In 2018, we completed an interior remodel of our home and wanted to add a final touch by upgrading our front entry door. I was familiar with Renaissance Doors from when they manufactured doors locally in the late 2000s, so we contacted them for this project. We selected a white-painted wood front door and specifically asked about the type of wood to be used. We were told it would be poplar wood, locally built, and suitable for a painted finish. Based on this information, we placed our order. The door was not inexpensive -- priced at $6,000, with an estimated delivery timeframe of 6-8 weeks. However, after more than three months, there was no sign of the door. When we called to cancel the order, we were told that 30% of the cost would be withheld as a cancellation fee, and were surprised to learn at that point that the door was being manufactured in China -- contrary to the original representation of a locally built product. Reluctantly, we decided to wait an additional five weeks for the door to arrive. When it did, the installation was completed professionally. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed that the privacy glass was shattered. Upon reporting this, we were told the damage was part of the "risk during transportation from China." About six months later, the door began cracking at the joints. Concerned about the structural integrity, we removed the latch to inspect the interior and discovered that the door was made entirely of compressed particleboard, not poplar wood as initially promised. We documented the issue with clear photographs and shared them, but the company refused to replace or remedy the situation. We are deeply disappointed by both the misrepresentation of materials and the lack of accountability for the product's failure. We believe our experience speaks for itself -- and as the saying goes, "pictures speak louder than words."

    Double door setup

We have had one of the double door products for about 5 years. They look nice and receive compliments. However, all the entry doors are best suited to interior applications for areas with harsher climates than Zone 7. They do not handle harsh weather. They also have to be sheltered from the elements so if you have a sheltered porch, these doors can work for you. If you exterior door is exposed to the elements, they can crack or warp or discolor. Additionally to the lower slab panels cracking, the jambs cracked on their own and the metal design rattles between the glass. These door slabs were a second set as the first was not designed for our weather (miscommunication between seller and their Chinese supplier). The cracks in the first door were far worse. It is possible the door jamb, which was the original wood, should have been replaced at the same time the slabs were but the seller said they didn't have any more like that. In hindsight, the entire double door system should have been replaced. The doors were installed by professional door installers. Nice looking doors, just not durable. You pay a lot of money for aesthetics but not quality. The irony is I could have bought a set of double doors for half of what I paid but was forced down this path by the home builder.

    Hinge Screws

We hired Mike and his company to replace our front door and install a brand-new door Jamb. After five years we decided to have the door refinished. The door does get a lot of direct sunlight. I reached out to Mike for a quote. Luckily, we decided to use another company. When the new company arrived and started to remove the door three of the screws that attached the hinges to the new door jamb were stripped. We also found six other extremely short screws were used in the other two hinges. See picture below. I guess the installer didn't have the correct screws, so he used whatever he had. I was also informed that Mikes company didn't use a varnish. They just painted the door. Mike never showed up to make sure the door was installed correctly. I sent Mike an email and asked about the poor job his employees did. He DID NOT respond. I would not recommend this company. Their work is subpar. Mike has no follow through. We are extremely disappointed!

When it was time to choose a company for our new front door, I was most impressed with the quality and endless selection this one had. Every single detail my husband and I was able to choose and they were so patient with us for each change! We designed the glass ourselves which included jewels, a Beauty and the Beast feel, including elements of Princess Cruises which we love. It is now our show stopper!

We had an incredibly easy transaction with RED . Our front doors are magnificent. Mike is amazing to deal with. He guided us all the way. From style to the color of the wood. The installers were very professional, neat and tidy.very pleasant. Our house looks like a different house with the new doors. Alan and Ilana

We met with Mike at our home and in his showroom. He explained the process of customizing a front door and showed us his showroom and warehouse areas. He was very transparent on the process, to the indication of which type of wood would be perfect depending on how the afternoon hot sun shined on our current doors, to the different types of hinge options, handle options and even smart locks. After compiling all the options we selected, within a few weeks or so we had our amazing new front doors professionally installed. Could not be happier with the outcome. They actually look better than we could have possibly imagined! Thank you to Mike and his team for everything. Our new front doors definitely showcase the front of our home.

Despite the short notice, they were able to come out within a day or 2. From start to finish, the team was punctual, professional, and thorough. They went above and beyond to ensure the installation was flawless. We experienced some technical challenges with the existing keycard system (installed by another vendor), and Mark's team refused to leave until the issue was fully resolved. Even called the vendor to help us work through the issue regardless that it wasn't their responsibility. It was a programming issue on our own servers and we were able to get that resolved quickly. The work Mark and his team had no issues at all. While onsite, we learned that Off The Hinge offers a wide range of other services, and we will absolutely be bringing them back to assess additional projects. Their pricing was reasonable, their work was efficient, and their technical knowledge was unmatched. On top of it all, they're a locally owned and operated business, which made working with them feel even more rewarding. We can't recommend them highly enough and will definitely be doing business with them again.

When we told him we were not certain about the style of doors for some of the items he urged us to sign the contract to take advantage of the discount and assured us we would be able to update via a change order. Nothing would be ordered until the choices were made and the change order was executed. We have done many remodeling projects over the years and change orders are standard so we had no reason to doubt his assurances. Since then he has overpromised and failed to deliver. Every time we texted or emailed to ask about the change order status he reiterated that it was with the office, everyone was aware, nothing would be ordered and the change order would be sent - tonight, tomorrow, next day...you get the picture. After weeks of waiting for the change order so we could move on the project, we tried to escalate a number of times because based on the reviews we expected better customer service. However, we were told we needed to resolve all the miscommunications and failed follow through with the salesman that had failed to follow through. Imagine our surprise when we got a text that some of the doors were ready for installation. The salesman was shocked as he had told us nothing would be ordered until the change order was signed. In an effort to salvage the project and because we wanted to believe the salesman, we allowed for partial installation. The installation was riddled with additional issues. Wrong hardware, wrong trim, no wood molding around the door. The salesman was apologetic and did not understand why there was a disconnect. After another few weeks of messages, emails and requests to escalate, we finally got confirmation that the salesperson and the director of revenue would come to our home at 2pm on 6/22. They arrived late 30 minutes late (even though my husband had made it clear he was meeting them during his lunch hour) and the director of revenue was defensive and put all blame on the misrepresentations made by their salesman on us. During the meeting the salesman told him that the remaining doors had not been ordered. After that meeting the company STILL had the salesman follow up to ask how we wanted to proceed. He was embarrassed at that point because he was telling us the company would be able to address our concerns and they hung him out to dry. Even though it wasn't our fault, in an effort to put this nightmare behind us and NEVER deal with them again, after a few exchanges with the director of revenue, we agreed to a resolution provided they completed the project by today. No response for over a week until this afternoon when they basically said 'thanks for agreeing to letting us do what we haven't done but keep bending over backwards so we can do it in our terms'. @owner of the company you should step in sooner and not wait for the online reviews to try justifying the experience. For all those that posted 1 star reviews in the last year we should talk about options. Based on your experiences I can tell is not the individual players. It's the company.
