    Drury Inn king bed room
    John M.

"drear·y; an adjective, meaning dull, bleak, and lifeless; depressing." In all candor, I do not understand how the Drury Inn has a 4.5 star rating at the time of this review. As a routine business traveler, I have certainly stayed at places worse than this, but not often. Upon checking in, there were a couple of bad omens of the quality of the hotel. When I entered the hotel, there were four large rolling luggage carts stuffed into the small entry vestibule, and thus there was just barely enough room to enter the facility (but only if you do so in single file order). Then, at the check-in desk, I noticed several piles of hair on the floor right in front of the desk. Disgusting! I suppose I was hoping against hope that my room would be better (and since I was locked into a pre-paid, non-refundable work travel reservation through Egencia, going across the street to either the Hyatt Place or Marriott was not an option). My room was not much better than the lobby. Thankfully, the linens appear bright, and clean, but the carpets are dark and dirty; the bathroom tub faucet is broken; and the "finer touches" leave much to be desired. I must admit, I abhor discovering the wall-mounted soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers in hotel bathrooms--they just seem so cheap and unsanitary. Wasn't the guest prior to me washing their nether regions, and then touching that same shampoo dispenser--and now I am expected to touch it? No thanks; I will defer to the single sanitary, wrapped miniature soap bar next to the sink. Actual shampoo will have to wait until I get home. On the positive side, the front desk clerk was very professional and cheery (but curiously recommended the neighboring Longhorn Steakhouse as the "best restaurant in Dublin"). The hotel does offer a free breakfast buffet, and up to three free "adult drinks" per guest during happy hour, though I am not sure getting patrons inebriated is the cure for the lack of attention to details that ails this establishment (at least on my visit). In short, I've found the Drury Inn to be dull, bleak, and bordering on depressing. Hence, my reference to the coincidently sounding "dreary" definition to open this review. On my next trip to Ohio, I'll pick one of the places across the street.

Every winter we get away for a long weekend somewhere and last December it was Columbus. I have stayed here a few times. I love the Drurys. This one is a wee older and dated but I like it just fine. The happy hour is killer. The pool is always clean. Not five star dining but what can you expect for free breakfast and kickback happy hour? Im usually to drunk to taste anything anyway. Staff is always nice too. Only thing (as with any hotel) is if your unlucky enough you stay the same weekend as a kids sports team, dance troupe or family reunion and you get to see how other people suck. Just seeing how they destroy the dining room and carry on I could just IMAGINE what they do to their rooms. The ladies that clean this place are saints...

Decent stay here 5/23/19... clean room, plenty of bathroom linens and bed was decent enough for a sound sleep. I was running behind and missed the evening kickback but the breakfast the next morning was good. Definitely not the Embassy Suites breakfast but no reason to go hungry. Front desk check in was a breeze. The general manager was the person who checked us in and he was very nice. The front desk attendant the next morning was very nice as well. This is an older property as many have noted but still a good place for a one nights stay. The room we had was directly across from the elevator which was annoying due to noise but not as bad around the midnight hour through at least 7am. Would stay here again.

I've stayed in several 4-5 star hotels for many times more the costs... I prefer Drury! Can't beat the amenities and the price! Comfy bed!

It is very well designed and has an upscale feel to it. The location is great with many restaurants within easy walking distance. The only item I would change is the food isn't great here. The breakfast restaurant (albeit very affordable for a hotel) seemed to over-salt food but there are plenty of options in the area for alternative dining. The rooftop bar, Vasso, has a nice view of the river and has a nice ambience. I suggest deferring to the waiters on food to order (the pierogi was great, the ceviche was awful). The other item to flag is that there are a TON of taxes and fees attached to the base rate- 7 additional line items (approx $38 extra per night for my stay).

The hotel is not handicap friendly, as one in our party got stuck getting out of the elevator. We are regular Hilton customers but will rethink all Hilton Garden Inns. We had to walk to the Embassy Suites, which was close by just to get a night cap. Although there was a small bar, no one ever worked it. But the suites at this Residence Inn don't just have kitchenettes -- they have full kitchens! In the hotel room, there's a refrigerator and freezer, a stove with an oven, a sink, dishes and silverware, and lots of storage for your food. The room also has a two-person bar table just off the kitchen, so there's somewhere to sit and eat. Having a kitchen and table in our room made our stay just that much more enjoyable. We stayed in a room with a king bed, but there were four of us so two of us slept on the pull-out couch bed. Both beds were comfortable, and they give you extra linens and blankets for the pull-out, and you can request more if that's not enough. This hotel has an indoor pool that's pretty large, and the water was warm. The gym, which is right by the pool, is kind of small, so you might want to get there early so you can work out by yourself. There is also an outdoor basketball court around the side of the hotel. Just ask the people behind the desk for a basketball if you didn't bring one with you! The only downside to our stay was that housekeeping will not service your room unless you're staying for a week or more. So each day, we had to leave our own trash bags outside of our hotel room for the staff to eventually pick up. We also had to do the same with our wet/dirty towels, and then request clean towels at the front desk each day. It was kind of a drag. Apparently, this is the new standard with hotels since the pandemic, so I kind of expected to do my own room service. It just puts a downer on the trip, and I wish they would reinstate room service again as a standard.

This hotel has an awesome workout room, plus an indoor pool and laundry. Not sure why a room with two Queen beds is priced less than a single King, but that's what I selected. We returned to our room Monday July 14th at approximately 9:30 pm. Like the day prior it appeared no one cleaned the room. I went into the restroom to prepare for bed and noticed an item on the bathroom sink. The item was a used BLOODY TAMPON stuck inside the wrapper of the new tampon. I'm assuming it was left there by the cleaning staff that entered my room but didn't clean it. The hotel front desk was notified and I requested he come to the room. He did so and we went to the front desk to resolve the issue. Not once did he offer a new room and when we asked who was going to clean / sanitize the bathroom, the attendant stated it was NOT HIS JOB!!! He also said, the cleaning staff would not be in until the following morning. I requested he give me the GM's number so I could call him. The attendant refused to provide the number so I requested he call the GM to resolve the issue in which he promptly refused. My son got justifiably upset and the attendant threatened to CALL THE POLICE and THROW US OUT of the hotel. I called Marriott and filed a complaint. Marriott asked for the attendant's name which he failed to provide and was not wearing a name tag. Finally, I demanded a new room which they provided but at the expense of a good night's sleep. Tuesday morning, Paul the GM said, he would contact me by Wednesday evening, this would give them time to investigate the incident and stated we'll make it right. It's been a week and I have not been contacted by Paul or Marriott. Paul appears to have been trained by Salma the former GM. Read the other reviews (Francis B. Mar 2, 2022) that talk about cleanliness and how they were treated by hotel staff, they push back. Nothing has changed at this property. To add insult to injury they comped a friend staying there that I called to witness the item in my room and the behavior of the front desk attendant. I would have rated the hotel even lower if it was an option. Extremely disappointed in Marriott.
