Yes!!!! I have been in Kansas for several days, and this is the first food I have LOVED. I ordered the chicken burrito smothered in queso (small upcharge), along with a grilled jalapeno and Mexican corn. Delish! I can't say anything about ambience, because I DoorDashed dinner. First, the positives: the cheese enchilada, although inexplicably buried under lettuce, was actually quite good, and the beans and rice on the side were both standard tasty additions...but The overwhelming negatives: we ordered carry-out, and I ordered the #10 dinner, which was pork carnitas. What I received was a #2 dinner, with a taco and enchilada. The taco was inedible and probably the worst taco I've ever had in Wichita. The meat was burnt, desiccated, and impossible to chew. The corn shell was over-fried. The restaurant offers a self-service salsa bar with to-go cups. Three of the four salsas are "free" for carry-out, but for some reason, the 4th salsa, a "guacamole salsa" is 25 cents a cup for carry out, but free for dine-in. This was not disclosed at time of payment, but the woman behind the counter yelled at my daughter for taking ONE cup of this guacamole salsa. Because she had no spare change on her, she asked if she could pay with her card, and was told "no, but next time, make sure you pay for it!" (Not that there will EVER be a next time.) The restaurant also doesn't allow water cups, you have to buy a soft-drink for a water cup. AND in a restaurant with a 130 customer capacity, they have NO bathrooms available. Way to make your customers feel valued and comfortable. If you treat your customers like dirt and yell at them, you're not going to get much repeat business in a town that has about 100 nearby taco stands. Rene's is now on my "never return ever" list. read more

Today, 2/7/2026, I called and attempted to place a to go order. The phone was answered by a woman worker who instantly was rude or irritated or something.. she asked "is it a small order or....?". I let her know I'd consider it a small order. I ordered a Colorado burrito, hot Cheeto burrito, order of chips and salsa, and one large horchata. She asked how long it'll take to get there, I tell her, my gps is saying 13 minutes and she says see you in 13 minutes. I get there, order hasn't been put in, told to the cooks or anything. Omg worst Mexican food ever! The only ones we saw were SOUR PUSSES...NO personality. We ordered our food and the cashier didn't bother to give me my change. It was only 75 cents so I let it slide. Our tacos were double fried. The shells and pulled beef in them, were completely burnt. I ordered a tamale and it too was dried out and rubbery. This place is neat! The dining area and the gender neutral restroom are clean and tidy. Service was quick and food was excellent. I ordered the quesabirria and horchata. The tacos were hot and tasty. I didn't even need the consommé as the tacos were flavorful by themselves. They came with 4 in a plate, filled with meat and gooey cheese. I had to give one to Chris as it was a lot for me! We usually go to a different Rene's but our usual was closed today. We sat at the screen waiting forever before we were finally greeted. We ordered and sat waiting for the total for about three minutes before the lady came back and said "are you going to pull to the window?" We got home and our order was missing rolled tacos. We ordered two cheesy steak burritos one with no sour cream. One came with no sour cream; but it wasn't the one labeled no sour cream. The person bit into it and couldn't eat their food because of it. We had food for four people and were only given 3 hot sauce containers. We won't be returning to this Rene's. read more

Just went to Rene's for the 3rd time this week for lunch. A newly discovered restaurant for me. I forgot to say, "lots of hot sauce" while ordering. The 2 times I did before, I was given 6 or 7 in the bag. I asked the girl for hot sauce and she said there is one of each in the bag. I asked for 4 more. She snapped $1.08. I said excuse me? I thought I misheard what she said. She said, "it's .25 each." Whaaaat?? I drove off. Now I am wondering if the guy charged me several dollars extra for the sauce the other 2 times. I won't lie, aside from Texas, California, and Mexico itself-- the best fast casual Mexican restaurants I have had are probably in Kansas City where I grew up and the Hispanic population is large. I've had to change my expectations a bit moving to Wichita. That being said-- one of the better breakfast burritos in town. Ratios of bacon, egg, and potato were overall even and the bacon was crisp and tasty. I say a solid 7. I find way too many of these establishments put really large chunks of thick bacon-- almost more ham-like and it's basically chewing through shoe leather with the flavor over powering the burrito itself. But not Rene's thankfully. I wish I could speak to their hot sauce. My delivery order came with none which I feel is a small travesty. I'll reserve judgment for now but the mass majority of the hot sauces I've had in town have heat but lack flavor and are just very one note acidic heat. The tortilla was good--- a little chewier than I would have liked but I think that is just a sign of the dough being overworked. Beans were 6.5 and rice was 6.8. I really don't have any true complaints about Rene's. I've had better, I've had worse and honestly it quenched my Sunday morning breakfast craving just fine. read more

The food at Rene's is always excellent. The service is good when we go in. But the girl at the drive thru is VERY rude and will nickel and dime your order. For example, tonight, I asked for some sour cream on my chicken enchiladas. I was charged $1.50 for what amounted to a teaspoon of sour cream! I attached a pic of the receipt, it's listed as xtra. You can also see the amount of sour cream I got for my money. You're supposed to get sauces with your meal, but she also charged me $2.20 for a small cup of pico de gallo. This isn't the first time she's done this. On a previous visit I ordered rice and beans with the chicken enchiladas, the price went from $5.79 to $14.89! Just for rice and beans. There are lots of great Mexican food restaurants, taco trucks, etc in Wichita that are friendly and generous. read more

Love this spot especially for a late night craving always get the carne asada burrito its the best in town! If you're on the west side this is the best thing to get and the service is super quick. Drive thru is maybe 8-10 minutes tops since everything Is made to order. read more

Decided to give the new south location a try but ended very badly. I ordered the Colorado burrito and my wife got the carne asada burrito. Got home and took a bite not too bad first bite but second bite was absolutely disgusting the meat did not taste right. The meat had a green tint to it. I was hungry still and I finished the burrito. 2 hrs later I found myself stuck on the toilet for an hour. I'm not joking I went to bed and woke up with constant bowel movements. Its 6:47 am and I am still hovering over the toilet. DO NOT EAT HERE! UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE STUCK ON A TOILET!!! My daughter and I went through the drive thru today to get some lunch. We ordered our food and drinks. We got to the window and paid, the attendant handed us our bag of food and walked away. Thinking they were going to come back and give us our drinks, I waited. After several minutes they did come back. Then they just glared at me. I nicely said we didn't get our drinks yet. They handed me the first drink, and then the second drink. The second drink was in a styrofoam cup. As it was handed to me, they shoved their thumb nail into the cup!!! The cup was leaking everywhere! Not only was their purposeful sabotage of the cup RUDE, but also a violation of health codes. Don't eat here if you want kind service. Not quality. I eat at these type of restaurants all the time and also travel for my job. Kansas in particular has the tiniest burritos especially for this place. If that's not a problem for you, their meat is so greasy it's like taking a shot of grease in the last couple bites of a burrito. I went through the drive through with my granddaughter. We didn't order anything wild or fancy. My granddaughter ordered two taco with beans and rice and I ordered a burrito with a cheese enchilada and beans and rice. The tacos were over fried to the point the were difficult to eat. And the filling inside was black, like it was old and had sat all day. The filling in my burrito, the meat, was so tough that I could not chew it. And the rest of the filling tasted old. I was so disappointed. I tried to make it taste better with the mild sauce I had received but it tasted so much like vinegar with no other flavor to highlight the food. It was terribly disappointing. Everything was. I was so excited to to spend quality time with my granddaughter enjoying yummy food over great conversation. We had conversation filled with how terribly sad we were that our food was so awful. We had to toss everything but the beans and rice, which were really good.
