The first red flag was when he asked to extend the (2 week quoted) job by 2 weeks on day one because another client was asking him to work more. I was put on the back burner and Misael worked in the afternoons to start job. All was going well until the construction began. I was quoted 800 for materials. The final bill turned into over 1500. He paid some of this, but my budget was still thrown into chaos because of a lack of planning on his part. Misael did not write anything down. Because of that, he continued to forget things like putting in the bench in the shower we'd asked about, what kind of tile went in what location, ect. I work from home, so this amounted to me answering 5-20 questions a day for weeks on end. The two week job turned into almost two months in total. The wort part is that the tile he installed was done terribly. Some areas have tiny gaps, others huge gaps. He cut into the tile with a hand saw at odd angles and left criss cross gaps around corners where he later filled with grout. It looks like this was his first tile job, and I paid a LOT for it. The grout was full of pock marks and holes as well. I had to ask for it to be patched 3 times! It still looks very ugly and sloppy compared to the smooth grout that 99% of contractors can do in their sleep. Finally, he installed a special valve to give the shower a ceiling and wall option. I told him I wanted three options: 1- wall shower, 2- ceiling shower, 3- combination. He told me to buy the valve myself which was another red flag. I have not clue what to buy, but I did my best. In the end, the valve is upside down, sticking out of the wall an extra inch so the handles won't line up cleanly, and the valve does not have the third option. Sadly, Misael chose to blame me for all of those mistakes. I've never worked with a contractor so unprofessional. Misael does good and clean sheetrock work, good with framing, good at demo. But anything to do with plumbing, tile, and grout... those are not skills he has yet acquired. This job has cost me 3-4 weeks of time and over 3000 dollars in wasted money.

He made the drive, walked through the project with me, and provided an in-person quote on the spot. We thanked him and went with a "more affordable" quote, which was a big mistake. The company we contracted with (Rod's Painting) stood us up 2 days before the project was scheduled to start and returned our deposit, making us delay the project for 3 months due to winter setting in. When the weather broke, I reached back out to Medina and upgraded the project by adding our house to the mix as well. Once again, Johnny made the drive to revisit the project and quote, adding our house into the mix. Once we had negotiated a fair price, Johnny and his crew communicated regularly, showed up on time, and knocked the project out efficiently and with excellence. Final Update: Today…read moreI started to prime to find areas where glue was not removed. There were also areas that weren't sanded before texturing. I had to water some outdoor plants to find plaster on my flag, house and brick wall. The job was rushed and it was obvious. Medina Remodel would come back and fix these areas but I chose not to take the time to have them. They returned already to fix errors. I purchased a high end primer for the glue areas, a little sanding and spray texture in a bottle to fix myself. They needed to slow down and these small details wouldn't have been missed. Update #2 review: Mishaps happen and a lot of companies I've worked with don't stand behind their work; not the case with Medina Remodel. He was quick to return my phone call and was on my door step within a few hours. Everything was fixed, cleaned and left as it should be. I'd do business with him again. Update: two outlets textured over, overspray on my bed and the texture on the windows is sliding off. Medina is coming to fix the issues. He was quick to call me back. Removed glue from wallpaper backing, skimmed, and textured two bath rooms, Put me in his schedule at the last minute and worked all weekend to complete the job. I did the painting and in hind site I should have let him manage the entire job. He communicated effectively, gave us a contract, ahis bid was competitive and cleaned up the mess and hauled off the trash.
