I reserved a table for 12 people more than a week in advance for a special celebration. Before the reservation, I spoke directly with Miguel, also known as Mickey, who assured me that he had made notes in the system regarding our party size and that everything would be prepared for our arrival. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our table was not ready and the restaurant was not prepared to accommodate our party of 12. When I addressed the situation with the manager, she was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were told that the tables could not be moved because they were essentially fixed in place. This was especially frustrating because I had specifically made the reservation in advance and had spoken with Mickey beforehand about accommodating our group. Eventually, the restaurant added high-top tables to create one large space for our party and she said this is all you are going to get. We proceeded with our celebration and spent over $600, including bottle service and food. Even the bottle service presentation was disappointing. When our bottle was brought out, it was simply placed on the table as if we had ordered a regular drink. For a celebration and bottle service experience, we expected the bottle to be presented properly, with a sign and flashing lights that were supposed to accompany the bottle service. None of that happened. The manager continued to ask us of we were ready for our check when we clearly still had alcohol left in our bottle. We eventually left to check out another bar but returned shortly afterward for the club portion of the evening. When we returned, the manager appeared visibly unhappy that we were back. I requested to speak with Mickey because I wanted to address what had happened and hopefully resolve the situation. Unfortunately, Mickey was extremely rude and dismissive. He repeatedly talked over me and would not allow me to properly explain my concerns. Instead of taking accountability, he insisted that he had explained the table situation to me beforehand. That conversation never happened. Had I been told that the restaurant could not properly accommodate a party of 12, I would never have made the reservation there in the first place. What made the experience even more disappointing was that our party appeared to be the only customers in the restaurant at the time. There were literally no other guests inside, which made it even harder to understand why a reservation that had been made a week in advance and could not be properly accommodated. After being repeatedly talked over and dismissed, I decided to walk away from the conversation. At that point, Mickey began yelling, "She's out of here, get her out of here," Then the situation escalated further. When my best friend came to the entrance looking for me, Mickey began yelling at her and, pushed her in the stomach telling her to get out the way, before kicking members from our party out of the club. This was completely unacceptable and turned what was supposed to be a celebration into an extremely upsetting experience. I have never been treated this way by a business after spending my hard-earned money there. The lack of communication, the failure to honor the expectations established when the reservation was made, the disappointing bottle service presentation, the refusal to take accountability, and the way management handled the confrontation were all incredibly disappointing. We went there to celebrate, and instead the entire celebration was ruined. I would never return to this establishment, and based on my experience, I would not recommend it to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or spend their money there. Management needs to seriously reconsider how customers are treated, particularly customers who make reservations in advance and spend significant amounts of money at their establishment. read more

(4/5) Stopped by Agaves Kitchen & Tequila on Pine Avenue in Long Beach during the FIFA World Cup watch party, and it ended up being a really fun experience. We didn't originally plan on coming, but Pine was shut down for the festivities and the atmosphere was great. Lots of fans, big screens, and a fun energy throughout the game. Because of the event they were running a limited menu, which was completely understandable given how busy everything was. I ordered the burrito without rice and really enjoyed it. The green sauce and cheese on top were delicious, and the fries were perfectly crispy. We also shared the ceviche, which was fresh and flavorful, and the house chips that came with it were surprisingly one of my favorite parts. The margaritas were solid and hit the spot while watching the match. Service held up well considering the crowd, and overall it was a cool place to spend the afternoon. Went here for race day on Saturday April 18th. We wanted to take a break from the Grand Prix Indy car racing. Found this place on pine. As soon as we entered the front entrance we got carded by the Bouncer. Now my mind was saying, its 1:30pm and your carding people just to come in and eat? There are plenty of other restaurants and bars on pine that serves alcohol and that you are able to bring children with you to eat. I was observing on people coming in and the bouncer is asked for ID on some folks that look like they were 80 years old. It comes to my attention that this place doesn't use any common sense at all. One is to ask, what makes this restaurant so special to ID folks that look like they are 80 to 90 years old? Dissappointed We ordered 2 breakfast burritos and 1 soda. Burrito was small for being $20. Overpriced and food was just eh. 2nd they got our order wrong. We asked for 1 chicken and 1 carne asada. We recieved 2 asadas. We asked for a coke refill and our server forgot to fill up our cup. We had to ask her twice. Additional to that, the coke was flat. She was playing waitress and bartender. Who does that on Race day out of all events taking place in LB. Staffing was not in their right senses. So our service was not that good. She was all over the place. Coming in every 20 mins of my total stay of 1.5hrs Bathrooms could use alot of help. No napkins to wipe your hands. Did not feel clean at all. Dissapointed. Lastly I had a plastic cup with coke in hand and I was about to walk out. The bouncer stated you cant take your drink outside and I replied that it is only coke. The rule is stated, nothing comes out. Again, what makes this place so special, asking myself? The patio had a DJ playing music, which actually set a fun vibe, though it was pretty loud and made conversation a little challenging at times. After a bit, our waitress came by to take drink orders. I ordered a Diet Coke and asked for chips and salsa -- she clarified it would be an order (so I assume they're not complimentary), which was totally fine. The restaurant was clearly busy, and it looked like there was only one waitress and one bartender working, so service felt stretched thin. After taking our drink and appetizer orders, she came back for meals. There were about eight of us, and surprisingly our main dishes arrived before the cocktails and appetizers. I ended up canceling my chips and salsa because my meal came out first -- and anyone who knows me knows I like to fill up on chips before diving into my entrée! That said, the food itself was delicious. I ordered chilaquiles (my go-to brunch order), and they easily made my personal top-10 list -- really flavorful and satisfying. Unfortunately, my Diet Coke was flat, and when I mentioned it, I was told their sodas were flat, which was a little disappointing. Came here for the first time just to hang out. The space is pretty small but it wasn't packed on a Saturday. It is free seating. Our server, Tony was really nice and friendly. We tried the agua chile and chile relleno. Both were good and I see myself ordering those again. Too bad they close early, at 10pm. They have a night club beside it which opens at 10pm. It's in downtown LB so parking is always challenging. We parked at the paid public parking just 1 block away. $5.55 for 2 hours. You can extend your parking on your phone. The bartender, Yatzyl, was incredibly unprofessional--dancing behind the bar and ignoring patrons for over 30 minutes while prioritizing specific people over others. To make matters worse, after paying a cover charge to get in, I was forced to pay an automatic "service fee" (tip) for someone who provided no service at all. I came here twice to watch the World Cup. The first time was for the Mexico vs. Ecuador game. I had a good time overall. There was no entrance fee or charge for a table, which was nice. However, they significantly marked up the prices on beers. I also ended up getting charged twice. I called multiple times but never got an answer. Thankfully, the duplicate charge was eventually refunded, so I appreciate that they made it right. The second time was for the Mexico vs. England game, and the experience was much worse. They charged a $20 cover just to get in, but once inside they told us that every table was already reserved and that we'd have to move by a certain time. They never mentioned this before charging us at the door. If all the tables are reserved, customers should be told before paying to enter. I managed to find a table, but a staff member later told us we had to give it up because it had been reserved by someone else. I understand reserving certain sections, but it seemed like every single table was reserved, which made the whole experience frustrating. One of the waiters was very friendly and helpful, so I want to give her credit. Unfortunately, the overall organization was poor. Between the cover charge, the inflated drink prices, and the lack of communication about seating, this is not a place I'd recommend for watching a big sporting event.
