And didn't like the tip amount he received. And made a comment about it & refused to serve. If you don't make enough to pay rent, pour concrete like a man. Place has always suck. The people they hire suck. They drink on the job. They also allow too many people into this facility. More bodies than there needs to be in there. read more

Small dive bar in Belmont Shore. This place has been around for over 20 plus years. Been here a few times and service is quick. We had Patron shots and glass of Snake Bite. I usually come here but never have seen this bartender. If I could give Kristen ZERO stars I would. From the second my friend and I got here Kristen had an attitude with us. We each ordered a beer and the tab was $12 and because I'm in the service industry I believe leaving cash tips are better. So I wrote 0 on the tab and put $3 cash on the bar even though she was rude. She looked at it and said "really? that's f-ing it?" and left the cash on the bar. So we took the cash back. I then ask the bar back what her name was and he told me. She then directly comes up to me and says "what did you say to him" and I told her "we asked for your name" and she goes "my name is Kristen what is your name?" My friend and I both replied. She proceeded to talk negatively about me and my friend out loud so we could hear it to other patrons in the bar and her coworkers as well and kept giving us dirty looks as if we were the ones with the problem. I've never dealt with a bartender so incredibly mean. She just sucks and if she is ever working while I'm there again I think I will just walk out and spend my money elsewhere. I don't know what we did to deserve her hatred but my friend and I felt it the entire time and she made the experience awful. read more

Ive been here a couple of times with friends. Cocktails are made good here. The beer selection, while not that much is still good. The bar seating area stretches from the front of the bar all the way into the back. There is a pool table in the back if want to do a game. People will refer to this as a dive bar and most will understand why they are slow on service even if it comes to expected cleanliness for something as simple as a clean toilet and this is concerning. The crowd seems to have went south over the last few years and the one bright spot might for this single shingle might be the lone billiard table that's seen better days I'm sure. Service is so slow it's aggravating, management can be as snobbish as it is arrogant so prepare yourself for that. Parking is spotty at best and absolutely nothing is available on the grill which is surprising because that might have earned them at least half of a blemished star. There is something missing here and that's enough to want to keep on passing this place up as a choice Leave it to the locals who drink enough not to care about the wane in business, the proud confidence of being clean and offering service with a smile instead of a smirk and a battitude. Change is good but clearly this bar needs a lesson in gratitude without the attitude which just might lift it above and beyond the happy blissful mediocrity that they happily bath in these days. read more

I like to come by and chill by the pool table just watching and enjoying myself. I've always had a great time at Shannons. STEPH JUDGEMENT: A generic dive bar mostly notable for its longevity. Back in my early 20s I used to frequent this place a lot more, and sometime in the early 90s I had my first Shoot the Root, their signature drink--a shot of root beer liqueur suspended in a lowball of Coors light. My husband and I'd ducked in here for a drink on our first date 8 years ago, after dinner at BRIX across the street (RIP), and we decided to revisit on our anniversary on a whim for old time's sake. It was a pretty quiet early weeknight--there were just a few people at the bar and at the pool table in the back. Of course I had to get a Shoot the Root (same as ever, like this bar). The hubby got a Space Dust IPA on draft. We sipped our drinks and reminisced about that first date, which was pretty epic. Our bartender was cool and the drinks were pretty cheap, but aside from nostalgia there isn't much here to compel us to return anytime soon. There are plenty more bars of this ilk much closer to us that don't involve driving. Maybe we'll be back in another 8 years. read more

I used to love Shannon's when I lived in Long Beach. It was one of my favorite dive bars and always packed. When my husband and I were in the area a few weeks ago, I had to bring him to Shannon's. He can't resist a Jameson on the rocks in a dark bar, so he was all for it. It wasn't as busy as I remembered, which was a good thing, so we were were able to find a spot at the bar. The bartender came by a few minutes after we sat down and our drinks were in front of us in no time. She was very friendly and attentive. I was kinda surprised by so many negative comments--it's a dive bar people, let's keep the expectations low. It's in a great location, decent prices and a good selection of booze. Parking can always be a bit of a challenge in the area, so if you're nearby I'd suggest taking an Uber. If you're in the mood for a night out in the area, make Shannon's one of your stops on the crawl. Cheers! read more

On a busy night, you can always tell when she is working, because people will literally crowd around her bar well. Ive been to Shannon's a couple times it's a cool decent place to go to. Group of 6 we arrived last night around 10/11 PM. I wasn't drinking but everyone else in my group was drinking moderately. Around 11pm my brother-in-law tells me the female bar tender didn't want to serve him anymore. My group waited patiently and wasn't rude when ordering drinks. She then told the other bartenders to no longer serve us. She had an issue with the way my brother-in-law tipped her.. But my group never tipped her less than $2. The night wasn't over because they were going to continue paying for drinks and tipping her continuously . But she refused her service to us probably because my group is Mexican. She even told the busser to kick us out but he seen no reason to kick us out and she even informed the other bar tenders ( male) to stop serving as well. He still served us though, I give the male employees a 10/10. I was sober enough to know she was drinking on the job. I also found out that she was the manager . We were just trying to enjoy our night. Thought Shannon's was the spot but I guess not. Poor professionalism on your part Shallie. read more

Visiting 2nd street a week after Mayor Garcetti allowed for patrons to visit with restrictions. The restriction is that only 50% capacity at the bars, masks and temperature check is required. I waited in line for a good 30 mins to no avail. My tips to the following: 1. COME EARLY 2. Wear comfortable clothes 3. Kiss social distancing goodbye Overall, from my past experiences at Shannon's, I have give them 4 stars. Fantastic music via jukebox, friendly atmosphere with cramped quarters, and heavy pour on the drinks! Love 2nd street but I'm going to pass until they're at least at 75-100% capacity. read more

Shannons is a top notch dive bar. From the dollar bills covering the walls and the dark ambiance to the stiff drinks served by local bartenders that always shoot the shit with you and remember your name. NIKKI, BABY, KRIS AND ZACH are all great. Tyson hands down best bar back in the game with the birthday shout outs over the megaphone. Nikki is by far the hottest bartender in LB but the beers are always cold and she always has a great shot to back it up. read more
