The laser hair removal actually works (I saw results super fast), and Zana makes you feel comfortable the whole time! The Hydrafacial is a must--my skin was glowing after, and it felt so clean and refreshed. Normally my pores are visible but this has helped them appear much smaller. And the mani/pedis? I walked into the spa to book as I wasn't quite sure what type of facial I needed, so I was hoping to talk to someone there. They told me I had to book online and weren't very helpful considering i was trying to spend money at their business. while trying to book online, I find it strange there's no prices for anything. I've had both a good experience and a confusing experience. I went to Skin by ZANA after having a break-out from a new product. She was helpful in that she graciously accommodated the appointment time and was aware of all of my insecurities about my skin. My second appointment with her was only a half hour, though I still paid for the full facial appointment, as I did the first time. I reached out to her but without a response. AUGUST 2023 UPDATE: I'm getting so many compliments on how much clearer my skin is, and if I had to choose one facial to recommend it is the Geneo facial. I fell asleep in the middle of it, and woke to gorgeously dewy and smooth skin. I also got dermaplane which I highly recommend for smooth and clear skin- Zana is very meticulous. Last month I had another hydrafacial that left me gorgeously dewy for days, and this month I had the vitamin C facial which smelled SO good and left my skin glowing. Zana did a fantastic brow shaping (wax and thread) and I had an amazing mani/pedi from Kim. She is an expert at getting the perfect desired shape and color coverage. The mani/pedi was also incredibly relaxing from start to finish. The spa ambiance creates an environment that allows the mind and body to naturally unwind. Kim with her hospitable and sweet energy usually greets at the door for the start of the relaxing experience (if she isn't with a client), then the senses tune in to the classical music and gentle lighting. I ended up booking 3 more sessions of laser hair removal, and last month I got the hydrafacial with boost and dermaplane. My skin looked brighter/clearer afterwards. This month I got the Geneo facial and dermaplane again, and the geneofacial is my favorite! It felt like I was getting a really deep clean but I was getting oxygenated. The serum smells delightful and adds to the relaxation. It ended with a warm ultrasound facial massage that felt SO good. My skin looked amazing right after, I had a healthy glow. After the facial I had an eyebrow wax with Milica. She was very thorough and I like how my brows are taking shape. The medical spa membership is worth it. After my first facial Zana recommended SkinScueticals C E Ferulic vitamin C serum which really worked well with my dermatologists' cream to help clear up sun damaged dark spots on my skin. Since Zana gave me a few samples of SkinSceuticals H.A. Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier, I used it with the vitamin c serum and my skin developed a healthy glow- I was sold on getting a bottle! Having the membership makes this all reasonably affordable for me. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I started out getting waxed which was a really relaxing experience considering it's waxing lol. I love Zana uses hard wax which is how I found her in a search. She recommended I try laser hair removal and I'm so glad I took her advice! I was worried because of my brown skin that I would have darkening but she assured me it would be ok and she sets the machine for each skin tone/type. I got a 3 session package and it was perfect for me. After the first session I didn't need to shave until the day of my 2nd session and it was barely any hair! When my 3rd session came around I didn't have any hair to shave but I did it anyways since it's required. I'm really happy with her recommendation and my skin has even cleared up (no ingrown hairs). The laser does hurt a bit (like getting snapped with a rubber band) but Zana is fast and still very thorough. I'm starting facials next week, I go with every recommendation she makes because she's an excellent aesthetician, and all her highly rated reviews are accurate. I like the products she uses too, the SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Gel was perfect for the days after laser hair removal. I tried booking a last minute appointment for waxing. There was no answer when I called to see if they had any availability and to ask for the cost of their services (on their website it stated to call for cost). I decided to visit since their website said they take walk-in's. Upon arriving, the door was locked and someone came to ask what I needed. I informed her I wanted to see if she had time for a walk-in for wax she looked me up and down and asked what waxing services I needed. I informed her and she gave me a dirty look and claimed she was busy even though the salon was empty. I told her I had called to ask and she told me she wasn't on the phone like it was my fault. I found Skin by Zana a year ago when I moved to the neighborhood and was looking to get a couple of facials before my wedding. I usually choose the Vitamin C facial, but will switch to a hydrafacial if I have a big event. Whatever I schedule, she'll customize it based on the needs of my skin at the time I come in, and I always leave with my skin glowing. I began using a couple of her recommendations daily. After a few months I began to notice my skin looked less dull and stopped breaking out. I also make appointments every couple weeks for a no chip mani (and sometimes pedi) with Kim, who is also great! She pays attention to all the details but also doesn't take forever so I am in and out quickly. I must admit I was very disappointed in the service I received. I booked a full one hour microdermabrasion appointment online - arrived to my appointment and was told they don't have the machine or offer microdermabrasion anymore. The common courtesy