This office rocks. Personalized service without attitude. However, bring cash or a check. No credit cards. We moved here from out of state and needed to get all legal-like with our Washington plates. I went to this office a few weeks ago and the very nice woman behind the counter explained the complexities that are involved in getting paper from one state office to another via the financial institute. It's complicated. Anyway, I was well taken care of that day and left with the proper forms awaiting her personal call which would tell me when I could come in to complete. I hadn't heard from her in a while (she called me about my car but not my husband's), so I drove down there to check on it (forget calling them). I misplaced the paperwork, which usually means you get the stink-eye from the clerks and a lot of attitude. I waited in the aforementioned swiftly moving line and when it was my turn, began to explain to the clerk why I was there. Just then, another clerk, who was within earshot asked, "is your name Johnson?" I said yes, and the gave my the status, just like that! No numbers, no computers, no waiting! I like service like that. The dumb girl at the counter took documents she shouldn't have, then because I was in shock at the price of the car tabs (that had just been paid one month previous by the last owner-how greedy is that?) I forgot to ask for them back. The next day I return to be told they were shredded. Thanks a lot, I'll go into Seattle next time I need anything. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always had a good experience. Employees are always friendly, knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. No, they do not wear official uniforms. Yes, they are dressed appropriately. I feel silly even mentioning that and I'm doing so only because, for reasons I can't even imagine, it seems important to some reviewers. Plenty of on street parking plus a couple big lots over on the next block. Yes, it's located in one of Renton's older buildings but, personally, I appreciate the nostalgia. It's always clean and they offer plenty of seating for those that find it difficult to stand in line. The only bummer (and I might be mistaken) is that I haven't noticed restrooms. Every time I have been to this location they have always provided me with great customer service. I will say it sucks they got rid of 7 day trip passes to only 3 days or 1days but I doubt they have any say in that. Honestly the line is usually to the door but they are very efficient most of the time. Even tho today it was in the mid 80s degree out and line to the door. They did have a fan on which helped and it only took me 20mins to get my tabs. Apparently they're hiring from one of the signs I saw so if you're looking for a job this might be the place for you but I will say only women work here. Which I'm totally cool with and for but yes I have never seen a male employee. Besides this location the one in Issaquah is quick and has good customer service as well but you will have to pull a number and wait to get called. Which is why I like this location better no numbers no sitting in chairs literally just wait your turn in line or pay online and go to the express line against the right side of the wall for super quick pick up. read more

I doubt anyone would look up reviews on Yelp to determine which licensing place to go to because in reality, if you need to renew your tabs/registure your vehicle, then you go to the closest location, but my hope is that someone that manages this place would hopefully someday read this review and take action. Let face it, going to the licensing place is never a pleasant experience; the line is always a mess, you can't use a certain form of payment, you find out you have to pay more taxes because they don't believe you bought your car at x amount of cash, or you can't even register your car that day because you need an emission test. All of that are understandable, rules are rules, but what makes this specific location worse is the people that works there. I honestly have no clue how in the world 90% of employees here even passed being interviewed and got hired; they are just so rude/mean/grumpy/cranky. They have to see & deal with people all day, I'm sure they deal with a lot of nutty people, can they just at least pretend not to hate humans so much? I'm not expecting any sort of customer service going to get my tabs renewed, but a "hello, how may I help you" or smile would be nice. Nope, none of that exists here. Even when I'm the one that took the initiative to ask "hi, how is your day going", I would get a stare like I'm some ding-dong. Whenever I tried asking a question, I always get cut off & get a piece of paper slam in my face that I have to read to answer my question vs. them just verbally answering it. There was a specific time were they didn't took credit card transaction after a certain time & I didn't have enough cash to pay for it which even though I was not aware of the policy, I understand that it's my responsibility to take care of it another day and didn't complain, but the lady snap at me and was like "well too bad, you can't get it done today, come back when you have cash" instead of simply saying "unfortunately we cannot register your vehicle today due to the situation". SO RUDE. I try avoiding having to visit this office as much as possible, I much rather wait for my tabs to be mailed to my house. I hope my hardworking tax money & donations aren't going to support paying these state/government workers that obviously hates their job because they are ALWAYS having a bad day. read more

