The perfect hotel bar in Washington's winter wonderland. My brothers and I flew into Spokane airport to visit my parents for the holidays in Coeur d'Alene. When we landed a week ago it was -11 degrees. Holy shit. Since we're all from California and don't know how to handle anything below 60 degrees, we rushed over to Remington's Restaurant for some hot cocktails. Like always, alcohol did the trick. Their hot apple cider warmed us up quickly! We also ordered a side of fried cheese curds to snack on. These were greasy perfection! We were staying at the Ramada by the airport and popped into the on-site restaurant/bar Remington's & Bar 509, late afternoon on a Monday prior to catching our Uber to Rusty Moose for dinner. There was one guy at the end of the bar, a couple at table and Becky and I posted up to the other end of the bar. It was eerily quiet in the room. I can't remember if they had any music playing, if they did, turn it up a notch. Service was decent, if not a little weird. There was one woman working, but she wasn't really working behind the bar. It was an order at the counter and take a seat type situation. She was plenty nice, but she was more cashier than bartender. We had two each then bounced. The place is inside the Ramada Hotel near the GEG Airport. They have full bar and a food menu with variety of options. However, the service is very very slow here. There are only two waiters and it 10+ minutes after I sat before someone came to take my order. After I placed my order, which was spaghetti with soup, I took them almost an hour to bring the food and not once they came to apologize for the delay. Giving that the area has limited options specially if you don't have a rental car, I would plan ahead Prices are reasonable. Food taste okay. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was too astonishing to stay silent. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like an inconvenience. No greeting, no smile--just a cold stare from the host who looked genuinely annoyed that we had the audacity to show up. After being seated, we waited 25 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, despite the place being only half full. When the server finally appeared, they barely spoke a word, didn't introduce themselves, and seemed more interested in their phone than taking our order. We had to ask three times for water, which finally arrived after our food--warm and without ice. The order? Wrong. When we politely pointed it out, the server rolled their eyes and said, "Well, that's what the kitchen made." The food might have been passable, but it was hard to enjoy anything while being ignored, brushed off, and basically treated like we were bothering the staff by simply existing. It honestly felt like the entire staff was trying to win a contest for worst service imaginable. If you're looking for a relaxing meal with even basic hospitality, look literally anywhere else. read more

Don't bother. Walked down to the nearly empty space, and was ignored by 3 employees. A "Hey, I'll be with you in just a minute" goes a long way. Employees walked by with their frowning faces at least 3 times without uttering a word. Was just looking for a "Hi," a beer, and a menu. Doesn't seem like an especially high expectation. For a quick summary of my experience, see the Decision Flow chart at the bottom of this review. First let me say that I am live streaming my shitty service at Remington's. Well...not really "live-streaming" per se, but I am typing this out as it is unfolding- like a play by play of shitty service. 1) when you first walk in, no one greats you at the door and there is no sign that says "seat yourself". So it is up to you to figure it out. That's cool. Noting odd there. So I took a stab at it and sat at one of the comfortable chairs in the lounge corner, to have a beer while I checked out the menu. WRONG! I asked the server for a drink menu. She said I would have to sit at a table "because that's where people eat". Ok. I was just going to have a beer and not eat right away....but since I was just table-shamed...I moved and settle in for the show. Now I am going to order and see where this thing goes. :) 2) In a line from the 70's sitcom "Alice", that Flo at Mel's Dinner would have been proud of, I was asked by the server,... "what'll it be" when she took my order. "What'll it be" !! However, in her defense she was not chewing and smacking gum while she asked. So there is that. 3) see photo exhibit below. My empty beer, the table next to me has an empty wine glass and the table two places over....you guessed it. Also empty wine glass. I see a pattern. Well to be fair, my glass was empty a couple minutes later. EDIT I was finally asked a few minutes after typing this. She shouted across the lounge to me and the woman sitting next to me "Nother Beer!?" 4) the portobello pizza was ok. The $2.05 pizza server from Food Services of America (yes, In fact I did google the price) probably took away from the presentation of an otherwise decent pizza. See photo 5) waiting for her to ask how my meal is......not going to happen. now waiting for the check. Still waiting. Zzzzz. Still waiting. Someone wake me when this is over. Zzzzzz. She just stoped by! "Needa box".....and the check please. Got the check and then she asks the guy behind me " did I ever get you that Corona" that he asked for 20 minutes ago.....classic . Classic. DECISION FLOW CHART A) Are you staying at the hotel AND you don't have a rental car AND are stuck with no options. EAT HERE B) Are you staying at the hotel AND have a rental car? DONT EAT HERE. Drive to anywhere else. Anywhere. C) Are you not staying at the hotel but contemplating driving here as a destination dining experience? If this is the case you need to read items 1 through 4 above. Update: my flight got cancelled and I was stuck here another night without a rental car. Had the stuffed shrimp, which was ok.....but the service was still shit. read more

