I will never go anywhere else for any of my jewelry needs. Aram is a stellar person who is extremely talented at what he does. I first met him several years ago while looking for someone to resize a bracelet of mine. We immediately hit it off, and I ended up chatting with him for several hours. We talked about everything from the art pieces he has on display, to his time as a soldier. I discovered that he is not a jeweler, he is a silversmith. The difference is that he is skilled at working with all kinds of metals; repairing, creating, and customizing. When you walk into the shop, if you look carefully you will start to recognize a LOT of the pieces on display. Hollywood chooses to work with Aram, and you will notice pieces such as the coin from the movie "Drive Angry", to the book from "The Da Vinci Code", to the Matrix of Leadership from the first Transformers movie. This should be your first clue that Aram knows what he is doing. Your second clue will come when you start asking him about custom work. When I was ready to propose to my wife, I called on Aram. I was very specific about what I wanted, and he took the time to ask all the right questions to make sure I would be satisfied with his work. He offered suggestions where my imagination was lacking, and took notes on the things that I was adamant about. Within a few days, Aram sent me a computerized drawing of our creation. Giddy with excitement, I approved the drawing and within 3 days he sent me a picture and video of my ring made in plastic or "wax". My heart starting to race, I once again approved the model. 9 days later, Aram sends me the first pictures of my completed ring! It was perfect!! Even better, when I presented this ring to my then fiance, she said YES!! Aram is not just my jeweler, he is my friend. He is an artist who takes great pride in what he does. You will not find a kinder jeweler, nor will you find one who gives you a more fair price for his work. Food for thought: When you go to one of those name brand jewelry stores to get your precious items repaired, those jewelry stores will send their work to Aram and then charge you up to 10 times more than he charges them. Think about that. I could write paragraph after paragraph about my experiences with Aram, but I'm going to close by letting my pictures speak for themselves. I needed a white gold replacement chain for a diamond pendant and decided to visit Aram at Renaissance. I was overwhelmed at the length he went to in finding the exact chain to suit my needs. He actually brought 12 or so chains from his source in LA for me to look at. This was such a small purchase but again he wanted to make sure the chain was going to be exactly what I wanted. The shop was busy at the time and another lady there also loved the chains...She bought one as well...When I got home I got a call from Aram saying he was so sorry but that he was so busy tending to customers he accidentally overcharged me $15. I was astonished at this businessman's honesty and integrity. He had also suggested rhodium instead of white gold chain when I first ordered and honestly I preferred the rhodium. He could have made another $200 $250 if I had gone with white gold ....He definitely cares about his customers. Thanks to Yelp, I found the Renaissance Repair Shop. The owner, Aram, can repair anything, and I so appreciated the bonus of meeting a most interesting and special person. I brought in a variety of pieces of jewelry that I have neglected over time, mostly sterling silver, that needed resizing, fixing, cleaning, and a watch that needed a new battery. Aram methodically looked at each piece and explained what he could do to improve it. My bf and I had to get my ring resized because it was to big. We went to a comercial jewelry place and they said $110 just to sized a half size down they would have to wipe the inscription. We then found this place and he was so kind and knowledgeable. He was able to save the inscription and size it down for $20. I came a couple of weeks ago for a ring with marquise cut diamonds on it. One of the stones came completely undone and another one was loose. My mom passed it down to me which was also passed down from my grandmother, so the ring is a bit old, probably purchased in the 1970s or 80s, so it doesn't have the fancy precision settings that are common today. Anyway, I found this place through handy dandy Yelp and I am so glad I did! Friday morning, around 10:00 am or so, no one else was there. It's a little shop right on the corner of a stop light and I almost didn't find it. The owner, Aram, greeted me so warmly, I almost felt like a close, close friend. I brought out the ring and showed him my dilemma and showed him where my mom put crazy glue several times to try and hold the stone down. Kids - I repeat - DO NOT use crazy glue for jewelry, real jewelry at least. Fake - maybe. Real - Don't. You'll end up losing whatever piece you tried to glue. So fast forward, Aram tells me he can fix this in about 15 minutes. I'm like - 15 minutes?! But how much is this going to cost me, because in my head I was thinking I'd be slapped with a bill I didn't have the money for... But he told me the price - and I was soooo relieved and happy. It was lower than what I had thought or imagined. And in 15 minutes?! Sign me up! So I waited there, and while he worked his magic, we talked about family, life, work, kids, house ..... He cleaned the glue, tightened whatever needed to be tightened, re-set the two stones, then polished it. He even gave me tips on jewelry. I really don't own too many, but this ring is special since it was my grandmother's who was my greatest inspiration in life.
