The tech advised me to switch out the rental, saying it would likely die again. Enterprise isn't open on Sundays. I called on Mon and was assured I could swap cars. There was only 1 car available. At first, I was told I'd be charged for gas, since I didn't fill the tank, but I reminded them that I didn't want to turn off the car at a gas station, for fear it wouldn't start. I'd used less than 1/4 tank of gas. They understood, and I wasn't charged. The second car had something wrong with the trunk, but they were able to adjust it. It had a little less than a half tank of gas. I don't think the cars are thoroughly cleaned between rentals, but the staff does their best to deal with what they have. The staff deserves a 5 and the cars a 3, thus a 4-star rating.

As we were in the process of looking, 2 employees approached us and wanted to know how can they be some assistance to us? At the moment we said, we need like 7 to 10 more minutes. They said, we will be right here, when you are ready. No rush at all. Which we both loved! After scoping out the place, we approached one of the employees and wanted to see the Prius. The car itself looked very nice and clean. From inside and outside. We moved to the next car and got the same feeling. Unfortunately, prices were a tad expensive. Lot was a decent standard size. Could fit about at least 20-25 cars..easy. The employees were not pushy nor were they forceful to rent us a car. The waiting area looked nice and very clean and so did the lot. We told them we will think a bit more, and will definitely come back to this location. I hope my 5 star review will make a BIG difference next to all the other 1 star negative, bad reviews! We decided to stop by at this Avis rent a car and see what were our options like?? As we walked in, 2 employees approached us and wanted to know how they can be some sort of an asset and help to us. I believe one's name was Tony and can't remember the other guy's name. They were both polite & trying their best to help us. We were there on the 2nd of April around 4pm. They showed us a few cars that didn't meet our expectations since 2 of them were Mazda CX50 intermediate SUV, and for 3 days $193.64 not counting the hidden fees such as tax, insurance and the rest. The other car that they showed us was a Hyundai Venue $160.00. Both cars were EXPENSIVE for our budget. The place from outside was not clean, was dusty and needed a good sweep & a wash with a hose. Inside on the other hand was pretty much clean. It's a very small lot that can fit up to 10 cars. Not a lot of cars to choose from except SUV's! So we took the chance/risk and stayed with my son's car and drove all the way to Santa Barbara and back.

After I brought it back, they inspected the vehicle, told me everything was fine, and said I would only be charged a late fee because I was about three hours late--not an additional full day's rental. The next day, they completely changed their story. They charged me for an extra full day of rental anyway and claimed the car still smelled like smoke. That directly contradicted what they told me after inspecting it. It feels like they were just looking for a reason to charge me more. I paid for a professional detail to address their concern, relied on what they told me, and then they went back on their word. This location did not have a 4WD so the dealer authorized me to take the original rental back & pick up a 4WD at BUR, which I did on 12/24. I asked for the rental for 3 weeks, but the dealer never pulled the contract from the airport so last week my car started being charged for the rental. $7k later & a phone call from Tiffany at this location & we found out the dealer was extending the ORIGINAL contract & not the larger vehicle. Long call with Tiffany yesterday & a pop in today & she had EVERYTHING handled! She even allowed me to swap vehicles and put me in a super clean Ford Explorer (the airport car was super dirty). She ensured me the rental would be fully covered (looks like until the middle to end of Feb) and ensured all the charges on my card would be reversed!
