I started removal for two of my tats at Removery about 2 years ago. I had already been in the removal process for about a year prior somewhere else. The laser Removery uses is SIGNIFICANTLY less painful than what I experienced at the place I was going before, which claimed to have had "the newest technology" (obviously bs). Removal is of course never going to be comfortable, but I would say the pain level with Removery's laser is about a 4/10 compared to dang near close to a 10/10 at the other place. I had some issues regarding a misleading consultation that resulted in unfair pricing, however, Angie the studio manager eagerly stepped in to help with a quick & fair solution. She is super sweet, along with all of the staff I've met at this location! I'm still in the long & dreadful removal process unfortunately, but Removery is trying to get the job done as quickly as possible while also ensuring not to cause any additional skin damage that I obtained at my prior removal place. I'm almost at the finish line, but super happy Removery prioritizes quality treatment over speed! read more

I have been visiting removery for about 3 years now having various tattoos removed. In that time I have always come to the Damen location in Bucktown and I love it here! I've been seeing Laura for a majority of the time now and she is amazing! She makes me feel super comfortable and relaxed I don't even realize my treatment has begun and before I know it has ended lol. I will always recommend removery and this location specifically! So far so good! I'm only withholding 1 star from Removery because my removal sessions are still in progress. I've seen my ink fade a lot within only 3 sessions and 4 months. The sessions are typically once every other month. The laser removal procedure doesn't hurt (think of someone rapidly pricking you lightly with a toothpick) and the sessions never last more than several minutes in my experience. read more

Of all the specialists that have been working on my big back piece, Laura at the Bucktown location has been the most patient, kind, and caring person that I have experienced. Since the tattoo is very big and the process is painful, I had requested some specific things from Laura (like please split it into sections, give me a countdown, she let me play my music, and also to just talk me through it), and she gladly did it all and made me feel so comfortable. She was so great that I asked her if I can schedule my future appointments around her. Just finished my first treatment with Diana. She and the staff are very informative and transparent. No jokes about the procedure and expectations, which I really appreciate. Not only that, but the Vamoose team is very kind, inviting, and accommodating. I was running a bit late due to the inevitable CTA delays, and they were still able to get me in for my treatment! The space is very clean and the atmosphere fits well with the Bucktown vibe. For me, I have a relatively large forearm tattoo that I am trying to lighten up to give me some more real estate for future pieces. The laser removal process is obviously not fun and games. It hurts!!! I would compare the pain to that of a rubber band snapping repeatedly on your skin. In my opinion, laser removal hurt so much less than getting an actual tattoo. I recommend just pushing through until it's over. With Diana's skill, we were able to finish my first treatment in under ten minutes! Removery Tattoo Removal & Fading - Tattoo Removal Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I wrote this review as a warning for those who might end up in my situation. I don't know what percentage that may be, but if it happened to me, I am sure it is happening to others as well. As a sidenote (and important to this review,) this was my second time removing a piece of an old tattoo. My first time was with a different company, it took 3 sessions and I was very satisfied by the results. The old tattoo was faded enough after those sessions to the degree that it could be tattooed over. The problem was the location was too far outside of Chicago and took me a long time to go and come back. This time I tried to choose a place closer to home. I went into the Bucktown location for consultation in December. The ladies working there looked at my tattoo and told me that to get it to a point where I can tattoo over it would take 3, maybe 4 sessions. They suggested I should buy a 3 sessions package and then revisit to see if we even needed the 4th session. Even though it was a good deal, I chose to not buy the package and pay as I go since I was not sure I would be staying in Chicago. 