DO NOT HIRE SHAWN RENDON** We hired Rendon Construction for a full home remodel. Initially, Shawn Rendon was extremely professional and understood our needs. Work began on 9/13/2023 and was scheduled to be completed by 11/2/2023. At first, communication was great, and he even set us up with an app to view daily updates on our project. However, he only posted updates during the first few days. The demolition was prompt, and for the first couple of weeks, there were roughly 2-3 workers at the house throughout the day. Unfortunately, the workers often didn't know what they were supposed to be doing and would ask us for direction when we stopped by. After week two, there was only one worker (James) at the house, if anyone was there at all. It was his first and only time working for Shawn. James was overwhelmed and pulled in many directions due to Shawn's lack of oversight and poor project planning. Shawn often redirected James to work on other houses, including his own personal house. Shawn never once worked on our home himself. The most he ever did was haul away the trash dumpster. Shawn constantly made excuses and blamed us for issues like "our tile and grout selection," even though we picked tile from a store he recommended and only provided a grout color, not a specific product. Shawn's failure to order products on time caused delays, and we lost our selection for our kitchen countertops. We chose our countertops in September, but Shawn didn't order them until late November. Shawn constantly contradicted himself & his contradictions costs us thousands of dollars in addition to what was in our work order. He couldn't reconcile billing or keep up with change orders and invoices. He failed to apply payments properly and always had an excuse for everything. We had unapplied payments for months sitting in an untouched portal. In mid-December, six weeks after the contract should have been completed, Shawn claimed no workers had shown up because we hadn't paid him, even though he never sent an invoice. When he finally sent an invoice, we paid it the same day, despite the incomplete work. We always paid on time, per our contract that he failed to honor. The project dragged on until February. In the end, there was no "thank you for your business" or a final walk-through on our $95k project. read more

I would give zero if I could. Worst contractor ever. My remodel cost me so much more money to fix the problems I was left with after hiring him. If you hire him for flooring please know the floor boards will not be included. Nor will they haul away the debris. Another added cost because now the floorboards need to be added back. So you're stuck with paying someone else to finish his job. When they removed the toilet to replace to floor, the toilet was left in my front yard! I had to have it reinstalled by someone else. He installed my kitchen sink and 2 weeks later learned it was not done right and my kitchen flooded. No attention to detail and takes no pride in his work. Hire anyone else. I have pictures and proof. It will cost you so much more money to fix any work done by Rendon Construction. read more

I just had Shawn and his team add 4 feet to my garage so I'll could park my truck inside. While that doesn't seem like much it was quite the effort. Shawn came out and bid. Set up a schedule. And delivered. I even changed the scope and he accommodated my request immediately. I was always kept up to date and any delay, or change of cost, was discussed and agreed upon. I paid what he bid besides what cost change occurred due to code. Still he called and explained the change. I would highly recommend Shawn and his team!! I am not writing this as a review, although it may sound like one, but it's meant to be more like this is what to expect. The project started out as a kitchen remodel, then two new double French doors one with a new opening the other fit in place where a slider was and a new opening for an interior door were added to the project. Most the companies I received estimates from estimated about a three week timeline for the kitchen project and about three to four days for each of the door additions projects, let's just call an extra week for each or two additional weeks. Once the kitchen was prepped for cabinets the work came to a halt as did the additional projects added. Cabinets took three days to install, then removed and another week to paint, no other work was done the other two days of that week. Now I know Shawn, which by the way is a nice guy, is going to dispute this and add that the tile and granite had last minute changes which I did so, let's be generous and add another week to the project, I believe that makes it a total of six weeks now. There would be days a tradesman would not show, at one point I questioned if they were sending a tradesman to finish the work and I was told the painter was there. Well yes he was but he's painting outside, why is there not any work going on inside? He didn't want the two butting heads, how does that happen when one is inside and the other outside? You can expect one tradesman at a time through most your project. But Shawn is a nice guy. Expect your home to be treated as a construction site, this includes your garage and yard as well. You'll have piles of debris forming in your home only to be moved to, in my case, the side yard and garage. Along with the debris the garage was also used for the storage of new materials which was never discussed. You'll have water shut offs without prior communication. If you have pets or kids be careful, the last few weeks of the project we were constantly picking up razor blades from the floor. Smoke detectors were removed and not replaced, I eventually replaced it. And let's not forget the dust abatement, this is only done during demo, the rest of the time nothing and your house becomes a dust bowl. But Shawn is a nice guy. The project from start around May 1 to finish September 2019 took about four months. To put this into perspective an entire home renovation takes three to four months. Now a year later all the shoddy work it starting to show. Yesterday noticed a gas smell under the stove, SDG&E came out and found the gas valve leaking. She says it happens to older valves, but wait, I paid to have the gas line moved a year ago it's all new. She tells me the brand of the valve is so old you cannot buy them anymore. She shut off the gas to the entire home on a Sunday afternoon. Really! Now it's going to cost me $375.00 to repair something I supposedly already paid for. read more

