I can't more highly recommend Melanie Connell and Remedy PT! I turned 40 last year and my body started to fall apart. :) I strained my calf twice playing basketball, my shoulder started to ache and sitting at my computer all day for my job has given me a ton of neck tightness. Melanie listened to all of my issues and my goals. Not only was I looking for relief from the pain but I also wanted to continue playing basketball, doing CrossFit and overall just staying very active. I signed up for 6 sessions and we worked through each of my issues. After each session, all of my pain points have gotten better. Melanie is magic. I have had long standing issues on my right side that have resulted in pain, loss of strength, and a change in the shape, size, and angle of my right calf. It hindered my ability to stay in shape which led to a downward spiral in energy and strength. I went to an orthopod and traditional PT - neither solved anything. I found that the experienced PT / owners at the big PT shops would spend 5 minutes with you and then robotically come up with a therapy set and then hand off to a Junior PT to execute each week, without really understanding the underlying issue. It seems a set up for repeat visits and dollars vs solutions. Melanie is highly trained, knowledgeable, creative, and compassionate. She actually hears what you have to say and partners with you to rebuild. She provided a solve for every issue I threw at her. I saw immediate in-session improvement in the weakness area, which told me she heard me and understood the underlying issue. In two months I've made more progress with her guidance and recommended exercises than in 5 years, after just 4 visits. I'm working out regularly and healthier than I've been in a while. I cannot say enough good things about Melanie's approach. Go to Melanie if you want to get solutions and move on with your life. Go to traditional PT shops if you want to hang out with PT people every week forever. She doesn't accept insurance. But she does superbill. In my opinion it's well worth it. read more

I Can't even express how grateful I am to Melanie for not only helping me find relief quicker after my recent (and horrific) back pain, but worked with me to find movement that is safe and progressing my athletic lifestyle. I'd previously go back into the gym or a workout TERRIFIED of another tweak -- which meant an inability to stand up straight, walk, or even move in my bed without screaming in pain. I went to see Melanie to address some chronic tightness and pain in my back, IT bands and quads. What I appreciated about Melanie's approach is her ability to look at the big picture and identify areas of weakness (hips, pelvis and core) that were contributing to over use and tightness of these effected areas. Melanie quickly identified some stretches and exercises to help strengthen my weaker areas and loosen up my hips and pelvis which were causing the pain and dysfunction/tightness in my back and legs. After incorporating these changes my body felt about 80% better within two weeks. I've been able to get back into heavy lifting, spinning and will start working on a new running form under her direction. Melanie is very knowledgeable about body mobility, how it should work and identifying where the stop gap is. I was feeling old, brittle, depressed and out of shape. Melanie is not only a dear friend of mine but a true lifesaver. I was dealing with pelvic pain that seemed to come out of nowhere. As many other people have said here - Melanie is amazing. I've worked with a few other PTs in the past, but have never made the progress that I have with her. As a smaller clinic, Melanie is able to make your plan and training much more personalized and fun (don't tell her I said that) ! She is truly working towards what is best for you and your lifestyle. Melanie is a fantastic physical therapist who works on treating the body as a whole unit. She helped me connect my struggle with constipation and left sided balance/strength/range of motion deficits from a car accident 3 years ago. I have seen many practitioners to help me heal from the accident and she was the first one to help me understand how many of my symptoms were related to the concussion I had from the accident. Through our time working together I have regular bowel movements, can balance on my left leg equal to my right side, and have improved my range of motion of my left side equal to my right side. Melanie is one of the best PT's I've ever had! Her smaller clinic allows her to really get to know you on a personal basis and always has your best interest at heart. Melanie is a miracle worker. I've been having issues with my hip flexors for quite some time and it got to the point where I couldn't walk normally. I work out quite often and would ask my athletic trainers for help but received the common response of "You need to strengthen your core." The hard part was that I was using my hip flexors when trying to strengthen my core (I couldn't figure out how to leave them out of the movement) and it just got worse and worse. After a single session with Melanie she was able to correct my form for everyday movements where my hip flexors were taking over for weaker muscles. She made easily applicable suggestions that have transformed the way I move every day to take the pressure off and relieve the pain. I have been a runner for about 15 years and in the past 2 years I was forced to decrease my amount of training due to my ankles getting very stiff and my left knee becoming easily inflamed which didn't make my runs very enjoyable anymore! The joys of getting older! I finally decided to do something about it and booked 4 sessions with Melanie. I'm so happy I did! Melanie is very different than any other PT I have worked with. First, she listens! I never felt like I was rushed, she took time to address all of my concerns and at the beginning of each session she would follow up on the questions or concerns I had raised in the last session. Also, she gave me a TON of resources to work with, she shared various articles and podcasts, google docs with exercises and youtube videos. She also filmed me while I was running and together we analyzed my running form in slow motion which was really interesting. With just a few tweaks in my form I can become a more efficient runner. I purchased 4 sessions but got so much more for my money because I have all these tools now. After just 4 weeks I can already see improvements in my ankle mobility and I feel so much "lighter" when I run! I have even been able to increase a bit my weekly mileage without any added pain or fatigue! Very excited to start training again for races! I've been trying to get rid of hip pain for almost a year and thought I just wouldn't be able to run again. On my first visit with Melanie she showed me exercises to increase mobility and simple adjustments to my posture that I hadn't heard from anyone in the entire year I was working on resolving this issue. By the next visit I was back to jogging and after only a few more visits am back to my normal routine. Melanie made me believe in physical therapy again. I was in a bad boating accident about 8 years ago where the entire right side of my body was impacted (among other medical issues that have come up since this accident). I went to many physical therapists after a ton of surgeries and eventually just gave up because I was in so much pain and nothing was helping me. I was left with a lot of numbness, nerve damage, and never gained the full function of my arm or leg back. I figured this was something I would just have to live with and went along with my life. I met Melanie very randomly and had no intention of trying PT again. She was so caring and asked me so many questions and suggested for me to come in and let her just check me out which I hesitantly said okay to but didn't think anything would come of it. BOY WAS I WRONG. It hasn't even been 8 weeks and I can see a huge difference and wish I had found her years ago! I already have more function of my arm (which I really thought would never ever happen) and she has even given me exercises to do at home to help me gain strength and flexibility. She is so caring and extremely knowledgable. She is hands on the whole time I am with her and explains to me what she is doing every step of the way making me feel really comfortable. Melanie is a wonderful PT, very knowledgeable about the interconnected nature of the physical and subtle body. I attended for visceral work which is a specialty training and not that widespread among PTs. She helped relieve a lot of fascial tightness in my abdominal and pelvic area to help with constipation and menstrual issues. It really worked! She helped me understand how stress and hormones affect breathing patterns which in turn affect nervous system signaling and organ function. She also gave me lots of practical tips on how I can continue this work myself at home using tools, self-massage and breathing exercises to maintain space, mobility, balance and improved function in these areas of my health.
