Really cute and festive
Crystal G.

When my friends from the valley & San Francisco get together, who knows how the night's gonna go. These are our tech friends so if they want drinks, drink, we will have! Well they'll have drinks. I'll just watch. This is one of those bars that decorates with dollar bills we definitely added two dollar bills with our names on them. Here's my pet peeve with bars. There's no worse smell than Fabulosa and throw up. That's exactly what this place smells like I mean it's bound to happen. I just wish they would clean with something else.

Cheers!

No food, so no worries there! But come for the chill ambience and a great LBC dive bar vibe! Don't miss this spot if you're a local or just visiting Belmont Shore! If you're a first timer you have to shoot the root! Kristen and Gina are rockstar bartenders but everyone on the staff is killer! Street metered parking, or you can take the Circuit here and cruise around town! Also-it's super cute and decked out for the holidays currently! Great dot to watch some sports!

Patron Shots

Small dive bar in Belmont Shore. This place has been around for over 20 plus years. Been here a few times and service is quick. We had Patron shots and glass of Snake Bite. Good prices on drinks with friendly vibes all around. There's pool tables in the back of bar for your enjoyment. We will definitely be returning!

Went here for some drinks and to play some pool. Ordered my drinks from the bartender, asked for some change and played started to play some side pocket pool. We did not come in peak time, arrived here a little after 1pm. Place was not crowded at all. Cool place to hang out. Good chill vibe. Our bartender, she was very nice. Made my wife and I feel welcomed. Only 4 stars since I did not purchase any food. I would come again.

Shoot the Brew

Gina is the best! She makes an amazing "Shoot the Brew" which is cold brew, Jameson, and Guinness! So delicious! I love coming during the day because it's a chill vibe and the bartenders are so sweet and welcoming. This is a small dive bar so don't expect anything fancy. It's the most chill spot on 2nd.

Shoot the root!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: A generic dive bar mostly notable for its longevity. Back in my early 20s I used to frequent this place a lot more, and sometime in the early 90s I had my first Shoot the Root, their signature drink--a shot of root beer liqueur suspended in a lowball of Coors light. My husband and I'd ducked in here for a drink on our first date 8 years ago, after dinner at BRIX across the street (RIP), and we decided to revisit on our anniversary on a whim for old time's sake. It was a pretty quiet early weeknight--there were just a few people at the bar and at the pool table in the back. Of course I had to get a Shoot the Root (same as ever, like this bar). The hubby got a Space Dust IPA on draft. We sipped our drinks and reminisced about that first date, which was pretty epic. Our bartender was cool and the drinks were pretty cheap, but aside from nostalgia there isn't much here to compel us to return anytime soon. There are plenty more bars of this ilk much closer to us that don't involve driving. Maybe we'll be back in another 8 years.

Best Bartender, Baby

Impressed by this Long Beach sports pub…read more I visited recently with a group of friends to grab some lunch and watch a hockey game. Firkin Pub has the perfect set up for this combo. This spot is great for small groups, and has visibility to several TVs scattered across the bar. We ordered a variety of apps, including the spinach and artichoke dip and the fried pickles. Both are musts. I also grabbed the Fungi burger with a turkey patty. This burger was layered with mushrooms, blue cheese, and a thick thick patty. Absolutely delicious and easily enough food for two people. This entree also comes paired with shoe string fries, which should not be overlooked.

The British-themed decor is cozy and charming, giving the place a unique pub feel. My boyfriend and I opted for some brews alongside our meals. He ordered the BBQ burger, and I had the fried cod and chips. The fish had a nice panko-crusted breading, and the steak fries were a great touch. I also really enjoyed their tartar sauce! As for the service, I have no complaints. The gentleman who took care of us that evening was hospitable, attentive, and pleasant throughout our visit. The speed of service was also right on par with what you'd expect. All in all, The Firkin is definitely a unique spot that I'd recommend checking out in Long Beach, at least for a one time experience. Support your local businesses!

It was a hot one, but they had the AC running inside and that made drinking the green beer so enjoyable. The bartenders Evan and Britney were very nice and looked after me and everyone else I came up to the bar for beers, always asking if they wanted their beer green. Their food selection on that day was tremendously great. I had the corned beef on wheat bread and it was toast, toasted wheat bread to boot. With a cheese, and everything else that came with it, I was happily pleased with it all. Especially the carrot that tasted like pickled because it was laying on one. I will never forget that taste that I enjoyed so much on that day. The prices for beer are actually impressively cheap. I really have no complaints on this place and I think that what they do to get people's names on the wall for drinking 70 different beers from all around the world is really cool. I might have to try it one day. Thanks to all the people at Murphy's for putting on a great St. Patrick's Day for this fan. Oh, and by the way, they make such good popcorn. I used to have it at a different bar as a kid and then brought me back to those days.

I look forward to spending a longer night or day drinking there and having a good time.

The staff is friendly if a little slow on the service side. Our server was doing multiple jobs on a busy evening , serving and bar tending so each suffered a bit. There were 4 of us. We shared the guac and chips (the chips were the colors of the Irish flag), really good and recommend. I had the corned beef sliders, and one family member had the full corned beef and cabbage plate. We both agree the corned beef was exceptional, but the horseradish sauce was so mild you couldn't taste the horseradish at all (and with the slow service we had no opportunity to ask for straight horseradish to enhance it) Two went with fish, one the fish and chips, one the grilled Mahi with mango salsa. Both throughly enjoyed their meals. The biggest disappointment of the evening was the bread pudding. My brother LOVES bread pudding, if it's on the menu, he is ordering it. This one was terrible. Very dry, and if there was the whiskey glaze on it, he couldn't find it. It was so bad he didn't eat it, and the server didn't offer to take it off the bill either. If you are driving, the parking is paid, but most restaurants will validate so your fee is lowered.
