable in a lounge chair. I had a 50 minute prenatal massage done by Therica and she was wonderful. She asked what type of pressure I wanted and if there were any areas to focus on. The pressure was perfect during the whole massage and I loved the scents of the lotions/oils used throughout. I came in for a deep tissue massage ($100) with Kara C. That's more than I usually like to spend on a massage, but it was absolutely worth it, it was easily one of the best massages I've ever had. The spa is located in a large building with high ceilings, complimentary tea and snacks, fire places, blankets, plushy couches and chairs, and chandeliers. The bathrooms are equipped with showers, lockers, a hair dryer, and basic toiletries. They nailed their decor and vibe so well, everything was clean, luxurious, welcoming. Kara was so friendly, we ended up having the same taste in music and got along so well. She was also really attentive to my body, she was able to work around an old injury, treat the muscles that were compensating for that injury, and give me pointers on exercises I could do to ease muscle tension in places I didn't even know I had it. This spa is exactly what I've been looking for in our area. A beautiful quiet room, above and beyond service and the relaxing scent of lavender everywhere. Ahhhhh. I scheduled the signature hydrafacial and it felt totally different than other places I've had these done. Usually, it's fluorescent lights, a quick in and out appointment, and still expensive. Here, you get the warm massage table, the warm towels, and massage to go with it. Worth. every. penny. Candy is amazing and I knew I was in great hands with her. She addressed my concerns about potential skin irritation and made sure to take me through step by step what she would be using and doing. This was my second time at the Relax Spa (first time I had a gift card from my boss). My first time I had a 50 min deep tissue massage and spa pedicure. Both were amazing (Therica did my massage and it was fabulous, she also gave me some pointers on how to stretch out problem areas on my own!). Since this was my second visit, I paid more attention to my surroundings in order to give an accurate review. Upon arrival you call to check in with the front desk, and then you can enter 2 minutes before your appointment. I waited in a dim but cozy waiting room filled with chaise loungers, comfy chairs and a fireplace. The atmosphere in here is so relaxing, calming and serene. I waited about 5 minutes and my masseuse, Derrick, came to get me. I had another 50 minute deep tissue massage and again was very impressed! It is now a day later and I'm feeling the tension I normally carry in my shoulders and neck completely gone! I will be returning again, and again because hey, self care is vital!!!! read more

I got a facial and body scrub for my birthday from here, I had never been here and was not sure what to expect. They offered me a robe and slippers when I got there and they walked me to the changing room and found me a locker. The women's changing room is pretty small, there really isn't space for more than 3 women to stand in front of the lockers at a given time. There is some other space but not a ton so it can be tight. The waiting area is open to the hallway to and from the exit, other rooms and changing rooms and is unisex which I know is different than other Spa's and caught me off guard. The body scrub honestly was not worth the money, I did not know what to expect and my skin had been so dry lately and I had a rough pregnancy so I thought it might help my skin that endured some horrible rashes and pregnancy caused eczema but it really wasn't anything I couldn't have done at home. I wish I had selected something else. I did enjoy my facial though, my esthetician was friendly and helpful and talked to me about my skin in terms I could understand. Often I have esthetician's that come off as arrogant and this was not the case. She also recommended some products/ingredients to look for in products to help me without saying "you need to buy this product I am putting on your face", so I was able to purchase the items elsewhere. I will definitely return for another facial! And probably try a different service other than body scrub. read more

Booked my wife a prenatal massage here this past weekend. It was not a great experience but I can't rule out that their covid rules enforced by the state didn't play a part. The biggest disappointment was she was not allowed to access the locker room, shower or warm up room. That's all part of the process and just being told to go into the room and change was kind of jaring for her. Definitely not a relaxing experience. And of course, they're not charging any less even though all these features are no longer part of what you get. We were told to arrive 5 minutes before her appointment and call which we did. She was told that she was allowed to enter the building one minute before her appointment began. So now the time she's spending going in, getting checked in, being shown to her room, changing, waiting for the massuse all comes out of her massage time. Maybe in pre-covid times this place was more welcoming but right now they're definitely charging more than most places and offering a lot less. I would not recommend them. read more

Irena and Vinny were both attentive to some of my concerns and both treatments were absolutely wonderful. Irena did a fantastic job with my Rose Quartz manicure and my nails have never looked better. Vinny took my limits to stay away from one area of my back/shoulder and did an amazing job working out some problem areas. Both were absolutely relaxing, which I so desperately needed! I unfortunately had a terrible experience at Relax Spa today. As a Mother's Day gift, I was scheduled for an 80 min massage. I checked in and was escorted to the locker room to change for my treatment. Once done, I sat in the quiet room awaiting my therapist. I watched as client after client was called. 25 minutes past my scheduled appointment, I went out to the front desk to inquire. Another 10-15 minutes later, whom, I am assuming is a manager, comes to tell me they were unaware my therapist was not in the building when I checked in and she was unable to make it due to an emergency. Unfortunately there was no one to fulfill my treatment. I completely understand that emergencies happen but how do you not know your employee is not in the building and that you have a client waiting for 40 minutes? I was provided a gift certificate for an 80 minute massage, which I believe should have been provided for compensation for the missed treatment but what about the 40 minutes I waited (which would have been longer had I not asked)? I believe more is owed than this. With it being Mother's Day weekend I am obviously unable to book a treatment anywhere else. I truly couldn't be more disappointed in Relax's customer service. I was promptly greeted and shown the locker room and how to start off my Spa Day (3 PM- 7 PM). A very warm welcome. The Quiet Room was a very nice touch for relaxing and having a small granola/trailmix snack with some tea or water before and in between services. I enjoyed the hot wrap for around my neck for a good 10 minutes prior to starting my massage. Unfortunately after my massage and facial (I had an expected and scheduled hour wait between facial and pedicure), there were no wraps in the heater to use. The spa was pretty quiet so I am not sure where they were. And when they did show back up prior to my pedicure, they were all cool. I showered in the hour break. One of my numbers on my lock didn't register/I pushed too light/quick and I was locked out of my locker. 45 minutes prior to my pedicure I had all kinds of things to lug around because there was no one at the front to assist me. I kept checking back but I saw no one. I had to take my stuff into my pedicure and get let in at the end. That 45 minutes was not relaxing at all as I couldnt get assistance (or a hot wrap). I saw no employees around in my wait. It was concerning that the front was unattended for so long-anyone could have walked in and through the spa. Are the doors locked when no one is up front and clients just aren't aware of that?). My massage and facial were glorious. My pedicure was way less than I get for half the price at a nail salon. There was no real massage to feet or legs like I get other places. My tech was lovely and I enjoyed conversation but there was no "ooomph" to this pedicure. Get in and file. Get in and rub and scrub. Like the review from 2/23/23, there was a clumpy hairy dusty mess in one of the corners. I spent 420$ that afternoon and was not real relaxed when I left. Safety became a big question. read more

