Josh was friendly, professional and knowledgeable and answered all our questions and provided a reasonable quote. Not only did we need a new driveway but we also decided on replacing the sidewalk and adding a back yard patio. Juan, the owner and his entire crew were so friendly and professional and really take pride in their work. October 28,2024 was tear out day and November 1, 2024 was pouring the concrete day. Everything went as scheduled and looks really great and definitely added value and curb appeal to our home. We can't wait to get back out there and fill in the surrounding areas with dirt and grass seed and finally get to use our stored patio furnishings. If you need concrete work PLEASE give them a call and I'm sure you will not be disappointed. UPDATED 11/17/2024 two weeks after my initial review. I emailed Juan the owner of 4WAY cement twice now since pouring our driveway on 11/1/2024 regarding the concrete sealer. He said he was going to seal the new driveway on Tuesday 11/5/2024 and both my emails have gone unanswered and the driveway still not sealed as of 11/17/2024. I may be dropping a star or two if our driveway isn't sealed by month's end. Stay tuned!

Had MANY problems scheduling to complete the work and 3 false-starts. FINALLY the work was completed in the spring of 2025. Well, it's been a little less than one year and today's rains (April 4, 2026) revealed that either the flu cap or the flu cover has failed since it is raining into my firebox, down through the clean-out and into my basement. I paid thousands of dollars to this company. If I have to have another company fix their work then I will be suing for a refund, and, since it is over $2500, it WON'T be in small claims court!!!

Manager came out and immediately said there was a one year warranty on their work, but they would do a courtesy repair and repair two panels. When the workers came out they informed me that if they did the repair, the repaired pieces would be darker than the other12 panels. I asked the company why wouldn't they repair the other four panels and they said they were doing me a courtesy and would only repair two panels. Is this the type of business you would want to work with. You spend $22,000 on home improvement and 1 1/2 years later, that improvement depreciates your property value. Than they won't fix obvious flaws in the work they did. I wonder what other people think and actual masonry professionals. Other seniors watch out for this company because they do poor work and their customer service is terrible.

I read reviews online, filled out an online request for an estimate and someone called me within half an hour to schedule an estimate. The person who came out was Stewart - a very laid back and experienced project manager. He took his time, inspected my property, measured and showed me examples, as well as, explained the process thoroughly when I asked a million questions. He didn't have a sales pitch, it was just a conversation. I was then invited to explore the showroom and scheduled a time. It was very impressive and Stewart was very patient as I choose my plans and materials. Despite it being the highest estimate I received, I received a 10% discount for committing and felt like I trusted them the most and decided to move forward. I had to put 1/3 of the final project cost down for payment and was told they would contact me in 4-6 to schedule the job. This is where the stress came in.. I checked my email approximately 2 minutes before there was a ring at my door. I was being informed that my project was tomorrow and where should they drop off the materials?! I was shocked and overwhelmed, feeling like we were not prepared properly. I later talked to the office scheduler who said she sent an email the week prior, but for some reason I did not see or receive it. Even if I had gotten it, I'm not sure how flexible they would have been with it. Besides having to scramble to get the rest of the payment ready and shuffle around my work schedule for the next day, I also felt like we did not finalize the design, which is crazy because they had already delivered the materials. With a day full of meetings the first day of instillation I felt very anxious that I wouldn't be available enough to meet with the workers. As a result, Stewart did come out the night before and help lay out the design. As I feared, we had different ideas about what the final product was going to look like. I wish they had come out again to determine that, as the only time anyone was on my property was for the estimate and at that point there is only so much attention to detail. I was assured that person in charge of the install would be very accommodating. So we are at the morning of - the workers arrive and ring the bell. My spouse greets them and of course they have a bunch of questions, which I am not available to answer. I am lucky to be working at home, as I really cannot imagine how this would have gone otherwise. Of course the place markers laid out the night prior are not all going to work. The installation team - Alejandro (Alex) - and a crew of five brought some much needed relief. They absolutely knew what they were doing and made everything better. They worked so fast and made so much progress the first day, we're almost done by the second and by the third my entire yard was transformed. There was only one minor issue that the project manager said he would get fixed right away. It took awhile and they tried to talk me out of it and provide a minor discount because it would be costly, but that was his mistake and important to me so I held to it. I will admit that I have high exceptions and value quality, as I believe one should for the price. Their work is lovely, but much of it is preference, which you cannot leave to project managers or workers to decide. I am the one that has to live with this. The end product was great, but I wish there would have been better planning. So, my advice would be go with them, but make sure you have everything figured out before you sign the contract.

