Fried Haddock and hand cut fries
    Tracy A.

Today a friend and I took a walk around Davidson Nature Preserve, and then had lunch nearby at Renarda's Kitchen. Renarda was there by herself, taking orders, clearing places and cooking and serving food. She was pleasant and friendly. However, as someone else's review mentioned, no one in the place besides us was wearing a mask, including Renarda. Granted, there were two couples in there when we were seated, and the tables were spaced apart, but as more people came in for lunch it became more uncomfortable. As for the food, the menu listed typical diner fare for lunch and breakfast, and I wasn't really expecting much. But when the food came, my friend and I were pleasantly surprised. The onion rings with indescribable "yum yum sauce" were really good - light and crispy. My fish was nicely fried, not greasy or soggy, and the hand cut fries were perfect. I thought my cole slaw was WAY too sweet, and only ate a forkful. My friend's club sandwich had big chunks of grilled chicken breast and looked fresh and crisp. That being said, the place could really do with a good cleaning. Again, in this time of pandemic, knowing that your food is being prepared and served in a place that's sanitary is SO important. The dining room and bathroom weren't clean. I may return to Renarda's, but if so I would wait until the pandemic has passed, and would eat outside.

These muffins were next level delicious! Served hot with whipped butter

Good local little restaurant/dinner feel that offers a variety of food. Had the bacon cheeseburger with a homemade whoopie pie! Yummy!

The Red Barn is a legendary Augusta, Maine restaurant. A fixture in the community, if you will…read more They've been a part of the Augusta landscape for decades (since '77). What are they famous for you ask? Well, seafood...of course. Specifically, the lobster roll. My boyfriend loves the lobster roll! I had the popcorn chicken basket with crinkle fries that I could eat everyday if given the choice. The seasoning and breading are just right & fried until golden brown without sacrificing safe cooking or flavor. Another one of those busy places-it's a restaurant that attracts locals and tourists. They've always got inspirational quotes on their marquee. Outdoor patio seating (tables with umbrellas) and a no-frills, basic interior decor. Gives total seaside vibes.

Maine has absolutely no shortage of seafood restaurants. They have the option for ordering takeout Ahead of time or online. There is significant outdoor seatting as well as a small interior dining room. The interior has one non gender handicap, accessible bathroom. The menu is not excessive, but the portions are generous. CAUTION: pay close attention to the prices. they will fluctuate and you should not assume what the final cost of your meal will be beforehand!! My clam basket and my daughter's 1/4lb roll (2 20 Oz drinks) totaled $65!! Now I will absolutely give credit to them for the clam portion being large and high quality. These were the type of onion rings that I prefer, which are thinner and more crunchy with less batter. That said, the total completely blew my mind.Because even with a very industry standard upcharge for onion rings in place of french fries.I had sticker shock. I grew up near Portland so I understand the price of seafood can change quickly. But I would say do some price shopping. Because this is more about the experience of the location since the quality of food does exist at other restaurants. In maine.
