What a great hotel! The staff was amazing, the event space was nice for NE Columbus, and the restaurant on-site was pretty good for a hotel restaurant. The bar was pretty busy in the evening which is nice, but I was there for an event. The beds were comfy, but the pillows could use some more fluffing inside. You don't need to replace ALL the pillows, but at least 2 good pillows would be great. I like to put my hands between the other 2 pillows. The shower handle was definitely weird. Seeing a knob on a knob was a new one for me. I finally figured it out, but it's not something to play around with at 6a before coffee when it's -5 degrees out. My favorite part was the lounge access at this hotel. They had a coffee machine that had hot, steamy mochas and I think I broke the machine. I went later for an afternoon pick me up one day, and all that was available was tea. I like tea, but I don't want my tea and mochas coming out of the same hole. The lounge also had a decent breakfast and evening snacks too. Plus water, soda pops, and other snacks (chips, granola bars, M&Ms, etc.). It was also a nice place to eat some Uber Eats Donato's Pizza without getting pepperoni grease all over my sheets again. It looks a lot like blood on the white sheets. I'd stay here again if I was doing anything in the NE Columbus area. It was a little out of the way from most things in Columbus, but it IS close to the Quaker Steak and Lube, so that was a plus. read more

I really enjoyed this hotel. The rooms were very nicely furnished, and the lounge area in the lobby was wonderful! So large and the bar served up great drinks. I was here for a conference, so there was ample space if you are looking to host an event here and the food for the conference was absolutely delicious. I also ordered room service and it was fast and I really enjoyed the black bean and beets burger, which is what I tried. Also the gym was really nice. I would say I had to take off a star because I have never been in a hotel where the elevators were so slow. read more

We had a company retreat with close to 200 attendees and the staff at Renaissance was absolutely fantastic. They were responsive, they made sure we always had a contact on site at all times. They checked in with us multiple times each day to ensure they had everything ready for our events and meetings. The hotel itself is beautiful and clean, their onsite bar/ restaurant is actually pretty good and they have amazing coffee options. Food was presented well and looked appetizing. Again I have to reiterate how amazing the staff was! They went out of their way to make sure our event went well and provided everything we needed. The facility is luxurious and equipped, the staff is courteous, professional, and very accommodating, the restaurant staff is amazing and the food is very good quality. The rooms, beds, and showers are high end and we love the hard surface flooring. The lawn and patio areas, fire features, pond, walking path, landscaping, and club are all a vibe. We highly recommend this hotel. The only drawback in my opinion is limited parking with easy access to the front doors. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Music downstairs by the restaurant area. It provided a vibrant feeling in the evening in the lobby / restaurant area. Beautiful textiles, finishes, and fixtures both in the lobby and in the rooms. Nice layout of the room we stayed in. Room felt nicely put together and clean. The one weird thing is that they screwed on the toilet seat/lid crooked... Gym was nicely equipped but had some pieces of broken equipment. The hotel is pretty quiet for the amount of people staying there and we heard some noises from neighbors but it wasn't for an extended period of time. Parking seems to be a bit far from the main entry and we didn't bother to take the time to figure out a different way around. read more

We got in late and paid almost $200 For a room with 2 queen beds for 2 occupants. Way pricey and way over what Google had posted as the average price. I realize Google will never be 100% accurate but this was a huge variance. Girl at reception was snippy when we asked for a discount and the older manager visibly scowled at us. We didn't put up a struggle and paid the price. Going up to our room the hallway had an unpleasant smell. My wife and I got in late and were only able to find take out for a meal. Given the lack of a table in our room we sat at a lobby table to eat. Apparently the entire lobby is considered a restaurant and we were asked to take our food out of the lobby back to our room. When asked why we were given a rude it's state law. This was from the concierge, the restaurant manager who saw us didn't have the courtesy to talk to us ourselves. When we asked what was considered the restaurant they told us the entire lobby. Had we had a conversation like civilized people we wouldn't have had a problem. We go to our room. There are stains on the drapes that look like blood, and the toilet males a horrible pipe shaking noise every time you flush. Next day we get up and I nearly faceplate getting to my car from the extremely poor job they did on ice and snow removal. We try to get clarification on checkout on the policy of not being able to eat in their lobby, funny since they have a microwave down there, and we are met with the same cold response from a cold concierge who just wants to get rid of us. Never felt so dehumanizing for asking a few questions. Avoid this place, there are so many other hotels within a mile. read more