here would of been to call/email the client before they arrived to their appointment to let them know the service offered online is no longer available. Since I was already at the location, I asked if we could focus on another exfoliation treatment instead. She had recommended dermaplanning/hydro facial. I laid down for the facial beginning at 5:25pm and at 5:50pm the facial was over.. I had expressed this was my first facial since the pandemic so was looking forward to a nice pamper but was done in 25 minutes.. she didn't even steam my pores or do any type of cleansing/masks which I was confused by since I never received a facial where they don't apply steam for at least 5-10 minutes. I had also expressed I've never done a hydro facial and had no idea what was going on during the facial or what the process was..to top it off the final total was $250 in which my original appointment I scheduled for was $140. I had been told the 20 percent off new client rule does not apply for new clients receiving facials.. so ultimately I ended up paying nearly double the amount I had scheduled for less than 50 percent of the time. The card reader did not work so I provided cash and wanted to get out of there asap. As common customer courtesy next time I would notify the client beforehand or at the minimum honor the original price the client had booked for OR honor the full appointment time - If you're looking for a pampering spa like treatment, I would not recommend. I was in dire need of an eyebrow and chin thread once the shelter-in-place was lifted in Chicago. I have to do threading instead of wax because I use a retinoid on my skin. I got a pedicure there. Will not return - not a nice experience or quality job for the price. They should make some improvements to their services. Pedicure quality: She cut my big toe nails so short I wanted to cry and I still do a week later. It takes a while for my toe nails to grow and I will have to live with this now. They are as short as you could cut them. They don't have any way to dry toe nails, so I was just sitting at a desk with fingernail dryers like a few inches in front of my feet so pretty much doing nothing. After only like 8 minutes, she came back over and said they were dry and I should leave. She slathered the nails in oil and took the dryers away. About 2 hours later, nails still not try, and so they got ruined. Atmosphere: The massage chairs aren't very comfortable...not as much massage as it was just like vibrations so pretty weird. There was no music or radio or tv or anything playing, so unless the jets in the foot bath were on or I was using the awkward chair features it was completely silent in there...just listening to my nails getting filed. read more

This definitely was an unforgettable experience, and not the kind many want. This is my first yelp review as I don't care to complain about a service, I just know not to go anymore. However when I'm disrespected as a customer then it's a different story. I know this is a brand new salon however I think all owners should know some type of customer service. I literally just left this salon a half hour ago to get a threading plus tinting for eyebrows. I was not greeted by water and cookies as others have stated. I was greeted by an Indian woman who was nice. She asked me how I would like my eyebrows and I said not thin, I even showed her a picture. I said I need a clean up and make sure each eyebrow is the same shape. She proceeded to thread and showed me my eyebrow. I almost cried. It was skinny, no shape and no Arch. Looked like a skinny caterpillar. Clearly she can't give me my eyebrow back so she had to do the other one the same. I stayed calm and just asked her to make them the same shape. She tried. Was pretty sad that they were skinny and shapeless. But next was the tinting. Zana came over and was trying to convince me they looked great. I told her I wanted brown for my eyebrows so she grabbed the color and began to tint. She walked away for 1 minute, I know to speak with the lady about me. She came back and I was just wiping some mascara off my finger and she tried to scold me as if I touched my eyebrow. At this point I can see she has an attitude and she proceed to wipe off the tint. I've gotten my eyebrows tinted before and I know it's suppose to sit longer in order to tint. She took it off and my eyebrows looked the exact same! I have light eyebrows so you can tell when they are tinted or not. I told her there was no difference really and she became agitated and told me there's nothing more she can do and I don't have to pay. At this point I'm so confused to why she was treating me this way so clearly she doesn't want my service. So I said ummmm ok then and just grabbed my purse. The Indian woman said oh but you need to still pay for the threading and zana said no just go and waves me out. There's a lot more to the story but this pretty much sums up how I was treated. With all these 5-star reviews, I'm kind of shocked at the experience I had, but this place did one of the worst jobs I've ever encountered at a salon. I booked a basic manicure and eyebrow wax for last Friday afternoon via the Whittl app, since I had a $20 first-time user promotional credit. Upon arriving, they didn't seem to have me booked for a manicure, despite it showing correctly in my app, but said they could accommodate me anyways. Well gee, thanks for doing me the favor of squeezing me in for the appointment I already booked in a totally empty salon. My eyebrows were done first, and I asked for them just to be cleaned up. After using a little wax on the edges, the esthetician was done in about 2 minutes, and never touched the area in between my eyebrows, which to me is the most important aspect and a true professional would never skip. I tweezed the area myself after getting home that day. The manicure was worse. When I asked for the nail edges to be rounded off a bit so they wouldn't be sharp, the nail tech filed off so much on the sides she exposed my nail bed! She basically filed talons onto