Some of these ladies are horribly cranky. Especially the one with the gray long hair and glasses. You talk to them and they act like they just don't care. Don't give a rats *** what you are saying. Never smile, Never say thanks. God forbid they have to get off their stools to do something for you (part of their job I presume). Lines are horribly long. I had 14 people in front of me one early afternoon, mid-month. They work at a snails pace, again because they just don't care. It is hotter than blazes inside (no AC) with fans blowing all over the place. I guess that is something. Find somewhere else. read more

This place was AWFUL!!! The lady helping us transfer title on our commercial vehicle DIDN'T know squat. She obviously typed in our DOT & EIN wrong because we went to the Covington one and not a single issue. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!! Went here to transfer title on vehicle. The woman at window #2 (dark hair) could improve on her listening skills and providing useful information to help the customer. She wasn't friendly, looked bored, busily typing into her computer and I sensed that she was just going through the same motions that she always does on her job. When I asked about adding my boyfriend to the title transfer, her only response was "that's between you and your boyfriend ". The appropriate, useful response would be, "If that's what you want to do, it's better to stop the transfer process now and bring him in or you'll have to go through the whole process again and pay additional fees.". I take partial responsibility in that I should have mentioned that from the very beginning, but there are people who just get defensive and not acknowledge their part and that's what happened with this employee. She later got defensive, the manager defended a one-sided story which I knew was a losing battle and not worth getting into. So here I am on Yelp to review my experience. read more

This shop doesn't look like much but they are huge Hawks Fans and demonstrate great patients and knowledge. This is a transaction based business and the support staff have to deal with all kinds of people and problems as it relates to everyone's favorite thing to do; spend money on licensing their vehicle/dealing with title issues. I came into this location at the end of the week, end of the month and 15 minutes before closing and the line was LONG. Line moved very fast - super impressed. I ended up being the last one at the counter and they stayed late to assist me with a unique issue. They were awesome, pleasant and I believe went out of their way to resolve my issue. I ended walking out 30 minutes after closing with my problem solved and my vehicle licensed - Never feeling disregarded or pressured. I usually do all of my stuff online, but if I needed to go into an office, I will gladly come back here. read more

Stopped in yesterday to get my car registered. This place is a hot mess, literally! It's the beginning of August and I swear the temperature inside the office was about 90° although outside was only 70°! It's a small office, not much seating, no airflow, and everyone gets cramped in there like sardines!! There's no such thing as parking! You'll have to park on the street or hope you don't get a ticket parking at the bank next-door. I was dripping sweat by the time I got to the front counter... Had that traditional sting of anxiety the DMV usually gives you. The only reason I gave this location three stars is because the staff was super friendly, informative, and got me in and out of there pretty quick. It's good to see that they could take a joke, laugh at themselves and still get the job done. Ironically, I was there for about half an hour. 25 minutes waiting in line, five minutes was getting my paperwork done LOL. Over all, it wasn't a terrible experience. Thank goodness, you don't have to deal with these places often. read more

Is there a reason they only take cash for some transactions, but debit, credit and checks for others? I needed an affidavit of ownership, but they ONLY accept cash for that. What the hell? So I waited for an hour in line only to have to come back again. read more

Decent experience for a Motor Vehicles office. They are generally pretty efficient and I haven't had any snags so far. They are also nice, way nicer than the folks at the DMV in California. In any case, I'm glad we only have to go to these types of places once a year...or three times in my case since I recently moved here and haven't transferred over the cars yet. This agency doesn't know what they're doing. They charged us for regular plates and military plates and wouldn't refund us the money for one set. My husband asked how much military plates were, they gave them to him, and denied us the refund when we said we only wanted the original plates. Now we have four plates total and no money back. They also sent my title to Bank of America and I have never had a bank of America account. Their service is not to be admired. read more

Have been here twice trying to register our cars. We got the same woman twice. She was very combative and clearly had a problem with us, but I could t figure out why. We also just received a letter from the bank saying that they didn't register the lien correctly. So, now we have to fix that, even though we very clearly explained the Lien to this woman at the time. The other employees knew what was going on, but no one helped us. Overall, don't go here, very incompetent. The best place I've ever been for licensing is the administrative building in downtown seattle. Professional and friendly, worth the trip. read more

The days of the long lines are gone! This agency is great! I have been a long time Renton resident and this agency has always been helpful and kind. I have seen them deal with nasty customers and they handle everything with kindness and courtesy. All the online options are great and if you renew online you can pickup in person and not even have to wait, just walk up to the counter! Their mail service is great, super fast. I suggest this agency to everyone. You should too! read more