PROS: Customer service was really nice and friendly. We asked for more towels and an extra blanket and received it in less than 15 minutes. We asked the bar/restaurant for plastic silverware for our food we brought in and they were nice about it. Shower was large enough for 2 people. CONS: The bed was AWFUL. For staying in a hotel and sleeping in the bed for 8 hours I would expect comfortable beds, nice sheets and pillows. The bed sat on a platform and I would have had more comfort bringing an air mattress and sleeping on the floor. The sheets were torn and the pillows were squishy and flat. The shower handle was broken and had fallen off. We brought it to the attention of the front desk and we're told they would fix it while we were out at dinner, but it was never fixed. Didn't try out or even see the pool or gym, so no review there. read more

A new hotel featuring 222 rooms. The Renaissance Hotel Westerville draws its theme from a high-end boathouse, and gives very much a lakehouse feel. It's close to I-71, but far enough away to feel comfortable. It's set back from Polaris Parkway to be quiet in theory. Only the room's air vent was nonstop and the guests from other rooms could be heard inside. The staff went out of their way to be friendly which is tough to do during a pandemic. Check in had large shields at the front desk and the associate tried as much as possible to be no touch. This was a real sticking point because I wanted to use the wireless key system and avoid checking in in-person but there was a problem with the credit card and no way to alert the guest. So I was forced to go to the front desk. The front desk will also reserve pool times at check-in if you choose to use the pool. Biggest disappointment was lack of an upgrade offered despite the hotel being at 40% occupancy for an elite member. Elites also lose out on the lounge being closed due to pandemic. The guest room was generally clean, but a personal deep clean found stains on the bathroom wall, some sort of snot stuck to the bedroom ceiling and the back of the couch had been untouched for weeks with dirt and crumbs. Bedside the nightstand desks have this thin ridge that isn't cleaned and I had to take a Q-tip to them. Overall though it was generally clean and the fact that it's laminate flooring and not carpet was a real plus in my booking efforts. Light sleepers beware the mini fridge was loud and the curtains didn't block out all light. The curtains somehow managed to leak light from the bottom that would reflect off the laminate flooring. I felt the hotel was really stingy with bathroom towels, giving guests only 3 in a king bedroom. Next time, I'm just traveling my own. Didn't really explore the public areas as I was trying to avoid people, but from my room I could see two fire pits which added to the lakehouse feel. Only big negative was found out by accident when we brought carry out food in then realized the guest room desk only has seating for one. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here for the weekend. They have a very friendly and helpful staff. We checked in with Micah and he really made our stay. We have family in town and can't wait to return to stay and enjoy this beautiful Marriott property. It is close to many things to do and in a newer section Of town. There is a beautiful outdoor area with a fire-pit and multiple seating areas and corn hole games. The large lake has a walking path that we enjoyed after using their well equipped gym. We ate at the bar the first night and the bartender, Olivia, was spot on and made excellent drinks and suggested wonderful menu items. We had breakfast in the restaurant this morning and the menu offered some unique items. I had a delicious Lobster Benedict and my husband had a western omelet. They have cold brew and Nitro brew coffee in addition to some other Barista creations. We enjoyed our first evening a t the hotel restaurant and bar so much that our family is joining us here for dinner and to watch the NHL Hockey playoff game. Marriott has hit a home run with this location in Westerville, Ohio. read more

