Great experience overall! This was the second bridal store I went to, and I went on a sample sale day. I tried on multiple dresses and they did great with picking dresses out for me. I love the dress I ended up with! It has a couple small stains/marks and some loose beads, but it was a sample dress so I really don't have any complaints. Plus my dress was half off! I received SO many compliments on my dress and everyone said it was perfect for me, and many asked where I got it. The breading was beautiful. Service was great. Today was my first time going dress shopping! After searching around, Renee Austin carries the bridal brands that I was interested in so I booked an appointment. Appointment booking was done online, easy and quick. I was able to book for a Sunday appointment one week ahead. Parking: small lot in the back of the shop Ambience: beautiful, clean, classy boutiques. Has 3 cute areas for 3 brides at a time. You can only take 4 people with you at most. Each appointment are blocked with your consultant for 1.5 hr, I felt like this was very sufficient. Mia is my consultant and after hearing it's my first time shopping, she was so patient in pulling so many dresses with different styles for me to try on. She was able to find a style out of the box but so beautiful, I was so close to pulling out my credit card... I didn't end up pulling the trigger just yet... but I really wanted to leave a wonderful review for this place. Brides in GR, you might want to check out this place! When we got there Mia talked to me about what I was looking for and got to know me and my style before she pulled dresses for me to try. Such a great experience working with Eliza from Renee Austin Wedding! I cannot recommend this place enough. The experience was so much fun and I was blown away by the gowns that Eliza chose for me. I gave her a vague idea as to what I was going for and good have easily picked three or four of the dresses as the one. I'm a SUPER petite person (under 5') and she was able to cinch me up in the dresses and truly visualize what they would look like on even though they were sometimes 8+ sizes too big. Renee Austin was the best experience. First, the shop is SO BEAUTIFUL, clean and dresses galore. Secondly, shopping to me can be so stressful and the consultants went above and beyond to make sure I was always happy and comfortable. My girl was so knowledgeable and insightful and really took her time to show me all options. She offered me options to help compliment my figure, and as they weren't 'my' initial choice, I ended up LOVING them! I really like Renee Austin Wedding. I had my bridesmaids get dresses here and were super happy with them (and if they paid in full they got 10% off - but that was just a special at the time). The girl who helped us was so nice and gave suggestions that were helpful and not pushy. Most of my bridesmaids were scattered around the country and they were able to just call in and give their measurements. The dresses came quickly and were perfect. We just came back again and ended up ordering my sister's bridesmaid dresses from here. We had a different girl this time, but she was super helpful as well. She helped with color suggestions and really listened to what my sister was looking for. Its a laid back atmosphere with different options (not a ton, but a good amount). The staff is great and the dresses are not over priced. Make this one of your first stops when looking for bridesmaid dresses (and perhaps wedding dresses - I've never really taken the time to look as both my sister and I had already purchased our dress before coming here). A bride's worst nightmare...I am absolutely disappointed with my very recent experience at Renee Austin in Grand Rapids MI.I actually loved the store and my dress but due to my experience I would have to rethink. What was supposed to be the most important dress of a lifetime turned out to be an absolute nightmare. My dress took 5mths to arrive which is ok but 3mths before my wedding I'm left hanging with a beautiful dress that can never be worn: 1) My dress came ridiculously small and they claimed that because I gained 1 inch around my waist the dress refused to zip. But somehow 3 ladies came to quickly force the zip up so that I can probably leave. The person that assisted on the day of choosing the dress NEVER mentioned that the sample dress was totally worn out hence the perfect fit. Little that I knew, according to a rep at Casablanca they recommended and wrote me up a size that would have never worked to begin with - My measurements on the day- Waist 30.5" but they recommended and ordered a size 10 dress with a waste 28.5". Mind you I'm not the expert here so I agreed also in regular dresses I'm a size 6 so I was thinking I was golden even if its big I can always adjust. It was costing almost $300 to add a corset back to try to make it work. Even the rep at Casablanca was also totally disgusted by the way I was treated at this store 2) They never mentioned that Casablanca hems dresses for free once you send the appropriate length. Now I was being charged almost $150 to hem due to all the lace details at the bottom that had to be removed by hand. 3) My dress came with custom straps that I never asked for that is close to $75-$100 to remove it They knew all my issues and never reached out to help solve apart from agreeing to pay for the removal of the straps. Thanks to the lovely service I'm now left with a $1,100 dress to attempt to sell since I had to go choose another dress at another store seeing that I am running out of time. I would be sure to never recommend this store in the future. And for anyone that does visit be sure to check out the designers size chart yourself and get your size from there (I'm sure different designer gowns fit differently). Be aware of this because the reps Renee Austin wouldn't show these charts they would write you up and then tell you that's what you decided on and won't help solve the problem when you run into any. Thankfully I landed in the right hands that educated me about the way things should have been the first time around and also provided with the size chart and contact information for the Casablanca who now knows about this situation..... so hooray for this bride to be with two wedding dresses! read more