3 sessions, 4.5 months, $600 later, there had been less than 10% degradation in my tattoo. Compared to my first experience I expected to see more degradation. It was nowhere near the point they had suggested it would be. That matters for several reasons, financial being one important aspect as I had budgeted myself for at most 4 sessions. Timing is also crucial because I had set up an appointment with a tattoo artist who is very hard to book with in June, thinking with a month and half in between sessions, I would be done by then. That was not the case at all. At less than 10% degradation, I would need many more sessions. That put it outside of my financial commitment and could potentially end in 2023 with the prescribed month and half recuperation time between sessions! I was mostly dismayed at first and tried to get some answers. I understand salesmanship and hooking new customers and getting them committed to services, but I just felt this was outside of any realm of reason. I really wanted an explanation. That's when the situation turned to a complete debacle. At first they told me I needed to speak to this one lady whom I assumed was a manager. But she never responded and was never there. Every time I called there was an explanation that she was busy and would get back to me. I had my 4thsessions coming up fast and I wanted to make sure I was not just throwing my money away. I wanted to sort of reset my expectations, see if there is a plan, are they using the machine to its maximum capacity, is it something about my ink, find out why there is so little fading? They had a real opportunity to "own the experience" as we call it in the hospitality industry; sit down with me; ease my concerns. I was not hostile in a least bit. I would have gone in for a 4thor even 5th session if someone had taken the time to speak to me, address my concerns, right the ship so to speak. But no, they ran from it instead. So I call several times but by the 5th time, no one picked up. As I said I live nearby so the next day as I was driving by I decided to pull over and call and see if she was in, to walk in and speak to her. I park right in front with full view of the storefront. I call, it rings, the receptionist looks at the phone, shakes her head and ignores it, it goes to a voice mail. Now I am fuming. But still no confrontations. I sent an email to cancel my upcoming session letting them know they had failed in customer service and had not earned my money. That's when Howard, the founder, reaches out to me to let me know the woman I was supposed to speak to had gone on a sabbatical that week apparently without anyone knowing, with no access to phone or email. OK, I buy it, I am speaking to the founder so here is another opportunity for them to show they are in a service industry. I lay out my case in an email. His answer amounted to a shrug. He said what I was told about the 3-4 sessions never happened, suggesting pretty much that I imagined the whole thing. And followed up by, well you seem like you have made up your mind, so whatever. After I told him I was going to post a review online he asked, what do you want? I said, customer service... and there was NONE. Everybody seems to be trying to run away from this, which frankly makes me more suspicious. Then he says to me, "I guess I don't have all the facts." Really? You just gaslighted me and you don't have all the facts?! At the end he leaves me with this pearl, "As someone in the hospitality business, I'm confident that you've had episodes where you and a customer see things differently." After many years of holding it off, I finally decided to get rid of my tattoo. I was extremely nervous and was hoping to find a place where the people were nice and welcoming. That's exactly my experience here at Vamoose. Front desk was polite and my esthetician Monika was so sweet and made me feel comfortable. Not being able to sleep ever, I was aimlessly browsing Facebook at 3 AM a couple nights ago and came across Vamoose Tattoo Removal. I have a monster of a tattoo on my back that my 18 year old self did not think through very well and I have wanted to do something with it for years now. I had gone to a dermatologist's office that offered tattoo removal and had some sort of treatment done, but it was very similar to burning my skin, which lead me to other tattoo artists to talk about a cover up. Did I mention, it is a MONSTER of a tattoo with very thick, dark lines. Enter discouragement! That is until my insomnia lead me to Vamoose Tattoo Removal. I think I spent more time asking questions than the actual procedure took. My tattoo is like 11 square inches with a whole lot of black, which hurts the worst when it comes to removal, as I found out today. The pain was real, but certainly tolerable. The cooling system they use during the whole treatment period is a God send and the ice packs they give you after are like little angel wings. They are very honest and friendly. Booking: It is really easy to set up consult / session and they send you text reminders. I always get a follow-up call after the session to see how the healing is going. About me: I'm a darker skin African American some lasers such as picosure don't work well due to the high risk of hypo pigmentation and scarring. I've had a couple sessions here and another laser removal place and I've had great results at both places. What I love about Vamoose is that uses ND-Yag laser which works well with many skin types. About the session: It does take 30-35 minutes for my sessions since I have a large tattoo being and a small wrist tattoo. It feels like a rubber band snapping over and over.They have a nice cooling machine that they use with the laser that helps ease the pain. Monika (the technician) does a great job keeping you relaxed during the session. They give you ice packs after the session which helps the swelling. I pay over 200+ each session. In summary: I highly recommend getting laser vs getting a tattoo cover up. I got a cover up and started laser not too long after. I wish I would have done laser vs cover up. Some may argue for the cost of 8-10 sessions you could get a cover up. I say, why not get the piece you really want instead of settling for a bigger and not so ideal cover up piece. I haven't been here in a while because it's not super close to where I live. I will certainly be back if I can't get in to my other laser place. Many thumbs up! read more