I am very disappointed that I can no longer call this place my favorite local hotel. I took my wife for our anniversary here and the gift I had gifted her was stolen out of our room by housekeeping. Out of hundreds of hotels I have stayed at all around the world, this was the first time this happened.  Come to find out they hire their house keepers from a staffing agency.  I am not able to afford to replace it for her either. This review is mainly for the restaurant inside the hotel. The Two-One Restaurant. I've heard good things about this place, mostly through Instagram and my blogger friend's promotion. So I thought it was a good idea to take my wife here for a date. Parking was fairly easy since it's located inside a hotel in Westerville/Polaris area. We had no idea where the restaurant was so we headed to the bar and luckily asked the person near the bar who ended up being the person who sat us. It was a weekday so it was completely dead. There was probably 2 other diners there with us. From the Instagram pictures, the drink looks amazing. So I decided to try one the bourbon cocktail (whiskey rebellion). It was very sour and not really something I would've thought for a bourbon cocktail. Definitely not a fan of that drink. We ordered some appetizers - chips and dip. This is your average plate of chips with malt vinegar and honestly the dip was not even that great. I got the salmon...which was cooked perfectly. But it sat on a plate full of shredded daikon??? I was confused when I first took a bite. Thinking it was some sort of starchy food. The daikon had no seasoning so it was plain and tasteless. For the price I was paying for my dinner, you would think I'm at a fancy restaurant. Way overpriced in my opinion. Wished I would've spent my money at my other favorite restaurants! Title: Weird décor, noisy rooms, awful food, but otherwise nice My wife and I were at the Renaissance for a company dinner/function and because we're long time Marriott fans and reward members, decided to stay overnight to make it special. Oh, it was special all right. Facility - 0 out of 5 stars. Rooms - Hospital Room Meets Tiny House Meets Mid-Century Modern Meets Steampunk Meets 5-Year-Old's Nautical-Themed Bedroom. Translation: The stuff that you expect and need to easily find isn't there and the stuff you wouldn't expect is in your face. Further translation: Bewildering and Annoying. It didn't occur to us that the hospital-room-style curtain between the foyer/bathroom area and the bedroom area was designed to extend the bathroom area into the foyer. There are dock rope cleats along the wall opposite the bathroom that are supposed to be used to hang towels? That's just a guess. There's no dresser, but tiny-house-style-pull-out drawers under the bench under the aforementioned rope cleats. The desk is barely big enough for a laptop. Period. I guess if you're just checking emails, that's fine, but it wouldn't cut it for work. My wife spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to turn off one of the lights in the room and gave up. I only figured it out by following the exposed, steampunkish conduit that ran from the light to a junction box. If this hotel was sitting off one of the Great Lakes, I'd understand the nautical-theme. But it's no where close. It's like someone at corporate couldn't make up their mind and picked something at random. The "No skinny dippin'" life preserver in the room looks like something an idiot would put in their mancave or by their backyard pool. It's like a man-child with more money than sense designed this room just like the one he just moved out of from his parent's house. Noise - 1 out of 5 stars. According to the front desk, the hotel was 40% occupied the night we stayed. Yet, they checked in someone after 11PM into a room next door or close to ours that decided to practice something that required a 1-2-3-4 step/dance pattern on those laminate floors long into the night. Turns out, it kept most of the people on our floor up as well. I gave up, put on earbuds, and tried to ignore it. Yes, I should have complained, that's why I didn't give this a 0. Pre-Banquet Bar - 3 out of 5 stars. Poor, poor selection, but at least they had Grey Goose and the bartenders were nice. That was their only saving grace. Banquet - 1 out of 5. The food served was a combination filet and small chicken breast on a bed of mashed potatoes and cooked whole carrots. Every setting already had a salad (arugula and greens) set and alternating desserts (cheesecake & something chocolate). By the time it was served, the food was almost cold and the filet's rare-to-medium-rare and bland (my wife called it more raw than rare). At least the chicken was cooked. If you didn't like rare beef, you ended up with half a meal or having to trade with someone else. Post-Banquet Food - 0 out of 5 stars. Snack-sized pretzels and peanuts. Cookies. A Hamburger Buffet. A Shrimp Buffet. And deep fried cheese balls in marinara (I think). You can't screw up pretzels, peanuts, and cookies. However, the hamburger buns were slider-sized and stale. The hamburger patties were not-slider sized, bland and cold. I could only eat one bite and threw the rest away. I took one bite of the shrimp and threw the rest away. Room Service - 4 out of 5. We ordered a pot of coffee for two for 8AM. It was at the door right on the money! The only negative thing would be the lack of stirring spoons. I stole one of the wood stirrers from the room coffee service as a replacement. Food - -2 out of 5 stars. As a last ditch effort to give the Renaissance a shot to redeem itself, we decided to give the hotel restaurant a try for breakfast. My wife ordered an omelet. I order the Eggs Benedict. My wife only ate half of her omelet because it was, what she thought, overcooked. The rest of the day, she complained about stomach cramps. Given my experience with the Benedict, I'm concerned with food poisoning. I took one bite of my Benedict, excused myself, ran for the bathroom, and spit it out in the toilet. I've never tasted something so obviously wrong and "metallic". I've never done that at a restaurant before. I settled for toast. Bar - 3 out of 5. Overpriced and their bourbon selection could be better, but, hey, it's a hotel bar. Service - 4 out of 5. I can't say anything negative about the service. Everyone we talked to was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Summary: If you're looking for a Marriott chain to stay in near Westerville, I recommend the Fairfield Inn near Polaris and I-71. If you need a great meal or drink, the Polaris Grill is highly recommended and within walking distance. Unless management addresses this above and you can put up with the nautical nonsense, I'd avoid the Renaissance. read more