I had such a fun experience dress shopping at Renee Austin. I originally made 3 dress appointments, 2 in Chicago and 1 locally at Renee Austin in Grand Rapids not really knowing what to expect. This was my first stop and I got my dress without even going to the other appointments. Jana was who helped us and she did a great job! She really listened to what I wanted and only pulled dresses in my budget. She let us sort of shop with her which was fun but offered guidance so I didn't get overwhelmed by all of the options. I got to try on about 10 dresses which made me feel like I got the full bridal experience. Jana took pictures and celebrated with us when I finally picked my dress. It felt very special. Before my appointment here I had emailed them to see if they had a dress I had been stalking online. They told me they didn't and kindly informed me that that dress was far over my budget. Instead they gave me 3 really nice recommendations of dresses they carried that were within my budget and were very similar to the dress I was looking at. I didn't realize until after that I actually choose one of there recommended dresses. I thought it was a really personal touch that showed they really wanted me to find a good fit before I had even had my appointment! I cannot say enough good things about Renee Austin. I was super anxious about wedding dress shopping, and I had absolutely no reason to be. I was SO lucky to have gotten Eliza as my stylist. If you are thinking about getting your dress here, call and ask for her to lead your appointment. As the mother of the bride, I can't say enough good things about Renee Austin. My daughters and I stumbled upon the boutique by accident and we stopped in without an appointment the day after Christmas. Jana who I believe is the manager and also a bridal consultant, had another client appointment when we arrived. We didn't expect personal consulting services since we didn't have an appointment but she had Trisha help us so we wouldn't have to be completely on our own. We never would have guessed that Trisha was not a formally trained consultant because she was awesome! She listened to my daughter, was extremely patient and helpful to my daughter as she was trying to decide on color, design and style. Trisha did a great job helping my daughter ultimately decide on the right dress that met all of her criteria including her budget Renee Austin is a boutique that sets itself apart from other bridal salons by providing personalized service, asking the right questions of the bride, and listening very carefully to what the bride wants. This was the first place I went on my dress shopping journey. It was just me and my mom, and the experience was nothing short of perfect. For starters, Eliza is spectacular. If anyone was born to be a bridal consultant, it was her. I truly felt as if she genuinely was invested in me finding the most perfect dress. She took time to listen about my wedding day, my fiancé, and asked for pictures of the venue. Appointments are slated at 90 minutes but I was there for over 2 hours. Not once did I feel rushed or as if Eliza was annoyed by me. She pulled dresses, then afterwards I walked around with her to see if anything else caught my eye. She was kind to my mom and included her in everything. I wanted to buy my dress from Renee Austin just because working with her was so lovely. I was not able to say yes in the moment, and in the next month I emailed her a few times with questions and she was always prompt, helpful, and supportive in her response. Over the next 6 weeks I went to five more bridal stores and had experiences ranging from so so to very subpar. Needless to say, Eliza set the bar high and I'm now very aware that this isn't necessarily the standard everywhere. She's special as is Renee Austin. All this being said, I fell in love with a Martina liana gown elsewhere and my biggest negative about it is that I won't get to work with the team at Renee Austin! I don't know where to start with this review.. I live in Chicago but my family is in Eastern Michigan. When it came time to start dress shopping, I was looking for a place in GR since it's in the middle. I didn't know much about bridal salons in the area so I was going based only on Yelp reviews. I can't stress this enough- My experience and Renee Austin was incredible! This was my first time shopping for a wedding dress and I didn't know what to expect, so I was a little nervous waking in. My group was a little large and my budget was a little low so I was worried that a fancy dress store would be annoyed with that. But the second we walked in, we were welcomed and made to feel comfortable. Jana was our girl, and she could not have been more perfect. When I told her to budget and general info about my wedding/style, she started pulling beautiful dresses right away and encouraged all of my dress shopping companions to do the same. It was so fun and easy trying them on and, although she made sure that each one was perfects and pinned just right, I never felt any pressure or push from her to buy or like anything. She even seemed to be having as much fun as we were! At the end, I was stuck between three dresses and I really wanted a night to sleep on it. Plus I also had another appointment elsewhere (ended up not being nearly as easy and wonderful). This was Saturday and they weren't open on Sunday, but I had to drive back to Chicago Sunday afternoon. Without a second thought, Jana offered to come in on Sunday so I could think it over and make sure I'm getting the perfect dress. I'm so happy I found and went to Renee Austin first. I drove two and a half hours to Grand Rapids to look for a wedding dress and Renee Austin Wedding was my first stop. I didn't have an appointment, but I wasn't expecting a consultant session or anything more than browsing and getting ideas. I was met at the front door by a very sweet consultant, who took me under her wing and led me to the back, peppering me with excited questions about my impending nuptials. This part of my visit was really nice, but it soon took a turn for the uncomfortable. I hadn't had a chance to do more than a few online searches for