I stopped in at Relli's a couple months back simply because it used to be a DIFFER sub shop when I was a kid in Piscataway and I wanted to give them a try. I was really impressed with my sandwich here. I ordered a 1/2 sub special they had going that day which was simply a 1/2 sub, bag of chips and a drink. There's a reason I almost NEVER get sandwiches in chain shops like Subway and it's deli's like this. There's no pre-cut sandwich meat, no weighing the meat, and no skimping in toppings. Nice local establishment with a simple, relaxed atmosphere. Basically take-out but there is a small counter with stools at the window. The beverages, chips and cookies are always well stocked. The sandwiches are tasty, fresh and generous. Parking in front of the store is limited but there's plenty around the side of the building. Service is generally quick. read more

Relli's Deli is Fantastic, I am from Staten Island New York and have been working in the Piscataway area for this past winter and I've struggled to find a quality sandwich shop. Their bread is excellent and they use high quality meats. Not only is their food great but owners are truly great people. I recently bought a hero from Relli's to-go and dropped it in the parking lot on my way out. I went back in to purchase another and when the owner asked why I was purchasing the same sandwich again, I explained I dropped the entire thing in the parking lot and he gave me the hero on the house. Sandwiches are good, nothing special. Service is good, however the owner seems to be somewhat short with customers. They don't take cash for orders under $15.00, but then a basic sandwich and a drink are under $15, so either you have cash or you get told to read the sign and next time bring cash!, doesn't seem like the best way to entice customers to buy from you if you don't take a credit card for lunch. Ambiance is a standard deli counter with drink refrigerators. There is a very small counter to eat on if needed, no tables and chairs. read more

Comparable to subway except they have fresh bread and cold cuts.But service is terrible, you spend 25 bucks on 2 sandwiches with a soda. (Their special) and end up with subway quality sandwiches. Stopped by this cute little shop today and ordered a half pepper turkey with cheese (the works minus tomatoes). The staff were kind and friendly. The sandwich was fresh and flavorful and it was all a great price. I work in the area and I regularly visit this shop once per week for the last couple of years, however today's visit will be my last. Their prices were already decently high but they just recently have raised their prices. My last two visits netted me 2 half- sandwiches for a whopping price of $16.09; today's ham & roast beef half sandwich was $9.14! The sandwich albeit being good (mostly the bread), was very slim on the meats, VERY. (similar to the picture posted by another user). I am sure we can all imagine the lunch ideas we can come up with around $9, surely a sandwich does not come to mind as the first thought at that price level. However I can say the price increase has driven this customer away, cost of doing business sure, but when you have Quick Check literally next door offering the same sandwich for half the price, and not so much half the quality, one should rethink the current business model. read more

We ordered a 36 dollar order from the deli and tipped they driver six bucks, when we opened the order everything was light- I ordered a number 20 sandwich with extra meat and it was small for regular size- when I called they said they weighed it - I asked for s supervisor and he reiterated that he weighted the meat. The food is great. If you love a classic deli with classic deli fare, this place is for you. However, the service can be a little slow at times and rarely comes with a smile. I care more about the food, so the lack of service isn't a total deal breaker for me, but others may not feel the same. Another tip - avoid at all costs during lunchtime (11:30-1:30). Too few staff to keep up with the rush, which is understandable given that it's a local place and not a chain, but the frustration and tension one feels while a sandwich is being ordered or made during the aforementioned hours is palpable. read more

I feel this is the best sub sandwiches around here. If anyone is old enough to remember how great Blimpie, *used to be*. Unfortunately that chain compromised quality a very long time ago. (Are there any around besides at gas stations?) Back to Relli's: Best bread. High quality cold-cuts. Expertly made. A little more pricey than the Quick Check, right next door. Or nearby subway. This is hands down the best sandwich place around. The sub bread tastes fantastic on its own even. The sandwiches are fantastic and worth a try. I had their homemade corn and crab chowder soup which was also fantastic. Really great all around. The service is great too. They really try to keep the service quick, and also, by the second time I went back, they remembered me and my order. Years ago , I frequented Relli's Deli when I worked in the area . I had occasion to be passing buy recently and decided i'd stop for a sandwich. To my dismay, is was not a good experience I ordered my old favorite , a tuna sub... there was very little tuna , very little in the way of lettuce, tomato, onion , dressing, etc. the bread was dry , bordering on stale, not at all what I remember. It was once a good shop, or , I just didn't realize that there were better around. Relli's Deli is Operating Room spotlessly clean and quality of provisions wise the best local Deli hands down and we have been to all of them. While they may not win awards for being friendly, cooking your food exactly as you want it, note - we have been trying for months to get them to toast our hard rolls and he would just put them in the oven and they would get real crusty hard so finally we asked them to toast them golden brown on the grill (like most of the other sandwich shops do) and we were told: "we don't do that", or for being low priced (3 breakfast sandwiches and a roast beef sub cost $35.00 even), or for cooking breakfast after 11:00 am or being open long hours, they do use only premium provisions such as Taylor Pork Roll, Boars Head and Thumans cold cuts while masterfully crafting your order as THEY see fit. From the double wrapping of your sandwiches (waxed paper first wrap then overwrapped with foil), if its hot it stays hot until you get home. Relli's Deli has figured out for us what the locally best products available are and then artfully craft them as if they were serving it the way they want to eat it to their own prospective Inlaws. We have actually been told more than a few times that he didn't like the hard rolls today so he'll substitute the sub bread instead. The only better food I have ever had is what I cook myself at home because I can toast my roll...So it is great to find a completely food trustworthy "gem" like Relli's locally! I unfortunately will miss Relli's breakfast sandwiches for sure but as we are want it our way people... And at Relli's prices, not being able to get it our way is not an option. However I won't take away from the care of food prep or quality of provisions they use as I will miss that aspect for sure. read more

They don't make Deli's like this anymore. The quality is unbelievable. Other American style shops don't come anywhere near the level of craftsmanship. It's simple, well executed, with top notch ingredients at a VERY GOOD price for what you're getting. What you're getting is food that was made by people who care about what they do. This isn't in the realm of comparability with wawa or quickcheck. It's personal, it's an old mom and pop store, it's a hole in the wall. It's not even in the same category as other small local places that specialize in sandwiches because Relli's is the next level of deli-craft.
