But I can't excuse being billed for work (replacing the battery, $400) that was simply never done. I know because I installed the existing battery myself less than a year ago. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE... I was impressed upon walking into the shop, clean professional shop, greeted by helpful mechanics, and receptionist. Car delivered on time as promised . The shop is well out of the way for me, so, drop off / pick up has its challenges. Storage space is tight, this I understand. However the pressure to get the car out of the lot, I PAID Rennwerke to deliver the car BTW.. I had to drive the delivery person back. This is acceptable. That's not the case at the Porsche dealership. Some of the repairs were made, the easy ones, other items on the list were just passed over. Hence the NEW battery purchased at the shop was dead in 6 weeks. Called (2x) ask about replacement, "I'll have Cheech call you" BOTH times... No return call Was asked by the receptionist... "did you drive the car?"I had driven the car 4 times , started twice in 6 weeks. ! The gist of the conversation was 'too bad' A NEW battery goes dead in 6 weeks ? Why, because the draw from the radio was never fixed. This should be my problem? Hence the car is now at the Porsche dealer to repeat the same work that was already paid for, including the probability of needing to purchase another new battery. Honestly, I do not like to give negative opinions on a shop, but these guys have demonstrated that they cannot even mount and balance a tire properly without damaging a wheel. After inspecting my wheels more closely, i found that all 4 of my mint condition wheels were scuffed around the edges, the paint chipped all along the rim edge. I would stay away from this place to be honest. Thanks again for ruining all of my wheels. read more

The worst shop ever I dropped my car off after months he kept telling me it's almost ready!!! I went to go look at it after months of waiting with my son and it was thrown in a back corner outside next to his junk parts cars covered, when my son uncovered it we noticed that it was crashed in the front, he didn't tell me he crashed it until after I saw the car !!!! After waiting months, I just wanted my car back, I got it back more broken then when I dropped it off, the hood doesn't close probably, my radio doesn't work, my gas tank cover doesn't close because they must of put in the fuel tank or neck wrong and carburetor links fall off when I give the car gas , he also "cheech " was waiting on hood molding for the car and gave me the runaround that he ordered them but lost them and was going to order them again but never called to say he got them. Not a mans man he's a crook I don't know how people trust this guy read more

Awesome place! When I bought my 1981 911SC from a friend I was told to bring it to Cheech for service. He had serviced the car since the previous guy had it. I put the car in his hands and he took great care of it for years. Their knowledge of Porsche's is amazing. So when I picked up a 2005 Mercedes CLK, I brought it to Cheech, and was amazed again at how well he knew the car and was able to figure out what it needed. Been going to the dealer for years but as my car gets older it is not a model they work on every day. Been aware of Rennwerke for some years and decided to give them a try when my ABS light came on intermittently. I could not be more impressed. They stayed late getting to the bottom of this persistent fault as I waited. They figured out it happened when the wheel was turned and tracked it down to a wire going to one of the ABS sensors. They then cut that wire and housing out and used part of an old loom they had to replace it. I cannot thank them enough for the expertise and persistent to find the fault. I am now a customer for life. I also counted three Porsche's of my model in the shop at the same time as there were models from later and earlier years. It was like pulling teeth trying to get them to perform a pre purchase inspection on time. Constant False promises of it getting done. And lies about what was actually going to be done- for example a compression test. Come to find out they didn't do one, Even though the man I spoke to said it is included. overall I received a few Blurry photos, and a check sheet for $350.00. I relied on reviews and expected a thorough and impressive inspection presentation at the least, Please Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for an inspection. read more

Cheech and Gasper are really excellent at what they do but I fear they are making too many commitments and for the every day Porsche driver; it makes it very inconvenient when you have to return numerous times for a single service. Cheech is absolutely the best!! He cared for several Porsches for us over the years as if they were his own!! But, it was his personal care and concern when I had a blowout on the West Side Highway that really showed us what an incredible man he is. I must have sounded shaken up on the call. And, in what seemed like seconds after he said he would call me right back, there he was, racing down the highway to rescue me... NYC only allows certain companies to tow/flatbed on their highways - Cheech didn't want my 997TTCab to be left in the hands of someone we did not know. So much to my surprise and relief, he took one of his mechanics and everything else they needed in his own car to bring my car back to his shop. I discovered Rennwerke on the usual P-car forums. As they were close to where I live I decided to visit. The place is a Mecca to Porsche cars - I would say for the most part for the air-cooled generations, but I saw a few water pumpers there too. I put my '97 993 C2S in the hands of Cheech and his mechanics, and have never felt that my car was in more trusted hands. Let's start with Cheech and his welcoming nature. Don't go to Cheech if you're in a huge hurry. Cheech likes to know his customers, and understand in who's hands this great car is. When you leave your car with Rennwerke you're leaving it with the experts so also don't try to tell them their business. I say these things only since thanks to the internet these days people think they're better informed than the experts. I also say that as I was one of them. Give them your trust and you will be rewarded. A home mechanic myself, I did as much of my own service work as I could but I went to Cheech with larger service items I couldn't or didn't want to do myself. They took my car, did all of these, and reported back to me on the outcome and the general condition of my car. I have gone back a few times and Cheech is always welcoming and eager to discuss. I have seen on occasion other enthusiasts stopping over just to converse or hang out. The biggest impression was when I recently saw several California plated 356's hanging around for service. Caspar mentioned that they were shipped over for service, not for a lack of well established service shops over there on the west coast! It reminded me of when I visited the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart and the dealer nearby had several US plated Carerra GT's lingering around that had been shipped over for factory service. Enough said. I've used Rennwerke Porsche and Cheech 5 times already since I bought my Porsche Carrera. I refuse to have anyone touch my car but Rennwerke Porsche. Yesterday, (Sunday) I saw coolant on the garage floor behind my car. I was at Rennwerke today at 7AM sharp with no appointment due to this emergency. Cheech had tons of cars lined up, customers and appointments. Cheech saw how concerned I was about my car trouble, and he is aware of my work situation since I own my own business and I am always under stress with work. Cheech took my car right in on the lift. My vehichle was fixed properly and fairly while I waited. Cheech could have easily, told me anything or charged me for whatever he wanted, or billed me for parts I did not need, but he was fair and honest. Thank you Cheech and Rennwerke Porsche. We both know you're a thief who tried to get away with overcharging me $4000......Had the car looked over by two different Porsche dealers and was told the partial rebuild you did was very poor quality and never the less put back wrong hence the issues I was having due to the lack of your inexperience. $14,000 for 4 used pistons, rings and sleeve one cylinder I think that's outrageous so did the dealer. You claim you honor all work done for a year yet you had my car sitting there over a month without even touching it to try to fix the mess you made. The end result is you disrespected me nor did you fix the mess you started. One thing I can assure you is every dog has his day!!!! read more
