I'm sure half of my friends are going to slap me because of this review but it has to be said. Like Holly, I mostly end up here because of Coco Renos or because EJ's closed early. Yes, it is one of the oldest bars in Long Beach. So, is that a reason to go here? No. If you want old Long Beach, go to Joe Josts. You can't get a cocktail, but you will get some history. Reno Room is just ok in my book. It's hit or miss with the crowd. Most of the bartenders are somewhat slow to help a girl (and I tip good, so this always upsets me) and I get harassed by guys here more than any bar I've ever been to. Repeatedly. Yes, they have a great jukebox. I will happily give them that. Joy Division, Queen, some random hip hop. Good stuff. You can also order Coco Renos in the bar, which is nice if you want some great Mexican food. Drink prices are standard for Long Beach and they do have a full bar. Another thing, 9 out of 10 times the bathroom smells like crap and is in need of a new toilet. Like lots of bars in Long Beach, with one stall, it's no fun having to breathe through your mouth while you're trying to pee. Aiight? May I also note that this is the bar where a certain group of friends of mine will take first dates because they know that no one they know will step foot in here and disturb the date. read more

local dive bar for the locals. the place is unassuming and does not really try to distinguish itself from the plethora of dive bars in the area with a theme or ambiance. not that it needs to which again is what makes this establishment purely for the local folk. the place serves food as well. prices are a little high on the moderate scale and the food leaves much to be desired depending on what you order. the food on menu ranges from quasi mexican to all american with a few pasta dishes thrown in for good measure. there are pool tables and plenty of seating areas and there are waitresses walking around to get your order. there is also a jukebox with plenty of musical choices. all in all the embodiment of what a dive bar should be. read more

I started coming here because I thought it had something to do with Reno Nevada or the show Reno 911. Little did I know, this was going to spark an ongoing love affair between myself and this establishment. The Cancun salad really is all that and a bag of chips. I also love coming in on Sunday nights where it's a little bit more laid back. The Sunday night bartender is fantastic. She even remembers my drink, and I'm not sure if that wink she gives me is something more, so that's another reason I keep coming back. This place has so much potential. I really do like the Reno Room & since it's right down the street from our house, we've stopped in a few times. It is a Long Beach institution, so I get that it's a dive bar, but the whole place is sticky. It gets too rowdy on the weekends. The food is okay. I think if they cleaned the place & made higher quality food I would be here every weekend. read more

I've gotten food to go here a couple times. What I ordered was pretty good American-Mexican food, except the salsa was too spicy.

I've lived near Reno Room for years (and for a while worked at a place not too far away) but never once went there. Yesterday, I decided to go in and check it out. I do not regret doing so. The bartender was super friendly, the margarita I ordered was delicious, and I was able to befriend some people next to me. I also ordered some flautas from next door, which were also good. The bartenders tonight were extremely rude and were all having a bad day or something they looked annoyed and kept rolling their eyes at customers. Classic Dive Bar in Long Beach that opens every day at 6am. Laura is my favorite bartender here, working the essential 6am-12pm shift Thursday through Sunday. Beside her wonderfulness a few things to note: CaLottery - Playing a little Hot Spot and watching the screens while you hang out is cool. Has TouchTunes jukebox. 9 big screens Most seating is at the horseshoe shaped bar but there are 5 booths as well and an space with 2 pool tables (75 cents a game) The other half of the bar is known as "Coco Reno's" and has it's own Yelp page. It's run as a seperate business which means you get better food then most dives but you will get a seperate server and a seperate bill from them. You can carry your drinks from the bar to the Coco Reno's side if you want to eat at there instead of the bar. Small parking lot behind the building. Taco Tuesday 11am to 11 pm: $1.50 Tacos, $3 Modelo Draft and $3 margaritas. Happy Hour is 6am through 11am and 3pm through 7pm Monday through Friday. $3 well and domestic bottles with a $2 "super happy hour" from 4pm to 5pm. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas are $3.50 Saturday and Sunday 6am to Noon. read more

The 7 or 8 old geezers wasting away at the bar must have never seen girls before. I will never bring girls there again. I walked in with 2 girls, and the whole place went silent, the sad lonesome faces staring in shock at the girls. Perhaps they forgot what girls look like. After a few minutes, people began to mutter and the music started back up. They have that remote control trivia game there, which I think is mildly fun sometimes, because I usually win. So I asked the guy next to me, "Playing trivia, huh?" He gave me a mean look, emphatically and loudly exclaimed "NO!". Then he went back to playing his trivia game. So we got some nachos, that come from the place next door, they were old, soggy, and kind of smelly. I think there were greasy smudges on our drink glasses. Overall, super classy! read more

Maybe we did it all wrong, and should've ended the night at the Reno Room instead of starting it there. We went there to play pool, but could barely stomach the very strong fried tortilla smell hanging thick in that place. I really want to like the Reno Room. They have a decent jukebox, and the bar side is totally cool, and the bartender was AWESOME, but if you want to play pool you're gonna end up smelling like you worked in a kitchen all night. This review for the Mexican restaurant part not the Bar. Bar staff was great. Stopped in this morning for breakfast and drinks. When ordering food I asked about what was on the huevos rancheros. She told me a list of things but never said guacamole and sour cream. Food showed up and there was guacamole and sour cream on it. I am allergic to avacdo and when I told her she that she she got a bunch of attitude. She had another plate made but it was not good at all and I could not eat it all. I only ate what I did cause I was really hungry. The pizza slice I got from 7-11 after was a lot better. read more