The Bar 509 Lounge is a local Spokane hidden gem located within the Ramada Hotel. It's conveniently right next door to the airport, and there is plenty of free parking. Modern rustic decor with a relaxing ambiance. There's traditional American, Italian, and Spanish food. The food is very high quality, delicious and earns a 5 star rating. Our Lyft driver highly recommended the restaurant while we waited for our flight. We ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms and Parmesan Brussels Sprouts. The layers of flavor in every bite was so satisfying. The food sat on top of a bed of fried Parmesan cheese--this was the best crispy piece of cheese I've ever eaten, and I cannot describe in words how flavorful this was. A must try when visiting Spokane. Look at the presentation on those mushrooms! The food tastes as good as it looks. Highly recommend for a memorable eating experience. read more

Decent selection on food and drinks. Chicken was rubbery. We didn't eat all of it. We communicated this and wasn't offered any compensation but we typically don't accept compensation but like the offer. They closed our ticket and didn't offer another drink. It was eh service. read more

Had some time to kill due to a flight delay, Remington's is a short walk from the airport. Got a quesadilla with beef, bacon, and cheese. Cocktail waitress was attentive and friendly/helpful. Food came out in a few minutes, and was hot and tasted good. She brought us our bill after clearing our plates. The bill came with a couple of Andes chocolate mints. read more

Seafood Gumbo that's better than better than most of New Orleans' restaurants. Sandwiches that are fit for a hearty appetite. A preferred hotel by flight crew personnel. Stayed at the Ramada due to its convenience to the airport as we had an early morning flight out the next day. Gentleman at the car rental gave me the heads up on Remington being in the hotel so my son and I gave it a shot for dinner as I was exhausted and didn't feel like checking out Spokane. Pricey, but typical of a hotel lounge. The ambience was a bit dated but nice and quiet which was what I was in the mood for. I wish they would have brought us drinks faster, water was only refilled once and we had to track down the waitress to do that. I had the petite ranch sirloin and double chef's veggies. Vegetables were so good!!! My son had them too and agreed. My steak had a bit too much char for my taste, bits of charcoal broke off in my mouth and I could taste them. My son had the BBQ ribs and said the sauce was excellent, large portion, he couldn't finish it all. read more

A-OK is a good place to start with Remington's. Service is polite and efficient. Drinks were never left empty for long and we were made to feel welcomed. The food was mid of the road. Standard chicken strips fresh out of the freezer, oriental chicken salad was ok and the burger was good. Not much around the hotel so you'll do just fine in here. read more

Well gave them another try. Nice staff this time so that's something. However, after a 45 minute wait for takeout, to find out they are out of some pizza toppings, , (no room service so you pickup and take back to your room), we finally get our order, I get back to the room with our 3 orders only to find out two of the three items they gave aren't even what we ordered. When I called the restaurant to let them know they did offer to let us wait another 45 minutes for replacement items. Again I guess that's something but really... they are kind of a mess over there. I'm told that the Ramada by Wyndham hotel is under different management than the restaurant. Maybe that's not such a great system. read more

