Frustrating if you have celiac disease! This restaurant actually has a separate Gluten free menu... which was pretty exciting. My daughter ordered grilled shrimp (which comes with French fries or chips). The menu clearly states that the fries and chips are cross contaminated in a fryer that contains gluten... but I had to pay $2 extra to get my daughter mashed potatoes so she wouldn't be glutened! Overall great food and friendly service! We started outside but it was breezy and started getting chilly so we moved inside. Ordered the whole belly clams for our appetizer and a dozen oysters. Great food and service! Spent a long weekend in Bangor, Maine (first and probably last time) and figured I should have some lobster during my visit. Pepper's Landing came recommended by Chat GPT and Yelp so we checked it out earlier today. Julia was our server and was phenomenal at her job, especially considering my high maintenance kids. Super kind and fast even though she was waiting on a number of tables. We sat on the patio and enjoyed great weather and a nice view. My husband had the clam chowder and fried haddock sandwich. He's a Bostonian by birth, so his two thumbs up rating of the chowder means something. I had the lobster sauté, which surpassed my expectations, but I was also quite impressed with my side of vegetables - a healthy portion of well seasoned zucchini that was cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed a mocktail which I believe was called Ginger Fizz, and was amused by the cute presentation of the kids meals in a cardboard fishing boat. I ordered on-line a lobster roll with French fries and coleslaw. The service was great and on time. That's is the Only good news about this order. The fries were cold, dry and obviously frozen. The coleslaw was from a wholesale distributor like Sysco, not freshly made. And the lobster roll was the worst I have ever had, (I'm a third generation New Englander). The meat was tuff, clearly previously frozen, over cooked and virtually uneatable. I could Only eat about half the roll and literally spit out the last bite. I got a much better lobster roll at an Irving gas station last summer. Peppers Landing has a lot of nerve charging $35 for this lobster roll.... They would have a lot of nerve charging $3.00 for this meal. I will never go back and you should not go... you will thank me. read more

The fish chowder didn't have any fish in either mine or my husband's chowder other than a few flakes but had plenty of potatoes. It also came out lukewarm at best. I had the seafood stuffed haddock which the stuffing had one shrimp I didn't find any scallops not even chopped up. We dined on a Wednesday so it was not super busy. Our service, Gabe was wonderful. Our food was serviced as described. We ordered baked stuffed haddock, crab rolls, mussels for appetizer. We enjoyed our table indoors. The weather was not the best. Otherwise we would have enjoyed the pation over looking the river. The inside is nice, but a little overly done on coastal theme, i.e. it feels forced/new and not natural and authentic. I also felt the inside was a bit too spacious, lacking some warmth. Pretty good food...some is definitely bar food and delish. Some is more fine dining food and, while it is well done, everything seemed a bit overcooked to us. Portions go from adequate (fine dining) to bountiful (bar food.). Fresh fish and seafood is not cheap, but reasonably priced. One side of the restaurant is an eat in bar area and the other is a dining room with booths and tables with a nice river view. If you like Maine IPAs there are plenty to enjoy! And in the bar area you can "compete" on an ongoing networked trivia game...great for a group get together to knock back some tasty bar food, cold beers and a chance to show everyone how smart you are in mindless facts! Wonderful addition to Old Town! The restaurant has been very nicely remodeled. It is CLEAN and nice. Beautiful outdoor patio offering seating along the river. We were a group of 10 and were treated so well. Our waiter (Jonah) was attentive and friendly and was a wonderful person to deal with our group. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My son goes to college at The University of Maine. I love to visit him but genuinely, I love to visit peppers landing. There is an incredible waterfall area. The building is beautiful and clean. There is fresh lobsters to greet you as you walk in. The host and the rest of the service is top shelf. The beer selection is very good and the seafood is unparalleled in the area. Most of all, It's an incredible value. I live on the East Coast of Massachusetts and the sea food is excellent but the price is much much higher than here at peppers landing. It seems that it's a family business that truly likes to offer a great value to the community. My son is only a freshman so I hope to Done there many more times during his tenure at college. I highly recommend this place and would travel a great distance to experience Peppers Landing. read more

Ordered take out of the blackened fish tacos and the baked mushroom appetizer. $19 and only two barely filled tacos with slimy lettuce. Advertised as an avocado puree, when it's just thin slices (don't call it a puree). Tacos were so soggy and fishy tasting. Baked mushrooms...they were so salty you need a gallon of water to finish. I walked in saw my order, no one greeted me until after a couple of minutes. I grabbed my own bag then someone came running over. Having someone at the front counter to welcome guests is always key. I felt awkward, and grabbed my food and left. Overall- avoid the tacos. There's nothing in them but slimey old lettuce and doesn't hold together as a taco. Immediately fell apart from being so watery. $19 for 2 tacos I could go to Margaritas or Tacorita and get 3 for less. Tried giving Pepper's Landing a chance, but disappointed. read more

I have eaten at Pepper's Landing a handful of times since they opened. I find all of the prices are fair, even the seafood is not expensive like you find at other restaurants. I am a big fan of their signature Pepper's Champ beer. I have not tried sitting outside yet as it has been too hot on the visits I've had but I imagine the river and the nice patio offer for a relaxing outside experience. My wife and I recently enjoyed a delicious lunch at Peppers Landing in Old Town. We were seated with a fantastic view of the expansive Penobscot river. I enjoyed a perfect martini and my wife had a delicious glass of Chardonnay with our fresh oysters to start. Visited for the first time last Saturday. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable for my concerns about COVID. A very extensive menu; I saw many items I would like to try on another visit. My sister and I shared the dinner sized shrimp basket, and her husband enjoyed the lunch portion of clam strips. We all chose the side of house-made potato chips, which were seasoned so deliciously and had not a bit of oil. The service was attentive, but not overly so. The only disappointment was that their kegs were "too warm," so we were relegated to bottled beer... not really a great hardship.