I had my seventh session with Monika in March to remove my tattoo (a deep red Celtic knot on my wrist), which turned out to be the final session. I was having the tattoo removed due to a job offer that requires no visible tattoos, and after the seventh session, my tattoo is far enough gone that HR at my new job cleared it. There's still some yellow left, but unless you knew what you were looking for (like I do), you wouldn't notice it. The staff is fantastic and very friendly, and they make no false promises. Of all seven sessions, I never waited more than five minutes, and that was only one time. I was never there for more than twenty minutes or so. They worked around my schedule to make sure that I could come in at a time that was convenient for me, and always asked about side effects before each treatment. First, the staff is super friendly and the space is nice and calming. I was pretty nervous and not sure what to expect, but I felt at ease there once I went in for the consultation. I loved that I was able to book the appointment online and come in the same day! I called another place and they wanted to schedule me 2 weeks out smh. I was so glad to get this process started since I had been delaying it for years. I have a relatively small tattoo so the pain wasn't that bad. Monika is amazing! She cooled the area before and during the process and there was some discomfort after but it wasn't that bad at all. It's been six days since my first treatment and the area is sore to the touch but not unbearably so. The price was OK and since there's 6 weeks in between treatments I don't feel like I'm paying an extreme amount. Just had my fifth session and thought it was time to write a review. Every time I've been I've gotten right in to get zapped, and right out. Rarely takes longer than 15 minutes (though my tattoo is small). Moreover, they do a great job of reminding you about appointments, and following up with you. This is especially important to me as I am absent minded and with 6 weeks between treatments its unlikely i would ever get this thing off. I just went a year between sessions (I cancelled an appointment, had financial and scheduling issues after and couldn't reschedule), and they checked in periodically, like I asked them to, and were never pushy. When they called a few weeks ago I had completely forgotten about it but was happy to get back on schedule. Hoping to say goodbye to the last of the tattoo this year. tl;dr-Great service, Great price, Great product. read more

What a pleasant first experience! Everyone was very nice explained every step in detail so there where no surprises. Extremely affordable I am having two tattoos removed at the same time. Lets talk about pain and what to expect; please keep in mind I have six total tattoos one branding. I have a high tolerance for pain. The first one on my breast was not so bad, the one on my back on my spine hurt the most I cried! But once I am free these horrible tattoos the pain will be a distant memory. I was moving at a slower pace as suggested but the next day I was back up and running. Kept the A+D Ointment on healed up nicely in three days. I can tell a difference in color on my breast but I have a long way to go there will be some scaring but I am ok with that. I am looking forward to my next visit. If looking for a great tattoo removal place, look no further. Removing a tattoo is no small deal, it is painful and costly. However, Monika at Vamoose does an incredible job at minimizing it. She is very knowledgeable, her work space is impeccably clean, and she has a great personality, which really helps make the entire experience more comfortable and distracts you from the process. I went in just to ask questions, but within 5 minutes of being in there, I knew I didn't want to go anywhere else to get this done. I have a small tattoo, about 1"x3", so the laser was on me for less than 30 seconds. It was painful, but she used a machine that blasts cool air on the area before hand that really helped. She did give me the option of applying a topical numbing cream on the area, but I decided to forgo that because it requires a 1 hr wait time. But, it is an option given to you for free. I have talked to friends of mine who have gotten their tattoos removed by far less competent people and paid way more than I did, which is why I have been hesitant of tattoo removal places. Vamoose made my fears disappear, however. They are extremely professional and I was able to get my session for $79. Definitely going back for my next session and would recommend anyone looking to remove their tattoo to at least go visit this place for a free consultation and see for themselves why this place has such high reviews and wonder, as I did, why there aren't more great reviews of this place. read more