We highly recommend Rendon Costruction. Shawn and his crew remodeled a bathroom in our 1957 home that was in dire need of help. From start to finish the experience was a pleasure...say that about a 5 week construction zone in your home and you realize you're dealing with pros. Daily updates and rapid response to questions were the norm as was their willingness to make changes on the fly. Every member of Shawn's crew was polite and respectful and will always be welcome in our home. I really love the attention to detail this company offers. Very responsive. He remodeled my bathroom, built an outdoor bbq island and removed existing windows and installed slider and French doors. Work was completed without a flaw and the work looks great. We are setting up for phase 4 which includes remodeling my kitchen/dining room. Rendon Construction just replaced the countertops and backsplash in our kitchen. Shawn is extremely professional and provides a high quality product. He get back to you immediately when you have questions. His standards for the work product were higher than mine. Everything provided by his subcontractors was fixed if there were any problems. We recently purchased a home that was in dire need of a master bathroom renovation. After entertaining bids from several contractors, we signed with Shawn and he had his guys working on the project within a week. There were some minor issues with one of the subcontractors, but Shawn was quick to correct the problems and even threw in some trim work to compensate for the inconvenience. Overall, Rendon Construction did a solid job on the bathroom and treated us fairly throughout the process; we'll definitely consider Shawn and Co. again in our future projects. read more

We recently completed a remodel with Rendon Construction. We decided to do a major home improvement in one shot. The work consisted of all new windows (upstairs and downstairs), with multiple windows changing frame sizes, and adding two new windows. Gutting the kitchen and moving it to the opposite side, removing walls -to expand living area, new roof, guest bathroom and paining exterior of house, as well as many, many, electrical upgrades throughout the house. Since we had our work cut out for us, we did our research and narrowed it down to interviewing six contractors. We highly recommend for any home improvements, you need to shop around and be meticulous.... this includes interviewing contractors. From the six contractors, we narrowed it down to three. It is interesting to review the differences each brought to the table, along with pricing. Rendon Construction was not the least expensive, but Shawn listened during the two walk-thrus we did (during interview and collecting info to generate the bid), made suggestions and was not pushy. The other two had good backgrounds, but were late during interviews; no courtesy call, one too pushy and the other appeared very laid back and did not take any notes during the walk thru. Since the beginning, we were very pleased with Shawn. Very likable person, polite, and always communicated with us. We did go through rough patches, but all those were delays brought by the city, which had no reflection on Shawn or his work. His employees picked up after themselves, were on time and were courteous. If we were dissatisfied with the work, Shawn would take care of it immediately. There were occasions we thought things looked great, but when Shawn would do a walk-thru, he would catch something and have his employees correct it. It felt good knowing that he cared that much to correct finished work. Shawn visited frequently, called daily, and was open to receive calls at any time of the hour. When Shawn was not available to answer, he would return calls within the hour. With the many meticulous requests, Shawn never made us feel like we were a bother. We are very satisfied with Rendon's work and highly recommend him to anyone. For sure we already have the next project in mind, and we know who we will be calling, Rendon Construction. read more

For us, the remodel experience was completely different than the 7 previous reviews. Shawn appeared to be knowledgeable and smart however we received the brunt of all of his learning mistakes. It was hell for us from January to June 2018. Many promises were made but just to get us to pay him some money. We were left to deal with one of the unlicensed contractors he brought on the job, one who ultimately caused us endless headaches and who walked off the job with our money. By filing a complaint to CSLB against that contractor it was discovered that Shawn was in violation as well to have hired an unlicensed contractor so CSLB filed a complaint against him and we were included for "abandonment" since he has yet to finish our punch list and close out our contract. He was found guilty, fined with a mark on his license. This guy is slick and sadly his needs and desires were far more important than ours. read more

I am writing this review to prevent another homeowner from experiencing the same thing we did. If we could rate Rendon Construction a 0/5, we would. It's been a year since we initially started with Shawn Rendon and we continue to have to fix their work a year later. Shawn was contracted to perform a complete remodel of our new home and nearly every piece of the house they touched, we've had to hire someone else to fix. Similar to Ryan N's review, we also had significant delays with an initial June completion date that turned into August without completion before he was eventually fired after a blackwater flood occurred in our home. (it was later found by a plumber that our sewage pipes were coated in plaster and other debris from materials dumped down our drains). The entire experience was a nightmare. You can't make up the things we experienced from degrading customer service, demands for money outside payment schedules, dumping of materials, leaving our home unlocked with doors left open after leaving the jobsite, leaving the jobsite trashed on a regular basis, not to mention he lost his license during a portion of our work which we found out from Vickie's post and verified with the CSLB. He is a very sly individual. Please ensure you take the time to research the contractors license if you decide to use him as his license has been riddled with complaints and currently has 2 showing. Please do not make the same mistake as us by using this man and his company. read more

We vetted quite a few contractors before we started a new project at our home. Let me tell you, we are SO happy we went with Shaun and Rendon Construction. Not only were they on time every day, but thorough, quick, and the work was nothing less than exceptional. The job started and ended on time and the quote came in well under all the rest of the bids. Shaun was quick answering questions and updating at all times of the day if needed. The company definitely puts their customers first. We have more jobs that need to be done and thanks to Rendon Construction, we have no doubt that we will use them on every single one. Highly, highly recommend them! read more