my hand. My nails look lopsided and uneven, and I could have done a better job biting them off. She also did not paint up to the cuticles, and my nails looked like they'd been growing out for a week before I ever left the salon. After having a manicure Friday afternoon, half the polish on my left thumb flaked off in a giant chip while I was getting dressed for work this morning (Tuesday). In addition to the poor service, I didn't enjoy the atmosphere either. The overhead music, according the to commercials, was supposed to be "Free Calm Radio" but I don't get particularly relaxed by creepy organ music broken only occasionally by ads. Please spring for a couple of CDs, maybe something classical, and not played by The Phantom of the Opera. Also, the owner needs to turn up the phone volume or get a new one with better connection. At least 4 different times during my visit I heard her parroting, "HELLO, HELLO, HELLO, HELLO?" over and over again, far past the point one would normally just hang up after not hearing a response. Neither the esthetician or the nail tech made any conversation or small talk, so we all just sat there silently listening to ghoulish music until I felt like I must have stumbled upon a West Loop haunted Halloween attraction meant to terrify patrons with abysmal spa services. THANK GOODNESS I booked this appointment with promotional credits, because the slop done here didn't deserve to be paid for. I went here for a Spa Luxury Pedi and a No-Chip Mani after a week of being on my feet for 16 hours everyday during CES in Vegas. The ambiance was amazing and they were very understanding when I was late for my appointment (tip: never drive, parking is terrible). Zana was very nice and we had great conversation. My toes and nails looked amazing when I left. #1, Zana was very pushy about the membership service and the skincare products (which were rather expensive). The membership service is a great deal and I almost gave in BUT #2, my mani chipped four hours after I left the salon. Today, I have three fingers with chipped polish and another that's about to peel. The French tip on my pedi is chipped too (on my big toe, so can't hide it). #3, the Spa Luxury pedi was not luxurious. It was the same service that I receive for a basic pedi from a cheaper nail salon, for a more expensive price. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed. I cannot remember which facial I got but it was amazing!! She helped me choose the best one that fit my needs. My face feels crazy hydrated. I also got a no chip mani and pedi. She offered to make me coffee or tea and that's always a plus in my book! My favorite part was that there was only one other person there. I chose Skin by ZANA because of the convenient location near my work, and the Yelp deal - $50 for $75 in services. I initially was planning on only getting a $40 pedicure, but once I saw the Yelp deal, I realized I could get so much for more just about $10 extra... so I went for it! All within 3 hours of my appointment, I purchased the Yelp deal, did online scheduling for a no-chip manicure, a Vinylux pedicure, and removal of a no-chip manicure I did myself. Love the online scheduling option. All of the prices are very clearly marked on the website, too. Big plus. I always like to know how much I'm paying before I go. I arrived about 15 minutes early. Zana told me that unfortunately I had scheduled my services incorrectly online (BONEHEAD MOVE). They needed more time to do everything I wanted, but she was still nice enough to accommodate me. Connie (I think?) was my nail tech, and she told me that she spent a decade working in a fast-paced salon before this... and she hated it. She always had to rush and never had time to really do good work. Not anymore! This woman is a total perfectionist, and I felt like she gave me her BEST work. My feet are flawless. She took extra time to remove calluses, which had built up all winter. Gross. My no-chip is also amazing. All in all, my appointment took a total of about an hour and a half, but I'm really satisfied with the results. I was there at Noon, and there was no one else in the salon at the time other than the staff, so if it's extra attention you want... you'll get it here! I used to go to any nail salon to get my eyebrows waxed for cheap until one day they almost got completely waxed off. I swore off cheap waxing for good and decided to see Zana since I rode by there on my way to work. The salon is beautiful and clean and relaxing and the brow waxing is the best. I've seen Zana and another person there and they've done an amazing job. They listen and take care of you and don't pressure you to get your brows threaded if you prefer waxing :) You might think I'd say "its worth paying more for Zana," but she's not any more expensive than a cheap nail salon! I always feel bad writing negative reviews but, I just got my nails done at Skin by ZANA and I'm pretty underwhelmed. I've been looking for a nail salon that I can go to regularly and am finding that in the west loop it's pretty difficult. The salon is clean and about a year old which is nice, but the nail services are meh at best. I got a no-chip manicure and they did that thing where the polish doesn't go to the cuticle. I got my nails done a few hours ago and it already looks like they've been growing out for a week. The polish also doesn't even get close to the sides of my nails, rendering my nails to look as if a newbie had done them. Overall, i'm pretty disappointing. I thought $30 was a good deal for a no-chip manicure but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for". One other thing I MUST MENTION is that I wouldn't even consider this a manicure. All they did was file, clip a little bit of my cuticles and paint my nails. No hand massage, no buffing, nothing a normal manicure would come with. Literally, file (not even cut), trim, paint. I was in and out of there in less that 30 min. I literally/honestly could have done a better job myself if i had no-chip stuff at home. Unacceptable. ): read more