To this business traveler this hotel is a great bang for the buck as far as convenience, shuttle, and front desk service. The restaurant's high-end dishes are chef inspired, and room service is as impeccably presented as in the dining room (with the exception of the napkin that was totally shredded on all sides., faded and tattered... Could have been 5 star presentation and delivery other than that. = 4 stars The breakfast buffet is an outstanding variety albeit without gluten free options for cereal or breads, and the stereo needed to be turned up as at 6 a..m. the breakfast steak was cold. Beware of the hostess however; when I needed to move from the dining room to my hotel room due to a mis-scheduled conference call and asked for a to go box (along with my explanation), she made it clear, and not in a playful way, that she was doing me a favor. "I don't usually do this but this time I'll let you slide," was her condescending parting shot as she handed me the to-go box. I tipped her for her rudeness nonetheless. I found this statement odd as a lady before me had taken her breakfast to go, so I confirmed with the front desk manager and he said it was no problem to take the breakfast to my room. Again, could have been 5 Star breakfast but for the imperiousness of the so-called "Hostess". = 2 Stars BEST RECOMMENDATION: Avoid this beautiful dining room and request room service, at least until the breakfast staff is trained in basic HRT protocol and the meaning of hospitality. The rooms are clean and quiet with nice linens but no liners in the trash cans and some weird white stains on the carpet (paint, white out?), but other than that , well appointed. = 3 Stars The onsite laundry is a welcome convenience and detergent is available at the front desk. You can't beat the convenience, literally steps from the Delta terminal. However, the entire property is in desperate need of renovation, and Remington's is no exception. (The website states they've had a reno in 2016, but I don't see it.) The decor is stuck in the 1980's and the carpeting needs a good cleaning - at the least. (I can't help but think how dirty everything else might be if the dining room carpeting is gross.) An odd feature is the player piano that plays the theme from Star Wars, MASH and Evergreen on a continuous loop. I stayed at the Ramada at the front and back ends of my trip and we dined at Remington's because we were just too damn tired to go into Spokane. Next time we'll make the effort. I had the Plains Chopped Salad, which surprisingly wasn't chopped at all. But it was good. So good - and a safe bet - I ordered it both times. My mom and sister were not as happy with their meals: a roasted turkey sandwich that should have been hand carved pieces of turkey but ended up being paper thin slice of deli turkey which appeared to have been griddled before it was placed smack in the middle of an open face hero roll with melted cheese on top. No garnish, and we skipped the sides on it. The other was the soup of the day - tomato basil - and a grilled cheese sandwich. Super thick slices of white bread, the cheese not coming all the way to the edge of the bread. Mediocre at best. The bread complimentary herb bread is dry and dense, and not very tasty. Not worth the calories. We did take advantage of the breakfast buffet on both stays. Your typical hotel breakfast selections - eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, cold cereals, etc. Basic, not too terribly bad, but not stellar either. But again, it's convenient. The service is not bad, everyone is friendly and fairly attentive. read more

Ehhhhh- OK. I really wanted to like this place more, saw so much potential and was excited when I walked in. The menu is pretty extensive for a hotel lounge/restaurant. But the prices are typical for a hotel lounge/restaurant- way to high for the quality of the food you get. I have eaten here for breakfast and it was decent. I have eaten here for dinner and it was a let down. However they do have happy hour drink prices so if wanting just a few drinks before dinner then sit for an hour and move on to the Rusty Moose- about mile away. But if land locked due to no car- then it will do. Wanted something light so I ordered a cup of Spanish meatball soup and a BLT. Last I knew a cup was 8 ounces, the cup I got was at most 6 ounces filled only 5 ounces (the server bumped a doorframe with the cup so some spilled out onto saucer). However, the less than a cup of soup was very tasty and spiced well- compliments to the chef! The BLT was OK as a whole- it would have been a great sandwich if the tomatoes used were not sliced little tomatoes- sliced so thin you could read a book through them. I like thick slices of tomatoes- like beefsteak tomatoes not cherry tomatoes! I also like crispy iceberg lettuce- not wilted romaine. What saved this from a two star rating was the bacon and the pickle that came with it. The bacon was thick cut and there was plenty of it. The pickle was a nice addition- crispy and delicious. So I would recommend for breakfast, happy hour drinks and if no other viable choice then it "will do" for dinner. PS- nice touch of an Andes mint served with the check. read more