When I moved from home in Florida a few years ago to Long Beach, this was one of the very first places I tried, so it'll always hold a special place in my stomach. I've since moved away, but having recently visited, this was at the top of the list to come back to. It's just as delicious as I remember! When passing this place on the street, don't be fooled by the modest exterior, because what's on the inside is some top-notch, kick-ass Mexican food, freshly made and right in front of you. The chips and salsa they serve is some of the spiciest I've ever had and literally anything you order on their menu is superb. A side note of my adoration is the fact that they also serve the, "ground beef," as a meat option, which seems to be hard to find in the Southern California area, which is important for a Tex Mex guy like myself. Now I've just talked about the food thus far, but I would be derelict if I didn't mention the Margaritas that come straight from the bar next door that are strong as ###...makes for a real winner. If you're in the LBC, make Reno Room your first stop for Mexican food. Honestly, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. read more

this establishment/ bar is perfect. literally perfect. i have come here twice now and both times i have had an almost transcendent experience; with the marg(s) especially. they are so affordable, so excellently blended (velvety), and garnished with most adorable maresheeno cherry. the tofu burrito is at the top of my *must try* list, but i'm here actually rigjt now and waiting for my "coco enchiladas"-- beside myself, and everyone who works here is a really kind angel. if they had merch i'd wear it loud & proud. read more

Great place to go for cheap tacos AND a dive bar is attached to it. Good vegetarian selection. Tofu tacos are kinda crispy. Great chips and salsa. The rice is some of my favorite. Super soft and good flavor. Margaritas are good. Word of warning: If you sit in the restaurant be prepared to smell like greasy chips and tacos. From your clothes to your hair. It's a small place with an open kitchen so you will leave smelly. Sit in the bar if you want to avoid this because they will serve you there. All in all, I definitely recommend. read more

I came here with a friend on a thursday night. It was a little crowded but we were able to get a seat near the pool tables. They had beers on tap and in bottles, pretty much a full bar. I was excited to see they had blue moon on tap. I ordered a pint of blue moon and my friend had a bud light bottle. It came out to $8 I believe which isn't too bad. They had pool for 50 cents a game. They also served food there which I thought was cool. We had a quesadilla and it was yummy. I would definitely go back since it is a pretty chill bar. Only downfall is trying to find parking but fortunately for us, we found parking right across the street. read more

Love love love this bar! Great staff, cheap, stiff drinks, attached mexican restaurant that serves the bar delicious food, good crowd....and the best part is the magical jukebox. Not because it's an internet jukebox, those are everywhere, but it *always* seems to be playing tolerable to good music...and I'm a snob! I've never been somewhere that I never want to plug my ears! Can I give no stars? This place is the most awful bar to come to. I've tried three times because my cousin lives so close and it's a close walk, but these girls are terrible at their jobs. It's a bunch of cosmetology drop outs hanging out pretending they know how to have a real job. Good luck girls. Reno Room is a pretty chill spot with an awesome juke box. The bartenders that I've met so far have been really awesome. The crowd can get a little clique-y on certain nights....the whole college crowd can sometimes take over the place. The hours are insane (6a-2a) but I guess that makes it convenient for people who fancy a nice drink for breakfast. Overall, I don't frequent it too much, but I'll find myself there on occasions. read more

The Reno Room reminds me of the honey badger: it doesn't give a shit. The manager doesn't care about things like codes and rules or keeping the bathrooms clean and stocked. "Just use your hand," you might picture him saying. This is a shitty dive bar, but that is just part of its charm. It is like the degenerate cousin of the V Room with a hair lip who smells faintly of pee. It's a party Chex mix of a crowd, with everything from career bar flies to old school Long Beach workers to CSULB students, but oddly there are rarely any fights. The jukebox plays anything from X to LMFAO. You just never know. It is a good place to meet someone to swap war stories, cry in your beer, or catch up with old friends. In fact, if you hang out long enough there is a good chance that someone you know will roll right in. They might roll back out just the same. read more

Reno room is the definition of what a local bar should be. Awesome bartenders, good crowd, pool tables, and a mexican bar attached to the other side of it (which i will be reviewing soon) my personal favorite bartender Sidney remembers your name and regular drinks which always makes people feel at home. Its also in a nice area so walking home after last call is never a problem. If u are looking for a bar thats not a trendy spot like 2nd st, then reno room is a must. read more

It's a legend, but they smartly don't hype that up. It's a dark bar, nothing fancy, great location, incredible sign out front. Not too crowded usually, a mellow vibe. I really like it but I don't go as often as I would because it's attached to a take-out restaurant and it smells and feels like you're in a deep-fryer when you go here, which really undercuts a lot of the good things here. read more

Reno room is definitely a dive bar, but I love it! Every time I have come here it's been a good time. It's a chill place with drinks that are not overpriced and STRONG..like whoa! You better have a couple drinks at home before coming here to warm you up, cuz these drinks are stiff as a mutha! It's great though, you get drunk pretty quickly and just have a blast with your friends. My friend ordered me a "French martini" and it was soo delicious. I had never heard of one before, but it's my new drink. It tastes like cherry candy...mmm. So yeah, come to Reno Room to get your drink on and ask for a French martini! read more