This is a long review, but I tried to include what would have been helpful when I was looking for the right contractor to work with before our project started. I reached out to the team late last summer and scheduled a time for an initial consultation in September 2020. Several members of the team came out, including Seabrook, the owner, and Rebekah, a designer with Whiski Kitchen. One thing I loved about that initial experience is that we discussed absolutely everything up front - the design concept, how far we should go with the scope of the project, the timeline (we entered into this project when I was 4 months pregnant - whoops), budget, etc. Then, Rebekah took everything I was looking for and turned it into a beautiful digital rendering that we tweaked a bit from there (for the record it looks EXACTLY like how our actual kitchen turned out!). I was really blown away by how much time and care they put into the project before we had even signed a contract or committed to anything. This process between the initial meeting and signing the contract took a couple of months but it was well worth it in the end and the back and forth up front saved us so much time once the project was underway. Work started a couple weeks later! During our early conversations Seabrook jokingly told us that no matter who we work with for this reno, we were going to be miserable while the house was torn apart, but it seriously wasn't that bad! I give so much credit to Detroit Build for how smooth the process was for many reasons, but most notably: - The team is pretty exceptional at project management and did an excellent job of ensuring there were almost no unused days while the project was underway. We chose to leave the house every day while the team was here (except Saturdays) and of the 12 weeks they were working, there were maybe only 4-5 days when I came home and couldn't clearly tell what had been done that day. They also wait to start demo until materials (such as cabinets) start to come in so you don't spend any time waiting on deliveries, which felt really important given that EVERYTHING is backordered at the moment. - Kristy was my main point of contact during the renovation and she's the absolute best - I miss texting with her every day now that our project is over! I didn't have a day-by-day project schedule or plan to go off of which I actually really liked because this business can be incredibly unpredictable and it's easy to feel disappointed when things don't get done on the exact day you're expecting them to. Instead, I had near-daily updates from Kristy via text - especially after the rough inspection was done, and a general idea of when we'd see major milestones completed and I always felt like I was in the loop/knew what to expect. - They were transparent about how the timeline and cost would be impacted if I made changes to the plan while the project was underway so we could weigh all aspects into our decisions. That said, we added quite a few elements (including painting two additional rooms outside of the initial scope) and the project ended right on time! - I just love the Detroit Build team and everyone they work with, both direct employees and subcontractors. Everyone was so kind, respectful and treated our 100-year old home like it was their own. The team even made recommendations for the design based on things they knew we'd need when we had a baby that I would never have thought of! They really treated our project with care and made us feel like a priority. At the end of the day, no renovation is going to be 100% perfect. I work in project management personally and I make mistakes, so it would be unreasonable for me to expect that anyone I hire wouldn't occasionally do the same. What set this crew apart was how they handled it when there was a concern or a miscommunication (though there were so few). In fact, the team proactively pointed out issues to us (like a small scratch on our tub) that they believed to be their fault that I hadn't even noticed. At the end of the day those experiences just showed me how much Seabrook and his team care about taking care of clients. We couldn't have asked for a better team to work with during this renovation - I hope this has been helpful if you're considering DB for an upcoming project! We'll definitely hire them again in the future.

They covered all of our floors leading up to the bathroom (remodel). The completed job matches our original plan. They were able to make adjustments when things were not going according to plan. They were able to obtain all the materials we picked out. Anytime we reached out to our Project Manager he was able to respond and give us information in a timely manner. Since we don't have a garage, they were able to provide us with a trailer which held all of our materials on site. Negatives: They gutted the bathroom as planned. When they laid the floor, they never covered it with paper so they continued to remodel the bathroom walking on the newly installed floor. Seems like not a big issue, but it's winter and they were dragging in dust, snow, ice and salt onto our new black floor. All of the debris was falling onto the new floor. Due to the fact that multiple people are working on multiple jobs, mistakes were made and workers had to come back out to fix errors made. Part of why we went with Detroit Build is because they had a design team. We were still required to go out and find the materials on our own. Our assumption was they would take care of this step. While our Project Manager did get back to us, we had to reach out weekly to get updates. At the end of the project the only cleaning that was done was construction cleanup. We were disappointed to find out that they did not have a cleaning company to take care of this job. It wasn't a clean and pristine feeling that you would expect with a remodel. We had to call and get a "deep clean" on our newly remodeled bathroom.