Upon arrival at the Renaissance, I immediately notice how nice and beautiful it was with the giant windows in the lobby/restaurant looking out at the pound. As the days went on, I had very little complaints. The food at the restaurant was delicious, the front desk staff was helpful, and the bartenders were the best. My only complaint is we noticed some items missing after housekeeping had came threw one of the days. As someone who use to work in hotel housekeeping, I try not assume the worse, but after completely tearing apart our room and not finding the missing items, it left a bad taste in my mouth. We notified the front desk, and he let us know that he'd have housekeeping come up and look for the missing items. They were never found. read more

Allthough the grounds are nice, the service was not good. I don't know where to begin. It cost me over $200 for a room on the 2nd floor with my window facing a brick wall ( I'm assuming similar to a view from a jail cell). I booked my room over a week in advance. And I'm a gold elite member at Marriott ( also useless) and they couldn't accommodate me. The only reason o stayed here was because I had an appointment the next day. However, they managed to misplace my FedEx package causing me embarrassment and not being able to have a productive meeting. Then they gave me 500 Bonvoy points for my troubles. My wife and I stayed here on 2/20/21 for her birthday and we definitely wouldn't bother going back. We stayed during a "Romantic Getaway" promotion that included dinner for 2 along with breakfast. The room was ok, although the bed was extremely uncomfortable. My wife and I neither one was able to get much sleep. So much so that even though we had a late checkout for 1pm, we were gone by 8:30am. The dinner was very mediocre. Food was barely warm and some (mashed potatoes) was downright cold. The breakfast was pretty decent however, but nothing you couldn't get anywhere else at the many restaurants down the road. The stay was nowhere near worth the price. We could of had a room at the Hilton down the road and eaten out for $100 and still saved money for what we paid for this place. We never heard of this place and figured we'd give it a shot, but now we know better. Once home I was going over the receipt that was emailed to me and realized I was charged $32 for room service that we never ordered. We did not use room service at all during our stay. I called and told them about it and was told it was a mistake on their end and it would be refunded. Instead, they CHARGED ME THE $32 AGAIN for a second time instead of refunding $32. This place was below average and extremely overpriced for what it was. Also, to the Ralph guy who says he's a manager that replies to most of these reviews, don't bother. From reading all the other reviews, your replies are obviously cookie cutter copy/paste responses. Highly doubt he even bothers to actually read them. read more

Very nice hotel, brand new. Modern everything, cool fire pit outside, and the fitness room is a lot bigger than usual. They have dumbbells going up to 50lbs, 2 dual cable machines, and leg extension machine. Plus ellipticals and treadmills. Super nice staff. Only issue was that the walls are a little thin, and with the "always on" fan setting disabled, it was sometimes hard to get and stay asleep. Also, construction starts at 6am sharp on the site right across the street, so get a back facing room or you will be up early for the next couple of months probably. read more