dresses and really wanted a chance to look around and figure out what I was looking for. The consultant seemed to really mean well, but her execution turned out to be horrible. I was told my budget was only big enough for a bridesmaid dress and that the styles I liked were far too expensive for me. When I mentioned the color champagne, because it always looked pale gold online, I was told to sit tight and she'd be back with dresses for me to try on. The dresses she set up in the dressing room for me to try on were ugly, brown, and several sizes too small. My objections were ignored and I was told to try on the dresses so she could see how they looked on me. I stood in the middle of the dressing room staring at the ugly dresses, extremely uncomfortable and unhappy, listening to the consultant repeatedly ask if I was ready yet and does she need to come in and help? I couldn't wait to leave. I don't know why I didn't leave, but this was my first time in a bridal shop and I wanted it to be productive and possibly positive. In the end, I bit the bullet and tried on one ugly dress after the other, holding up the front and tromping across the room in front of everyone, while the consultant held the back together. She started slipping in wedding dresses, which were much prettier, but still far too small. I was told I'd have to find a suitable sample dress because nothing could be ordered in time for my wedding in four months. I really should've left, I hated every minute. The last dress was only two sizes too small and could be tried on without needing much extra help, which overjoyed me to the point of strongly considering the sample. It was far from my personal style, but I was so happy to be mostly clothed in a wedding dress that I took a picture and sent it on to interested parties for feedback. As soon as I left the dress shop and breathed the fresh air, I felt slightly traumatized from feeling so helpless in a situation that meant a lot to me. My concerns and opinions were completely ignored by someone who appeared to care, but, in the end, was more than happy to send me on my way without a dress or follow up. I know I didn't have an appointment, but it would've been far better to have been able to just look around than the ridiculously horrible experience I was put through. read more

Beware of all of their extra fees, charges, rushes, etc. they seem to try and squeeze as many pennies out of their customers as possible. Brides, Be kind to your bridesmaids... choose your dress from a regular store, where they can try on their right size, pick it up or have it shipped directly to them, not be locked into an order they don't know is going to fit for sure, take it back if needed, and not be charged for ridiculous and unnecessary shipping charges, Rush fees, etc. not recommended. read more

Renee Austin was great! I recommend them to EVERYONE. I came in looking for bridesmaids dresses with five of my seven ladies in tow, and they didn't miss a beat. Despite being incredibly busy, they helped us and paid attention to us. My consultant treated us with respect and was even excited about my wedding, which was a nice change of pace from many of the shops that are so used to brides that weddings don't seem special for them. I would not recommend this bridal shop. I purchased my daughter's dress from here. We have gone to 2 places to have alterations done, but neither place is willing to do the alterations. They said this dress should not have been sold to my daughter. We then contacted the seamstress recommended by Renee Austin and she stated the entire top will require her to "remake it". When I told the manager, Emily, at Renee Austin, this information, she said that can't be what she meant. I didn't pay $2100 for a dress to have this huge problem! Given that we also bought 10 bridesmaid dresses from this wedding shop, I would think they would be willing to do something to assist us. Their only assistance is to help us order another dress for my daughter, which will now require a rush fee. Thanks, so thoughtful. I felt like we were pressured into buying this dress. The saleswoman had the contract filled out before we even had a chance to completely think it through. Also, since the seamstresses feel this dress will be very difficult to alter to my daughter's figure, the saleswoman should have known too. Instead, she said, this will fit perfectly! Wonderful!!! My daughter and I actually visited the Renee Austin Prom shop ... and we are so glad we did! I was worried a specialty shop would be too pricy and a very intimidatingly formal shopping experience (kind of like bridal shopping - needing an appointment with a consultant, etc.). However, we were greeted graciously and invited in - no appointment necessary (NOTE: this is for the PROM shop, not the wedding shop.) The two women on staff were really friendly, down to earth and fun. (I think the one who was helping us most was named Mia, based on other reviews, here - I wish I could remember for sure because she was GREAT!) They said there was no problem working with our budget (even offering discounts where they could), and helped my daughter find some beautiful dresses to try. Went to Renee Austin recently with my roommate and the rest of her bridal party. The stylist, Eliza, was extremely kind and helpful, listened to my roommates concerns and desires and only pulled dresses in budget that would arrive in time for her ceremony (on June 9). She asked insightful questions to help my roommate narrow down her top choices and eloquently paired accessories with each gown so that she could more easily picture herself on her wedding day. She was very knowledgeable about the product line and even went out of her way to make sure that the dress my roommate eventually chose would come in in time to be altered and ready for the big day. She listened to the opinions of the entire bridal party but made sure that nobody spoke over my roommate or stifled what she wanted. The dresses are a little pricey, but worth it for the quality. The only thing I would suggest is, if you're coming in for a bridal appointment, bring undergarments with you (strapless bra/slip) unless you're comfortable trying the dresses on without much underneath.