I absolutely adore this spa. The space is beautiful and serene, the perfect place to relax. I've had a couples massage (dreamy) and most recently a mani pedi with a wedding group. For our group, they were so accommodating, professional, and courteous particularly when we were a bit of a mess coordinating our group of moms and bridesmaids. Despite the chaos of managing different schedules and personalities, they made me feel at ease and well taken care of throughout the experience. I am so incredibly angry and disappointed in my experience today. I am a new mother who scheduled a pedicure for today because I had a gift card and really just needed some self-care. I called last week to ask if it was OK for me to bring my baby or if I should have my husband stay home with her and was told it was no problem at all to bring her. I drove 45 minutes to get to the salon just to be told that I could not stay because of my child. As a mom in the thick of postpartum, this was crushing. Everyone should be on the same page especially in a salon like this that charges an arm and a leg for services. read more

I'm a frequent customer and have to say the friendly environment has really changed with new management. The previous manager Melissa was friendly and engaging and made me feel welcome. The new manager barely says anything and sort of just stares at you when you come in... it's weird. Not being social has everything to do with the environment when you walk into a spa environment. I've been in here before for facials and massages (all wonderful) but today was the first time for nails. Josely was super patient with my nails that had previously been put through the ringer with coats and coats of gel from another salon. She was super gentle with them, detailed, and I walked out loving my manicure. The atmosphere is super relaxing, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and you can tell everyone all looks out for one another in the best way. My massage was good minus how cold my therapist's fingers were but I understand that can't always be prevented due to health issues. However, my massage was the only good thing about this visit. When I arrived the receptionist checked me in and then off handedly asked me if I wanted a robe and sandals and seemed annoyed when I said yes. She asked me for my shoe size and returned with an XXL robe and sandals. If you are plus size just forget it, for reference I am 5'6 and a size 18/20, this robe did close but I was concerned about a wardrobe slip especially given the co-ed sanctuary. Given the receptionist's attitude I wasn't willing to see if they had a bigger size. The room my massage was in was across from the sanctuary where the doors were kept open, so when my therapist stepped out anyone sitting in the sanctuary could see right into the room. The locker room shower was gross. Not only was it dirty with dust, pills and hair in the drain the shower never got hot arguably not even warm. When I went to leave I stood at the desk for several minutes waiting for someone to come out from the backroom where I could hear them having a private conversation. Same receptionist, never asked about my visit and again seemed annoyed to be doing her job. I understand, it's hard to find good help that stays and works hard but come on, I could have gone to massage envy and had a better experience. Given the proximity to massage envy, spa elan, del monte and the lake house, I'd say this place needs to step it up or lower their prices. read more

I came to this spa because a friend generously gave me a $200 gift card. I made an appointment online, which was very simple and easy to do. I appreciate that. Upon walking in, the front desk was very friendly and attentive. The place is beautiful! I got a facial and a manicure. The facial was amazing. I forget the aestheticians name, but she listened to my concerns and addressed them perfectly. My face felt amazing afterwards! The massage portion was very relaxing as well. The manicure....eh. The nail tech told me way too much information about her life, and she didn't do a good job on the manicure. I picked a color that was pretty light. She put a darker base coat underneath, but the actual application of polish was spotty and looked streaky. My nails were filed funny as well. Overall, unimpressed with her or her work unfortunately. The prices of this place are pretty high as well. The $200 gift card covered the two services and I had to shell out money for a tip. Allora Spa, right down the street, does an excellent job and is much more affordable. I would skip this place and head there instead honestly. Good experience though! I want to start off by saying I have only ever had amazing experiences at Relax. Unfortunately not this time. Not for the service though, but for their awful receptionist. I called the other day to make an appointment for their creme de la creme of facials- the hydra facial. Now I think most people will agree when you spend that kind of money you should be getting top Notch service. You see I was really trying to do something nice for myself since next week Is my birthday and I've had a tough year. When I called I asked the girl if she had anything by any chance for the next day which was yesterday or Sunday she said yes to both. I really wasn't expecting them to have availability so soon especially since facials just became available again. When I asked her to hold on to check my date book I hear her huffing and puffing into the phone saying oh my god under her breath!!! First of all what's with the people huffing and puffing In rochester?! ( see Cinderella Nails review) Like really?!i used to live in New York. I'd like to these people do this at a spa in Manhattan and see how long they last. I couldn't believe it. Talk about unprofessional. Like I'm sorry who are you?? .. a receptionist who probably makes minimum wage. You should be grateful you even have a job. Her lack of professionalism unfortunately made me feel unwelcome.
