TLDR; You should absolutely go out of your way to go here - I could see this being my last meal on earth. Context: I've done both take out & dine in. I typically call ahead for take out since everything is made fresh to order. Food I'd order again - I've tried almost everything on the menu at this point. I am now a vegetarian and still love this place so much. All time favorites: pesto tortellini & any pizza your heart desires. This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to in socal. To start, the service is absolutely amazing, everyone is so friendly! My boyfriend and I have now decided to go once a month to treat our selves. Everything we have tried on the menu has been absolutely amazing. Would change a thing. Renatos was great once upon a time or maybe still is if you carry out or do catering but the service to dine in is awful! Our Waitress had the worst customer service and his attitude stinks like if we were bothering him or asking for a free meal. It was a group of 11 and we literally waiting for a long time for water refills, bread, orders or just in general because "they were too busy" even if the restaurant was half empty. This is for sure our last time coming here to celebrate a birthday. Yes, another review. If you want homemade Lasagne or any Italian food on the menu, this is a hidden gem. It's tucked in a corner of a strip mall, literally the corner. The staff is friendly and efficient and if you're a regular they know what you want before you do. This lasagne takes 20 minutes, so sample some of their wines. Personally, I don't have knowledge about wine's but my brother-in-law seems to think it's impressive. When I walked in yesterday they were making ravioli, as you can see...it looks very fresh and tasty! Lastly, there's a beautiful mural along the back wall. It adds a "Touch of Italy". 02/14/2023 We arrived right after they opened so there were many choices for inside seating. Eventually the place began to fill up for lunch. We ordered the calamari fritti which came out quickly. It was lightly breaded and fried crispy. Their bread came out shortly after. Warm, buttered and seasoned. Not very garlicky so not sure if it was garlic bread or just buttered bread bBut it was still yummy! Little O got the mushroom and truffle Fettucine Alfredo. The noodles tasted freshly made and the sauce was creamy. I tried the Linguine with Clams. Their version had some red sauce added into it. The clams were cooked well and the flavor of the dish was good. Noodles were spaghetti and definitely not freshly made. Both pasta dishes were large enough portions for us to have another meal the next day. Hubby's pizza was about the size of a medium and is definitely shareable. There was a good amount of toppings and the crust was thin. The next day the pizza heated up was crispy and just as good. We saw the cannoli shells on our way in but we were so full that we didn't have room to have any. So we'll have to come back again for morgreat Italian food and cannolis for dessert. read more

I came to Renato's on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my family and I definitely want to come back! The restaurant is located in a large plaza with lots of other stores and restaurants. The servers were all very nice and helpful. There aren't that many tables but a decent amount. I ordered the gnocchi with pink sauce and wow! This was sooo good. The gnocchi was soft and chewed and the sauce complimented it so well. I shared pizza with my sister and the pizza was also really good. Wednesday night's special is "no corkage" fee. What could be better since most of the cost is in the drinks. Had to take advantage of this. My first time here although I've driven by this place for the last 35 years. It's been a community staple surviving through all the growth and developments of the Vietnamese community. Very casual and mom and pop ambiance. I could see the Godfather sitting at the corner table. Small and quaint with friendly staff and quick service. Food is good, always when there's lots of wine. Prices are reasonable and won't brake the bank. Good selection of pasta dishes among other things. I had the rack of lamb cooked to my order of medium rare and it was perfect. Lamb, if not cooked/prepared right, can smell gamy but this had no smell. Kudos! It was crowded this night thinking that patrons were taking advantage of the special but that wasn't the case since I didn't see any other tables with wines. Solid neighborhood establishment for Italian food. They've been tucked in the corner of the shopping plaza since 1982. Ordered take out here a couple of times. Appreciated that given high inflation, they're able to provide reasonable prices for tasty Italian dishes. Pastas with meat range from $14-16 on average if you're getting chicken or Sausage. A little more for seafood. Pasta comes with bread and they put your order on top of their pizza oven to keep it warm pending pick up. My favorite is pink sauce penne with chicken! I could eat that all day everyday. I'm a fan of the special pizza (regular crust not thin crust). Cesar salad for $5.50 is a big box not a small side box. Fettuccine Alfredo and spaghetti with meatballs but the spot too. A loss star because the linguine and clams tasted a bit gritty and also the clams tasted a bit like ocean. The thin crust pizza margherita ($18) I would recommend to skip. The crust is thin relative only to their regular pizza and the entire thing is covered in tomato slices, would have expected more cheese to tomato ratio and maybe more large slices of basil. Not my two favorite dishes, but won't let these two dishes keep me from coming bacl. read more

Came back since pre-pandemic recently for my birthday and everything was as great as I remembered. The pepperoni pizza tasted just like when I used to eat it back in junior high and brought me back to when they used to sell pizza by the slice just after you entered the restaurant on the left. The place has since been updated with a bit fancier decor. Tasty complimentary garlic bread is still provided but I was disappointed my favorite pasta dish with scallops and shrimp was no longer on the menu. I ordered the Linguini Maestro which was very light and tasty. Our kids ate up the spaghetti and meatballs. We then came back again two weeks later and ordered the same pizza and spaghetti for the kids. This time we remembered to let the pizza cool a bit before grabbing a slice otherwise the cheese and toppings would slide right off! Opted for the Linguini with clams this time which was so delicious with a tasty sauce. Some clams were very small but they gave you plenty. We also had steamed clams for an appetizer which my seafood loving son enjoyed. Juan Carlos was our server for our second recent visit and provided us with excellent service. We also received excellent and friendly service on my birthday but forgot our server's name. Still my favorite Italian place after all these years and the service is better than ever. read more