Lobby and bar area does get a little loud after 5 but that expected. Lots of business travelers. If you don't like the noise go outside. Nice seating area with a lake and walking track. The hotel and stays were always great until recently. Last month I was on a work trip for the week. As I always do I placed the do not disturb sign on the door. One night I went out for dinner with my co workers and returned home to a strange surprise. There was a random microwave that had showed up, apparently dropped off by a hotel staff. The problem is the microwave was sitting on top of my active 2 smart watch that was on the charger and now the watch was not functioning. Mistakes happen as we know so I wasn't upset just disappointed. I brought the microwave down to the service desk and explained what took place. The next day the manager, call her A.D was helpful and assured me her GM was taking care of it. I heard nothing for a few days. Until I approached A.D again at the front desk. She stated there was a letter for me and handed me a business card from that envelope. Basically she wanted my info as well as the watch info i.e proof of purchase. I happily provided her with such via email and she replied with "thank I awarded you with 7000 Marriot points as well as reimbursement they were working on" Ok cool they will take responsibility right? Hell No! Instead a month has gone by and no reimbursement regardless of the emails I sent asking for an update. I was referred to the GM's voice mail and I don't expect a response. Basically they gave me 7000 points for a $300 watch they damaged and won't take responsibility for careless staff. Talk about a run around then some. The points are useless because I choose not to use the hotel ever again. Mistakes happen but people and business have to be held responsible. read more

Can't speak to the hotel as we did not stay. We made reservations for dinner at the two-one restaurant for NYE as the hotel is brand new and the pictures looked great. First off it's not a restaurant......it's basically the breakfast area of the hotel. I've stayed at many Renaissance hotels and have never experienced this. Secondly the service was awful.....there were 3 other tables filled when we got there and still couldn't get drink order in less than 15 mins. Orders chips and dip as appetizer and steak/cheeseburger as main course. 45 mins later I had to grab the waiter that had been nowhere to be found and asked where our chips and dip were at. He immediately got flustered and apologized for forgetting them? He comes back with our main courses which were cold....not lukewarm.....cold. Then brought the chips after. We do not eat anything and left. Stay away from this place as it's clear they cannot operate. read more

We had a lovely stay here. Lucky for us it was a slow business day so we were treated like royalty. The hotel is beautiful. The pool was warm, clean, with luxurious towels. The bed was very comfortable and I adored the aveda sundries. We had breakfast in the executive lounge and enjoyed the coffee and breakfast items. We would definitely stay again. I stayed at the hotel Friday and Saturday night. After a wonderful stay, I realized upon getting back home to Cleveland that I left two articles of clothing in the closet in my room. I called the front desk and they emailed me a form to fill out describing the items I have left and my contact information. My biggest fear is having housekeeping steal left behind items, so i was very worried that I wasn't going to get my items back. Well after multiple emails and phone calls, my correct items were received and I am now stress free. Thank you to all staff who helped to get my clothing back to me properly. I am so upset and disappointed in the hotels poor customer service level! I came all the way from Akron Ohio to visit my sister and family and when i say my stay was horrible from check in to check out i mean it!!! There was issues with our reservation and was completely disrespected by hotel staff and was also over charged considering we had a discount through our rewards account!!!! I mean the list goes on and on about the issues we had with this hotel & for this to be a 4 to 5 Star property, disappointment is beyond the issue !!!! No one accommodated us and we barely got an apology!!! We are currently still waiting for responses from the hotel management !!!! To add insult to injury, the older Caucasian front desk worker got on a radio calling for security when we walked through the door!!!!! I don't want to play the race card however it seemed to possibly be an issue !!!! Other guest who were also waiting in line to check in were just as upset and shoked as we were !!!!! We will be contacting corporate along with the BBB & highly recommend no one to stay at this property!!!!!! Customer service , people skills, communication & discrimination should never be an issue with any guest who come here!!!! Every experience should be a great one!!!!! No guest should be mistreated no disrespected only trying to check into a hotel!!!! Uncalled for!!!! I am extremely upset and disappointed !!!! What a waste of almost $300 a night!!!!!
